Mattioni is a great option if you don't care how much a repair costs, you want to be upsold on unnecessary services, and you want to learn how to fix common plumbing issues yourself. I called Mattioni to look at my toilet which was making a strange vibrating sound. Upon a quick inspection, they told me I needed a new filler valve and flapper. First, they tried to pitch me on their "membership" at least 3 times. Then they asked if I wanted to buy a new water heater. When it came time for my actual estimate, they priced rebuilding my entire toilet, which when pressed they admitted was completely unnecessary for my issue (but would "help with future longevity"). When I asked how much it would cost just to fix my specific issue (a new filler value and flapper), they came up with the insane cost of $480. I declined. For a $15 trip to the hardware store and about 10 minutes of work with a YouTube video, now my toilet works just fine. read more

Low quality company with inexperienced techs. They came out to do a tune up on my oil boiler and told me there was an issue with the emergency shut off valve, but that they don't fix that. I found a company that does fix it--when that company came out, they found nothing wrong with the emergency shut off valve. Mattioni just has no idea what they're doing. Same inexperience and low quality goes for my AC service. I no longer work with them. Boyle is great for oil furnaces and Cermignano is for AC. read more

While the company was responsive in coming out the on same day, I'd advise to be very careful. They attempted to charge me a $75 fee to just show up to give me a proposal of $1000 to simply supply and replace a gas range flex connection. The material cost would have been $40 and would have taken the tech under 20 minutes to perform the work. Yet they were going to charge $1000 and $75 service fee just to show up. I would have been happy to pay the $75 service fee if the price for the actual work was $300. I wouldn't go as far as to say that this company is a scam, but they are certainly trying to trap customers with a $75 (show up fee) and then overcharging them on the actual work. read more

Both times we've used this company they have not done the work we requested, instead upselling us to use the materials that they keep in warehouse. This most recent time convinced us this was just how they operate. They cancelled on us twice (informing us of this right at the end of the arrival windows both times) then when they did show up we were subjected to a salesman's pitch, turning a $600 filter installation job into a $4000 quote. We cancelled the quote after a couple hours, the day after this they charged our card for a portion of the cancelled quote and tried to keep it in our account as credit. Worst service Ever, especially if u take up their Annual Maintenance Contract. I have been rescheduled 3 times over months and every time they give the same BS excuse...heavy emergency calls. and they reschedule to 1 month out. Every time, a day before the service they will send a message one day prior stating the technician is coming tomo so make sure someone is at home. followed by a text message the next day that the technician is running late and followed by cancellation and then later on a call asking to reschedule. Everytime like clockwork. Once can be genuine, Two times, you start doubting and 3 times u know its all a farce. if you are like me and tries to look at people grievances in the reviews, my suggestion would be to take your business elsewhere. As a paying member, I was very disappointed with the response I got this year when I requested the biannual tuneup of my heating system. In the past, the staff was very good about contacting members to set up a tuneup in time to prepare for the upcoming heat or air conditioning season. This year, I called myself on October 29 and was told that the first tuneup was not available until January 20, which is already well into the heat usage season. I was told that this is because "we need to leave room for emergencies." Even with planning for emergencies, this timeframe seems ridiculous. If you have that many customers, you should do a better job of contacting them in advance so that paying members can get a tuneup in time for the next season. If you are understaffed, you should not be taking on new members. Not smart business. read more

