Wow--The Vault Steakhouse truly impressed me! I came in expecting great steak, but I was blown away by how amazing everything was. The seafood boil was packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and so fresh--it honestly felt like a special occasion on its own. And the over-steak experiment? Absolutely delicious! Tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection with a creative twist that made it stand out from any other steakhouse I've tried. The atmosphere was upscale yet welcoming, and the service made the whole experience even better. If you're a seafood lover, a steak enthusiast, or just want to treat yourself to a fantastic meal, this is the spot.

Went to The Vault Steakhouse in San Francisco and had a decent experience. My work group came in about an hour before closing on a weeknight, and the staff was very accommodating and welcoming, which we really appreciated. The space has a classic underground feel and a nice atmosphere. While the food didn't quite stand out as much as we hoped, it was still enjoyable (factoring in the time of night). The service was definitely the part to me that left a positive impression. Not a total show stopper, but overall a solid option all around especially if looking for an upscale business casual dinner.

We've been trying out different steakhouses in the area for our guys birthday dinners and we found this place. I made reservations just in case the place was busy during the holidays. We arrived on time and they sat us down right away. They brought us waters right away which was good. Our waitress came around to take drink orders. We all ordered drinks which came out fairly quick. We didn't order any appetizers before our meal. We did order some bread for the table which was not free but it was good. For our orders we ordered the french onion soup, caesar salads, and the lobster bisque to start. For our entrees we ordered the RIbeye, the branzino, the New York steak, and the steak frites. For the sides we ordered the mash potatoes, the truffle mac n cheese, and the creamy spinach. We also ordered a bottle of red wine for dinner. Our starters came out shortly afterwards which wasn't bad. The French onion soup looked good, had some good flavor, plenty of cheese, but there wasn't much onions in it and it was more like mushroom soup with all the mushrooms that was in it. The lobster bisque was just ok, it didn't have the creamy, buttery lobster flavor like it should have. The caesar salad was to creamy and not like a good caesar flavor, and thats the first time I've seen one with eggs on it. Finally, a guy who I think may have been the manager came over and told me that they didn't have the bottle of wine we wanted and recommended another bottle for us, I said ok. I thought the price would've been comparable to what we ordered or that he would've given us that bottle for the same price as the other one since they didn't have the one we wanted but after we got our bill, I saw that the charge for the new bottle was almost doubled than the bottle we wanted. The entrees came out and my steak was overcooked, it was supposed to be med rare, it was more like med to well. My friends said that the fish was just ok, nothing special about it, the steak frites was good I was told cooked perfect, one New York steak was good I was told, the other one was over cooked as well, and the last steak was also cooked good. One of my friends ordered some horseradish which wasn't free and it was too creamy and mild. Our sides were very disappointing, the mac n cheese wasn't that cheesy and it was watery, the creamy spinach wasn't that creamy and was also watery, and the mash potatoes was really small, luke warm, and was just ok. Normally, any restaurant we go to they always give the birthday person a free dessert dish but not this place. We didn't order any desserts this time. As for our waitress, she was not that good. She wasn't that pleasant, she was not around a lot to see if we needed anything, and we often had to ask her for things twice. I also told her about my steak and nothing happened with that. Also, expect the prices to be just a little high which we expected. I really don't like giving low ratings like this but this time, this was warranted.

We arrived and the ambiance looked good. The piano bar seemed like it was a good idea ;). The lady playing the piano was a little off key and it was pretty loud. When she took a break.. we were at peace. We ordered a ribeye, Caesar salad, and broccoli. The gentleman came out and made the Caesar salad in front of us. I would have to say that the dressing was a little bit too lemony for me. But the croutons were amazing. I would give the salad, a three out of five. The broccoli was delicious and had some nuts in it with some flavor. The ribeye was a disappointment. We ordered the ribeye, medium rare and it came out extra rare. Customer service was great. They put the ribeye back on the grill and came back with the ribeye, medium rare. But I have to be honest, the ribeye was not very good. I would not come back to this restaurant. But like I said, the customer service was wonderful and they were very attentive to our needs. My husband ordered a drink call: ACROSS TWO BARRELS ...served up rye, pineapple gum, lemon juice, mulled wine angostura bitters, dried pineapple... He said it was ok. Like I said.. customer service was great, but the food just wasn't very good.

