Best Hawaiian muffins ever! So good. Dong pass up on the lillikoi bun either! Service was quick and very kind. It's in a cute little plaza by snorkel bobs and that's a wrap. It's a must!

My wife and I were a big fan of this place during our stay in Maui! My wife loved the banana bread, it was delicious and moist! I love the ube mochi. It had strong ube flavors and the texture was perfect. Parking is a small lot but enough parking. I highly recommend when you're in Maui!

We love this bakery, and make sure to visit it several times during our visit to Maui. It's always a good idea to get there early before everything is gone. I especially love their macaroons and extra long coconut biscotti, but this year I found their Chocolate Pretzel Croissant outstanding!! The salty and sweet just made it perfect. Of course their breads and rolls are yummy too! Staff is always helpful and welcoming. We'll be back next year.

Every visit I have in Maui I stopped by for their ginger Cookie. Every encounter I have is pleasant. Today I came in to take some for my workers to try their POG bread for our red eye flight back. The very special person Elfie helped me choose some options. I was glad to try some Macadamia Cookie, Ginger Cookie and Pog loaf bread. This shop has the best breads. Parking lot is small and shared with quite a few shops but people seem to come and go alot so be patient and you'll snag a spot. There is so much to choose from I picked the cinnamon roll and a lilikoi filled pastry. There are a few tables outside but decided to take them home. Both were SO good, I will definately buy these again. The cinnamon roll was so soft and tender and the pastry had so much filling. Be sure to go early for the best selection they sell out quickly of many items. There is usually a line of people waiting for them to open at 7.

Another visit to Maui and another beautiful morning on the beach with a breakfast treat from Maui Bread. They have many options to choose from. It's hard to walk away with only one or two items. They have some warm items like ham and cheese twist, pineapple and cheese twist. Oh no, I am making myself hungry, might need to go back.

Cute little shop with fresh pastries- definitely worth the stop. We ordered the Pina colada sweet bun, pretzel croissant, and Pineapple & ham twist. The bread is so soft when you bite in to it. The pina colada sweet bun is moist and has pineapple & coconut shavings- I would order this every time. The pretzel croissant perfectly flakey, soft, & salty. We love visiting Maui Bread company when we're in Kihei! There are plenty of breads and pastries to choose from. They also have a lovely display area with little jars of jellies, butters, and chutneys with different flavors - lilikoi (passion fruit), guava, mango, and coconut pineapple! We got the Lilikoi Sweet Bun, Pina Colada Sweet Bun, and the Paprika, Onion, Cheese Roll. While we enjoyed them all, the Pina Colada Sweet Bun was my personal favorite. The Lilikoi Sweet Bun was pretty tart and was FILLED with lilikoi jam.

Let me tell you, when it comes to finally finding a bakery where the bread and pastries blast my pallet right back to Germany, little did I expect it across the street from the beautiful beaches of Kīhei. The best part of this business is Frau Elfi. She's a passionate about her craft, very hardworking, and is surrounded by an all star staff. Setting is beyond words, grab your delicious meal on the go, or walk across the street and sit and enjoy it overlooking the ocean. It's incredible all around, just make sure to respectfully throw your trash away properly, once you're done enjoying your "pastries with a view".

Really cool counter-service bakery with baked goodies. The coffee selection is limited with one hot and one cold option. I had the sweet roll guava in the middle and the guava juice. Both were not overly sweetened and were a huge portion in my opinion (sorry for no pic, next time). Seating is outside and the staff is supppppper friendly. You can smell the baking dough from the parking lot. There is ample free parking and other shops in the complex to visit. I would totally recommend!!!!

We came here a couple of times during our time here and thought overall the baked goods were pretty good. We had the macnut muffin, pretzel croissant (both sell out frequently we were told), the chocolate croissant, and the cheese, paprika and onion bread. The macnut muffin was the best of these pastries. Very fresh and good but also more like a muffin top since it's small. The pretzel croissant lived up to its name and tasted like both things -- was good but it had a bit too much salt. The cheese bread had too much onion in it and the seeds in it were a pleasant surprise (even though the ingredients did not list the seeds). The chocolate croissant was a huge disappointment. It was literally a croissant cut open and filled with chocolate chips -- the chocolate was not even melted. The staff here are friendly and it's nice that have ku'ia chocolate here -- we went on a chocolate tour on a prior visit and it was nice that they sold the chocolates there without having to go to that chocolate store. It's very good chocolate!

