Wow, what a trip! I'm not sure if all the stars aligned just right, or if it just happened to be the luck of the Irish, but we hit the jackpot on our morning charter. Right out of the gate we ended up coming across two bottle-nose dolphins. These guys ended up swimming right over and scratching their bellies on the boat and then performed a few mid air tricks for us before swimming off. The two snorkel spots that we hit were absolutely beautiful and the sea life was amazing. Some highlights include of course the huge sea turtles as well as an eagle ray that I was fortunate enough to capture on film with my underwater camera. Even more amazing on the way back we came across a monk seal which from what we were told by the captain is not only rare in itself, but to have seen one on the tour was like a lightning strike. The crew as well as the captain were all incredible, kept everyone engaged the entire trip, and the burgers they grilled were awesome. Definitely a trip I would take again if we ever make it back to Maui. read more

We had a wonderful time on Maui Magic this past Saturday! The weather was gorgeous! The staff was polite and helpful and really attentive and I would certainly refer Maui Magic to anyone who wished to snorkel while in Hawaii! Although we didn't see many different fish and no turtles whatsoever we did stop for whale sightings which was a treat. The boat seats about 45 people and I think that this is why you pay so much more ($239.00 for one adult and one child) than the competitors larger and flashier boat that seats 130 ppl. ($90. for an adult and the child 12 and under is free). Your going to the same location, seeing the same fish, using the same gear, etc. so I am not quite sure why I was talked into the Maui Magic opposed to the other boat. Maybe the lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers? Anyway, next time I will go for the less expensive boat and bring my own lunch for the same outcome. A good time was had by all though... read more

The boat trip was a lot of fun and the boat staff was great. We enjoyed the smaller boat - no crowds, no lines, good food. The reason I cannot give 5 stars is because of the Snuba experience. The sales pressure for snuba, and the nickel and dime approach really took away from the feel of the boat. We were sold snuba for the trip, then pressured to pay more to snuba at the second snorkel spot. At the end of the trip we received an option to buy pictures. Highlighted brightly was the tip portion for the snuba salesman, no surprise there. It promised 100-200 pictures. I opened my pictures today and there are 42 pictures. read more

The pictures are deceptive. The crew of men except one are arrogant and capable of doing your trip. They lack patience and ready to insult if you don't enjoy getting into the water. Not good people in general. The lady was nice, but that not give cause for putting up with the irritating men on this boat. read more

Truly enjoyed Captain Charleen and crew for their great service for our Molokini snorkel. The whole crew was very attentive and friendly yet very professional. Our concierge recommended Maui Magic as they set themselves apart from other big commercial tour by doing smaller groups so every guest gets the attention and catered instructions. They also serve a really nice barbecue lunch with the tour too, and it was yummy. read more

You won't find a better crew than these! Their service was off the charts great. They made a point to learn our names so quickly and were able to anticipate what you may need before you even had to ask. I was a little sea sick for snorkel tour but the girls there really helped me out. The Captain Dan was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel safe. Even though I couldn't enjoy the food b/c I was a bit nauseous, my wife said it was amazing. Just a wonderful experience and we will be booking with them next time we are in Maui!! FIVE BIG STARS for Maui Magic Snorkeling and the crew!! My fiancé and I wanted snorkeling and whale-watching while we were in Maui, and we definitely got both plus some sea turtles with Maui Magic. They take fewer people than other big boats, and it was nice not to have a huge crowd. First-mate Katie knew everyone's name, and the whole crew was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Having been on several other snorkel adventures, we were also impressed with the amount of food and beverages available for breakfast and lunch. Great experience! Crew is above and beyond. Genuinely enjoy their job and it is reflected throughout the day. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to get in the water. I don't like deep water and am a bit claustrophobic...probably the worst candidate to snorkel. It was a breeze! They have a variety of floatation devices to accommodate all. Crew is knowledgeable and empathetic. They went out of their way to make sure we saw the most we could. Easy boat ride, small intimate group. Worth every penny! My only constructive criticism is more variety of fruit and maybe yogurt at breakfast. Lunch was great! Crew whips up great Maui burgers the minute you are done snorkeling. No time wasted. Every minute accounted for and crew is working to make enjoyable for you! read more

Captain Charlene bbqs a mean Maui Wowie Burger. She went out of her way to find whales for us, she seemed genuinely happy to share local customs, and was over all great tour guide. Her whole crew were down to earth and friendly. I was a little freaked out about snorkeling bc I am claustrophobic. Katie saw a bit of a my melt down between my husband and I. I don't know how she did it but she was able to get me past it and I ended up having a great time. Was awesome to see all those fish amazing experience and I'm glad I did it. I hope to do it again the next time I visit Maui. read more

