Wow!! what an efficient and pleasant experience - start to finish from purchase through delivery. My upstairs neighbor flooded my bedroom. I ended up with mold, and I had to replace my futon mattress. I contacted a number of local businesses, including one where I had purchased the original futon frame and futon mattress and was unsuccessful in locating what I want what I wanted. I contacted an organic cotton mattress business in Back Bay and was on my way there. I was walking by the Apple Store and what do I see? Mattress Firm! So I decide to stop in and that's where I met. I believe his name is Steve and he very quickly and very efficiently aided me in identifying a mattress, not a futon in the end, memory foam by Sealy and set up delivery for the next day. The purchase was economical including delivery and setup and included taking away my old mattress which I really appreciated because my condo was not being cooperative, even though we went through a week of students leaving mattresses outside. Mattress Firm sent out text notifying me of the upcoming delivery and on the day of the delivery a secondary notice letting me know they were a stop away. Couldn't be more efficient! the two delivery men were super nice. It was an extremely pleasant experience very swift. They put the mattress on the frame before leaving, and they even wore booties, which I really appreciated because I have a recently clean carpet. In the two weeks since I have made the mattress purchase, I've had the best sleep that I've had in five years again start to finish couldn't have been a better experience Mattress Firm Back Bay rocks. This is not about their Back Bay location. It's about Mattress Firm. One lying person after another. I was contacted to set up delivery of a mattress that was purchased for me. I wanted to make certain it was a medium firm. It was a medium. The person i spoke to stated, "However, of all their spring mattresses, this one is their best and more firm than other medium mattresses. It will be more firm with a boxspring". I said, it was for a slat bed and the slats are withon a 1/2 inch from one another. He said, I'd be very happy with it. Got the mattress. First night fell out of bed and damaged my spine. Thank God, I didnt get an unnecessary boxspring. Second night, I put pillows underneath around its frame, no different. Third night I put a board, worthless. No returning it. I weight just over 100 lbs still, my butt sinks into it. I can't even give it away! Going to Mattress Firm, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! read more

My husband and I were looking to buy a mattress and mattress base for our daughter and son-in-law near Madision Wisconsin. They had a few specifics that they wanted to be included in the purchase for the mattress and base. Luis walked us through all the options - he was very knowledgeable regarding the mattress types, foundations and frames. From their specifics he narrowed down the options making it easier to decide on the final setup. Specifically he did not try to oversell us as many other bed furniture stores have done. Never thought I'd give a mattress star a 4 star review. They have Purple mattresses here too, Purple was typically sold online only but its cool to try those mattresses out in person. I needed a new mattress and was super determined to get it online, and looked at brands like Casper, Purple, Nectar, Avocado etc. There are so many and I had no idea what I wanted. I wasn't sure if I would like a foam mattress as well. After trying out the Purple mattress her and traditional spring coil mattresses, I decided to go for the traditional one. I don't remember the name of the lady who helped us but she knew her stuff really well. After asking for budget, the way I slept, she found a mattress which I really liked. As a difficult shopper, I like to know everything else that is out there. I like to know all my options. She was very patient with me and let me try out Temperapedics which were way out of my budget, and various other mattresses. I ended up buying the first one she pointed out. Also, there was a great sale where you could get a king for the price of a queen! The whole mattress buying process can be very daunting and confusing. I had checked out a few stores before, including Jordan's which had some really cool machine, I think it was called Lisa. I read a whole bunch of online reviews which drove me nuts. Most certainly should have checked reviews on here before shopping. First and foremost the most effective way to communicate with Sleepy's/Mattress Firm is through their live chat, and they are a sales team. Day 1: I bought 2 mattresses from Sleepys.com on Black Friday in the afternoon and was told, via email, that someome would call me to schedule the delivery. Well, that call never came... Day 4: The chat team told me that they had 72 hours to call me back to resolve the issue, okay so I wait. Day 5: Still no call... Day 6: Finally was able to schedule my delivery through the chat system, only after telling the manager (over chat) that if delivery wasn't scheduled by end of business that day and over an hour on their service that randomly drops calls, I was going to cancel my order. My delivery was scheduled for the following Friday afternoon, so for a company that promises that they can deliver a mattress the same day... I got a call later that night to schedule my delivery... Day 15 (yeah 15, 9 days later): I left work on Friday at lunch to receive my mattresses, both of them. My delivery team was good, they delivered one mattress though. Turns out that when the order was converted from a Sleepy's to Mattress Firm order, they cut it down to one mattress. So, to my dismay, I had to call their help line. This time it wasn't terrible got service in 15 min and was able to schedule the remaining delivery within 35 min, for the following Sunday and was given my delivery window time. Day 17 (today): Now I sit and wait for a mattress delivery that I bought over 2 weeks ago, before my delivery window time that I was notified about because I got an automated call saying that my mattress would be there in 15 minutes. That call came in over an hour ago. I will NEVER recommend you guys to anybody. This is terrible customer service and I certainly regret doing business with you. read more

