    String bean chicken

Love the new location. Haven't been here since the move. Way more elegant than the old place. I really didn't like the "check yourself in" process. Takes away the initial human touch first experience. The menu was extensive. So many things I could not decide. We ordered a pu pu platter so we could try a little bit of everything. Hubby was undecided over the Volcano and Maui Fried Rice. I had a long list of things I wanted to try. I settled on string beans and chicken. He decided on Maui Fried Rice and a guava lemonade (I think. Could have been Mango iced tea). Everything on the Pu Pu Plater was good. I tasted everything and would order everything again. Hubby said the fried rice gave his all time favorite place a "run for the money". He was very pleased with his dish. Now for my dish. . . the green beans were still very hard and the dish overall lacked flavor. Not sure I'd order that again. But that's not stopping me from going back. The server was super nice, friendly, and funny. Really enjoyed her. We ordered a wor won ton soup to go (for my son). He was hesitant at first because of all the vegetables but he really liked the flavor and texture of the won tons.

Well it's been a couple years since I've been to Maui pho I went there a couple times when it was on ming avenue where the food was always on point there but it's the first time I went to this spot and this spot was okay it was good that I can make the reservation online throughout gallery pretty quickly waited like maybe 10 minutes maybe 15 at the most I mean the service was on point kept out glasses field food is really hot and the decor was on point two food still taste the same wasn't much of a difference still was good definitely would go back cuz the shrimp wraps were on point I love those so I definitely recommend it

Came here for dinner, glad we did. A quick dinner turned into a date night as we ordered some refreshing drinks. The service was great, and quick. The lighting was nice, not too bright. The food was hot, fresh, and plenty to take home for that midnight snack lol

I came with a party of 8 on a weekday for lunch. The interior was very colorful and welcoming. The food took a while to come out. But the portion sizes were quite large, especially for the pho. I ordered the special pho, which had a generous amount of meat. I also ordered the Vietnamese coffee which tasted slightly watered down compared to other places I've had it. Overall, we had a great experience and will return for more!

This place is Fire! Everything I have tried here is delicious. Amy, our server is adorable and friendly. Service is impeccable. The place is clean with comfortable seating. I crave the food here all the time. If you come on Wednesdays, they have hula dancers, I have missed it each visit. Hopefully, I will be in Bakersfield on a Wednesday soon! 1/29/26

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Maui Pho Fusion BBQ Grill. I have eaten here before but it was my husband and daughter's first time. We arrived and were seated quickly. Our server took our drink order right away, which was a nice start. My daughter and I shared the pupu platter along with an order of vegetable chow mein, and my husband ordered the Szechuan tofu. Everything tasted great, and the portion sizes were very generous, definitely enough to share. The flavors were on point and the food came out hot and fresh. My husband commented on the crisp texture of the tofu, which doesn't always happen when eating tofu. The wait staff was a little slow at times, but overall it didn't take away from the quality of the food or the experience. We left full and happy and would absolutely come back to try more items on the menu.

AMAZING Food, service and Value. I've never had a bad experience. This is one of the most consistently good restaurants in Bakersfield . Always fresh and always worth the value. It can get busy but its worth the wait.

We ordered the pu pu platter, which had a lot of variety--skewers, potstickers, rangoons, and more. It was definitely enough food for two people, and we even had leftovers. We also ordered an extra order of chicken skewers that were made differently or had a different sauce, and those were way better than the ones on the platter. My kids ordered the chili wontons, and those were amazing--hands down a favorite at the table. Overall, all the food was good. The main downside was the service timing. Everything came out at different times, which wasn't ideal, and it seemed like there wasn't one dedicated server for the entire place. Every table was full, and it felt pretty hectic. I've been here before and usually have a very good experience, so I'm hoping they're able to provide more help for the servers because the food itself is solid. There was also plenty of seating available.

This is such an elevated "pho" place with a variety of other options like dumplings, bbq, etc. Love how organized they are and how clean this place is. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The person who took our order was attentive and friendly. I got their special pho with beef, chicken and shrimps and it was amazing. I forgot what my husband got but he liked it as well. We will definitely be back!

    Combo Pho

I ordered Pho Beef combo hardly has any meat. I ordered on Doordash. There was only two pieces of meatballs, and two or three pieces of fat. There was no tripe, no beef, at all! Service is getting to get slower and servers especially rude tall guy. When I ask him for utensils or water, it seems like I was bothering him. I used to just ignore it and say oh maybe that person's having a bad day, but more often now, I'm not seeing any nice server, maybe one. Get Beef Pho, at Bento Saigon is better.

This place is amazing! Everything on the menu is delicious. Some of my favorites are the salt n pepper shrimp, Steve's special, wor wonton soup, combo pho, volcano rice, salt n pepper calamari, drunken noodles...you can literally get anything and be content with it. Everything has so much flavor. This new location is very modern. It's bright and very clean. The staff has always been very kind and the owners are amazing people.

Coconut Joe's is still a welcomed regular at any family gathering and a personal favorite of mine to this day. They've always had a strong burger. The huli huli burger n fries which is their pineapple burger is my favorite. For family style eating, their half pack and full packs are perfect. Their tri tip is good on its own, but with the corn, rice, and coleslaw mixed in with it is next level and the flavor always brings me back good times. The vibe inside is super fun. They fully embrace the surfer theme and have surf decorations wall to wall. Their televisions play classic surf trip movies which are fun to watch. Sometimes in the winter they will play snowboard and ski trip videos. Back in my youth, this was one of my favorite parts of the experience. Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.