One of my goals when I travel is to sneak away and eat a Steak. So for me, finding The Vault Steakhouse, was indeed a revelation. I walked from my hotel (Staying at the Hyatt Regency on 3rd Street) it was a quick 15 minutes to reach The Vault. Ambiance: As you make your way into the restaurant, you can hear the faint sound of a piano that gradually crescendos into their entry way. The front-end of the restaurant is a nice piano bar area. Dimly lit, with a modern aesthetic, I felt the up-scale yet laid-back atmosphere hit me and it indeed set the tone for my meal. You have an option to either sit within the Piano Bar area or the rear of the space where there is more traditional sit down experience. The transition however, is seamless as I choose the more traditional sit-down and yet, the ambiance of the piano playing in the front still was present, which to me, enhanced the atmosphere. Food and Service: Shoutout to my server Nathan! He was amazing as not only being my host for the evening, but the entire staff for making me feel comfortable. As a solo diner, I often find that I get left to my own devices and, for some reason, not attended to or ignored till I end up ecstatically waving someone down. But, tonight was a different story, not only did Nathan and the entire staff make sure my wine glass was full, but frequently asked how my meal was and if I was comfortable. For that, bravo. Food-wise, I ordered their Ribeye with Potato Puree and Creamed Spinach. I like my steak Medium Rare with slight sear on the top. From the first cut, I knew the steak was done perfectly. The tiny crackle from the sear to the buttery cut of the medium rare interior, indeed was something I was looking for. The seasonings were on point and not to overwhelming as to not take away from the meat. The Potato puree was soft and cloudlike with that slight butter and garlic, while the creamed spinach complemented both. Overall a great meal overall. My knock however, was my knife. One of my delights was that I got to choose my knife and honestly that was indeed my highlight of the meal. It served to heighten the drama of my dinner. It was a small joy to be graced with such a choice! However, from the first cut, I had to work a bit harder to cut my steak. Which to me, could have docked an entire star, but the meal itself along with Nathan and the staff's hospitality won me over. Overall, worth the visit if you are able! PSA: Enter of of California St! I was a bit confused as I didn't realize it till I looked again! Don't be me and enjoy your visit!

The service was a 10/10 The ambiance was so nice. The food was amazing, they made the Cesar salad table side. Such a cute experience. The steak was cooked perfectly. Lobster Mac and cheese and chili crunch broccoli (not pictured) both were really good. The broccoli was cooked just right the chili crunch was such a pleasant taste altogether. I will definitely be back.

The vault is a beautiful restaurant with pretty good food. It's definitely on the pricier side and certain items, like the Caesar, weren't worth that price point for me. The mains and desserts were good and the cocktails were fine. Service was quick and easy.

Was so excited to try this place for the first time!! We went for Valentines day and, we ended up being highly disappointed . We had incident on top of incident food not coming out as ordered, wait time to place a drink order and just to get service in general was extremely difficult. It was bad weather that evening so, we both had overcoats. My boyfriend had to pit his on the back of his chair and I sat mine folded on the side of me, only to see later on the hostess taking ppl coats as they entered to hang in the coat check! They were offering a $99 Valentines dinner special that included starter, entree and dessert. My boyfriend ordered the Ribeye Steak(medium well) and I ordered the Lobster Risotto. His steak came cooked well done ,so we had to send it back. We literally had to ask for someone to check on the 2nd steak because it was taking way too long. The managers were very kind and helpful, I'm appreciative of the grace shown. The drinks were delicious they have an amazing happy hour!! Overall the food was good although very expensive!! Come prepared to spend a nice coin

