BRING AN APPETITE. Spent the weekend on the Jersey shore fishing and relaxing and who pass by Phila and not stop and get steak and cheese hoagie....Not me!! We stopped at Max's Broad and Germantown, local spot with a bar connected for spirits. The place was not crowded at all so we were able to place our order pretty quickly. Whatever you do, do not ask for everything on it...because the queation will be what's everything!!! BE CLEAR, and indicate by item what you want on your sandwich. If you can eat for three to four people by all means order the large....if however you cannot recommend the half. How do I know, I ordered the large. Yhe sandwich was cut into four sections, I ate one section and was DONE!. REAL STEAK, FRESH CONDIMENTS ETC. Absolutely worth the trip. The challenge was staying away for the journey home.

So glad our friend brought us to experience this gem in Philly! Seems off the beaten path and not the typical places you hear about when you're visiting Philly and looking for a cheesesteak sandwich but don't let that deter you! First thing to note is that they are CASH ONLY. They have an ATM but I recommend bringing plenty of cash. Waiting area can get cramped when they are busy. It's pretty narrow so sometimes you might have to wait outdoors. These sandwiches are HEFTY! Check out my photos and videos. Definitely come with an appetite and be ready to either share your meal or have leftovers. There are different meat options, you can add cheese, peppers, sauces, etc. No cheese whiz unfortunately. They have drinks you can purchase at the counter, as well as a bar in the back. The vibe here is great, with classic hip hop and rap from the 80s/90s when we were there. Fun fact, this place was featured in Creed!

Max's is one of the best spots for a cheesesteak in Philly, but you must go at the right time. I was visiting from Texas and was told by multiple people that I NEEDED to try Max's, but specifically not to go at night. I stopped by shortly after 1pm, and there were only a few people ahead of us, so the wait wasn't bad. I ordered a large cheesesteak with onions and mayo. They cook unseasoned meat, so I highly recommend adding seasoning or condiments when they ask! The customer service wasn't bad, but they didn't put much effort into it. Overall, it was a great experience. Considering how comically long their large sandwiches are and that they cost only $24, it has to be the best bang for your buck in Philly!

My husband went in to order a cheese steak and met with rude service. He couldn't really hear the people while they were trying to cook at the same time and the ordering wasn't streamlined. Regardless the price was good since it was $12 for a cheese steak and not like $20 like most other places. We took it home to eat for lunch. The bread is soft and hot soggy from the meat and cheese piled in. They put a ton of ketchup and mayo ? Which was odd but worked! The meat is not seasoned and my bread was falling apart. Not the best cheese steak but the price is good atleast.

This is our go to whenever we are in the area. When we were there Wednesday, I had my daughter order five cheesesteaks with American cheese, fried onions, sweet peppers, mayo, mustard, ketchup, salt and pepper!!! My goodness!!! The absolute BEST! So good we couldn't just eat half no matter how hard we tried. Will be stopping by again this coming week to grab enough to eat them and bring sone back home to Maryland!!! Service is fast and efficient and the ambiance is exactly what you would expect! Do yourself a favor & pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed. I promise!

Ok...Here we go! Of course being a Born & Raised Philly Resident I am familiar with Max's! I would frequent more often when I lived closer..so it has been many years since I have had a cheesesteak from here! I had a friend from out of town so they requested a visit! I took them to the other popular destination that starts with a 'D'...they weren't impressed! The lines are definitely longer than I remember...from start to finish I would say it was a 45 min wait! The vibe once inside is you specify do you want a whole new or half! Once cooked you will be given the opportunity to add; condiments and toppings! Everyone in line is patient and you just know the wait will be worth it! The long roll is soft and absorbs the flavors of the grill and meat so nicely! So my friend got the cheesesteak and I got the chicken cheesesteak on my half! I think it is worth it to get 2 half's ...you can definitely fill up on the 1/2! This is Cash Only..but there is an ATM inside! Keep Going Max's! Still a neighborhood gem! decided

Came back here this time to give them a try since I left soon after entering the last time I attempted to order. I know I don't order the typically cheesesteak but fundamentals are just that. No cheese on mine but the meat should still shine (bars lol) The meat wasn't seasoned and it really thought it would be. Don't know if I needed to ask for more onions or what but I tried it on its own since this "half" was ginormous and there was plenty spilling out, which I loved. Fresh jalapeños, black pepper, seasoned salt or something was missing. The atmosphere was giving an only locals vibe but welcoming. I chatted with the bartender and some patrons. It was also early in the day. We would have stayed to watch the game but not all of their TVs were working. Funny thing, I'd go back but I'd definitely add some black pepper to it.