Maui magic was amazing! I loved both locations they took us to snorkel ! I saw turtles, dolphins and so many beautiful fish! the crew was incredible and the food they served us for lunch was delicious, we had cheese burgers (vegetarian or regular) hotdogs and did I mention free wine? ! Ah I wish I could give a higher review cause the actual trip was great: staff was amazing, food was great BUT due to the trade winds, we couldn't go to Molokini which was the main thing I wanted to do in Maui. It's a bit deceiving because the percentage of times they actually get out to Molokini is slim due to the winds. We stayed in the bay there and watched the boats turn away almost every morning (10 days), and the afternoon tours are even less likely. I even called to ask about jumping on another tour since we couldn't get to our destination and the lady said it's difficult to get out there and they do not do guarantees. This counts for ALL the tours. I wish I would've known that cause I would've just done our own snorkeling off the coast which we were already doing. The point of booking this trip was to go to Molokini. They can not guarantee they will get there so which means they cannot refund your money. So if you want to go on a snorkel trip, the actual boat trip was great but just expect you more than likely will not get to Molokini. read more

Absolutely amazing trip! The staff was awesome and made everyone feel welcomed and comfortable. This was a trip we will never forget. Was lookin at our photos from Maui today and realized I hadn't posted a review of this! This reviw is from March 2011.We had a great time. We'd been snorkeling around Maui on plenty of trips before but we finally decided we'd join the crowds out at Molokini. The boat was okay, the crew was excellent and the food was better than I expected. It was just a burger but...it was a really great burger AND they had my favorite cookies (Kookwies)! The absolute best though was the Snuba. I used to Scuba and had to quit several years ago due to ear surgery. I have not been able to "clear" my ears. I decided I would try the Snuba because I knew I wouldn't be going down very deep so wouldn't have to worry if I couldn't clear. Surprise!!! My ears cleared and I was able to enjoy the entire experience at the bottom. Since coming back home, I've gotten my gear out and am starting to Scuba again. I never would have tried it but for the Snuba experience. Whoo Hoo! Plus, I saw several turtles...had a blast. read more

Katie and the entire crew are just amazing! I've been on many snorkeling excursions and this by far surpasses the rest! We stopped at two different sites and had plenty of snorkel time. My husband and I felt right at home with their great hospitality and yummy burgers. The Maui Magic was the highlight of our trip, hands down. Upon boarding, Jacob is behind the bar with fresh fruit and bagels to get your morning started the right way. After setting out from the harbor we were immediately greeted by a pod of whales. As we were heading out to Molokini the crew dropped a line in the water to troll for Mahi and Ono. While we didn't catch anything, the fact that we had a chance to catch a fish was just icing on the cake. The capitan Jason was incredibly knowledgeable about the local waters, something that can only come with 18 years of expierence. The optional snuba package was well worth the 70$ as it let you get close to the action down in the coral and Bo was a great guide. The deck hand Katie was incredible with her ability to memorize the name of every passenger on board. Did I forget to mention that they had an open bar? I really can't say enough good things about this crew. If you're planning a trip to Molokini, there is no other boat you should take. read more

Charlene and her mostly lady crew put you in competent hands. I reviewed several options at my hotel and picked this one not only because they were highly recommended but because they BBQ off the back of the boat with comp beer, wine and mai tais on the way back. Well I am a vegetarian, and guess what!? They BBQ'd me a fabulous veg burger with all the fixinin's! We started with snorkeling at Molokini, then went to Makena to look for turtles. We swam and explored for a few hours then headed back to see a slew of breeding whales, very up close. Charlene narrated and educated us extensively as to the specifics of what we were witnessing. It was so moving to be blessed with the company of these magnificent creatures, and when under water we could hear them! My trip was on Feb 23rd, two days after my 50th B Day, and the last hoorah. They made it so warm with Aloha, and again, an incredibly competent crew. A quick notice, once those folks heard your name, they remembered it the whole trip. I was especially impressed that all crew members called the children by name. I feel this goes beyond hospitality, it was a huge consideration for safety. Cheers Charlene and crew! I am still talking about you in SF. PS, and BTW, two weeks later a guy walks into my bar in SF and shows me a pic doing a backflip off the Maui Magic! he works at Hulas. Very friendly staff and definitely felt like it was a worthwhile experience. We saw several humpback whales on our way to the snorkeling sites. I couldn't give it 5 stars because we really didn't see as much wildlife at the snorkeling locations as I had hoped. read more

My fiancé and I just went on the Maui Magic this morning. While the crew was friendly enough, they neglected to let us know that they charge you extra for wet suits. We didn't find this out until we returned our wet suits and they asked for $5 each. That seemed super lame since we were already paying an arm and leg for the trip. Also, we did not see a single dolphin on this 'dolphin discovery' nor was there ever any mention of the fact that we weren't seeing any dolphins. We did see some pretty fish, however they were pretty much the same fish that we saw snorkeling directly in front of our hotel. The trip was less than what we expected. read more

