Ordered the family meal for pickup on yelp/grubhub. The estimated pickup time was very long and never updated, but going early the food had definitely been sitting a while. Been getting the family meal for a long time now and everything has gone downhill significantly. The amount of food seems less and the quality was much worse. The BBQ chicken was burnt, dried out and overly salty. Beef short ribs were OK but with potential to be amazing if just cooked better. The amount is small but I understand that is where we are with beef prices. The chicken katsu used to be excellent but it was soggy and lacked flavor with much of the breading falling off and less chicken. Horrible! This place went downhill. The prices are HIGH and quality LOW. Food takes a while to make which wouldn't be a problem, if it wasn't overcooked and horrible. Ramen tastes like cup o noodles, dont bother. Salmon is dry and awful, don't bother. Chicken was overcooked as well. This has been our go-to local spot for Hawaiian plate lunches for years. We usually get the family meal which consists of six scoops of rice, six scoops of Mac salad, and your choice of three meats. The price has increased over the years and is currently just shy of $60. We've always enjoyed the food, but lately have been pretty disappointed in the quality. On the past three occasions, when we have ordered the family meal, our teriyaki chicken and grilled chicken have always been burnt. I understand the chicken is grilled, so naturally will have char marks, but lately the chicken has been almost 70 to 80% black to the point where it is basically inedible. I'm surprised they are even willing to serve the chicken when it is that charred. We end up throwing the chicken out which is a waste because then we only get two meats even though we're paying for a selection of three meats. I typically don't like writing negative reviews, but this has happened on multiple occasions recently so felt it should be shared in case anyone wants to avoid burnt chicken. The staff has been a hit or miss, not much personality but professional. Spam Masubi - 3/5 There was a lot of rice and a thin slice of spam. It could've used some extra seasoning but my son just used some teriyaki sauce California Rolls - 3/5 While the rolls were large, the seaweed was too chewy and hard for my toddler to eat. She doesn't have this problem with any other California rolls she's had at any restaurant. The sushi rice was dry Hawaiian BBQ Chicken - 3.5/5 The chicken had good flavor, but cutting the chicken to share with my toddler was harder and she didn't find the texture appealing. The cooked veggie bed below the chicken was good, but wish they were a bit more generous with the veggies. We had a single carrot piece and a few pieces of cabbage. When I started eating the chicken it felt extremely salty but we had ordered two chicken plates so we still ate it. I've eaten here several times and recently catered a draft party for my friends. My go to here is the katsu, chicken teriyaki, rice and mac salad. I've tried the beef, fried shrimp, and some other items, but recommend sticking to the basics. These items fill my craving for island food. Chicken was moist and tender as the short ribs and the best was probably the best i had from a hawaiian food place. The mac and rice were very good. They have self serve sodas. I was very impressed here. They share a lot with many many other places so no issue parking. Portions are solid and sauce bar is a nice touch as you can get as much as you want. I placed an order for three items today at 11:10 AM. Two of them were grilled salmon with salad and rice, and the other was grilled mahi-mahi with salad. The person who took my order said it would take about 20 minutes, so I expected to pick up the food by 11:30 AM. However, even at 11:30, the food wasn't ready. At 11:40, I asked when it would be ready, and they just said it would be out soon, so I kept waiting. Frustrated, I requested a refund at 11:48 AM, and the food finally came out at 11:50. A person who seemed to be the owner came out of the kitchen, visibly irritated, and scolded the person taking the order, asking why it was taking so long. There was no apology, and instead, the owner glared at me and stormed into the restroom. I was honestly speechless. On top of that, the mahi-mahi was so dry and tough, it felt like chewing on rocks. I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. If you're considering going here, please think twice. read more

This is similar to L&L, but here are some differences... 1) they offer about 14 other sushi rolls and sushi bowls. 2) Seafood noodle soup, salad, and lots of fried seafood options as well. 3) Grilled cabbage. They actually grill it for you, instead of just raw at L&L. Tastes so much better. One star knocked down due to cashier staff being "short" and annoyed when I and anyone else places an order. I don't know what it is, but she's just not happy. She seems to be the only staff i see when i come here, please, get her some help. She's been pleasant some times, so it's a hit or miss type of deal. Other thing is the food takes longer than other similar places. Sushi rolls can take up to 30 minutes to 45 minutes to make.
