The first time I was here, an older lady massaged me and was wonderful. She got all my pain points. Today, the lady up front asked if i wanted to concentrate on anything specific. I told her my low back and hip. The lady reconfirmed on the way to the table. This time I had a young woman. She went through all the areas just fine. But the hand motions were short and quick. She really didn't do much for my hip, either. She seemed very sweet, and I would never think of not tipping. I'd hope that with time she will learn to slow down and detect where the pains are so she can work those spots. read more

Let me warn you though: when you go back it's a long hallway with rooms divided only by curtains and so it totally feels shady. Been a customer since their opening. Hesitant on writing review, as I like how not everyone knows of this place. Pros: 1. Price is right 2. Always accommodating. Of course, this took time for me to try different therapists. Now the manager knows the two therapists I prefer. 3. It is a clean respected establishment. No middle aged men wearing sunglasses and a ball cap to mask their identity, hoping for some "extras" added on to their massage. Men, women, old, and young frequent this place. 4. The chairs. For me, I don't like laying on a table and getting undressed. Sitting in a laid back chair, getting a scalp, arm, and foot massage is perfect. 5. Very friendly staff. Cons: 1. I'm fine with curtains draped to divide the rooms. Problem is the people who can't silence their cell phones, or talk loudly to the therapists. 2. People who snore (see above for the way rooms are constructed). 3. People who I can hear get irritated with the therapists for not speaking English. This is typically the leisure world clientele, from across the way. If you have a request, mention to the gentlemen or lady who is working the front. I'm sad I don't live closer to this place. I was in dyer need for a massage and found this place on Yelp. What motivated me to come in was the $25 price point for an hour massage that included upper back and feet. Amy was my masseuse this evening and she did a great job! I tend to like my massages more firm and rough due to the continuous knots that I get in my back. She hit every spot and was determined to get my knots out. Though it hurt, it felt great as well afterwards. After my massage, I felt rejuvenated and couldn't wait to get home and vegetate. Hah. I tipped her well and walked out wishing I could come back sooner. The only downside about this place is that each station is separated by a curtain. So you can hear each client getting their massage. When I got into my spot, there was a man snoring not too far away and the guy next to me answered his phone when there were signs that clearly stated to turn your phone on silent. The guy snoring made me giggle and was kind of distracting. Even the other masseuses were laughing. Additionally, the oils that they used made my skin itchy. I tried this place twice with two recommends therapists - Angela and Sofia. Angela was OK but not worth trying a second time. Sofia was terrible. I showed her my knot before starting and she still couldn't figure out where it was. Then, the whole time it was either too hard to too soft and she didn't get either my verbal cues nor physical cues. I seriously got so annoyed. I told the owner I had a terrible massage and he didn't understand. He smiled. Please learn basic English so you know if you're hurting your customers or not, and please listen to them and their needs I will not be returning. read more

When i got here as walkin and waited 10 min on Sunday noon, there were 3 calls for appointment and 1 couple and 2 customers within 10 min. For the quality Its ok, but pricewise, thats good. The body massage is good, but foot massage wasnt good as other Chinese massage even though they are Chinese. Not like shiatsu massage that i expected. For the services The call operator and massage therapist were ok. They are oriented, but can speak English. However, it wasnt clear when the therapist told me something each time like "take off" or "put on" it was quiet zoon, so thats why it wasnt clear maybe. Off my jacket? Or off my t shirt? BEYOND REPULSIVE. This is the first and the last time I will ever patronize this business. I had a 1 p.m. appointment and was really looking forward to a massage because it has been a very stressful week. Shortly after I was taken back to my room, I started hearing repugnant sounds being emitted from the room next door. There are no walls that separate the rooms, only curtains. The best I can describe, it sounded like a sick cat trying to dislodge a fur ball from its throat. I don't know if this person was belching or coughing or something else, but I can only imagine the germs and toxins being spewed from her mouth and/or other orifices. The sickening sounds continued, so I asked if I could be moved to another room. The therapist returned with the man from the front desk who said of the offending customer, "She is too old." He refused to move me to another room and told me I would have to wait until 1:30 when her massage was finished. Businesses have the right to refuse service to customers who are behaving badly. In this instance I think he should have manned up and removed her from the establishment. I can't imagine being the massage therapist who had to listen to those vile sounds for the duration of the massage. Talk about a hostile work environment. I chose to leave instead of wait. The man refunded my money. He called me a short time after I left and offered me a discount if I would return. There is no way in hell I would ever go back there. TO THE WOMAN IN QUESTION: OBVIOUSLY YOU DON'T HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY TO TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED HELP. My friend and I made a 4:00pm appointment on a Saturday, unsure of what to expect other than inexpensive massages. We showed up at 4:00 sharp and checked in with the girl at the front desk. This place is located in a little strip mall, very unsuspecting place, but inside it's actually pretty nice. Be very quiet when you come in because the massage "rooms" are just on the other side of the wall and there is no insulation what-so-ever. A small group of people came into the lobby during my massage and they were SO loud and it really interrupted the flow I was in. I was put in the very first massage area which