Was ok.... The plus is that they give you a lot of food so you will not leave hungry. I like that it's a local, neighborhood 'down-to-earth' type of vibe. Very 'hole in the wall.' As an out of towner they were patient with the ordering process as myself and the person I was with were clueless, lol. You can tell they're used to being very fast-paced. We each ordered a different type of cheesesteak to try (I ordered one with chicken and my sister ordered one with steak). We split them both so we could try them. This could have been due to miscommunication, but they were just ok... when we ordered (and after we paid) they asked what toppings we wanted and advised that veggies are an extra cost. They could have advised this when they were taking the order... so we skipped as we were low on actual cash and didn't want to pay more ATM fees to take out more for two toppings (cash only establishment). I also could have used extra cheese for the cheesesteaks. Bartender was super friendly though. As stated before... yes, it's very 'hole in the wall.' However, the booths on the bar side are not ideal. You can barely fit in them and can feel every move the person sitting behind you is making. My sister and I are short and each weigh about 135lbs. The space between the seat and the table were so narrow that our 'you know what's' were basically sitting on the table with the table almost at each of our ribs. The bathroom could also be way cleaner. I'm open to trying a different Philly and sitting at the actual bar in the future. Was definitely an experience.

My first time here... they definitely live up to the hype. I'm not a meat eater, also not vegan. I had to order both the chicken w/cheese n obviously the beef. It's best to get it they way they are famous for making it. Mayo on the bread, ask for a little salt n pepper. You don't have to get the cheese wiz ( that I hate) you can ask for provolone or white American. They will add pickles, ketchup, peppers cooked in or on the side. Overall they are a 10 outta 10. The quality of meat n the soft bread makes their cheesesteak a winner. I'll definitely stop by again if I'm ever back in Philly. read more

Waiting in line, I told the cook there was a roach crawling up the side of the Stainless Steel square pot where they scoop the onions from, I even showed him. He looked it, looked at me, and said, "And you're still here!?" And went back to cooking on the grill. Just fowl ass business. You don't have to be fucked up everyday! read more

Almost 6,000 reviews and a personal reference means I had to go. Born and raised in MA could be contributing to this but I was let down. There was no flavor or seasoning. It was just meat and whatever topping. You could add salt and pepper but that's on top at the end. What does that really do?!?! It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. Even the "grilled" onions were still white and clear meaning they were hardly cooked and just sitting in a tin waiting to get dumped in at the end. All the hype was a let down. read more

First time in Philadelphia first Philly Cheesesteak! I had to get me a Authentic Philly Cheesesteak! And based off the location I knew it was gon be good too! *NOTE: North Philly may not be the best place to travel around alone at night. I didn't see anything out the ordinary but head on the swivel just as in any city! If you not looking for trouble, trouble may not find you. You just there to get a cheesesteak and will be gone anyway! People seemed nice, I had a few convos. Kept it basic with a Pepper Cheesesteak w/ American cheese and just added mustard. Max's is a little hole in the wall! You come in and they cooking right in front of you. You order the cheesesteak you want, you get a number and you wait for it to come together. When they call your number, you tell them what condiments you want on it and then pay, That's it! Simple! They also have a lil bar in the backside looks like a good time. read more

I Drove all the way from DC with my girlfriend on her birthday to visit this spot because we heard it's very good. We never got the cheese steaks we ordered because the cook refused to serve anyone unless they put money in the tip jar first. I used to work in the restaurant industry, I know all about tipping... What that cook was doing was wrong. So we left... this happened Friday August 18th at around 6pm . Somewhat heavy dude with a beard was the so called cook. My first experience at Max's was amazing. It was the essence of what a Philly cheesesteak is supposed to be. Bursting with flavor, culture, everything about it was amazing. Fast forward 11 years later and the experience is nothing like this. I went early on a Tuesday and there was no line. Ordered a few cheesesteaks and noticed the size was significantly smaller than the last time I had visited. The staff was still cool, even gave my son a free drink (his first time in Philly) and the order was ready quick. When I took my first bite, I knew it wasn't the same. The steak lacked flavor, the bread was almost stale, and like I mentioned before the size of the hoagie was significantly smaller. What I use to consider a staple in the city is now basically a tourist spot. I probably won't return for the main reason that there's much better spots throughout the city with much better cheesesteaks. read more