Why can't a person walk in and out of a mattress store without feeling like they just got scammed? No matter what deals are running and what deals they cut you, you KNOW you're still getting ripped off. Period. This location is deceivingly small. It's large storefront makes it appear much larger than it actually is. Walk in, and it's a narrow hallway dotted with a few Tempurpedics and Sleepy's exclusive brands. Then, up to the top floor, where the mattresses you actually want - and can afford - are located. I visited one other Sleepy's location before buying a mattress here. And I would have bought it at the other location, if it weren't for how we got the run over at the previous location (see my other Sleepy's review). There's not too much to say. The sales guy was somewhat friendly (you can tell when people are faking it). The selection was somewhat decent (it actually really sucked). The prices were almost bearable (you know for a fact they are way marked up). All in all, we got him to give us our $90 base frame for free. WHOOPIE! Still had to pay $90 for delivery and $1000 for the bed and box spring - at 40% off, mind you. I WILL say the bed is the most comfortable thing I've ever laid myself down into, hotel beds included. (Sealy Posturepedic Euro Pillow Top). You know what else I will say? We picked that mattress out ourself. Do not, do not, do not rely on anyone to tell you what kind of bed you need or "fits you". You must have an idea of what surface you're most comfortable sleeping on. Or at least I would hope, after doing so for at least 20 years. Again, see my other review for more details on the "sleep analysis" experience. Bottom line is: tell the sales person to leave you alone. Go lay on all the beds. Figure out what feels the best. Then try to get things for free. Frame. Pillows. Delivery. It's all game. You know it. They know it. Joust! Because at the end of the day, you're still paying too much for the bed. read more

We attempted to order a Tempurpedic mattress directly from the Tempurpedic company. We placed our order weeks in advance and informed them of our moving date and requested that our mattress be available on our move date - they responded, "No problem!". Well we through out our old bed and hit the road in our U-haul and they day before moving in, we called them and they said everything should be delivered as expected and to call and check with the delivery company. We called them and apparently our mattress hadn't been received so they informed us it would take approx 10-14 days for a new one to arrive at our new apartment. We told them about how we had already thrown away our old mattress and they didn't apologize even once. Soooo....(apologies for the long story), I used my handy iPhone to look up a mattress store in the Boston area. This one is the first one that popped up. I asked about the exact Tempurpedic mattress system (same price!), and I asked how quickly we could get it delivered to our new apartment so we wouldn't be sleeping on the floor. They said they would have it out to us as soon as we arrived to our new apt and you know what, they did! They set up everything for us and gave us some tips for our new bed! We were sooooo pleased with their help and we love our Tempurpedic mattress! :) read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I have NEVER felt more taken advantage of. The salesman seemed nice and helpful at first, and I quickly purchased my mattress and walked out the door thinking it was a painless process. Then, I looked at my invoice that was emailed to me, and the guy charged be for a boxspring WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME. I realized that I never saw the invoice when he told me the total, so I had no idea what exactly was being charged. in addition, he didn't give me the choice to pick it up in the store, nor did he tell me up front what the delivery fee was. I understand that maybe I should have grilled the guy about each charge, but I am a recent grad buying my first bed and I didn't think he would take advantage of me so horribly. I AM HORRIFIED that people actually do this to customers, just because someone like me is young and inexperienced. I would give this location 0 stars if I could because I will never order from Sleepy's again or recommend anyone I know buy from here. While my salesman was fine the experience and run around I experienced regarding my delivery was a disaster. The truck failed to deliver my mattress on a Saturday where my window was 12-4 wasting my entire day only to let me know at 11PM that they were not going to make the delivery. They then failed again to redeliver on Monday from 12-4 and called me at 730 to ask if I still wanted the delivery. I was not home so I did not get the mattress either. I then personally called Brent Tafoya's cell phone, VP of Customer Care, to escalate this issue to the highest level. While he did arrange the mattress for delivery, he led me to believe that he would find an arrangement to take care of all my time wasted. (upwards of 15 hours of time I lost) I tried to follow up with Brent but he never returned my call. Very disappointed. read more