was closest to the lobby, but still, be sure to whisper when you arrive. Speaking of which...we had a VERY hard time being quiet while we waited. I don't know why, but we just could not stop giggling. Everything from the people who were walking out of their massages looking like they just got laid, to the water cooler going "glug glug glug" to the front desk girl whisper yelling on the phone...it all had us cracking up with tears in our eyes. I overheard the lady saying everyone is always late to their appointments so it pushes everything back...true. We didn't get into our massages until 4:20ish. You walk behind the front desk area into a long, narrow hallway with probably 15 massage "rooms" all on the left side. I keep calling them "rooms" because it's basically one long curtain with small curtains dividing them up. The curtains are SHEER. My friend and I could completely see each other naked (cue more giggling). When the massage lady saw how comfortable we were naked she asked if we wanted our divider curtain between our two massage tables to be opened up hahaha! Perfect. Anyway, I got a female masseuse and my friend got a male, neither of us had a preference, but when you call to make your appointment you can specify which you'd like. We both got the $35.00 massage which was 45 minutes full body and 15 minutes feet. The massage was very good...reminded me a lot of the massages I got in Thailand, cheap and efficient but not terribly calming. The environment is not ideal for a soothing/mind-clearing experience, but for the money, you get a really good massage. My masseuse did leave for like 5 minutes in the middle of it which was kind of annoying, but other than that, she did a great job (not sure of her name). My friend was equally satisfied with her experience although it sounded like she was getting beat up during it...I guess each masseuse has a different style? Now it's correct. Review: I have been treated at Massage Square three times, and I figured it was about time I write a review to describe my experience. Massage Square is located in a nondescript plaza in next to CVS. You can call ahead to put your name down for a certain time and type of massage / request of male or female, and this usually works good but keep in mind they are busy especially weekends and don't have official "appointments" just approximate slots when you can show up. So you may still have to wait up to 15 minutes, but it always helps to call ahead. I've tried a different option each time at Massage Square, so needless to say I'm pretty good at speaking about their different treatments. The first time I had a full body 1-hour massage (not foot) for $35 because my back was severely knotted and I was in some real pain. They took me into a room and worked on all my painful areas. They gave me water afterward, it was pretty standard fare. What I like about this establishment is the rooms are closed off with curtains so it's semi-private and has real massage tables, rather than the Reflexology in Westminster I used to go where you're just in an open room in your clothes in a 90 degree recliner chair. Though there's no gentle sounds or aromatherapy to soothe you, the touch is very therapeutic, and they pretty well adhere to the rough guidelines of "soft" "medium" or "firm" (I always ask for medium anywhere I go, because that's what works for me). In general the place is pretty quiet, but if you have the room next to the front door it's not as quiet. So try to ask for one near the back if possible. Or go during really off-peak times, like weekdays afternoon. The next time I went here, I got a "back only" massage, because I was in a hurry and it was only my back that was knotted up. I think this was 40 minutes for the same $25 you'd pay here for a 1-hour "foot" and body massage. This quickie did the trick and it was a nice wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, let me go about my day, type of treatment. With the "foot" massage I got this time (el cheapo 1-hour special), the lady soaked my feet then went to work on my head and chest. But she didn't really ask me if I wanted soft medium or firm, she just did somewhere in between soft and medium, which was OK. Honestly, her bare hands were very soft to the touch and this was quite soothing. So overall it was still a good experience. They tell you it's 40m feet, 20m back, which filled me with trepidation, because I didn't really care about my feet getting rubbed, or the majority of time there. But actually, they spent a nice balance of 20m feet / 20m back / 20m chest on me, like I'm used to at other Reflexologys. So that avoided issues with not getting enough torso time. I think it's an advertising trick to get you to spend more money for a higher package, while keeping bargain expectations low, and noticed all places in the area do it. However one downer was while massaging my feet, she had what felt like plastic (not rubber) gloves on and this sort of didn't help the process because they were loose and kept bunching up. I felt like somebody was rubbing my feet long time with what can only be described as a thin plastic cheese cloth. I'd never experienced this before and hope to never experience it again. No more foot massage for me, at least at this establishment. 3.5 / 5 stars for getting the kinks out. Rounded up to 4 because I haven't found too many better ones for the price that are close to me just yet. They also offer a punch card for regular customers, so probably if you buy 9 you get the 10th free. Also be aware, they will add a $2 fee for credit or debit card purchases. I am a reflexology NUT! I don't know anyone who has tried as many locations or gone as frequently as me. California is the only place I've found with the same quality of reflexology, and Massage Square did not disappoint. In fact, I dare say that Angela gave me the BEST REFLEXOLOGY EVER. If you're looking for a relaxing experience at a reasonable place, I highly recommend Massage Square. Remember, it's $25/hr., so I'd tip your masseuse no less than $10 -- even if you didn't enjoy the service. I always tip at least $15. One more thing to know: there's a $2 fee for credit cards, so bring cash if you've got it. So sad to update this review, but it has to be done. The second day I went back, and Angela was unavailable. As a result, I had someone else (name unknown), and she was just OK. She also didn't give me the full hour I paid for because