It's been a few years, but I'm still really burned up about it. The shower was leaking in our master bath. I called Mattioni only because they were a local company that my father's construction company used in the past. The technician that was sent over had very little knowledge of plumbing. I knew what was wrong with the shower. The cartridge assembly behind the lever control needed to be replaced. However, the contractor that installed the original valve purchased cheap unnamed plumbing fixtures. I assumed the experienced plumber would know where to get it. The technician was up in my shower for an hour just trying to get the valve assembly apart I heard him on the phone with other technicians. I finally went upstairs and showed him how to take it off. I'm not an expert plumber, but I do know how to watch YouTube videos. Anyhow a half an hour later, he came back and told me the part was obsolete and I needed a whole new shower control at the low price of $1500. He spent about another hour walking around my house checking out the hot water heater, the water pressure, the heater the air conditioner. In the process broke two valves in the basement. I understand their plastic, but he turned them the wrong way. I literally asked him if he had any idea at all what he was doing? and found out he was no more than a salesman in training and totally unexperienced. he told me I needed a new hot water heater because it was becoming close to expiration that's great but my water upstairs in the shower is still running and I'm not gonna pay $1500. like I said I'm not a plumber, but I am an electrician so I know quite a bit about the trades. I finally ended up putting a valve right behind the showerhead to shut the water off. Cost me about 15 bucks. My wife did a little research on our neighborhood Facebook page evidently many people in the past few years have been going through the same thing. To make a long story short, the part is not obsolete. It's available through Amazon for $32 I would never suggest Mattioni pluming not even to flush a toilet they will probably charge you $800 for that service. I apologize I have been holding that in for a long time, I have never written a bad review about anyone. I had a heat pump installed and it is not heating as promised. They will not admit that it would never work properly. The upstairs was warm and the downstairs was 8 degrees cooler and the weather outside was 50 degrees. The thermostat was put in the wrong place and they kept on insisting that I didn't kmow what i was talking about. The customer service rep was rude and kept twisting my words. He had no intention of rectifying the problem. He blamed me. Also, they ruined my oak stairs. Also their wirkmanship is shoddy. They ran a wire in my basement that was so crooked it looked like a snake. They offered to put in a new oil furnace at twice the cost of another company. Charlatans. This company is unscrupulous. Technician arrives and after measuring the temp of airflow in my unit tells me further diagnostics are needed at a RATE OF $113 per FIFTEEN MINUTES in addition to labor and parts once issue diagnosed. False advertising as Mattoni advertises "charging for the job not by the hour". They were not honest and transparent about their hidden fees nor did they offer any customer service recovery once this was brought to their attention. read more

Mattioni attempted to scam us in November 2024 by saying our hvac was not functioning properly and brought in a supervisor to explain the issue and say we needed a new system right away. They were there for a tune up, which never happened. We could save money if we gave them $5,000 by the following day when their promotion ended. I said we've had zero problems with the system and I've never just signed a contract without getting other estimates and opinions. The supervisor stayed around for another half hour outside at the compressor for (measurements). During this time he apparently unplugged the capacitor herm and left it sitting inside the system. By the next day when the weather turned much colder our hvac was no longer working properly and made loud noises and the house was cold. Our electric bill was astronomical during that period of time. Finally got a second opinion within a few weeks and have photos of the unattached capacitor. Not only did they try to sell us an unnecessary new system, but fraudulently attempted to ruin our existing system. Use Mattioni at your own peril. The president of the company did not feel that fraudulent behavior by his employees deserved a follow up call. Absolutely despicable company. read more

Overestimated the time to complete an 9 hr job by scheduling a 16 hr window (2 guys x 8 hrs) and charged for 16 hrs regardless. I'd imagine they did the same for the materials, 60 feet of duct needed but they quoted 200. Got the job done, but probably twice the price of what it should have been. read more