We found this store to be insanely pushy and pretty insulting. We told them our budget, and they repeatedly suggested that by budgeting $1,000 we were inadequately "investing in our sleep." As other reviewers have noted, the salespersons are never up front with you. While I understand that's part of the game in any industry, it's particularly egregious at Sleepy's-- they follow a manipulative script, speak as if they're scientists of your comfort (note: they're not. you are.), and are perfectly happy lying to you to make a sale-- especially by faking a phonecall to an alleged warehouse, which of course happens to have "the only mattress left- and, just for you, at a discount--but only if you buy it right now!" Save time, save money, and sleep well -- go down the street to Sleeparama. read more

I had one of the best shopping experiences ever dealing with Jack, he is definitely a star. He went the extra mile, more than once to make sure that we received the perfect mattress for our needs. Unfortunately, in the end, we decided not to keep the mattress for now due to back pain issues and having a hard time adjusting to different mattresses, and in the interim will be using a spare mattress. The Mattress Firm exchange policy is better than other mattress stores, and was honored without question. Jack was very understanding of the situation and tried to do everything to make sure everything was right. I highly suggest you go in and try their Mattresses, I will definitely be going back. Sleepy's definitely has their system down. This one is in a tall, thin brownstone so they start you on the first floor with a sleep test and lie-down on the super awesome extra-technological memory foam dual spring whatever whatever for $3000 and then you slowly work your way up the stairs and into the depths of the store to the less and less fabulous mattresses. By the time you get to the top you feel poor and disappointed about the paper-thin, tough-as-nails bed you can barely afford which will probably only last a few years and will surely cause awful back pain for the rest of your life. Well, maybe I exaggerate a little... All in all, I didn't have a horrible experience with Sleepy's. The salespeople were nice and seemed honest to me, inexperienced mattress buyer that I am. They called a few weeks ahead to schedule delivery time and even showed me a comparable bed to one I had found online to reassure me of my decision. They also didn't charge us the extra delivery fee for living on a higher floor and gave us sale prices after the fact. My main beef with them is that they have this wonderful policy where you can downgrade your mattress at any point up to the time of delivery. After spending way too much on the first go-around, we took advantage of this because they had promised to give us the sale prices after the sale was over. 5 weeks and several calls to the store later, and I still had not been credited several hundred dollars for my cheaper mattress. Annoying to say the least. Eventually I found out that it was because the amount would not be credited until the mattress was actually delivered, but this stipulation wasn't listed in any paperwork and took 4 calls to the store to discover. It's smaller than many other Sleepy's locations but I went because of it's ridiculous proximity to my apartment and because of the sale going on. Just be warned that the mattresses advertised on the sale flyers for $299 will be the ones on the very top floor in the very back. And you know what that means... read more

