My boyfriend and I make it a point to come to Mastros for our anniversary because they always take the best care of us right when we walk in to the friendly hosts greeting us to the servers, whom Casey was such a gem. He was so attentive and so kind. The manager Tati also comes to check on us to make sure we are being taken care of from time to time. The restaurant is beautiful, the entire staff is welcoming and friendly, and the food is delicious! Everything we had was so memorable. Thank you Mastros for yet another wonderful experience and memory to have forever.

Was here for Mother's Day food was great took a while to come out but expected on mother's day. The Dj was amazing she had a great voice she definitely made the atmosphere so relaxing with the song choices. Sever was good until he added his on 100 tip at register. He apologized said it was an error so that was a lil shocking. Manager did come immediately to help void it then we were able to leave a decent tip for server. Just not 100 so make sure you check tip amounts before signing your tab.

Had an amazing experience at Mastro's for our 6 year anniversary. They even made a custom menu with our names on it which was truly a pleasant surprise. The food was fantastic, but the service really made the night. Casey was an incredible server--friendly, attentive, and always made sure we had everything we needed. Tati, the manager, also stopped by to check on us throughout the evening and made us feel truly welcomed. The live music while we dined was a nice touch and was definitely a good vibe to add to the experience.

Consistently delicious as always! Drinks are delicious, steaks are wonderful, bread is yummy and service is always warm and friendly. Ambience is great and their live musicians set the mood well. They could turn down the freezing a/c a bit (especially for a San Fran locale, not lot of need for a/c up north). Otherwise we shall see you soon enough!

We came here on Wednesday for my husband's 45th birthday. What a gorgeous place! The staff were so friendly. From the doorman to our waitress, we received the best service. I thought the DJ was playing music, but he was the one singing! The drinks and food portions were surprisingly generous. We ordered bread, asparagus, lobster Mac & cheese, grilled shrimp and medium cooked steaks! All the food was delicious but I honestly expected more from the steak. Maybe I should've ordered it medium rare. It just seemed a little on the dry side. The complimentary birthday cake was delicious as well. It's definitely a special occasion type of place. I would definitely comeback again for another special celebration.

Popped in for an early dinner and was seated immediately. Everyone was friendly. There were some pretty loud tables but it was mostly quiet at the beginning. The bread basket was great! Lots of different options. We split the New York A5 Wagyu. They offered to split and slice it, which was nice. The steak was supposed to be medium but seemed closer to medium well and was super salty. This is coming from someone who loves salt. Side dishes were yummy. Sorbet was a little on the icy side. Less creamy but still a nice cold tart treat to end the dinner.

Friday, November 7th, 2025 - SF Restaurant Week Menu

Date: Friday, November 7th, 2025 Time: 7pm Party of: 2 Meal: Dinner Reservation Made Thru: I believe OpenTable a few days prior Occasion: SF Restaurant Week *Bread ($6) *Large San Pellegrino ($11) *Bone Marrow ($31) *Crab Cake ($27) *Caesar Salad ($17) *Crab Gnocchi ($43) *PF Ribeye 22oz ($125 = $90 SFRW +$35 supplement) *RW Lobster Mac & Cheese ($20 supplement) *Get Loose with Goose ($23) *PF Lobster Bisque ($10 SFRW supplement) *Gl 1L CS Austin Hope ($35) *Diet Coke ($5.25) *Total Tax ($30.47) A friend and I wanted to check out a spot for San Francisco Restaurant Week. After comparing menus and savings, my friend picked Mastro's. It was pretty easy to make a rezzie a few days before. I believe he used OpenTable. We ended up doing one SFRW menu and then just adding stuff on top. The SFRW included - the Lobster Bisque (normally $23), Bone-In Ribeye 22oz (normally $93), Creamed Spinach (normally $16), White Cheddar Lobster Mac & Cheese (normally $50), Signature Personal Warm Butter Cake (not sure on pricing since didn't see a dessert menu tho I think it is around $18 based in menus from other locations). In total, if ordered a la carte, we would have spent $182 plus the cost of dessert. (If the dessert was indeed $18, then it would have been $200 for our menu.) Instead we spent $155, so not a bad menu if you are looking at savings. I've been here before and it is a fancier steakhouse. They even have a dress code. Definitely pricey, but I feel like most steakhouses in this category are on the more expensive side. The food was fine. Very decadent since we ordered all the creamy carbs. I enjoyed the steak and bone marrow. I do think think it's a little silly to charge for bread and butter at these prices, but being in the SF Bay Area, I am not surprised. The crab cakes were a little fishy, but I ended up eating it with the caesar so that helped along with the lemon. Ambiance wise, I think they are going for intimate, but a touch trendy? It is very very dark, so I had issues reading the menu when it came time to order. I just used my camera flashlight cuz sometimes you just gotta light your menu and say screw the vibe. Otherwise, our server was very sweet. If you want steak in a fancier setting, I'd say Mastro's fits that bill. Tho for me, this would be more of a special occasion spot. REVIEW #3911