I cannot recommend Mattioni at all. I've already observed a combination of dishonesty and exploitation, which means I simply cannot trust their word as 'experts' anymore. Our pilot light was off, but we had no idea. Our thermostat was off, HVAC was off, and we were dumbfounded. We called Mattioni on a Saturday; they first try to diagnose the issue over the phone, but ultimately say they need to come out. They come out and after a $125 service call fee, the HVAC tech notices the switch is off, and simply needs to turn off. He asks whether the operator asked me that before they sent him over; I say no. He's surprised nobody asked me to check this switch, since they should, but says he nevertheless has to charge us the $125 to literally...turn on a switch... It was a 10 minute appointment. Months later we had to replace a kitchen faucet. We call Mattioni. I ask how much this would be. The operator explains 'every faucet is different' and they cannot give pricing over the phone. They need the plumber to come by and 'diagnose' the 'faucet issue'. All of it sounded like a load of crap, but we needed a replacement asap, so we have them come over. I figure the price will be appropriate given we are also paying a $60 service fee just for them to make the trip. They quote us $429!!! For a FAUCET! I wasn't home at the time, but I literally rushed home to ask the plumber what the $429 was for. He said its a FLAT FEE FOR FAUCETS! Wait, so you mean to tell me the operator could have just given me this information BEFORE i had them come out?! He explains thats the 'national average' for faucet installations. Look, my husband and I own multiple properties and have had to hire contractors for a variety of issues, faucet installations included. The most I have EVER paid for a faucet installation was $200. $429 for a faucet is insane. That is not normal pricing. With their service fees, Mattioni almost forces your hand into using them. If they quoted us $429 and we said no, they'd leave but we'd still be on the hook for that $60. So while I understand someone from Mattioni is going to respond to this review and say "we gave you upfront pricing" -- that's not the case. I asked the operator TWICE what the price was and was lied to -- I was told they needed to send someone out (for $60) and only THEN could I get pricing. But if there is a flat fee for faucet installations, they should share that ahead of time so that customers like me could look elsewhere. I'm shocked by the lack of honesty AND really disappointed. I had hoped Mattioni was reliable and reasonable, and I had hoped we found our plumber, but we will need to keep looking for other options. I do not recommend using Mattioni. read more

They did generously offer a 10% discount if I enrolled in their contract services and agreed to monthly fee. What a deal! Resolution - Paid Mattioni their $75 show-up fee (aka sales pitch) and called my local plumber. My local plumber showed up in two hours, changed out the valve in 45 minutes and charged $168. read more

Since we have no desire to be sitting in July/August with no AC and on someone's list to get it replaced we decided to do it now. Mattioni was not the cheapest and not the most expensive. Do not use this company--the prices are outrageous and they do not stand by their work. They charged my $540 to install a kitchen faucet in December. I provided the faucet (brand new, Moen Essie), and it took the technician a little over an hour to install. $540 for an hour of work!! But wait, it gets worse.... The faucet came a little loose in June. (This is only 6 months later, mind you.) So I call Mattioni up expecting them to come and tighten it with no charge. Well, they inform me that there will be a $60 fee for coming out. I'm not happy about that, but okay. Today, a technician came and tightened some things in the faucet. They charged me an additional $120 for a "faucet diagnosing fee". Are you kidding me? They installed it less than 6 months ago and it took the technician about 1/2 hour to tighten some things. All said and done today, it came to $180. Here's the total math if you're curious. They installed a kitchen faucet for a grand total of $720. Does that seem reasonable to any person out there? I know that companies need to make money and pay their employees, I'm 100% for that, but this is price gouging. Again, I would highly, highly warn you against using this company. read more

STAY AWAY!! Rep came here to fix our AC unit and told us $100 in parts (which I confirmed was the price those parts were available for online), and a $250 total price for repairs and labor. Then they charged our credit card over $800 for those repairs and never sent us a bill. My husband called them to clarify and the reps blamed us saying that we are lying. I called our credit card company and explained to them what happened and sent them the prices of the parts the company replaced and they agreed it was egregious and agreed to charge back the difference on our behalf. Now I see this same bait-and-switch billing has happened to others on here as well. We're filing a complaint with the state. I would not recommend the VIP service or semiannual tune ups with Mattioni. They acquired the great local HVAC company that I had used for a while who I always had a great experience with. They kept the service contracts that we had in place with the previous group going for a period of time. I tried to schedule my A/C tune up in early April. They said the first available appointment that they had was not until June 7th, this was 8 weeks out but not a big problem for us. We coordinated work schedules to make sure someone could be home for this. At 6 PM the night before the scheduled tune up we were told that they were too busy with other jobs and we would need to reschedule. I did not think it would be a big deal thinking we would be rescheduled quickly since we had been on the schedule for a long time. We were told it would be another month before their first available appointment at that time. That would be 11 weeks from originally scheduling the first available tune up. I'm not sure how any customer is supposed to feel at all taken care of when they cannot schedule the maintenance that is part of their subscription plan until the middle of summer and cannot feel like their schedule is at all important when they have changed work schedules around specifically to make sure that their appointment that has been scheduled for months has someone ready for their arrival. Update: After taking another day off of work for the appointment that I was assured the company would be able to keep. I received a text message 2 hours into the arrival window that they would not make the arrival window but would definitely be there at some point in the afternoon. Update 2: After waiting for the technician to arrive in the afternoon I receive a text message at the end of the day saying the technician got busy with another job and they wouldn't be able to make it. Again having us take more time off of work to not show up. Again the next available appointment was a month out. Now 15 weeks after I asked them for their first available appointment. I am still unsure why they offer a service that they are not able to supply, especially showing no value to the time that people take away from work to be available for their appointments. read more