she was in a rush to get home. Our massages were ok. What I don't agree with is they made us pay BEFORE we had our massage and they charged us an extra $2 because we used our credit card (not debit). (I was escorted to my room where i was told to wait. When my masseur arrived, he asked me why I was still dressed. I told him I wasn't informed to do otherwise. I had a fully body massage which was ok and he was supposed to spend at least 10 minutes on my feet, which he did not.) I have received a massage here on two different occasions . I believe the first time was Sofia (if I remember right) and the second time was Anna. I thought they both did a great job. Sofia was probably a little softer and since I'm kind of a wimp I enjoyed it a little more. But in Anna's defense I did tell her my back was sore so she did spend a lot of time on my back and was really working on it so I can't complain. These are the only two massages I have ever received so I don't have anything to compare to but they were great. I do wish you were separated by more than a curtain but it's not a big deal. After calling other places and hearing that all the 'Foo Foo' places were completely booked, I called Massage Squared and was able to get in within the hour. I got a full body massage for $40 and it was THE BEST money I have ever spent. We were hopeful when we discovered this reasonably priced massage studio close to home. When we first visited we were impressed with the quiet environment and pleasant staff. Unfortunately, they could not accommodate us that night. We returned the following day for an appointment to find a much less enthusiastic staff. The first 10 minutes of our massages were spent with the therapists wandering in and out of the room, getting towels, oil, and other items that should have been prepared previously. The guy did a reasonable job on my neck, then moved to my feet. He moved up to my calves, then announced that my massage was over. No back. No arms. No shoulders. When questioned, he said I had big feet and they took extra time.. We paid and left, never to return. I have 2 requirements for being massaged: it has to be a woman, and I prefer to be in the buck. The former is because I just can't relax when a guy is rubbing me down. Massage is a sensual art, and woman with a strong pair of hands can do wonders in getting me relaxed. The latter requirement is because it sucks getting massaged over a pair of pants or even boxer briefs. They can't really get in there as well, plus the material chafes when they're rubbing. This lady worked me over good. After some ashiatsu (back walking), she kneading my back and legs into submission. I like Chinese massage because they utilize techniques I don't encounter otherwise. I even got a bizarre face massage, which some might consider terribly invasive but I found it refreshing. They're pro here, too. Don't expect a rub-and-tug scenario, although this is probably the kind of place where some might expect to find one. I got their frequent buyer card, and a return visit is pretty much a lock. After my insurance decided not to cover massages at my chiropractors office anymore and they wanted $70.00 an hour I just figured my days of getting healing and much needed massage were over. I have gone six months without a massage and my body is in so much pain. I was asking around if anyone had a good massage therapist that wasn't too expensive. A few people recommended Massage Square in Lake Forest so I went in to check it out. I knew there would only be curtains between the rooms so I was somewhat hesitant about that but today I just decided to try it out and was so pleased. You will forget about the curtains especially if your massage therapist is good which mine was. I went for the $35.00 hour which is 45 minutes body massage and last 15 minutes foot massage. She also did a scalp massage which is awesome. I forgot how tense my head can be too since typically I have so much tightness and pain in my neck and uppers shoulders. The gal at the front desk was super nice and helpful. I was a walk in and it worked out timing wise but I would suggest making an appointment to be on the safe side. All in all I was very happy with my outcome. Yes, I am used to having a private room and I have never just had curtains between clients but you still feel like you have privacy. I also like how the massage therapist didn't talk much at all. Maybe because they try to keep the atmosphere peaceful and quiet but I have to say I can relax much more without someone talking to me. That was always a pet peeve of mine at the doctor's office the therapists typically would talk almost the entire hour. Not good if you are trying to unwind. Worst massage ever! I have been coming here for years and have always had good experiences. today the lady - her name is Cindy - she was awful. I paid for an hour combo. But all this lady did was rub oil on my back. I am a small person and she was about my size, she climbed on the table to straddle me, and she proceeded to put her knee into my hamstring/back thigh - i yelled out that she's hurting me and to get off. The entire massage -front, back, legs and feet - was weak and awful - she clearly does not know how to massage and should get properly trained on their standard technique. At the end I told her she was not a good massager and that this was not good, period. she then demanded I give her a tip then continued to ask for her tip. I told her that she's not getting one. I kept asking her to get the manager and after 15minutes i left but called him. James, manager (?) came out to try to soothe things over - all the while Cindy was lurking around. I've been here maybe 20 times in past couple years. I love this place. The $25 foot massage is my favorite, and it's cheap. I've tried the 60 and even 80 minute full-body massage (plus feet), but I'm back to the foot massage. Even with the foot massage, they do your face, hands, arms, legs, and back (over the clothes). I find them clean, fair, and reasonably friendly. Expect to tip them of course at the end. I try to tip them well; those folks work hard and I suspect are making minimum wage, and the price itself is so much cheaper than other places. I've been to a couple other places, but like this place the best. They have the best process -- you are in your own private curtained area, are laying down the whole time, and I like the hot water foot soak at the beginning.
