Not only have I been burnt on a bait & switch here, but my friend's girlfriend comes in to repair a flat and they won't let her leave unless she buys 2 new tires at approximately $350. With mine, I needed a set of high end Cooper tires for my sports car. I was told to buy the tires online through their website and I could setup the install appointment there. The online cost was approximately $675. Cool! I thought. WRONG. They had no record of my appointment and had to call the warehouse to deliver the tires. After arguing that they did NOT need to replace the TPMS sensors in my wheels, they put the tires on, pulled the car out, and I handed me a bill with almost $200 in hidden install fees. I brought in my car to have some routine maintenance. The typical brake, spark plug sort of stuff. Then it happened--I got cursed with a "mechanic" who knew nothing about what he was doing. Long story short, if you take your car to Mavis, DO NOT LET CAMERON SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE! There are plenty of other viable, more experienced mechanics. Have been here multiple times in the past year for everything from a state inspection to getting 4 tires mounted and balanced to an alignment. Hasn't always been the smoothest experience, but the management has always gone out of their way to make things right. I was comped a state inspection that took way too long, and they price matched a set of tires for me that were lower priced on their own website. Generally their prices have been very competitive. While they have tried to up-sell me (alignment, road hazard warranty, etc), they don't argue if I say no thanks. Generally have been very quick in turning the vehicles around and professional to deal with. Yes, the waiting area is spartan, and the refreshments consist of water, but there is a Stewart's across the street if you need a coffee and they have free wifi if you want to stream Netflix, so no big deal... Definitely plan on going back again. read more

I got a flat tire on the way to work and after putting the donut on and working a 17hr shift I stop by Mavis which I made an online appointment for while at work. I arrive & was greeted very pleasantly in the beginning by a Manager who says he can get me 4 new tires that are rated for 60k miles @$99 each and after install, tax, and disposal was gonna come to $550 something range...I wait @ 2 1/2 hrs...mind you only 1 car was in front of me...&&& I had an appointment. I start looking around & realize my car has not even been taken in yet & they were about to put a vehicle that had just shown up before mine. I go to look for the "Manager" and I'm informed by someone in the shop area that he had to go home cause he "just tested positive for Covid twice"?!?! Well, I have now had shaken this said Managers hand and even used the same pen as him! Awesome!! Especially being that I work in healthcare & have to be around the elderly. Then the gentleman explains that the car they were going to take in front of mine was because they did something wrong & were having to correct the error first....at which point I said ok, so how long?? The guy says you're next. Then I ask again about the tires they are going to be putting on my car & he tells me they are only rated for 40k miles?!? That's a 20k difference from what the manager quoted?!? At which point I said forget it!!! Also, the icing on the cake...as I walk into the garage area to find someone to talk to I smelled marijuana...which ok, I'm not a hater but if I'm sitting there waiting to have someone put tires on my car (2 1/2hrs) I would appreciate not to have a cloud of marijuana smoke come rolling in the office area while telling me "I'm next" EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED A complete waist of time!! Been bringing vehicles here for years always had great service & pricing . Just brought my winter only truck in to have a exhaust donut repaired . The weekend manager called and will only do the work if he replaces the entire exhaust system including the converters , sensors the whole works ... Totally unrealistic at a price of $2500.00 .. the sensors , converters , and rest of the exhaust system is fine . I believe when they have a job they don't want to deal with they just give you a unrealistic price so you just come and take your vehicle or be crazy enough to have them do the $2500 work ... Had an appt at 2:30pm on Friday to put on 4 new tires, balanced and an alignment. My truck never came in the building till 5pm. The store closes at 6pm and my truck was still in the shop. They keep telling me its almost done. My truck was done at 630pm and now I have to take it back because one of the new tires leaks air and the steering wheel is not straight in the truck. They said the alignment was done. However I believe they rushed through the truck cause it was closing time. Never got any paperwork saying that an alignment was done. Now I have to go out of my way to go back there Wednesday to have them fix the tire and fix the alignment. I have been going to this Mavis location for ever because of price and location. However I always have to wait. Why have appts????? Also everytime I go there there seems to be a new manager. Very dissatisfied with the whole experience.. read more

I had 4 new tires put on my car. They told me that tire pressure indicator light would reset in 15 miles. 50 miles later the light was still on I brought the car back. After an hour they told me that the light stayed on because one tire had 8 pounds too much pressure and another had 7 pounds too little. Umm, you just put the tires on yesterday. They also managed to lose a center cap but told me that I could order them from VW and submit the bill to them for reimbursement. Three of the 4 valve stem caps were missing and the emergency break didn't work. So, if you don't care about correctly inflated tires, having your car returned with all of the parts that it had when you brought it in and don't need a working emergency brake, this is the place to bring your car. read more