Due 2 limited characters, only post horrible highlights& use shorthand. I purchased new system from Mattioni 9/2023. I waited 1yr 2post review 2see if would resolve issues. They refused. My 16yr HVAC died Friday, 09/15/23. Emergently, I called them; a huge mistake. Rep came out & admitted he was just out at bar. Upfront, I informed him we had issues: with humidity, maintaining the temp on 3rd floor, & I needed house 67-68 degrees due2 medical issues. I explained my 3.5 ton system that died kept house 67/68 & struggled when temps were in 90s. He said zoning was not needed, system would handle all issues, a 2 stage/variable speed system was perfect 2 control humidity in 3 story house (this is not true). He said system wouldn't need zoned, would manage issues, keep 3rd floor cold, would manage humidity, would keep house where I wanted the temp. I told him previous HVAC group that installed system calculated 4.0 ton, but builder refused size. The sales rep told me, and I quote, "I know what I am doing, I have been doing this a long time. Trust me!" Multiple times, he heavily pushed most expensive, premium system. He said 3.5 ton was 2 large & is why system couldn't manage humidity. Said 3 ton was exact size needed numerous times, 3.5 ton was 2big. I believed him and chose the best system he recommended. He never mentioned permits were required 2 replace HVAC system- huge red flag! The install crew came Monday & problems started. They incorrectly installed Aprilaire 5000 airpurifier. Without permission, placed stone down 2 place outside unit on &shortened condensation line, which were against HOA & builder's code. They damaged expensive motorized dolly by sitting on it. Did not clean up all junk they brought in. Never sealed furnace/plenums correctly & unit leaked. Did not hook up thermostat correctly. After 2 days, system couldn't manage humidity at all. I negotiated them 2 place Aprilaire wholehome dehumidifier. It was wrong size per their Aprilaire rep; they refused 2 correct. It was installed incorrectly, & they couldn't figure it out after multiple visits. I fixed it w/help of online Aprilaire techsupport & the manual! This summer, system started freezing. Unit showed low pressure error codes from low refrigerant. They refused 2 replace refrigerant saying it's fine. They came out 2x & said nothing wrong w/system, unsure why house was hot & system always running. One of their techs, who said he was trained 2 size systems 4 houses, said it was undersized. They denied he said this. The system could not cool house when temps were over 90 outside, ran all day 24/7 for 2 months. Manager Greg refused 2 fix system. We had inside temps in high 80s when high 90s outside. I called HVAC system manufacturer, & rep said was undersized based on events. I threatened 2 sue Mattioni if they didn't fix system, &Greg refused. Instead, Greg did Manual J load calculation on house, he refused 2show me results. But I'm supposed 2believe he did it correctly. There are numerous articles/lawsuits online about unscrupulous HVAC contractors who ripoff customers by doing this. They alter calculations so their incorrectly sized system would fit their doctored Manual J calculation. Greg still refuses 2 show if he used correct measurements/variables. He admitted in email he used wrong temp when calculating Manual J. This would show smaller system needed. 4 independent HVAC companies cameout & listed HVAC system was 2small per Manual J, & low on refrigerant by 2 pounds. Mattioni wrote all 4 companies were not credible. But, Mattioni is? Please, avoid using Mattioni. Didn't pull permits- huge red flag. They did horrible work. Refused 2 back work quality/customer satisfaction, & they absolutely over charged me 4 a garbage system. There are much better companies out there! If I could, I'd give 0 stars. As a VIP client (meaning I pay over $160 yearly for a small discount), I would expect better prices. The personnel are courteous but they are working with a fixed administrative pricelist that is skyhigh. It's not the employees. I've had them now for a number of plumbing and HVAC issues and each time I call them I want to believe its going to be different but I can only watch them walk away thinking the negative reviews are so true. I STRONGLY recommend against using this company unless you don't care about money. But a sucker is born every minute and Mattioni proves it. We had them out for a simple tune up under their service contract. They called us. Once they came out - he came up and told me my heat exchanger needed to be changed, called a field supervisor to confirm it, told me that was dangerous, red tagged the unit, had me sign a waiver and lockout - basically wanted me to install a new furnace at 3,000!!! There have been no issues with the unit! this was supposed to be a winter tune up. Apparently, this is standard practice for them. I declined and I am having another company out. Called Mattioni because two of our toilets weren't flushing properly. They diagnosed mineral backup in the jets. For their 75 service fee, they said the problem wasn't fixable and that although the toilets were only seven years old, we would need two new toilets. Of course they would be happy to sell and install for over a thousand dollars. We checked it out and found the solution in many video's on You Tube. Long story short my husband fixed it with two bottles of CLR. I tried contacting the manager but he never returned my call. read more

