Being a local to Huntington Beach, you can't find a better guy than Eddie to help you with your car issues. Being a single lady, Eddie has proven to be consistently honest and trustworthy. With peace of mind, I can always rely on him to tell me the truth about what my car needs. His prices are really good too. My dad is extremely picky with regard to automotive servicing as he is very knowledgeable about how much a certain service should cost and how long it should take to complete the service. I recently purchased a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper that needed a tune-up, fix a leaking fuel hose, and I wanted to have a detailed mechanical review. I heard of Ed at Maxed Performance from a Vanagon enthusiast website and gave him a call to see about setting something up. He immediately noted a couple of common issues relating to the leaking fuel hose and let me bring in the van the next day. After one day in the shop, as requested, Ed came back with a few items that he noted would need taking care of in the near future. We discussed prices and some other concerns I had with the van. What I appreciated in our conversations is that Ed would not try to sell me on everything and was quick to tell me if something I was wanting done (heater hose for example) was not necessary. I ended up having Ed do a mini tune-up and replace various hoses. The work was performed under budget and on time. We got towed to Maxed back in 2000 or so when our VW fuel pump went out on the freeway in Huntington Beach. We have not stopped using Maxed since then. We moved to Utah 2 years ago and when we are back in SoCal visiting we take our cars to get serviced at Maxed. They are very helpful, honest, and timely in making repairs and answering questions. I don't hesitate to call them if I have questions or concerns with my current cars (GMC Suburban, Honda Accord, and Nissan Maxima). I have not found a replacement for Maxed Performance in Utah. Wish I were closer to them!!!! read more

These guys are AMAZING! I have a little VW Jetta that has had quite a few issues. Having moved here from out of state I was nervous about finding a new mechanoc. Ed at Maxed Performance is THE MAN!!! My wife & I recently purchased a '99 EuroVan and needed a whole bunch of little things tweaked on it to make sure it was 100% roadworthy. We read all of his stellar reviews on Yelp and decided it was going to be well worth the trip from Hollywood to Huntington Beach to get the Eurovan 'maxed' out. We conferred with Ed over the phone prior to making the trip and explained all the issues we were looking at getting taken care of. He felt none of it should be a problem and off we went to drop it off. One of our main concerns was a less-than-sturdy 'H' bar for keeping the pop-top raised. Ed was able to install a fantastic piston system to help with the raising & lowering of the top as well acting as a safety mechanism for keeping it upright. We left the van with Ed for a little over a week (which we knew prior to dropping it off) but the whole time it was there, Ed gave us timelines on the arrival of certain parts, what was accomplished so far and what was still needing to be finished. When we drove back down to pick it up, Ed patiently walked us through everything he'd taken care of. The EuroVan looked & worked great and we took it for a camping trip later that same week. We were ecstatic with our newly working pop-top and especially knowing the Eurovan had been serviced by a consummate professional, giving us the confidence to hit the open road. Thanks a ton, Ed! Other VW shops not so much. I have an 82 aircooled that was leaking oil. After diagnosed, van needed new valve cover gaskets. Total charges $103 dollars with oil/filter change. Just needed a headlamp replaced on my Beetle. I called around - dealer - $64, Big O - less than $100, Ed at Maxed - $45. So, I gave Maxed a try. I dropped in with no appointment. It was fixed in about 15-20 minutes. The charge - $40. I'm happy. Ed even explained that a part that secures the assembly in place was broken and probably should be replaced next time, but it was fine for now. Another man waiting for a repair told me he has been bringing his car there for 25 years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Such a pleasure to find a place like Maxed. Honest and Reliable!! Two of the most important words when considering a mechanic. I was recommended to Kenny and took my VW there this morning. Kenny was very clear and thorough on the issues with my car and what needed to be replaced immediately and what was recommended but not imperative to fix immediately.