I just took my third trip on the Maui Magic (one each year for three years). I highlly recommend it. It's nice because it's a "smaller" boat - typically the group has been 10-14 people so you get more attention. Smiling Bob, Dan and Jason were all hilarious and provided great service! The breakfast is good and after snorkeling or snuba the hamburger is the best thing you've probably ever tasted! I like that they pick spots that they've heard are good from other boats or the previous day rather than just taking you somewhere to "check the box" and say they took you. If Willie is on to do Snuba, do it! He is a great instructor and we had a really nice time. On the second time out I ended up getting a private snuba tour and had a blast. read more

What a great honeymoon experience! This boat is great if your afraid you might get sea sick. The boat is one of the fastest so you're not sitting around getting rocked back and forth. The crew is so friendly and fun. The food is really good, grilled pineapple burgers! To top it off they play super chill Hawaii music, fill you in with historical island info, take you to turtle town and Molokini. I'm giving two stars because I'm trying to be logical and not just give a bad review simply because I am extremely angry. The adventure started off very fun- a funny, welcoming crew. They introduced themselves and gave in depth directions on what we would be doing and how we would go about doing. The Snuba happened in groups of what I think was supposed to be 6-8, but then they let out the group of people who were snorkeling, so the waters were full of people every which way. There's two Snuba divers to a raft, and the dive master is on his own going around and "helping." However, his form of helping was sarcastic ridicule. A young woman got in and immediately started panicking, hyperventilating, wanting to get out. He came over and said to calm down and have fun and I had to literally yell in his face tag she needs to GET OUT. You don't mess with panic attacks, especially in water- you'd think as professionals that they'd know this. Clearly not. Anyway, this woman was my diving buddy, and my sister, so the dive master came up to me and said, literally, "wow does she always do that?" And continued to ask me why she hasn't been put on medicine for anxiety. What? So I go about my Snuba experience and was having a pretty hard time- I had never done this and the waters were very rough this day. Now, the condition of the waters is not in their control, obviously, but they failed to teach/guide/help according to these conditions. The dive master kept emphatically yelling, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I was trying to catch my breathing. Apparently if you jump in and aren't a natural you shouldn't be doing this. I want to be respectful but I can't find any other word to describe the dive master than: Dick. With a capital D. I am really let down. I'm not easily offended, and maybe I'm being sensitive, but I think someone with a professional title needs to act like a professional. The reviews on here are nice, so I'm assuming no one here has dealt with something like this or hasn't been brave enough to say anything about it. Long story short, the dive master was far from accommodating. I'm currently still on the boat and would like to get off and stopped being snickered at- seriously they're immature. read more

Five stars all the way. I did my research the Day before the cruise, to make sure that this was not full of children. What a good decision to do my research, I could not have picked a better company to spend my day snorkeling in Maui with. Kailani was an absolute pleasure to speak with and she really goes out of her way to make you feel at home on the boat. The captain and crew are all amazing and you can really sense their passion and enjoyment with what they do. Take the snuba option, we spent 30 minutes underwater without coming up for air and saw octopus sea turtles starfish etc. make sure you tip the guy well. The only thing I would say that could be done differently is, email the pictures from the snuba! It costs you nothing to snap a photo underwater and you have our email address, it doesn't make sense to pay again to see the pictures you take either way, whether we pay or not. Well worth the costs, but again just send the pictures. After almost a $200 a day per person, the pictures being emailed is not too much to ask. Well book them again next year on our anniversary!! read more

I went on the maui magic tour today after much research on the different snorkeling tours and reading the reviews. Most of the reviews were fantastic, and could not have been more correct. My main goal of the tour was to see dolphins, we talked to the captain (Charlene) and she said there hadn't been any sightings for the day but she would turn the boat around if she heard of any. There were no sightings, but the tour was fantastic regardless. The crew greeted us warmly and enthusiastically, they served us breakfast and coffee or juice and fruit, they made sure we were never hungry. We went to molokini crater first to hopefully avoid the wind, it was beautiful with many fish and different types of corals. After molokini we made our way to another beach, the name I can't remember, but on the way we stopped and watched some whales. The next place was known for its sea turtles, and it did not disappoint. I saw at least 4 of them. We got to spend an hour and a half at that location and when we got back to the boat they had lunch ready for us. With freshly barbecued hamburgers, boca burgers, and hotdogs. After that we cruised back to the harbor taking our time and even stopping to see more whales and turtles. If you are looking for shade I would recommend sitting on the back bench, other wise there wasn't much shade. The crew on board was fantastic and friendly. They genuinely seemed to want to be there with us and to make sure we were having a great time. If I were to chose another tour it would be the same one, as they seem to do different routes depending on the day. Thanks maui magic! read more
