Matto Espresso 530 Columbus Ave - My delicious Large Iced Matcha Oat Latte, Gluten Free Power Bar and small sweet treat!
    Mike R.

Love Matto Espresso! It's where you can get an inexpensive drink or small bite! Recommend you get the app to order, where some items can cost as low as $3! While my first time at this Upper West Side location, have frequented their other spots and can't wait until a day when I'll live closer to one! [Note - This relatively small location with only one small table outdoors.] This time, I had an excellent, refreshing, large unsweetened Iced Matcha Oat Latte and their tasty gluten-free Power Bar. It was ready when I arrived. They also game me a nice small sweet treat! As always, my Matcha really hit the spot! A fantastic combo! Recommend you check Matto Espresso out! Looking forward to my next trip to one of their locations!

The peppermint mocha was reasonably priced and the flavor was actually surprisingly good. Service was super quick.

Hello Matto ... I'm back! My first stop after I got off the train from the airport. Oh I needed that coffee! Ordered on my app and it was waiting for me in the counter. Great service... good fresh coffee. Buy 10 get 1 free. Couldn't find where my free coffee voucher went... but I found it! Got to live Matto... and I'm so happy Pistachio Cold Brew is still on the menu and not seasonal.

I absolutely love Matto. The prices are unbelievable, $3 for coffee & pastries. Plus everything is more healthy and better for you than other coffee places. They don't believe in putting sugar in everything, which I appreciate. The lattes, cookies, brownies, croissants, danishes, coffee... I love it All!

We went to Matto Espresso for the first time and it was great! I had heard about this bakery and wanted to try. How this bakery works is that you download their app and load some money, and if you place order form Their app, almost all pastries and drinks are $3-$4. We got their iced chai latte and two potatoes bureka for $10. They warmed it up for us and it was yummy! The portion was definitely good compare to the price and their chai tea tasted good as well! This bakery became my favorite and will definitely come back!

$3.80 for a banana date latte! Not bad at all. Tiny spot but lots of good options for cheap.

I arrived around 6pm right before closing which I usually don't do coffee/espresso that late. Anyway, the very friendly counter man allowed me in. I'm so grateful he did. My gluten free power bar was delicious! I can't wait to order it again. Btw, I'm Not opposed to gluten. I was a little skeptical but it was great! My iced mocha was good. Best of all it was $5.50! It's a very small spot on the UWS and I believe there is 1 table outside. It really didn't as I walked and found a bench near CP. I will definitely recommend this spot and looking forward to returning!

Matto Espresso on Columbus and 86th area is a nice sunny walk across Central Park from my neighborhood. I love the prices and the food is always delicious. The coffee is okay and I can't beat the price! I've been to a lot of Matto Espresso Stores and the customer service is always very good. If you are in the neighborhood drop in for a treat and incredible savings!

As a frequent Matto customer, I have visited almost all of the Matto's throughout the city, and this one is as good as all the others. With everything priced at 2.72 (including tax), the drinks and pastries are more than worth the price. I tend to order hot lattes or hot teas, but decided to try an almondy and iced mocha today, both of which were made very well. The place is very small, so there is little to no seating, but I sat outside with a friend for over an hour and there was no issue. Would definitely come back again.

Great place for cheap coffee, pastries, and sandwiches in the city. Everything in the store was $2.75 and $2.50 if you order on their app. I got a vanilla latte with oat milk (no extra charge for oatmilk) and a mozzarella ciabatta sandwich heated up which cost me $5.99. Great deal and great for on the go!

They also serve beer and wine, which I wasn't expecting. This location has both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice. The setup is mostly DIY since you throw away your own garbage and etc. But they do bring your food and drinks out to you. They also have a restroom for customers and a self serve tap water station with glasses, which I appreciated. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. It was alright, but I do think it could've used a little more flavor or seasoning.

The deluxe pho had all the meat fixings with homemade beef meatballs, thinly sliced sirloin, and pull apart brisket. The broth was very unique and flavorful, abit on the "dirtier" side (less clear but more umami flavor) sprinkled with kick of black pepper. Honestly I think it could compete with many broths. The noodles and toppings were standard. Overall perfect soup for a chilly rainy day. I only had some bites of the chicken pho but it tasted clean and soothing. The wings in their "pho" sauce were crispy but a little on the saltier side. Almost reminiscent of Korean fried chicken. Service: It was decent. Ambiance: Generally modern decor. Narrow with only about 5-6 tables of seating, so it can fill up fast. We had to wait about 10 min for a table to open up so we could get seated. One thing I found clever was the modular design of the tables that can come together to fit a slightly bigger party. Very unique!

Fortunatley the place was pretty quiet since it was 2pm and I got my orders in. For sandwiches, I ended up getting the Favolosa and the Italiana. The favolosa had a delicious artichoke cream and salami that was a banger. The italiana had all your great italian cured meats as well as a truffle cream sauce that made the umami bomb even more umami. So good! Here I am…read more The legendary Florentine sandwich shop achieved global fame by earning some of the highest praise in food journalism for its massive, fresh-baked schiacciata sandwiches. Google their name and "best" and get hundreds of hits, but the majors who crowned them "best sandwich" title include Saveur Magazine, the big one touted by the family; Eater NY, ranking La Paradiso the most elite Italian sandwich outside of Italy; Las Vegas Weekly, who crowned them "Home of the world's best sandwiches"; TripAdvisor, for whom the Italian original is the most reviewed eatery with a near perfect rating; and The Infatuation NYC guides who promise the execution of the crispy, airy schiacciata bread completely justifies the hype. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). Were they life-changing? No. But I rank Paradiso a 8.8 and Hot Italian a 10. And because everyone is hard-working and everything is so freshly prepared and cut, it's a class act. They should seriously make a sign that says, "Can't decide? Get two!" and then give me free sandwiches on my yearly trips for the idea.