Wow, what a memorable dining experience, so much so, I went back twice! Phenomenal service from beginning to end. The hostesses greet you with a smile, the ambiance is vibrant, and the live music really sets the mood. Parking can be horrendous on this side of the city, but there ample parking lots around the area, if there's no street parking. There's also Lyft/Uber/Waymo. Delicious food with exceptional plating, especially when they scoop the sides onto your plate one by one. The warm bread is scrumptious, take some home for later. Everything tasted even better the next day. Great place to celebrate birthdays, special occasions, promotions, retirement, etc. It's way better than STK, actually no comparison. Can't wait to come back for juicy steaks and mean arse martini's. Bring your own bottle of wine for $50 corkage fee, not too shabby. 'Til we meat again ~ cheers and see you on Yelp (SYOY)

Visited on NYE and it was definitely busy, but we were glad to have a reservation. The ambiance is very upscale with dim, intimate lighting. They also had live music that night, which was a great touch, really talented musicians playing a mix of new and classic songs. I ordered the espresso martini, which was a bit mid. Our server did mention it isn't a crowd favorite, but I decided to try it anyway. We started with the bread basket, which was huge for two people (probably could've skipped it), and the sautéed shrimp, wow. They were packed with flavor and a great size. I especially loved dipping the bread that came with the shrimp into the sauce. So good. For mains, we ordered the filet and ribeye, both cooked perfectly, along with the lobster mac and cheese and broccolini. The lobster mac and cheese was tasty, though the thick layer of baked cheese on top felt a bit overkill. The broccolini topped with Parmesan was a standout. Our server was very attentive and provided excellent service throughout the night. Overall, a great experience, and I would definitely return.

Came here after a long day working a trade show. I highly recommend getting a reservation it was a very crowded restaurant. What looked like a relaxing place for a great dinner was surprisingly loud and chaotic. It felt like our server forgot about us for a long time and the bread we ordered as an app didn't come until after the entree's did which was odd. It also was at least 15 minutes in between being seated and ordering drinks or getting water. Not a great experience. Then they had to come back after a while because I needed the gluten free menu so it was just very slow and not ideal. The steak however was very good. I got the NY strip that came out on a plate so hot it literally burned my tongue a little bit but I was happy that it was because my steak came out a little under and the hot plate cooked it enough to where I wanted it. I got a NY strip and it wasn't as tender as I would have liked. As shown in the picture the cook was uneven and the steak had a large fat cap that should have been trimmed before cooking. I hate paying steak prices for just fat. We also got the side of lobster mashed potatoes that was delicious. The best part of the meal in my opinion. Overall a decent meal but at the price point I expected way better service. We were right in the middle of a walkway like the table was added. We had a reservation so it just wasn't the ideal experience.

This was the best meal in San Francisco! If you want to enjoy delicious steak & seafood with excellent service then Mastro's will deliver a special meal. Terra was an attentive server along with his team. We enjoyed signature cocktails, a delicious seafood platter, juicy wagyu steaks & a tasting of all the desserts.

Our waitress Lisa was amazing! Very attentive to us while attending other tables as well. Checked up on us to make sure we were doing good the whole time. Her customer service was one of the kind we want everywhere we go! Definitely recommend this steakhouse as well as the food was quick and perfect temperature when it came out! The bussers were also amazing and very helpful! Recommend overall!!

birthday surprise - strawberries and sorbets
    Sushma K.

Came here for a surprise dinner and it was amazing, -1 star as there was a major confusion in the surprise dessert. While our stay in Cali, this was one of surprise outings for for my birthday... and it was def WOW! Do try this place out, given they have several locations.. the ambience is gorgerous at night, they have an amazing wall of bottles of wines and a nice walk up to the main dining area.. our server was nice and gave good recommendations.. the portions here are Massive, so do watch out on that! For drinks we had the French 77, (which btw, is a must must have!) The warm bread basket, was extremely welcoming and cozy.. The Roasted Bone Marrow, was outstanding..! I was particulary excited for the Wagyu, but the tomohawk disappointed as it was too grainy and big portion size for a party of two! The surprise dessert is what makes this rating a 4 and not a 5. When i mentioned i was not particularly keen on ice cream, i was hoping they would give me ice cream on the side of the butter cake, instead they did not give me the butter cake at all! I got strawberries and sorbet, they must have mistaken it as an allergy towards dairy!!..I have heard raving reviews about their Butter cake and do wish to try it someday, without any confusions, especially not such confusions, on my birthday!! What surprised me is that each location has different menu items, some feature in some location and some dont! So don't be surprised if one of your fav dishes isnt in one location! Regardless the confusions, the key standouts where the drinks, some of their dishes, the butter cake (which if your lucky you can try or just be specific on the ice cream on the side!), the ambience, perfect for dates nights - do not take your kids to this place though, perfect for high end office meetings or just a perfect spot for something special to celebrate if you are in a mood to splurge! Having said that, i would def go here again!