THESE GUYS ARE COMPLETE SCAM ARTISTS. First off, they flat out wouldn't accept a competitor's rate on a set of snow tires. Just wouldn't do it- I gave them two rates- one online and one from the local Walmart. Their claim on the first one: "If we honored that we'd be out of business" - so I showed them the Walmart ad- their next claim: "Walmart brand tires are fake tires, the tread is less." Mind you, this happened all after we had put the tires on. I was furious. So I bit the money, vowing never to return- months later, we go to take the tires off from a competitor's shop. The shop calls us and says that the guys that put your tires did a number on your axle- a few more months and you would have lost a tire. So let me get this straight- they purposely damaged my 2013 vehicle because I was angry at them for not honoring other competitor's rates???????? DO NOT GO TO THESE GUYS. read more

I've spent a few thousand dollars over the years at Mavis Discount Tire. I brought my vehicle to address an issue with a noise coming from my car. I thought it was my bearing but I was told it was my brakes. I purchased brakes and it did not resolve my issue. Turns out it was my bearing. The manager replaced my bearing free of charge and begged for a 5 star review because they needed it. I gave them 5 stars. I am now changing my review due to poor customer service. One month after getting my car back, my AWD and ABS failed. I brought it back to Mavis to check it out. They said it was nothing they could fix. Bringing it to the dealer they said my bearing was not replaced properly causing the wheel speed sensor to fail. I had to spend $900 to have a real shop fix my vehicle the right way. Because Mavis attempted to "fix my vehicle " for free there were no proper documentation. Speaking with the manager of the store and a guy named Lee who is supposed to be the manager have horrible customer service. Just be aware of who you're doing business with, this store is lacking Integrity and customer service. I just know I'll never return. I hope this review can save someone a heartache... read more

I'm contacting the BBB about this company. I went there to get tires on 11/3. When I arrived there I explained to the man working the counter, TYLER, what i found online for about $56.99/ tire. He said that they didn't have them in stock but there was another brand that cost around $92. I told him that I didn't want them but he explained that he could sell them to me for a price of $64, but I'd have to wait until the next day to get them. I agreed. He told me to set up the appointment online because the deal may be cheaper. I didn't have good cell service to complete the appointment online so he told me to go outside and try. After about 15 minutes I explained to him that I couldn't set it up online. He only then told me that he could just set the appointment up on his computer. I dropped the car off and he told me he would call me the next day when it was complete, because the tires weren't in stock. I was fine with that. We went to pick up the car the next day and they quoted me the price for of the tires that were $92 /tire. I explained that I was quoted a better deal and was being overcharged about $150. They adjusted the price back down to $64 /tire. Later when I looked at the tires I noticed that they put the $56 tires on the car and overcharged me to $64/ tire. Even prior to that they attempted to overcharge me by over $150. I was mad but didn't have time to take it back. A couple days later I was driving down the interstate and the car shook like crazy going over 60 mph. They may be out of balance. I was out of state for a few weeks and never had a chance to take it back. I don't ever want to step foot in that place again. They stole from me, attempted to steal more and put the wrong tires on. They didn't even put them on properly. I'm contacting the BBB. Don't ever go there. read more

Made an appointment the day before. Arrived 15-20 mins early, waited an hour before asking for an estimate, and when I asked how much longer he says 2 hours. Don't bother making an appointment because you will still be better off leaving your car there the entire day. Can't beat the prices on tires but I wish I listened to other reviews and planned accordingly. read more

I've been to this particular Mavis twice so far. The first trip was spectacular! I called to make my appointment and the guy who answered was exceptionally nice and helpful. My car has AWD so when I get new tires, I always get 4. All together, I spent just under $450. Not bad at all. The second trip, however, was extremely frustrating. I booked a reservation to get my tires changed online. I arrived promptly at my appointment time of 11am, dropped my car off with a somewhat surly man who legitimately seemed pained when saying hello, and went home expecting to get a call in two hours or less to say my car was ready. By the time 4:30pm rolled around, I had yet to get a call. I called them and was told, "Oh, it's absolutely the next car to go in." Um, what? It's the NEXT car to go in? I dropped it off 5.5 HOURS AGO, and I even made an appointment beforehand! How was it not the next car to go in WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF? By 5:45pm, I still hadn't received a call to tell me my car was ready, and since their hours said they close at 6pm, I ended up having my boyfriend drive me down to get the car anyway, whether it was finished or not. When I got there, I saw my car sitting in the parking lot. The same surly dude behind the counter told me that they did everything but the alignment but offered no explanation why, just that I needed to come back to get it done. Apparently no one at this Mavis can change some tires AND do an alignment within an 8 hour time frame. So, no phone call to tell me my car was ready, and even though I had the courtesy of booking a reservation and showing up on time, Mavis didn't show me the same courtesy and get my car done within a reasonable time frame. A shame, because I've had much more positive experiences at other Mavis branches. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2 is because the price was still pretty great for 4 new tires. read more