I had never stuck my entire face inside a paper bag just to inhale the smell of a warm loaf of Hawaiian bread, but the sweet, sweet smell of coconut, carrot, pineapple, and raisin was too much for me to resist. It was absolutely surreal experience. Maui Bread was a pleasant surprise that I wish I had discovered earlier during our vacation. Fresh breads. Pastries. Cinnamon rolls. Other baked goods. However, that modest little $7 loaf of Hawaiian bread was one one of the single most delicious things I consumed all week. No joke. Please keep up the amazing work. Pastries are on the pricey end but when you consider the generous portions, it's not that bad. Got the Hawaiian pound cake which they should rename The Heavenly Hawaiian. It's a hodge podge of delicious things: coconut, macadamia nuts, pineapple, raisins, and carrots. Might sound a bit strange but it's delicious. Delicious! A little on the pricey side, but to be expected from most bakeries. Around $6 for the bread, $4 for the mini pie, $5 for the flavored breads. The bread was good, but not a super sour sourdough. I really enjoyed the POG bread and mochi (mochi wasn't too chewy, more of a butter mochi I think). Hawaiian bread (with coconut, carrot macadamia nuts and raisins) and macadamia pie were good as well. I'd definitely like to come back to try more of their goodies! I hate myself for loving carbs an unnaturally large amount. I also hate myself for not coming here more often because I've had this bookmarked but never made it over until the day before we left. Butter mochi (pumpkin flavor) was my favorite, but just a tiny bit too sweet. Mac nut cookie was good - I wish I'd gotten something with chocolate chips instead, as this tasted kind of plain. Brownie was a bit on the dry side for me. Next time we go, we'll definitely go here first instead of eating a full breakfast first because then we'll be able to try more things. Solid place to pick up some treats on the go, or to bring back home for the family (they said the cookies will last a few days). read more

We stopped by on our way from dinner and picked a coconut loaf for breakfast. The bakery was cute, neatly organized, all goods attractive packaged. There was a somewhat overwhelming variety of different cookies, pastries and breads. The following morning we had the coconut loaf with coffee - without a doubt this was the best coffee cake I ever had! Tender soft, with slivers of coconut throughout, moist and so delicious. Simply excellent! read more

It's a clean bakery to get local bakery treats. It is expensive! Over $5 for a cookie. I don't think so. Especially for being in a glorified strip mall. The Hawaiian roll was good. Probably won't be back. read more

Their bread is decent if you are looking for German style bread (not incredibly flavorful, very dense) but absolutely do not order croissants here and expect them to be any good. Also the owner can be quite brusque. If you are looking for breakfast items I would instead suggest going to Akamai coffee in Kihei. Their Mochi waffles and croissant breakfast sandwiches are amazing in comparison. read more

Great place to grab a quick breakfast. I don't have a sweet tooth so I didn't get to try many of the sweet pastries. I got the ube mochi which tasted like ube but it was dry and did not have that mochi texture. The ham and pineapple twist, bacon twist, and Portuguese sausage were great! We stayed in Maui for a week and came here twice. Once on a weekday and another on a Saturday. Do beware that the prices of their goods are different on the weekends. It's about $1.00 -$1.50 more when we went on a Saturday, which we were okay with. read more

What an amazing experience! My wife and I visited here on our honeymoon and tried the Hawaiian muffin and pretzel croissant. Ate them both in our car and loved the croissant so much that we went back in and bought 4 more! One of a kind! Alfi was so sweet and even gave us a great hiking recommendation. Wow. This place. So so great. We love the Maui Bread Co. We were staying with great friends who happen to be gluten free eaters. We came upon this place accidentally. We bought some gluten free baked goods to take back to our hosts. We also bought some non gluten free goodies to eat while we were exploring the beautiful paradise, Maui. I just happened to find MY FAVORITE COOKIE EVER!!! The Coconut macadamia cookie. So soft....so cake like.....so delicious! It was heavenly! We tried the gluten free goodies later. They were also pretty tasty. Especially the brownie. We went back the next morning and tried some savory goodies... also yummy. A ham and cheese roll with sweet bread and a coconut bun. So good. We went back before leaving Maui to get more cookies to take back home! My only problem with this bakery is I can't have those cookies shipped to my home in Utah!!!! read more

Overpriced and overhyped. This place cannot compare to 85 Degree Bakery or Paris Baguette from SoCal or Bay Area in California. Small shop with limited savory pastries selection. I came right when they opened at 7am and they didn't have ube bread. When my husband asked for the bbq pork char siu because we saw an older Yelp review that they have it here, the ladies behind the register had no idea what bbq pork bun is. The Hawaiian muffin was good but not worth about $5 bucks for. The loaf bread is the size of your palm for $7. You can save time in line and save money and get your tropical pastries and ube mochi bread at Foodland down the street or pastries at Safeway bakery department. read more

Was not planning on buying anything but the smell of fresh baked sweet bread lured me in and the very sweet German ladies sold me on a loaf of Hawaiian bread. Holy. Cow. This was delicious. Pineapple, raisins, carrots, and probably crack. Sounds like a strange combo but it was SO good (and I'm not a big raisin fan since I'm usually hoping it's a chocolate chip). Great homemade breads and pastries at a very reasonable price! They have items from regular loads, to sweets to savory breads. They have homemade syrups to top it off! The owner is very nice, they have tasters of multiple items, and it was hard to walk away with only one thing. The shopping center has a great view of the ocean, even though you are sitting in a parking lot :) read more

