I haven't updated my reviews in a while but if you can tell from the amount of check ins I have here this place is still 10/10! I love the service and the food. They know who I am and always give me a little special treatment when I come to pick up my order.

The food is good chicken seasoned nicely with yams tasty and macaroni cheesey but the service you get when you come in to the establishment is appalling disrespectful worker being rude to you the whole experience even when ordering. There are no seats or tables to sit at,and zero ac in hot weather. I recommend just door dashing from this restaurant.

Horrible customer service, I ordered uber and they forgot to put the cake in bag I let that go. A few weeks later I ordered through uber and they forgot 3pcs of cake , I had to go pick it up and they didn't even give a extra slice or anything for putting me out of my way. Not good business.

Was craving for fish and chips. My husband brought me here after Covid vaccination as a treat. It is a great choice. I was happy with my food. The service is fast, we did not wait that long for our take out order. The pricing for whiting and fries order is pretty dope. Fresh fried and delectable. Seasoned to perfection.

One of my favorite little places when you are craving some good whitening fish, you must stop here!! The Blvd. always puts there foot in there cooking!! I love the fact that when you order the fish it's made to order so it's never just sitting there, it's always crispy and fresh!! The flavors of the fish is simply juicy and flavored to perfection!! My favorite side I typically get is the collard greens!! Which just by itself you can get full off of!! The macaroni and cheese is good as well.. If your craving some soul food/ comfort food this is a must try spot!!

If you're looking for a good down home southern seafood spot Maxine's is the go to spot! The chefs in the kitchen are working hard to get the orders ready and the ladies that answer the phones are no-nonsense with indecisive people because they have orders to prepare! Once you place your order don't be in a rush to get your food because every order is cooked fresh to order but it's worth the wait. The cooks at Maxine's know how to prepare the fish perfectly, if you order a sandwich it's cooked just a little more so it's not soggy!

Good place if you want some quick food. The mac n cheese was okay, but the fried chicken was a little salty, but overall it was decent.

What's included w/ the dinners? The menu lists "dinners" but doesn't explain what that includes, even when I click on the item to order.

    How's the whiting?

Husband says its good. Not super dry.

    Is there inside seating?

Very little seating but, it does.

Luckily, I had Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips on my list and it was on my way. I'd also been wanting to check off eating at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant on my foodie bucket list for sometime. This spot is going to count for me, at least until I can eat at one of his real-deal restaurants. While I didn't expect the place to not have a line, I was pleasantly surprised at how I was able to quickly place my order then grab a counter seat along the window. I was solo on this visit, so I didn't need a table, but those who had groups had to wait a few minutes to grab an empty one as the the restaurant was fairly full. The atmosphere is just like any pop-in, to-go place: casual, yet energetic, and feels approachable with a focus on serving quality food, rather than worried about a Michelin star. The only caveat is that the prices are a bit higher than most are probably happy paying, but you've got to remember its proximity to Times Square and the Gordon Ramsay brand. I got Gordon's combo which was a piece of cod, a piece of chicken, and three pieces of shrimp. All three were were crispy, flaky, and golden brown with a light batter that delivered a nice crunch, and the chips were hot and hearty. Exactly what you would you'd hope for from a restaurant built around this delicious British comfort food, especially with Gordon Ramsay's name on it. I'm not much for tartar sauce, so I can't speak to that, but I definitely appreciated the bit of lemon to add a bright burst of freshness. As it is more of a to-go/fast food style place, the presentation was surprisingly appealing for a quick-service restaurant. Paired with a ginger ale, it was a satisfying meal after a day of exploring the city.

As someone who isn't the biggest fan of tomato based soups, but doesn't always want the heaviness of a cream based soup, this is the best of both worlds. Its flavor was rich yet balanced. The cream brought a smooth, velvety body and subtle sweetness, while the tomato added a bright acidity and savory depth. Potatoes provided gentle heft and earthy comfort, while onions, celery, and herbs built a layered, homey backbone. There was a good amount of tender clams, with natural sweetness that tied everything together. We also got an order or mini crab cakes. The exterior was golden fried, with a nice crunch. The interior was more crab than filler, with enough structure that it held together. It was simply seasoned, supporting the crab instead of overshadowing it. The horseradish Dijon sauce was more Dijon than horseradish. It brought a gentle tang and little bite to add a depth of flavor to the crab cake. Also of note, when you sit down they bring tartar sauce and cocktail sauce to your table. Both sauces were honestly the best of their kind that I can remember having in a very long time. I couldn't even tell you what made them so amazing, but I must have commented at least 7 times about how good they were. There's a reason Bigelow's has been around for almost 90 years. It's a simple spot, with old school charm, that knows a good thing when it's got it, and doesn't mess with perfection. It just continues to serve up consistently good fried seafood (with a few grilled options so you can drag your health conscious friends and they'll find something too).

This visit I ordered the lump crab cakes, clam strips, fries, and a lemonade. Everything was a solid 10/10. The crab cakes were loaded with sweet lump crab meat and barely any filler. You can actually see the chunks of crab when you break them open. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious. The clam strips were hot, crispy, and tasted incredibly fresh, and the fries were perfectly cooked. The staff is always quick, pleasant, and efficient, making takeout a breeze. Most importantly, the food is consistently fresh and flavorful. That's what keeps me coming back. If you're in the area or even passing through, do yourself a favor and stop at Bigelow's. It's one of those places that lives up to the hype every single time. I'll definitely be back.

Fried flounder sandwich $22 Tasteless!!! There was absolutely no seasoning to the flounder nor the batter that it was fried in. I swear it tasted like "nothing." 3. Clam chowder (forgot the price) Upon opening the container, we saw a film of oil on the top. Having lived in New England for a couple of years, I have had my fair share of clam chowders and this was just missed the mark by a bunch. My daughter and I had a spoonful of this chowder and it was awful. The chowder was gritty and not smooth. Also, the color was off (beige color). Yes, it was beige color and not that smooth white color. It had no clam taste, but rather a taste of that bottle container clam juice you get from the grocery store. We never went past after the one spoonful. Yes, it was that awful. 4. Clam bellies (forgot the price) Again, no seasoning. However, it was fresh and the best thing we ate. The clam bellies were good size. The batter was light. Everything about this dish hit the mark (minus the lack of salt/seasoning). The people who worked there were pleasant. They were not rude or disrespectful. However, the way how we were seated was unpleasant. We were a party of 2. We paid for our food. Bought enough of food for 4 people, because we wanted to try as much as we can. However, we couldn't sit at a table next to the harbor. We had to sit at a high table with a busted umbrella that that food stain AND the tables were next to the line. So as you're eating, people next to you are waiting online can look and hear your conversation. Mind you, there was a table left that was next to the harbor but they wouldn't give it to us because they want to give that to a family of 4 or more. It is just very poorly managed or it could be that we're not "special" enough to be seated next to the harbor. Note: Obviously, I don't feel privileged enough to be eating there. When they said they're not willing to give me the seating next to the harbor, I kindly asked them to pack my food to go. Again, the staff was pleasant but their subtle entitlement is what threw me off. I do NOT recommend this place at all for a good seafood fix. There are better places at south shore that will serve "seasoned" food with nicer hospitality.