We got to choose our steak knives. So many unique options

First off let me say the staff were absolutely amazing! From when we entered to when we left, we were checked on and taken care of every step of the way. Our waiter, Nathan, really made our day special by adding a lovely letter on the table celebrating my friends birthday. The setting was really intimate and relaxing. I would recommend sitting in the main room and not the piano room because the piano is pretty loud and it can still be heard from the main area. The food was so so good. We eat steak a lot and this was honestly one of our tops. We got to pick our steak knives as well which was a cute touch. I will say the lobster mac was not our favorite. The lobster was very chewy but the mac itself was good, so id get it again minus the lobster.

I have recently come to this restaurant for 2 celebratory dinners with different work teams and all are in agreement that this restaurant was spectacular. The food, service, and ambiance were all memorable. The place itself is nicely lit and had a very mellow but sophisticated vibe, and both times that I've visited they've had a piano player which added a lovely touch to our time there. Between the two groups we've had the mussels, shrimp cocktail, focaccia bread, potato "pave" tots, and lobster dip. They were all hits with special shot outs to the shrimp cocktail, lobster dip and focaccia breads with butter and olive oil which were popular. We've also had a chance to try the potato purée, roasted broccoli, mac n cheese, French fries, and mushroom gratin. All were winners, but they really do have some of the best French fries in SF. The steaks are well seasoned and perfectly cooked with an amazing char. My leftovers were still somehow perfect the next day, I have no idea how they do it. Highly, highly recommend the steaks. Finally, what I appreciated the most was just the overall level of customer service they provided. They were very gracious with any request, and were kind enough to check our work bags for us. The staff here pays attention to the smallest details, even wiping small water spills, refilling wine glasses timely and artfully, or refolding a crumpled napkin. While this restaurant is a bit expensive, this is one of the few places that I would say the cost is worth every penny. Just an outstanding meal on both my visits.

In order to actually secure a reservation, I had to book a year in advance. So, if you want to dine here, you must plan and commit to dining here far in advance. As you'd expect for a place with such a name, the vibe is very old school SF. Dark colors and lighting with lots of wood paneling. I'd kind of be disappointed if it didn't have such an old timey feel to it. We ordered a couple of drinks at a table that opened up by the bar, as we were quite early for our reservation. I ordered a lemon drop and the hubby went with a Moscow mule. The lemon drop was tasty (my current go to cocktail), and they also give you the shaker with the extra. Very nice way to start. We were seated at a two top in one of the seemingly endless number of dining rooms. Our server, Alberto, was incredible. He was warm and friendly and made our first visit to HOPR, extra special. Early on, I communicated to him that I was lactose intolerant, and he was so very helpful and knowledgeable. He immediately recommended subbing out the creamed spinach with sautéed spinach instead. And he assured me that there was no dairy on the salad. I so appreciate when severs can help me navigate around my lactose intolerance. Once again, as you'd expect, the menu options are only which prime rib cut you want. There's nothing else for entrees. There aren't even any appetizers. The accompaniments are standardized: salad, baked potato or mashed, creamed spinach, and Yorkshire pudding. They also start you out with fresh, hot bread, which was so great, helping us soak up the generously poured cocktails. I went with the English Cut, which was thinner, and my husband opted for the House of Prime Rib cut, a thicker cut. Everything was so excellent and flavorful. My husband even ate the salad, which is really remarkable. Dining at HOPR is an experience. They put on a show with your salad by adding ingredients to the salad bowl set over ice and spinning it around. Or when the chef carves the prime rib from one of many metal carving stations throughout the restaurant and then plates your dish right in front of you. Or when the sever cuts up the Yorkshire pudding or adds the toppings to the baked potato on a tray beside you. So much fun, and I very much appreciated this entertaining aspect of the dining experience. We had such a wonderful and memorable time at HOPR. I've already planned our trip for next year. It was worth the wait, and I'm looking forward to returning!

