I have visited this place for several years and my therapist is Kitcha (Patty). She is very professional, kind and always asks if you are visiting for some specific reason to address the issue. The place is private, clean and nicely decorated. Price is very good and they always have specials (packages). Just got the Easter package for a great price and you can share the massages w/family or friends. They accept credit cards and you can tip w/card or cash. The massage was worth 4 stars but the experience was a 3. My boyfriend wanted to surprise me with a relaxing 90 minute massage but had to pick me up early because after 60 minutes, the massage therapist ended the session. When I walked out front the receptionist had no idea why this had happened but handed me $20 to account for the short massage. A bit later the woman that had massaged me apologized as she walked by and had a conversation with the receptionist but the reasoning was never addressed with me. In addition to this, it really didnt sit well with me or my boyfriend that money was just handed over to resolve the issue. Can we talk about rescheduling my appointment to include my shorted time or maybe talk at all to address the problem? I guess not. read more

Well, went in for an hour massage with Janet. It was for sure the strangest massage experience of my life. First, I asked for deep tissue and received what amounted to a bad Thai massage. Second issue, this massage therapist had no intuitive touch. In other words, what she did felt no better than foam rolling myself at home. Third, she is not a tiny lady and she got up on the massage table and walked all over me, including putting me into some stretching positions and standing on my joints which felt like my hips would break. So painful. Fourth, she hit me in the head with her oil bottle several times. And I'm saving the best part for last... MORE THAN HALF OF THE MASSAGE WAS DONE WITH HER BARE FEET USING OIL!!! It took me a few minutes to realize it was her feet, but during my neck massage I figured it out. So GROSS. read more

I'm pregnant and have had a stiff neck for 3 days now. I can't use icy hot or bengay, so I decided to get a massage. Great price for an hour massage. They charge a little more for a prenatal massage, but I love the deliberate care she took in my massage. Even with the extra charge for a prenatal massage it was still less expensive than places like Massage Envy. She couldn't get ALL the knots out (I had a LOT of big ones) but she got out more than I expected her to in just an hour. She also was fairly gentle with the knots compared to my previous masseuses. So happy with my massage that I bought a package, which made it an even better deal. So glad massage envy was shady with the pricing this morning when I tried to make an appointment with them. I will drive from orange county just for a great massage! This is the only Massage Place chain I have tried, but it's so good that I have little reason to look anywhere else. I was referred by a friend that has horrible migraines and back pain. She had recently started getting deep tissue and acupressure massages here and felt a huge difference in her pain after only a few sessions. I had my first session a few weeks ago and tried the deep tissue massage. I loved the firmness of the massage and how my masseuse seemed so intuitive. It was a little painful at times, but not unbearable. She would tell me if she was working out a knot or if the pain was stemming from a certain location. I asked her not to massage my legs at the beginning (i just love attention on my back!), but she explained that back pain can stem from tension/tightness in your legs. I liked that she seemed really knowledgeable about back pain and was genuinely trying to get out of all my tension during the session. Since then, I have been back several times. Sometimes the masseuses are booked a week in advance (especially if they are popular), so I have tried different masseuses each time. I have actually liked all of them for different reasons. My last masseuse really concentrated on my scalp and neck, and her pressure was firm. I like that they are willing to customize the massage, instead of just going through the same routine for each customer. The massages are only $47 and you get to pick from thai, swedish, deep tissue, acupressure, or a sports massage. Definitely a great value, plus the parking lot is big enough that you can always find a spot. read more

This place just opened in the same complex as Bristol Farms. It's very simple with a small reception area and a hallway with one room after another. The rooms are cozy, and the tables are heated. The grand opening special is $47 for a 60 minute massage. I'm not sure what the normal price is, but they have the info posted on the wall by the desk. Making an appointment was really easy. Just be aware that as a new client you have to leave a credit card number in case you don't show. My deep tissue massage was with Kitcha, and she didn't disapoint. Granted, her English skills are limited, so if you have a ton of special requests, you might want someone else. She is great if you like a REALLY deep massage (hurts so good!). Her style is also fairly unorthadox -she mixed in some facial accupressure and a small amount of thai massage. Kitcha also isn't really into tucking the sheet around you as she works, so you might want to wear your full-coverage undies. They are open 7 days a week from 10a-10p. read more