Went to boylston street for a very common request- full bed for $300-$600. The salesperson was unable to tell us whether that sort of mattress was in stock. But, you might ask, isn't that what this business does? If you are trying to sell something, shouldn't you know whether you actually have the thing? Well after some pressure, he called another sleepy's location, but the employee there said "the stock rooms are a total mess, so we can't help." Our original semi-functioning salesperson told us we could just get overnight shipping and they'd drop it off the next day; for a significant extra charge. Not only could they not tell us what they had in stock, they couldn't communicate between stores to figure out whether another store had something, and their solution was for us to give them more money for a delivery fee while I had a car sitting in front of the store. The team at Mattress Firm and Jack specifically deserve a five-star rating for their attention to customers, their ability to turn the mattress-shopping experience into a truly enjoyable experience, and the level of help and information they provide through the process. I've been shopping for a mattress for months. I've visited stores in Boston and New York as part of the process (I was operating on a relatively long timeline)--including some of the higher end stores here in Boston's Back Bay--and my experience with Jack at Mattress Firm topped each of the other ones. Jack guided me through a testing process merely to confirm that what I thought I was looking for (medium firm) was, in fact, what I enjoyed from a comfort perspective and what was best for my spine alignment. After we narrowed in on a style, Jack was very helpful in having me try different mattresses that fit the medium firm profile albeit at different price points and with relatively different technologies. Suffice it to say, I wasn't really planning to pull the trigger on a purchase when I went into Mattress Firm, yet I did. The customer service was great, I was in and out very quickly, and David was able to help me quickly find a mattress that was perfect for me and in my price range. Oh man, going in here was like shopping for a car, but without the free coffee. Was the over-the-top hard sell the most annoying aspect? Perhaps the condescension when I noted that no, I don't plan on spending $2000 on a mattress? (plus $200 for a box spring!) After I moved, I needed a simple bed frame for our spare bedroom. It took me three trips to Sleepy's to make it happen. Three very frustrating trips. The first time I came in, I waited patiently for almost ten minutes to be helped. When I first came in, the store actually appeared to be deserted, but the only employee on staff was on one of the upper levels with a customer. Once I realized that, I settled in on the edge of a mattress to wait. Finally, he is able to help me, but when I tell him what I want, he lets me know that all of the basic bed frames are sold out. My options are to buy a more expensive frame, or leave empty-handed. I choose the latter. The second time I came in, there were two salespeople working. However,both of them were helping customers. I waited over 20 minutes, then finally left. I just didn't have any more time to hang around. The sales guy on the lower level tried to talk me into staying, which meant he was also interrupting his conversation with the person he was helping. I don't necessarily blame the staff for being busy, but I wonder if one of them might have rung up my purchase while their prospective customer tried mattresses out for a few minutes. I'm not sure why the salespeople have to observe that process so closely. There was also one sales guy who was out of the store, and the guy at the desk called him several times to try to get him back (I was not the only customer waiting). From what I could hear of the conversation, the missing guy was at the Apple Store next door and just couldn't tear himself away. The third time I went in, I finally got what I wanted. This time I waited just under ten minutes. Of course, the checkout process is a huge chore. I had to provide a ridiculous amount of personal information to buy the $60 bed frame. It probably took me 7 minutes to complete the paperwork. And of course the sales person tried to gauge my interest in a mattress. You're probably wondering why I came back here two more times after my first experience. I'm wondering that too! No, seriously--I don't have a car, and Sleepy's is so close to my house. If I had failed at my quest for a bed frame a 3rd time, I would have gotten a Zipcar or ordered from Amazon. As it is, Sleepy's is so convenient to where I live that it was easy to stop in. I almost feel bad giving the place one star, since the bed frame itself is ok and the price was right. But the service was just so incredibly poor here. I really can't imagine how the business survives with so little attention to customer care. I will definitely not be returning to Sleepy's for any future mattress or bedding needs. read more

My boyfriend and I were helped by Mervin and Mark at Mattress Firm Back Bay. In store, they were friendly and helpful, but the delivery process has frustrated us beyond belief and Mark has been very unhelpful over the phone in coordinating the delivery. Initially, we were told that the mattress could be delivered by the next day. However, when we checked out, the mattress unfortunately was backordered and we scheduled delivery for 5 days later. We were a bit disgruntled, but it wasn't a big deal at that time. Our frustration escalated when the night before delivery, we received a call saying the order would be further delayed another 3 days. However, we appreciated that they communicated with us and we dealt with the delay despite being without the mattress in a new apartment. They said we would receive a call on the day before the new scheduled delivery date to provide a more specific delivery time. We never received that call, and we called the store the moment they opened on the day of delivery. Mark answered again and told us that our order would be delayed yet another 4 days. Though Mattress Firm had not received the mattress last night, they failed to communicate this to us and we expected to have it delivered today. Clearly they are terrible at communicating with their customers, and made empty promises about the delivery date when we placed the order in the store. They were not very apologetic and despite our asking, did not offer any compensation for the trouble that we are going through. I really hope they deliver on the new date, but honestly no longer trust them to do so. read more

Corporate customer service policy on defective returns is awful. Bought a mattress set in May and by October it had large depression areas. A company came in and took measurements and it was deemed defective. I got a full credit from Sleepy's to use only with Sleepy's which I was OK . We chose a new mattress set and I was appalled to find out that I had to pay another $99 delivery charge. I called corporate and they would not budge on the charge. I was told it was in the manufacturers warranty. It was not my fault I was sold a product deemed defective. How can a customer ever be satisfied after that ??? Just went into Sleepy's in the Back Bay and both my boyfriend and I were very pleased with the overall experience. This location had a surprisingly big selection and was well maintained. Spencer was working at the time and was helpful, knowledgable and courteous. He knew when to interject, pointed us in the right direction based on our price range and was a pleasure to work with. Not once did I feel pressured to buy anything I didn't want. Financing options and T's and C's were all laid out clearly and concisely. Hopefully delivery goes just as smoothly, so far I would highly recommend this location. read more