We also had the curry chicken croquettes, citrus caesar, confit octopus, and gnocchi - all fantastic. And the drinks - next level. I had the Sam Fernando and it was dangerously drinkable, I had to order a second. My partner's Bird of Paradise bamboozled us with its clarified coconut milk - so wild to drink something CLEAR that tasted so much like a piña colada! Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

I brought my mom on a day trip up to SF to watch The Odyssey in 70mm IMAX at the Metreon. We had…read morealready ate a nice brunch at Kantine before the show. I wanted to take her to one more nice place before heading back home. Chef Tyler Florence's Miller & Lux next to the Chase Center in Mission Bay seemed like the best option. Parking was a bit challenging, as the spots across the street from Miller & Lux were five minute passenger loading only after 6pm. So I had to park in the stadium garage, which took about 10 minutes to find a spot and walk all the way back to the restaurant. From the moment we were escorted upstairs from the bar area, the service was top notch. Very congenial and accommodating. More importantly, my mom felt well-taken care of by the staff. They gave us our choice of a central booth or smaller table next to the expansive window overlooking Mission Bay. As we are both light eaters, we decided to share an order of the Filet Mignon and Tableside Caesar. After the soufflé-like bread puff and butter appetizer, the salad specialist rolled up his cart next to our table. He got busy mixing together mustard, Worcestershire sauce, shaved Parmesan, and several other ingredients then tossed it with neatly trimmed lettuce. Finally, he topped each salad with candied Meyer lemon, more shaved Parmesan, thin croutons and plump anchovies. There was also lemon zest dashed around the rim of the plate. I ate each leaf while instead of cutting it. Seemed easier that way. It had a nice balanced taste and was one of the better Caesar salads that I've had. The Filet Mignon was a bit rarer than the medium rare we requested. It had almost an Akami tuna like texture inside, which is not what you'd expect from beef. Possibly some aging broke it down to make it that smooth. They were very accommodating to take it back and fire it on the grill a little longer. It came back with the perfect amount of doneness. The horseradish sauce we added gave each bite a nice cream and spicy kick. We had an ode to the now extinct Orange Julius' signature flavor, orange and cream in the form of a soft serve sundae topped with a sugary macaroon and tart tangerines. It definitely brought back some memories. Thanks to the staff for making dinner for me and my mom a pleasant and enjoyable experience with their hospitality. For an upscale steakhouse and seafood establishment with exceptional service, Miller & Lux is a great option in the City.

This is legitimately the definition of fine dining. From the moment you walk to the table and sit…read moredown, it is top tier service. We were greeted by the sommelier who opened up the wine bottle we brought and also made some recommendations. She also brought over the champagne cart and I started the evening with a glass of the Collet Brut which was crisp and refreshing. A perfect palate cleanser to start off with the appetizers. The complimentary pop over is still one of the most delicious treats ever! It was brought over with a classic butter and a flavored butter that were just to die for. Now of course, the caesar salad is still a must here!! Prepared tableside this is part show, part experience, and full flavor bomb. I love watching the dressing come together and the freshness of every ingredient being used. Just the aroma of the olive oil and parmesan cheese is amazing. The Caesar salad was dressed to perfection and perfectly crisp! Also got the oysters, because they were an absolute knock out the last time we were here. And still one of the best! It is quite literally the cleanest and freshest oyster I've ever had. Our waitress did an amazing job of explaining the whole menu in great detail. For dinner entree, we went with the ribeye, served with bone marrow to split between 2 with a side of the mac & cheese and accompanied with creamed horseradish to give the steak an extra kick. To be honest, that steak needs nothing extra. It is "melt in your mouth" tender and extremely flavor. I love the addition of the bone marrow because it enhances the richness of the steak. The mac & cheese is also very indulgent and rich. We were way too full for dessert so we went with a ball of the espresso gelato and were given complimentary carrot cake bites which were soooo gooodddd. I wish I wasn't full because they're pastry chef is the best! Hands down the place for a 5-star lux dining experience!