I recently took my truck here for service. Asked them to plug a tire, Oil change, tire rotation and was having an issue w my brakes (turns out rotors were warped and pads were low) i informed the guy at the desk what i needed and how the truck was acting. I was told they would check my brakes and take care of the rest. Few hours later they called m and said it was ready for pick up. I asked on the phone if the tires were rotated and if they checked the brakes assured me they had. I paid $51.00 for tire plug and that was it!!! They never changed my oil nor did they rotate my tires. When i asked (different guy at counter) if they checked the brakes he asked "what was going on with them?" When i explained that i thought the rotors might be warped he told me they checked them and everything looked good. When i asked more specifically he said "Oh we don't have the tools to gauge whether your rotors are warped or not we just eyeball them. ". Wait! They are a tire and break service center and they don't have the tools for to gauge whether the rotors are warped!!! What kinda service center is this? Then he says to me "we can replace the brakes for $250.00 if you like." I wasn't even sure that was my problem!!! Then i asked if the oil had been changed and tires rotated and he had this dumb look on his and answered "Yes." I get in my truck and no oil change sticker in the window and the computer hadn't been reset for the oil life percentage. Mavis of Troy, your tires may be good your service SUCKS!!!!!! I have had problems with Alignments in the past too. Whenever i get one (troy store) i have to go back the next wkd and oh the Attitude they give you if you tell them they screwed up or even imply!!! Yeah, they're pretty good here. I order the tires online then make the appointment for a week or so out. That works. They always try to upsell you, but I just tell them no. Last time I went they did an alignment and it was horribly bad. When I drove away, I was driving down the road straight with the wheel around a 45 degree angle. Had to get it re-aligned at the dealer. This time they said I needed an alignment, must've been that crooked alignment machine again. I told them no. Tried to sell me brakes too. Same thing, just told them no. I can't imagine what a hack job they'd do on brakes if they can't get alignments right. So, all in all, I'd go back, just to get the tires done, nothing more. I recently purchased 4 tires from them. I noticed the car was a little shaky. I soon discovered they filled the tires to 41 when they're supposed to be at 33. This past week I called to get brakes. I didn't realize the call center picks up when the store phone is busy. The guy who answered was very pleasant and said I could come right down or make an appointment. I made an appointment for the following day. Within 10 minutes I realized I had another appointment at the same time so I called to cancel. The guy who answered the phone this time was from the Troy store and was a complete jerk. He was short and rude and could have cared less. I said I had to cancel the appointment and I would just come down today. His response was. NO, NO YOU ARE NOT. I'm short staffed and I'm not doing it. I go I literally was just told I could come down. He got really angry and goes you didn't talk to me. You talked to the call center. I go I called this number. Regardless, I need to cancel my appointment. His response was then you can call the call center if you want to cancel or go somewhere else. I'm not doing it. I asked for his name and he hung up on me. I called back 3 times and each time I got the store and not the call center. The next day the same guy calls me to confirm the appointment. lol I said I cancelled that appointment after the way you spoke to me yesterday. He hung up on me again. This guy seriously needs to be fired. He's a horrible representative for Mavis. I will never go back to this store or support another Mavis. For the record, I called the support center to let them know and never heard back from the reginal manager they said they were forwarding the complaint to. There are plenty of other places that will take my money. I refuse to go here again and would advice you not to as well! read more

I called ahead and made an appointment for a front end alignment at 3:30. I then received a voicemail confirmation for my 3:30 appointment from another employee. When I arrived at 3:30, I was told that other people who did not have appointments were given priority over me and that they were not doing anymore service work for the day. This is literally the worst customer service I have ever received. I had to make a special trip there just to have this work done. Last time I went to a Mavis, I had to wait over two hours just to get my car in (which is why I called ahead.) If making an appointment does not reserve time to have the work done, then why even take appointments at all? read more