Yelp was right on once again! Some time ago, some friends & I were looking for a great place for a massage..simple great massages without all the spa stuff. Of course, you Yelpers helped me find this place and I recommended it to my friend. She's been going on an uber-regular basis now and cannot stop raving about it. She got her BFF to start going and boy... the raving keeps coming! So they both got me gift certificates for my birthday and I JUST got around to going today for the first time. I went to Jan (with high recommendations from my friends) and the FH (future hubby) booked with Joe. I go to Thailand fairly often and get amazing massages every time I go back and coming back to the States sometimes is a bit of a disappointment (if you like really deep deep tissue massages), since they're never hard enough. But Jan.. wow! Jan got in there DEEP and it felt amazing!! I got a Deep Tissue Massage from her but when I told her I also love Thai massages, she ended it with a bit of Thai massage (it helps that she hails from Thailand!). The FH had Joe and since he didn't know what kind of massage he wanted, he gave the FH a mixture of 4 different massages. He was very happy with Joe! Sure, don't get me wrong...it's super nice to have the whole fancy uber-luxurious spa experience...but sometimes we can't all afford it! So, I give this place a wonderful 5 stars for your basic (but wonderful) and affordable massage. My ONLY downside? 2 Stars for the convenient location. When I was looking for massage spas, this was in the same parking lot of the grocery store. Went in & applied. First, front desk clerk acts like she doesn't want to be there, so you have to greet them. Second, you have to look for the hours and ask for yourself because they're not clearly marked. Seemed nice, but this place doesn't make you feel like you're welcomed. Attempted to contact HR for application, but said manager wouldn't be in. I waited for an answer. "At all?" "I don't know." --only that his name is Mike. She says to come back tomorrow & try again. I thank her for politeness, but not for unknowing. Call the next day, person on phone says manager still not there, no idea when will be in, nor when I should try again. Call again a week later after leaving my contact info. Manager tells me over the phone "sorry, we don't hire males. That's not what we do." I told him that's illegal. He said, "Yeah, but females get the customers here. We don't see the point in hiring males because nobody wants them." He brushed me off, not giving any clear explanation why they break the EEOC. Nobody should want him or to patron this place. So, Review: Horrible first-time customer service, not much follow-through, plus Equal Act violations appear here. Go to ANY place BUT this Massage Place. I guess it's true that you get what you pay for. No professionalism from the receptionist or masseuse. I walked in and immediately was shocked by the lack if friendliness and borderline rude receptionist who in between "doing her job" was on a phone call with her friend. She has the perfect gig. The masseuse didn't greet me just told me to follow her into the room. She was barefoot and looked as though she just woke up. The massage was okay at best! I could have paid my husband to give me a better massage. To top it off they just opened a Massage Envy down the street so you would think they would make themselves more competitive with better costumer service. Sorry, no! I know it's really INexpensive, but as the old saying goes, "You Get What You Pay For." I paid for a 90 minute "massage" and what I got was 90 minutes of lotion being applied to my body. Ms. Professional Lotion Applicator was not friendly or warm like a massuer should be. She just did what she was supposed to do, and thankfully she didn't mistake my bones from muscles. It was a very, very average massage. A few minutes in I asked for more pressure and it was as if she didn't know what the word meant. (And no, English isn't her first language. But that is NO excuse! Spanish isn't my 1st language and I know what a mojito is!) The worst part was that during the entire massage she had this little fan blowing right on my head. It was cold in the room already, and even under the blanket I was dreading her exposing my skin because that little powerful fan was giving me crazy goosebumps. Being cold during a massage is one of the worst offenses in my book! The antithesis of relaxing! If you're into spartan accommodations and below average massages, this is your place! read more

If you want to pay for some lady to rub you with oil, then this is the place for you. However, if you want an actual massage, then I suggest you go elsewhere. The Massage Place in South Pasadena is right by my work, so I popped in after an especially stressful day in the office. I did not know who was the best masseuse or anything, so I just took the next available person. I went for a Swedish massage because I really just needed to chill out. However, what I got was some lady rubbing oil all over me for an hour and a half. She really did not break the surface at all. It was a bit relaxing but more like if your friend's mom just gave you some kind of haphazard massage or something. I go to other places in LA and get the same style massage, so I knew I was getting ripped off a bit but for $67 plus tip, I am not going to micro manage my masseuse or cause a big stink about the quality of a massage. In any case, I shouldn't really have to. I was polite and left a proper tip but I won't be back. It is worth it to drive an extra half hour out of my way to get a real deal massage. Last, the parking was pretty weird for any of you who care about your car. The second I parked a security guard was on me asking when I was going to leave. Then, he made me move my car to a more crowded area claiming he would be locking the lot I parked in before I was leaving. I know LA is a bad place for parking in general, so this isn't a knock against The Massage Place but it is an aspect of an overall unrelaxing experience. read more