    Is it loud inside?

We were there on a Saturday around 6pm. There was live music upstairs, but it wasn't loud in the main dining room. I'd say it was medium/low on the noise level and easy to have a conversation with the people you are with.

Moody, warm interior -- think modern speakeasy meets Castro bistro -- with a vibe that works equally well for a date night or a group celebration. We came four deep and zeroed in on two things: the Butcher's Board and the Branzino. Both delivered. The Butcher's Board ($365, serves 3+) is an event. Prime ribeye, filet mignon, rack of lamb, grilled octopus, crispy calamari, truffle lobster mac & cheese, shishito peppers, creamy mushrooms, butcher's potatoes, and toasted ciabatta -- it's a full spread, and every component pulls its weight. The lamb and ribeye especially stood out. Four people left genuinely stuffed, which is saying something. The Branzino ($44) -- whole grilled Mediterranean white fish with kimchi, shishito, olive oil, and lemon -- was the perfect counterbalance to all that meat. Clean, bright, and beautifully done. Service was attentive and the pacing was great for a group. This is a reliable spot that doesn't cut corners on quality. Highly recommend making a reservation and going big -- the Board is absolutely worth it.

This effectively ended my visit as my feet would soon be numb. My friend had left a bit earlier, so I gathered my briefcase, coat and purse and made my way to the elevator. The wait staff looked on. Nobody offered a hand. A couple of days later I called management and let them know what happened. They said someone would follow up. Nobody did.

I had a flight of their amaros and loved them all, followed by some excellent cocktails that highlighted their products. Dinner menu is designed for sharing/family style. Everything was delicious and creative. We started with their crispy chicken skins, a bitter lettuce ceasar, octopus salad, and their duck confit with a surprising corn couscous. Our server was excellent, with full knowledge of their spirits and lots of guidance for tasting. Loved the bright comfortable dining room, with a bit of vintage flair.

Very much appreciated that accommodation. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and tasted even better. There was a special with homemade focaccia, ricotta, pesto, and eggplant + tomato tapenade. I could have eaten a bowl of every ingredient individually, and together they were even better than the sum of the parts. We also had the curry chicken croquettes, citrus caesar, confit octopus, and gnocchi - all fantastic. And the drinks - next level. I had the Sam Fernando and it was dangerously drinkable, I had to order a second. My partner's Bird of Paradise bamboozled us with its clarified coconut milk - so wild to drink something CLEAR that tasted so much like a piña colada! Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

The menu reads like a greatest hits of comfort food - steak, burger, truffle fries, mac & cheese…read more But there's a recurring theme here: a shocking fear of salt. Filet Mignon is Medium Rare Perfection... Beautiful pink center, warm red ring, crust that had a nice sear. The Bordelaise sauce was rich, slightly sweet, and had that deep red-wine reduction thing going on. But the steak itself had zero salt. The sauce tried its best, but a steak shouldn't need to be drowned to have flavor. M&L Burger. Juicy, But Also... Juicy? That's It. But again: no seasoning. The beef itself was bland. There was a bacon jam or sauce on it that added some smokiness, but when I took a bite without it (just to test), I was met with... nothing. Just wet, unseasoned meat. Parmesan Truffle Fries were legit, crispy, hot, tossed in enough parmesan and truffle. The portion was huge (feeds 2-3 easily). Black Truffle Mac & Cheese. First few bites? Creamy, luxurious, black truffle shavings. But by the fourth or fifth forkful, it got heavy. Missing acid. A little hit of something sour like lemon, would have saved it. Also, the pasta was overcooked. Peaches & Crème Tart was Aggressively sour. The peaches were fine, but the yuzu sauce underneath was so overwhelmingly acidic that it felt like a prank. My face scrunched up like I'd bitten into a live battery. The crème was there somewhere, but it got completely bulldozed. One bite was enough. I left the rest. My dentist would approve. If you do go, order the fries, bring your own salt grinder, and skip the tart unless you enjoy punishment. Service was great btw.