I've tried a couple of philly cheese steaks and I have to say Max's is probably one of the better cheese steaks I've had. I just ordered it plain with cheese whiz on top. First off the meat was nicely seasoned and tender. The roll they used was fluffy, soft, and absorbed the juices nicely. I felt that they could have went lighter on the mayo though cause it was slightly overpowering. The provolone cheese was a nice touch but I don't think I could have had it without the cheese whiz on top. The cheese whiz definitely adds another element that would've seemed missing had it not been there. It's just a classic taste that I personally feel is a part of what makes a proper cheese steak. If I lived in the area, I would probably frequent this place. read more

04/13/25... @11:35am traveling in from NYC. First and foremost, NO price indicated regarding the menu. No worries , 2 individuals in particular...#1heavy set guy behind the counter whom translate the order to the cashier#2. Customer service between these two appears to indicate that I've caused some form of issue in which had me feeling as if I said or done something wrong. Cash only was shown to me by the cashier by just thrusting her thumb behind her back with no hospitality in anyway. Mumble words to #1 who in the beginning seem frustrated of me asking for ingredients for me cheesesteak basically no listing of any kind. Had I NOT TRAVELED for my daughter asking for this particular location I would've went to GINO'S. Never Again!!! read more

My husband and I visited Philly for an anniversary trip, and we decided that we would get a cheesesteak (when in Rome...). We came here based on recommendations from a few people, as well as the reviews. I may be the odd man out, but it was just okay to me. It wasn't spectacular. The bread was pretty good, but the meat reminded me of ground beef on a sub. I will say that they were very generous with portion sizes. I asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday and she said she wanted to ride out to Philadelphia for a Philly Cheesesteak. So I said "Max's it is". We picked up and drove from NYC. I've been here a few years ago and it was so good. This isn't your typical tourist destination but I'm from Brooklyn, NYC so I'm comfortable anywhere. Lol....... We got to Max's at about 2pm on a Saturday and stood on line for about 2 hrs. It was a nice day and I was chatting with my sisters so I didn't mind the wait. One of the cooks came out side and reminded us that it was cash only and that we should be ready with our orders to make the process more smoothly and quicker. If you don't have cash. Have no fear, there's an atm inside. I had to use it. I went to the atm while my sister placed our orders. We all ordered half sizes because it's the same size of an average hero in NYC. The full size can feed a family lol. We also experienced the spice of the attitude the lady at the cashier gave us lol. It's okay we're used to it in NYC. We then took our food and Angry Orchard into the seating/ bar area and got to eating. Everything was soooooo delicious. I had a cheesesteak with mushrooms, cooked onions, cooked peppers, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. All the flavors blended in so seamless. It was so greasy but full of flavor lol. I would definitely make the drive back to Philly for another bite read more

