Came here to celebrate Valentine's Day dinner with my wife. They have valet, but I didn't find it necessary because there is an open parking lot shared with other businesses with plenty of spaces. Valet was still courteous to open the restaurant doors for us, despite us not using their service. Unexpectedly, they had a nice Valentine's Day back drop inside for pictures, and they also provide a single rose to my wife which was a nice touch for the occasion. While it was expected to be busy for valentines (and it was), we were seated immediately upon checking in for our reservation. Uncharacteristically, my wife and I opted for no drinks or appetizers, as we wanted to get straight to the main entrees. I chose their 10oz filet and had it Oscar style which was amazing! It was my first time having a steak that way and it is now one of my favorites! To pair, we shared Mac n cheese (without lobster) and creamed spinach. Both were great. The Capital Grille is a reliable standby for an early evening meal on the weekend. Started off with garlic shrimp and a few cocktails from the happy hour menu. The shrimp was quite solid, and I would definitely order again! Followed up with a ribeye steak, creamed spinach and mushrooms (which can be ordered in half portions). Went to Capital Grille for happy hour yesterday and it was outstanding. We had the cast iron garlic shrimp, sliders, lamb chops, and onion dip and every single thing was delicious. My favorites were the shrimp and the sliders, which honestly surprised me because I am usually not a sliders fan at all. The food is immaculate. The service is phenomenal. It was a long time coming and my first time enjoying the food. I was very impressed with the waiter and the staff. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and made wonderful recommendations. It was everything and I would truly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Our first experience was so great, we decided to comeback to celebrate my birthday. We made a reservation for Friday evening . The valet was prompt and only $5, which was great! We were greeted with friendly staff that promptly walked us to our table. Because we were celebrating my birthday, our table was decorated with cute little happy birthday confetti and a birthday card . Our waiter was phenomenal. She was friendly, knowledgeable, personable and prompt with bring out our food and drinks throughout our dining. I really enjoyed her personality. The food was absolutely fantastic. Every dish that we order was seasoned perfectly and was very flavorful. My husband's steak was cooked perfect at medium rare. He loved the Kona sauce. I ordered the lamb with a side of soy glazed Brussels sprouts with bacon. I must say the Brussels sprouts were addicting and very delicious. My lamb was also very very good . It was probably the best lamb I've tasted by far. Our drinks were great! The ambience was nice . Definitely fine dining , low lite lights, quiet , very clean , romantic with a regal feel. Loved this visit When we try new steakhouses we try to get as much as we can to really get an idea of how good the food is overall and if we will want to come back. Houston has a ton of options so you have to wow us at the price point to get me to come back. Wine list was ok, typical mark ups. We grabbed a bottle and ordered the chilled shellfish to we're to start with. It was great loved everything that came with it. Lobster, crab, oysters, and prawns. Had all the classic accompaniments too. Would definitely order this again. Then we moved on to the steaks. These were incredible. I'm surprised I don't hear much about their steaks because they are better than papas bros which came highly recommended and quite a few other steakhouses as well. My wife got the Kona-Crusted Dry Aged Bone-In NY Strip with Shallot Butter and I went with the Dry Aged NY Strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream. Both came a perfect medium rare and were seasoned to perfection. We shared bites and were equally impressed with both steaks. A few let downs but not enough to take a star. The lobster Mac n cheese was just ok. Not even close to as good as Steak 48 nor Mastros but the steaks were easily on par with both. The vibe and atmosphere of the place was great. However, we were seated really close to the front and near the hostess table. So unfortunately, we didn't get fully immersed in the beautiful vibe of the restaurant. It has that "old money" style and decor. I really liked. Overall, I will definitely be back for more steaks and shellfish towers but will be more picky about where we are seated. Came in on Saturday night, with reservations. We were seated promptly. Our server was great and efficient. Food: Filet Mignon- ordered it Medium. Was cooked perfectly but it was overly salted. Took some of the flavor away from the meat. Mashed Potatoes- the sides are ordered separately from your entree. It's a good value for the price as the portion is huge, could easily have 3 people eat from one. Flavor was great. Caesar Salad- as a Caesar salad expert, this is a great salad. Give me a Capital G for Great!!! This restaurant in the Galleria area of Houston was top notch for a business dinner. We had a table of 7 and other than it being a 3 hour event (mostly our fault), it was a grand experience. Service was spectacular with water refills happening seemingly after each sip, wine pouring when a glass was almost empty, and clearing plates and silverware as if we were all kings who wouldn't dare use a fork twice. Their Lobster Bisque was probably the best version I've ever had, and I don't say that lightly. There were huge pieces of lobster in the velvety orange creamsicle colored bisque. I think I even had an intact claw in there! So good! The appetizer of fried calamari was also damn good, with no rubbery parts and lots of crunchy tentacles. These disappeared pretty fast! I ordered the Seared Tuna and the piece was beautiful and big and so fresh and flavorful. All the accompaniments were delicious as well and after bread, soup, and apps, I couldn't finish it all. There are plenty of nice options in the Galleria area, but I'd put this Capital Grille up against all of them. Just make sure someone else is paying and you'll love it! read more