I had my first session yesterday for the swedish massage and loved it! Found this place on yelp and was a little hesitant due to some bad experiences here from other fellow yelpers. Decided to give this place a try and I will be coming back! They have friendly customer service as soon as you walk through the door, it's quiet and clean. For my massage I asked for medium to light pressure, my muscles and body have been sore from working out. I wanted to relax and didn't want to feel like i was in pain the whole time. My massage was pleasant and relaxing. I loved how they waited for me after my massage with a cup of water, because after an hour i needed it! I also indulged in some mini snacks they had in the waiting room. The prices are reasonable and they also sell packages if you are interested. The only thing I didn't like was that when they were massaging my neck they went on my chin, jawline, nose and forehead. I don't like oil on my face just because i am prone to breakouts and i did wake up with 2 breakouts on my chin. But i can't say for sure the oil or massage are to blame. I took my mom here for a present cause she likes massages... and I do too. Been to The Massage Place in Brentwood and Santa Monica, so I figured this one should be okay. I met my masseuse. Asked him for a Swedish (what I usually get). He started like normal, rubbed lotion on my back. Continued to rubbed lotion on my back for what felt like 10 minutes. It was too gentle, so I asked for a "little firmer" He said okay. I did not feel the slightest difference in pressure and didn't want to be rude and ask for more firmness, so I thought, can't be too bad. We'll sheist me, it was pretty bad. He continued to rub lotion on my back while pressing my body down against the mat. I thought he would eventually switch it up a bit with some of those vibrating elbow movements or at least some finger pressure on my back... but... no... 30 minutes later, he was still rubbing lotion on my back. Now, if this is a Swedish massage, this whole rant is my bad... but... out of all the Swedish Massage I've gotten, I've always gotten more than lotion rub down. I'm thinking if I should ask for a different massage or just end it... By then, he got to my legs... same thing. Rub, rub. When he finished with one foot, I finally got the courage to say, "Is it okay if we ended it right here?" He replied, "Didn't like it." I said, "No, sorry." I went to the front desk and and talked to the lady a bit. The masseuse comes out to give his two-cents in the most rudest way ever. "You asked for Swedish, I gave you Swedish. You said a little firmer, I went a little firmer." At this point I am extremely pissed and just said, "I'm sorry, but I didn't like it." What I should have said was, "Sorry, but my f-en yorkshire terrier walking on my back would have given me a firmer massage then your "a little firmer" massage!" This IS the worst massage I have ever gotten especially with the way he responded at the end. I understand it's hard to hear that someone didn't like your massage and I didn't mean to disrespect or anything, but... after 40 minutes of getting an expensive back rub, I couldn't take it any more. What he thought was a Swedish massage was completely different than what I thought a Swedish massage would be. Though I don't live in LA anymore, I still love this place. Whenever I'm visiting town, I do my best to schedule a session with Clarence or Joe. Joe has become my favorite therapist over the last year as his range and techniques have greatly expanded since my 2010 review. He offers a variety of types from deep tissue to Thai/Swedish mix. He really interacts with the client by asking questions regarding their concerns for the day's session and also spends about 5-10 min interacting with the body at the beginning to get a sense where he needs to focus his time and how to customize the session to maximize the massage experience. Another bonus - no price increases in 5-6 years that I've been a customer. read more

So I made my husband an appointment for a deep tissue massage. He found this place on yelp and it had good reviews. I booked him a 90 min deep tissue massage with Kitcha. It said on the booking website that she specializes in deep tissue massage. My husband came home from the massage disappointed. He said the place was very clean. That's where the 2 stars come in. But said he repeatedly asked Kitcha to apply for pressure. She even got up on the table. But she just couldn't do it. And she told my husband, that's all the pressure I can do. So it's very disappointing to leave a massage and not feel like you got what you paid for and feeling no relief. We will not be returning. read more

Your basic no thrills, no frills massage office when you walk in. The rooms are nice and minimalistic, yet relaxing. I work part time as a massage therapist, and this place is run pretty well. I was a little skeptical of the place due to the low price, so I only booked an hour to try it out since my friend loves this place. The lady I got, I believe her name is Prisica. She didn't ask that many questions other then where I was sore, what areas to avoid, and what type of massage I would like. . Usually to get real work done, you need at least an hour and half, and she did a really good job for an hour work. I def would recommend her. I've been under a huge amount of stress lately. Between working 15 hours a day to getting behind on my exercise routines (and yoga) has resulted in some nagging back issues. I took the recommendation of a friend and checked out a massage place. Now for the record, I don't normally go places for massage. It always makes me feel a little uncomfortable. However, the pain was acute enough and I didn't want to resort to taking drugs if I didn't have to. Thankfully Hannah did a fabulous job. Professional and friendly, I had a sports massage which, as she explained, had deep tissue, trigger point, and MFR techniques. To ensure my comfort, she keep communicating throughout the massage, ensuring everything was comfortable. It was great! Not too hard, not too gentle. After taking care of the crick in my back, she showed me a few stretches I wasn't aware of, including using something called a Theracane on my shoulders and tennis ball on my lower back. Great advice! While some massage places I've seen look gaudy, with over the top decor and smothering smells of incense, this place was very tidy, simplistic, and nice without looking or feeling sterile. The only advice I'd give is some nice houseplants (to raise oxygen levels) would be nice. read more

I wanted to write an update to my review. Today I had to visit my chiropractor because I have been in incredible pain since Tuesday. My chiro said that I had a misaligned rib. This was clearly from the massage or whatever she did to me. I suffered severe muscle spasms and although he was able to make the adjustment, the muscles around it are still extremely sore.