46 years and I finally get my 1st authentic Philly cheesesteak! This was absolute heaven on a roll! Tender sirloin steak sliced very generously, grilled with finely chopped onions and wizzed to perfection. I swear my half was 16-18" long and must have weighed 2lbs! Every bite was full of tender, juicy meat. The bread cradled everything just they way you want it to. The staff was super friendly and welcomed us as being newbies to Max's lol We ordered 1 whole and 1 one half and it was just over $30. This will feed our family of 3 twice! yes, Yes & YES! Thee best Philly cheesesteaks, hands down. I've been to Pats, Geno's, Larry's, & other popular cheesesteak places but nothing can compare. They get it right every time! Have been going here for over 5 years for our cheesesteaks & they never disappoint. Most recently I went on a Wednesday around 2p and it wasn't crowded at all. Waited about 10 minutes for my order. I ordered 1 whole cheesesteak hoagie. Hoagie means they will add lettuce & tomatoes to your sub. Mind you, a whole cheesesteak is $21 but that's because the whole sub is about 21" long. They put the sub in a grocery bag and half of the sub was still sticking out. That's how huge it is. Can feed 4 people, easily. They are CASH ONLY, but they do have an ATM inside in case you forget. I ordered my cheesesteak hoagie with sweet peppers, grilled onions, mayo & American cheese. Some people do the cheese whiz to make it creamier, but I don't. If you get ketchup and mustard on your cheesesteak they will know you're from out of town because you don't need any other condiments on a cheesesteak. It was so delicious and I ate half of it by myself! Did I mention it has SO MUCH MEAT!!!!!!! Couple of things about the area: this is a place where you get in & get out. They do have a parking lot on the side where you can park for free. My recommendation would be to go during the day because all types of stuff goes on at night. Some may call me greedy, some may call me a lover of cheesesteaks. I call myself, Me.. I love Max's and before the pandemic it was a great place to go and chill although it would take a min to get through the line because of the personal touch they put on it. Well worth it in my opinion. I've tried several of the more known shops and was not satisfied. I always drive away satisfied from here. Quick story, the world had shutdown and I was still working. BEST CHEESESTEAK IN PHILLY. Be prepared to wait in line but memorize your order because they move quickly and you don't want to hold up the deliciousness. The whole is bigger than an adult arm. I've been coming here since 2013 and recommend Max's to everyone I know. It's worth the trip to north philly. They have a bar next door that be jamming the best old school R&B. Hot peppers, mayo on both sides, provolone, and onions! read more

I've moved away from philly so when I got back everyone said I need to try their food since I'm staying not far. I was not impressed at all ! Plenty of meat but no flavor. I am a first time customer in Philly and my first time having cheesesteak. It was great food. We waited 2.5 hours in line and there was one guy inside who was super rude. I'm from Down south so it wasn't funny nor appropriate for me. He told the lady on front of me he didn't care if she was from out of town and that he didn't care if she ever came back. He also kept asking every man for tips even though there were multiple signs saying no tipping allowed. I will definitely recommend friends to patronize other in town steakhouses read more

This cannot be the famous Max's everyone raves about. Food: The cheesesteak itself was soggy and had no flavor. They have to up the cheese to meat ratio with all this meat. $20 and I had to go home to add my own seasoning and more cheese smh Service: I understand they're busy but the attitude is not necessary. Everyone can't wiz off an order in 10 secs. It was almost like you couldn't even ask questions. Not inviting at all. read more

Been wanting to try Max's after hearing so many people rave about it. The steak was just ok and reminded me of what you'd get at a corner store. The meat portion was good, but I came across quite a few fatty pieces and it was pretty greasy. I'm typically a wiz person, but I got American cheese because that "cheese sauce" they tried to pass over as wiz just didn't do it for me. There's a difference. As far as the experience, the line was long but moved quickly. We got there at 4:15 on a Saturday and just beat the rush that wrapped outside. The staff could've been a tad friendlier. Overall I don't think it lives up to the hype and is average at best. read more

Pepper Philly Cheesesteak. Mediocre taste very greasy. Line was super line and so was the wait. There is a lady with short hair who is very rude. I don't understand how you can work in that business and be rude to customers. I will not be returning back to this place whenever I'm in Philly visiting. PS Accommodate vegans. This is my home town and I went here because I remember them before they were famous. Today I had the ABSOLUTE WORSE cheese steak!!! It didn't taste bad, but it was SOOOO MESSY AND SLOPPY that I was too frustrated to enjoy it!!!! The absolute worst experience in all my years with a cheese steak!! My new shirt was destroyed! I know from being born and raised in Philly that a cheese steak DOES NOT have to be messy to taste good!!!.... Very disappointing and very frustrating.... Hands down the best Phili Cheesesteak. Don't believe the hype of Genos and Pats. It's all story. The only downside is it is in the worst neighborhood. Our Lyft driver who has been in Philadelphia for over 30 years told us he almost didn't take the ride because of the neighborhood. He also told us to take our sandwich and go very quickly. It is not the kind of neighborhood you want to be stuck in. He says there are muggings and shootings all the time. We definitely felt unsafe and we ate very quickly and left. This is not a place to go after dark. I wish the neighborhood wasn't so dangerous because we would have gone back during our trip. :( The people making the sandwiches and taking the payment were very lovely, but the patrons kept staring at us, and not in welcoming way. Last tip, they only take cash. read more

