Not very pleased here. Seemed nice enough and were helpful in helping me select the right tires. They must have to hit a quota or something because they kept trying to upsell me on things I didn't need. One of them even got snarky on me when I told them I didn't actually need the new caliper they suggested (tried to show me how damaged it was unbeknownst to them that I know how a caliper works). My son went there for a sound from rear wheel. We both figured it was a wheel bearing. He went to the Sheridan Amherst Mavis . Well when he called me, it wasnt just the bearing it was the struts too. All to the tune of around $900. Whoa....how much for bearing...$150 ish...told him to do just that. I had my son check, because we've done extensive work on this truck, and i think there maybe some parts warrantied. He asks...Rick, cant find it on computer . Son calls me back, the bearing is under warranty...really. He also told me that they said the struts were original...no way. Well when he found the repairs done...all four struts replaced two years ago. Nowwwwwww the guy tells my son...oh we dont think its the struts...its the trailing arms....what happened to struts ? So th manager will honor the warranty on the bearing....but WE HAVE TO PAY LABOR ? This morning I went to my Utica Mavis , where I spoke to James, who showed me what should be under warranty, and said they should not make me pay labor......ok, told my son to fight for same. I then called Fred the Mavis manager in herkimer. Fred said no way hed charge for labor. Ok. Fred then heard my complaint, called someone else, called me back and said...the car will be fixed , no charge. My son picked it up...no charge NEVER AGAIN will we go to this Mavis location. Ill have him drive to Utica or Herkimer to see James or Fred, two guys who went above and beyond to make sure theyre customer was happy UPDATE....UPDATE... Went to local Mavis. Manager showed me the stabilizer links that were slightly worn. He said hed order them and replace them, under warranty, for no charge. He said the struts...besides being obviously replaced, are in fine condition, nothing is wrong with them. My next step ...contacting the attorney general office for a full investigation into fraud. read more

2 hours plus and still waiting to get my car back. I only needed 4 tires mounted and this is really far too long. I was told 1 hour so I left and came back without anything even started. I guess the price is right, but I think that the wait time is excessive. read more

Liars, cheaters, and thieves. Ordered tires and made appointment to put them on. Cost nearly $1000. When we went elsewhere for a tire rotation, we discovered that these were not the tires we ordered, not the proper tires for the truck, and we were billed for the better tires. We called Mavis, who told us to come in immediately. We had work so had to wait a day. We took the truck in and left it all day. At the close of business the corporate office called to say the store did not even have the tires, and wanted me to leave the truck. I needed it to get to work, so had to go get the truck. Turns out they needed to order the correct tires. No compensation for the mistake, my time, multiple trips, and NO APOLOGY. Go anywhere else! read more

DO NOT GO HERE THEY ARE SCAMMERS OUT FOR YOUR MONEY!!! I brought my van here to get a tire replaced back at the end of August..They ended up replacing the wrong tired. Which I didn't realize till I got home and had to go back the next more. They then claimed it had been an oversight and that it needed to be replaced anyways. They then said they couldn't put the old tire back on and I was just going to need another tired. When I made the appointment they gave me a quote for 2 tires but when it came time to do it they said they couldn't give me that price instead it was $50 more. So why am I leaving my review now..I just went for my inspection and I was advised I have no lugnuts on the vehicle and that there is some other thing holding my tires on that are eating into my tires and damaging now only the tire but the whole car and have messed up the sensor for one of the new tires that mavis replaced...So now I have to pay even more money to fix their mistake again!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! they never even apologized for the tire mix up instead made it seem like it was my fault and I was neglecting my vehicle. read more

Please do not come here!! I am here to have my annual car inspection and has been waiting for 4 hours, still waiting. One of the associate came up to me saying that you accepted to wait a few hours so don't frustrate on us. This man gesture is very intimidating he keeps looking at me when I walk back to my car. Overall this is the worst auto experience I have ever had, not only how they provide service in a timely fashion, but also this associate's intimidating gesture. There are so many other mechanic shops in this area. I will never come back to Mavis again. read more

I called on 3/2 for pricing on 4 tires. The salesman "wrote up" the order. I told him I would be in on 4/2 to purchase the new tires. I showed up this morning at 8 to be told there wasn't a single tire in the store that fit my car. The only thing in the computer was my name. What a waste of time. read more

Went to get an estimate on brakes. Ready to spend whatever was needed to correct this issue. Semi friendly welcome and was told it would be a minute until they could check into it. Made a reservation on 11/7 for 11/14 3pm. Received a call on 11/13 around noonish asking if I could come in anytime that day. Unfortunately, I couldn't tale advantage of that. When I arrived for my appointment I was advised that they had overbooked and would not be able to get me in. Why didn't they mention that during the call the day before. I drove from downtown buffalo to Amherst for no reason. He actually ask if I would be willing to leave my vehicle overnight saying it would be available for pickup first thing in the morning. I asked if I could just leave it and pick it up before they closed. I mean if it's going to be ready first thing in the morning why would it not be ready last thing ronight. Nope could promise it would be ready tonight. So I asked did that mean you would not be doing the work tonight. Probably not. So what would be the purpose for leaving vs coming and being their first customer in the morning. He actually said they had appointments. The tire rotation may be free since I bought tires there. But I'd rather pay at Toyota where I treated with respect! WILL NEVER RETURN AND TELL EVERYONE TI NEVERY DO BUSINESS WITH ANY MAVIS TIRE! read more