Incredible German quality bread. Bakery sells out early because it's that good. Owners gracious enough to show us the kitchen and the ovens used were top notch. These hard working Oma's are the real deal and love to support this company when in the area. Love their tropical mustards as well. read more

Came across this nice bakery after exploring Kamaole Beach (three parts to it), and Maui Bread has some really unique and local selections that you don't want to pass up. There were a number of different pastries and selections that I could have chosen from, but ended up going with their pineapple bread which was sweet and delicious. Prices are also pretty good and reasonable, and so is their service! read more

This place is a gem! We've been 3 times in less than a week and we hope to go again. Don't pass up on this place. Our absolute favorite was the Almond Coffee Cream filled muffin.... the coconut bread is excellent as was the bun filled with banana and chocolate ganache on top. The almond cream filled croissant was also very good. Basically we liked everything. The staff is friendly and helpful, really a great place all in all. We will be back read more

Chicken and green chill baked bun was fantastic. Have a beef brisket bun stored away for later. My wife had the artichoke and pesto bun with an iced coffee ( with coconut milk). Great beach lunch, we'll be back soon. We have now searched the island for Manapau buns and this place is our favorite. It was also the closest to us so no more exploring the island next time we have a craving. read more

In search of the perfect place to open up a German Bakery, Christine and Steve visited the four major Hawaiian islands in late 2019. It was more than a coincidence that they met the owners of Maui Bread Company at that time. When they heard what Steve and Christine were looking for and the German couple heard what they own, all jaws dropped. Originally, it was not planned to sell the bakery. But after some conversations it became clear that Maui Bread Company would be the perfect platform to introduce "German Artisan Bread" as an additional product line. The ownership changed at the beginning of 2020.

Meet the Business Owner: Steve and Christine L.

Founded in 2016 and owned by a local family as a Fusion Gourmet Bread Shop, Maui Bread Company LLC was and still is passionate about baking and our customers! During the first 4 years of its existence, we have introduced products with Hawaiian and Asian influences. We are well known for our local flavors, our Aloha's, and our unique ability to combine the best of Eastern and Western baking. Many customers call us the gluten-free authority on Maui. No matter what the product is, we sincerely believe quality is everything. The ownership changed to the German couple Christine and Steve at the beginning of 2020. The team of the bake shop consisting of local experts has been added by two German Master Bakers. And new equipment from Germany has been added to the bake shop. Also, expect a 3% service charge for the back of the house. Really, for the prices they charge for mahi fragments you could pay those people without a surcharge. Portions here are tiny. My mahi fragments were dry, over spiced and served with two unseasoned baby bok choi leaves and a slice of grilled tomato. For the price of almost $40.00. The beer was good and so was our server so they got one star for that. Otherwise, this place is touristy, overpriced and the maitre d' is slow on the uptake. Overall, there are plenty of great restaurants on Maui, recommend you try one of those.

Friendly service with a small variety of a lot of different baked goods. Different breads such as banana walnut (very heavy on the walnut ingredient) pineapple, POG and a few others. A few different types of cookies, scones, and granola. During breakfast there are a few warmed baked goods such as the bacon braid or chili and cheddar bun. All items baked in house with fresh ingredients however prices are higher than I'd expect (think $4 per cookie, and almost $6 for a personal size loaf of bread). I would not go out of your way but might consider if you're in the area already. read more

I was disappointed in this place. I was excited about the GF options. I tried the lilikoi Mochi-I do not recommend. It tasted almost perfume-y. I tried the ube Mochi-I do not recommend. It was extremely dry, hard, and tasted like a sponge. The GF banana bread was nice and soft. It was good but it had a strong cinnamon(?) like taste so I got sick of it quickly. I think the mochis were extremely overpriced. I took the ube and lilikoi butter home and they were so good!! The employees here are pleasant but it's very overpriced as far as the GF items. read more

This is the best bakery I have been to in many years. I like bakeries but they are almost all the same. This one is very good. Many things and fresh and cheap. I like the small bread they bake in the morning. Many flavors. I like the coconut and the Kdog. This is our family's breakfast place everyday for one week now. Finally something original in Kihei ! If you feel like getting some breads for breakfast or simply get good bread, then you must go to the Maui Bread Company. They do a fusion bread that honers Maui, the texture is in between east and west. The flavor range from sweet mango to salty and savory. read more

The best fresh bread in town! They have multi grain, sourdough, white, and cinnamon raisin. My favorite is the multi grain. You can also buy them in 1/2 loaves. They are so much better price than even the regular markets. A must stop. read more