I called due to an issue with a leaking drain line from a sink in the basement. The tech came out and explained the scope of work needed to replace the cast iron sink drainage line with a PVC line. The tech worked up a price along with a VIP membership which reduced the cost by 15%. The projected cost for a 3 foot drain line was over $1000. Needless to say I was totally shocked and asked what the labor charges were because PVC is inexpensive. The tech said they price by job not by time and there was no breakdown of the costs to see. I said thanks but no thanks. Fast forward, I called another company and the exact same scope of work estimate is $300. BEWARE of this company and their outrageous pricing. read more

Ryan arrived on time for the quote, spent a LOT of time explaining options and working up a quote on the spot, and had us scheduled for installation quickly. The quote was very competitive and I appreciated that it was one and done, meaning if any additional work was found to be needed during the installation, the quote did not change. Ryan was accessible via text for questions leading up to the installation, and gave me the reassurance I needed about the system I had chosen - a super sales person! Throughout the process the team at Mattioni was in touch to let us know the arrival status of the crew, and - especially impressive - gave us bio information about each of the techs in advance. Roto-Rooter wanted to charge me $8000 to excavate my yard and piping. Mattioni came in with a camera and found it was just a clogged drain. Ever since, I have been using their services for problems and heating and cooling maintenance and have been thoroughly satisfied. When the "working toilet" was flushed in morning, water/urine spewed out of the open septic pipe (Terry's temporary fix) into my basement. I would probably give them 2.5 stars and break it down as the following. Service - 4 stars Response - 5 stars Value - 1 star I had an semi-emergency where we had just moved into a new house and the shower head broke in our master shower. Additionally the Kitchen sink faucet sprayer wasn't working so I figured I would get the faucet replaced at the same time. I called and they were able to get me on the schedule within two days. I supplied the Moen fixtures/parts and they said they wouldn't warranty them - which I am totally fine with and completely understand. I would also understand if they needed to up-charge me a little for supplying my own fixtures as I am sure they make some money off of supplying fixtures. So here is where things go off the rails - the job took 2 hours and they charged me $850! So that breaks down to over $400 per hour for labor!!! If it wasn't for the situation where I needed the work done ASAP because I had just moved in, I probably would have not agreed to the quote. Now that we are settled and are in a better place to manage issues that come up with the house, the next time I need plumbing work, I will likely go elsewhere. read more
