During our recent trip to Maui last month, we enjoyed another visit to Maui Pie. We like that they offer pies in 6" and 9" sizes, which allows you to either enjoy a whole size pie or do like we normally do and enjoy the 6" pies. This allows us to have a couple of flavors, rather than an entire full-size pie. They always have a good selection to choose from and you can't go wrong with whatever you select. What separates them from other places is their crust. I like a thicker crust and their crust is top notch. It reminds me of the type of crust my mother would bake, so it brings back very fond memories. We enjoyed a 6" Lilikoi and a 6" Strawberry Mango. Each pie was filled with flavor and baked perfectly. The toughest decision I always have is deciding what pies to choose. I've enjoyed numerous pies here over the years and will continue to come here whenever I visit Maui. read more

I love pie. More than cake. And I can make a good pie. And I have family in France so I know pastry. That background aside that means I tend to find pie places when traveling. I've eaten pie at all the other places known for pies and tarts on Maui. So I'm going to save you some time. Skip them and come here. This one does not have a killer line, and the solid bonus is It's Way Better Pie! We tried three slices. The Lilikoi is exactly what it should be - thick Lilikoi custard with a serious punch of tartness - think tropical version of a lemon curd. I can't improve on it - except I order it without whipped cream (more on that in a minute). The coconut cream is equally luscious - not overly sweet, coconut pudding with coconut pieces. It you're hesitant on coconut cream pies, let this one change your mind. Last was chocolate haupia - rich chocolate pudding and classic Hawaiian haupia (like a creamy coconut jello). If you think you shouldn't get two coconut themed pies, they're not at all the same. I prefer the coconut cream but the haupia is a classic so worth it if you've never had one. The crust on all of them is light and crispy and even stays that way (impressively) if you've never have to refrigerate. In short, this is a 5-star pie place. Alas, I had to knock a star because I honestly hate whipped topping. To me it adds nothing and in fact detracts from the pie. I get why they use it, real whipping cream melts in Hawaii, but I still dislike. If I was buying a large one for a dinner party ($31, sounds pricey, still worth it), I'd get it without the topping and make my own to add at the last minute. Without the topping, the bare pies are a solid 5 star. So I'd add my own or skip topping entirely but don't skip the pie. read more

Best pie on island, this is a hill I'll die on. This place made me love pie in general as I was never really a fan. Their peanut butter pie and banana cream pie are my favorite. We were there on 1/14/25 two senior citizens. Jade waited on us. She was not very outgoing. We had to ask for silverware. We had to ask for plates. We got a delicious mini chicken pot pie and a piece of raspberry peach pie a cup of coffee didn't ask if I wanted it in a glass cup not very good service. She didn't seem to be very caring great place but they need to step it up with customer service I would recommend it but they need to be more inviting. The ambience is clean and aesthetic. Delicious pies, not necessarily the friendliest service. They are located in the Azeka Makai complex, and you can park there or in the Times grocery parking lot. Make sure you stop by early, since Maui Pie closes once they sell out. They were sold out by 5pm on a Thursday, and 2pm on a Saturday, but were still open until about 6pm on a Monday. Luckily, I was staying nearby, and could stop by multiple times while I was there. They weren't busy when I stopped by at 1pm on a Monday; however, they were already sold out of the lilikoi and key lime pies. Also, their fruit pies had just come out of the oven, and they couldn't sell slices until they cooled off (around 2pm). Luckily, I was able to pre-purchase my slices, and stopped by to pick them up later in the day. Coconut and chocolate creme pie are delicious and the crusts have nuts in them which is such a nice crunch texture to add to their super flaky crusts. We became preoccu-pie-d with the menu since they also sell cookies and other treats! After much deliberation, they have quite a selection of fruit, creme, and savory pies, we decided on the raspberry peach mini pie for $16. (They don't sell drinks here, only water is available, so we took it home to have with tea and coffee!) It looked yummy, and we loved the cute pastry heart on the top as a decoration. Oh my goodness. Soooo delicious. The best pie I've had anywhere and the ladies were as sweet as the pies they make. We tried 1. Mountain Berry Crumb 2. North Shore Berry Crumb 3. Key Lime 4. Raspberry Peach 5. Chocolate Haupia The best one of the five we tried was, to me, the Mountain Berry Crumb (MBC). It's slightly tart which counter balances the ?sugar icing sweet granola? style crumbs. I have no idea what the crumb ingredients are but the flavor is much better than I can describe. The North shore Berry Crumb which was similar to the MBC but I still prefer the MBC. Sadly, my least favorite was the Chocolate Haupia but that wasn't of any fault to the bakers. I simply am not a fan of coconut and am apparently now addicted to their crumb style crust but wanted to try the island's favorite flavors. I'd say the Haupia is a Mounds candy bar if it were made into a pie. It was still good and worth the try. Wish they delivered to Texas. read more

Sweet and Savory Pies in Maui Thanks to Mikey C and Jo Y who tipped me and said that I should check out Maui Pie for some delicious treats! And so I followed the experts and I went and got me one cream pie and one fruit pie -- Chocolate Haupia and Apple Pie. A slice is $7.50 each. Omgosh, omgosh, omgosh... like a slice of Heaven, I savored and took my time eating my first pie, the Chocolate Haupia. Silky, creamy and light in texture. Maui Pies makes them the best. This pie is a no-bake dessert! So delicious. If you're not familiar with haupia, essentially, it is a Hawaiian coconut pudding. The Apple Pie was just as delicious! The bakery is located in the Azeka Marketplace in Kihei. At first we couldn't find it and I was getting frustrated. The bakery is actually facing S Kihei Rd which we did not immediately notice. We were over at Nalu's South Shore Grill side which was at the opposite end of this shopping center. The best part was it was only 2 miles from our resort. Located in Kihei next to the old Taco Bell (now von's chicken) is Maui Pie which has a selection of excellent pies, pot pies and baked goods. I already know the pies are delicious. Fun fact they also stock the pies at Puk Sup if you are in the Upcountry area. Oddly this visit I didn't get a pie but tried a lilikoi muffin. I am a sucker for lilikoi and I always on the lookout for my next tasty lilikoi treat. This muffin did not disappoint. I completely mauled this muffin and will go back frequently just to get it!