I ordered the NY Strip cooked rare, 1 Titos Vodka n Diet Coke and a slice of Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert. The steak was simply awesome being very delicious due to a very generous amount of seasoning, high quality, fatty to the right level, beefy in taste and the dry-age zing was just right not being too strong. The slightly bouncy inside was cool and contrasting to the warm, coarse, crusty top. Each bite was so consistent, very flavorful and very tender all the way through. The drink was simple, refreshing and chilled. I normally like vodka in lemon drop drinks, but thought would try it with a diet soda for the first time. The dessert was amazing, so rich, dense, full of deep cocoa vibes, buttery and had some great, refreshing raspberries on the side as well. I love dark chocolate and raspberries a lot, both by themselves and together. The coconut pie here is amazing too. The service from everyone I came across such as the guy that served me, chef, busboy and whoever else I met was so welcoming, friendly and efficient. Excellent meat. Excellent dessert. The only caveat is you have to purchase an entree. I always visit this establishment during restaurant month. However, I was disappointed during my last visit. As a a solo diner, I invariable gauge a restaurant by the way they treat one person vs. a larger group. This is not really a place for me after all. When I arrived, I asked for a smaller booth. The ladies at the front told me the restaurant was completely booked and all they offered me was a table with chairs. I let them know I have back problems. As I was about to leave, they suddenly found a small booth in the back of the restaurant. Obviously, they were holding this for a couple who may come in. Unacceptable. When I sat down, the waiter seemed impatient and didn't even greet me cordially. I didn't order an alcoholic beverage immediately, and I ordered from the restaurant month menu. Perhaps he already assumed I wouldn't spend much money. When I ordered, he asked if I wanted potatoes OR creamed spinach. I asked if I could have half and half. He abruptly declined, asked for my choice and walked off. I noticed the manager and asked him to come over. I explained that I felt that I was not being treated in a patient or friendly manner. I also noted that last year they included BOTH mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. He replied that both ARE included. My instinct on the bad service was further clarified. I asked to change waiters, and John was lovely. I did order wine, and he even brought me a second glass to try an even better one. Thank you, John! I wish he had included the leftover bread I asked to take home with the rest of the meal. I'm not one to throw food away. I will continue to frequent other restaurants during restaurant month in hopes of finding new venues that will be more accommodating to a solo diner. The noise level in the restaurant was almost unbearable, especially with the large group next to me literally yelling across the table to each other. The establishment seems to have skipped spending money on more sound absorption in exchange for decor. If you are a large group, you'll probably get great service at the onset. If not, the manager is a lovely gentleman who will make your visit better. The cuisine is delicious. I hope the service will be more consistent to treat everyone with impeccable service, even a solo diner. read more

BAR REVIEW ONLY Often when I travel on business and do not have guests, I sit at the bar and enjoy my dinner. Some restaurants struggle to give their patrons a high quality experience including dinner, when seated at the bar. Well, The Capital Grille in the Galleria does an excellent job providing a premium dinner experience sitting at the bar. The service was excellent. I had 2 different bartenders checking on me to make sure I had everything I needed, but more importantly everything that I wanted. Capital Grille in general has great steaks. And actually, the previous night I enjoyed a steak from one of the more famous Texas steakhouses and Capital Grille was by far the better choice. The filet was my choice with some Cauliflower Au gratin. Worth noting, this is just outside the Galleria area and not quite as busy. Definitely will be back. Cheers guys! read more

We were curious about the Grand Chateau mainly for its price point and ordered it. To be honest, we wouldn't get it again. The lobster tail didn't taste so fresh and it kind of ruined my appetite a little bit. The oyster and shrimp weren't bad though. The service was good. They had a table ready on time for our reservation and we didn't have to wait past our reservation time. Dined here for date night. We were seated quickly. My husband ordered the steak, I ordered a chicken dish. I was not too thrilled with this dish. The chicken wasn't the greatest. I'm a very picky eater and was hoping for the best, but was disappointed my husband on the other hand enjoyed his steak. I got a to go and just fed it to my dog. Well, when your expectations are set high by reviews and comparable restaurants, it's fairly easy to get disappointed. My experience at Capital Grille was fairly average. This was predominantly based on the taste of the food. Even though my ribeye was prepared the right way, it seemed to be lacking flavor. It was almost like they held back too much on the seasoning. Also there were areas on my medium prepared steak that tasted burnt, which was odd. The creamy spinach was also missing a lot of flavor. The Au gratin potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese were pretty good in comparison to the other dishes, just not exceptional in my opinion. The coconut cream pie was very disappointing, however, the cookie thing attached was delicious. Upon arriving to our table, I saw that piece of the butter was cut out. This wasn't a big deal as I didn't bring it to their attention, however, I made a mental note. Also, my brother's scallop dish wasn't prepared well. He had to send it back. The positive is that I thought it was sweet that they brought out roses for the mothers, which was very thoughtful. read more