Don't waste your time! Go to another shop. I made an appointment a week in advance online. Prior to my appointment I called ahead to confirm, and they told me to come in at 9:00 instead of 10:00, as I would be "first one in, first one out." I arrived at 9:00 and my car stood still in the parking lot until 11:30. It gets better- they then told me that there was a "glitch in the system" and that they didn't have my tires in stock. After the whole ordeal I left the shop at 1:30. Never, ever again will I return to get any services done at Mavis. read more

Poor service. Changed four new tires. Could not do wheel alignment. Told me that they are not licensed to do wheel alignment. Asked me to take the car to dealership if I needed for wheel alignment. Had I known that this is such a poor service place, I would not have changed my tires at this place. I am not at all confident that the guys at this place know how to change tires either. This place was a joke. I dropped my husbands car off at 9:30a(they opened at 9a) and was told 1.5 - 2 hours for a new set of tires and an inspection. So I left the car and came back 3 hours later to find that these fools were just finishing up the inspection, my tires weren't even touched. I was livid ! 3 hours for an inspection are you serious !! We were so furious that my husband demanded they get his car now minus the tires !!!! The sad thing is that there was another woman there ahead of us (she got there at 9a) who was still waiting and she was only getting new tires ! Here it was 12:30p and neither of our vehicle were done. Not to mention I went the day before and at 2:30p they said they weren't taking anymore people to come back in the morning. recently got new brakes and tires rotated. was driving on 290 and heard noise, got off and thank god i did , lost all lug nuts and tire came off ! assistant manger was apologetic and accommodating knowing they were at fault. unfortunately, as soon as corporate was informed of incident , all manner of things changed. no apologies , just disdain that i took my car elsewhere to have it looked at to check for further damage and there was. $700 , Definitely a company that values money over the safety of people. would not in any way recommend. didnt see a way to give no stars so had to give 1 to post review read more

As a service manager at a certified elite GM dealership I was very disappointed with the results of service on my daughters Jeep. Vehicle was presented for an oil, lube and filter change as well as a NYSI. Vehicle was dropped off and left for them to complete at their convenience. problem started with the NYSI. Inspector failed vehicle for service braking system due to corrosion on left rear brake rotor. He stated it is impeding braking. #1 there is no brake vibration or increased stopping distance. NYS CR-79 states rotors are only subject to failure if there are substantial cracks extending to the edge., There is evidence of mechanical damage other than wear or there is distortion or scoring that impairs the braking system. When I questioned the inspector he told me the brakes were vibrating due to rotor on the left rear wheel. #2 The left rear wheel was never removed to perform inspection. This is known because there is a problem with a seized lug nut that cannot be removed at this time. Lug nut was not removed. I normally perform all of her repairs at my shop but seeing how I work 50 miles from home and it was just for an inspection and oil change I told her to take it there. The fact that the vehicle was rejected improperly is not a big deal to me. I would advise not going to a shop that does not follow the law with regard to inspection. I did not advise them of my career when speaking to them but assured them I knew what I was talking about. The fact that they were willing to take advantage of a young lady is what really burns me. Lastly, The oil change was just that, drop the oil, change the oil filter and fill the oil. No filters checked, no fluids checked or topped off, air pressure not even set on the tires. Nothing was lubricated. I spent 20 minutes completing the things that are supposed to part of and oil change on my own including replacing an air filter that was never checked. Quick to sell brakes that were not needed but cannot do the things that were paid for or actually needed. read more

You don't deserve this 1 star but t made me pick something. I went to the store on Sheridan drive in Tonawanda, it was the 1st and only time. I called on a Friday for a quote on 4 tires, they guy told me they would be $44.99 a tire, I was never told it cost extra to have the tires balanced. He also told me they had a 50,000 mile warranty on them, it turns out it's not a warranty at all, it just means they should last 50,000 miles, you have to pay an extra $8.00 a tire for a warranty, are you kidding me. I was told to come on Saturday morning at 8:00 am so I did, my name was never put in the system, the best part they only had 3 tires so. Had to come back at 11:00am, when I questioned the manager Nick why I was told all the stuff I was told he said oh he didn't know, then he shouldn't answer the phone. I will make sure I tell everyone I know not to do business with Mavis ever. read more

Received a quote for 4 firestone tires, took the car in on August 25th to get them installed. When I arrived was greeted very rudely by an assistant manager I cannot recall his name. Acted like I was lying to him and told me they don't even carry firestone (like I would make this up or something). Then asked him what he does have, obviously annoyed he asked what the tire size was, became further annoyed when I couldn't tell him. He then went out looked at my tires came back in and said I don't have much of these in stock, and quoted me a ridiculously high price for some non-brand name tires with only a 40,000 mi warranty. I obviously left after that and went to Tread City was provided fast friendly service and was out in less than an hour. A couple year prior we purchased our tires here they only lasted 2 years and we only put 8,000 miles a year on our car, figured it was the tires not Mavis. However when we got the car home it went flat- we then had to call AAA to come put spare on drive it back so they could fix the brand new tire, apparently they did something wrong with the valve. Stay away- just not worth it!!! so many better places to go. read more