They not sanitary. The guy was working on the food with broken gloves. He didn't stop to change his gloves until a piece of his glove fell on the area where the food was. He then proceeds to take his glove off his sweaty ass hand. Sweat dripping all over the food, then takes a glove out of his POCKET... not the box... but his pocket and puts it on his hand. Not only that... the glove looks like it had already been previously worn and he didn't even bother to wash his hands before changing his one glove. Smh do not eat here. That was nasty as hell. Max's SMH you've gone down hill! Not what it used to be. Your cooks are rude, and very unprofessional. I came today from Jersey and all my cousin asked "did the person in front of us placed their order"? The girl that prep the sandwiches was extremely rude; yelling out " were short staffed, its only two of us unless you're going to put on an apron on and help I suggest you"..... the filth from her mouth unprofessional. We all just left, and got cheese streaks somewhere else that was just as good with better service. No way I will give my money after that display. I will not return especially since she also blurted out that your closing.. and I see why! read more

So ever since they were in Creed, it's been on my radar to come here. I was up this way yesterday, and decided it was time. This is a really good cheesesteak. Good amount of meat. Not dry at all. Not too tender. Not too rubbery. The meat had a nice feel to it. And the onions caramelized on the grill with it infused a nice flavor. They used a straight Amoroso roll here. Nothing fancy. But it didn't have to be. I'm more of a Sarcone's kind of guy. But nothing wrong with this. On my cheesesteak top 10 list, they are now in my top 5. 1. John's 2. D'Alessandros 3. Philip's 4. It doesn't look that appealing - it's like a large sub sandwich. The pork was soft, tender and seasoned well - the roll was very good - John's had been getting its bread from Carangi Bakery. However, the bakery closed due to a fire so I'm not sure where the bread is from, unless it reopened. I finally satisfied my curiosity about John's and went to see what the sandwich was like. While it probably ranks as one of the better 'pork/steak' sandwiches in Philly, I just couldn't get excited about it.

Since the inside can get crowded with customers waiting for orders, calling ahead makes the process much easier. The cheesesteaks are really good, and I've also enjoyed their pizza. The service is good, and the staff seem to work well together to keep things moving and make sure customers get what they need. Overall, I enjoy coming here. The Original Pat's King of Steaks is located in South Philly, specifically in the Passyunk Square neighborhood. It sits at the intersection of East Passyunk, South 9th, and Wharton. The building has many different signs and lights that will let you know that you are in the correct place. Since this is in the city, parking can be somewhat tricky. There are times I have had to circle around, or get whomever I was with to drop me off and have them come back. However, sometimes I have secured street parking not too far away. This will just depend on the time of day, and really the luck of the draw, if you are able to easily locate parking. This is an outdoor stand, meaning there is no inside to enter. You will order at the counter, and food is packaged to-go. However, there are some tables surrounding the building that you can dine at. They are all under the roof overhang, so you will be somewhat protected from the elements. On this day, it was not terribly busy. I really did not have to wait in any kind of line before being able to place my order. This was around 4:00 on a Saturday in September. First, I took some time to look over the menu posted near the sidewalk. There is also a helpful guide on "how to order a steak," for those that are unfamiliar. When it was my first time here, I actually found the humorous display very helpful. I placed my order for two classic Cheesesteak Wit, made with Cheez Whiz. When ordering, you specify if you want Wit (with onion) or Wit-Out (no onion). Given that I was wanting to try the most authentic sandwich I could, I opted for the onions and the traditional Cheez Whiz. My sandwiches only took a minute or so to be ready. As stated, it was not busy, and they are able to whip up these sandwiches rather quickly. I ended up taking my sandwiches to-go, and having them for meals the next few days. They reheat well, and have good flavor. I like having the onions on it for an added texture. Pricing is not terrible. Pat's is more expensive than Geno's by $2 for the same sandwich. My total was $36 after tax for the two sandwiches, making them $18 each. You definitely are paying for the experience and the novelty that is coming to this famous corner of Philadelphia. But, this price is not out of the ballpark of other places in the area. The sandwich is a decent size, and you can definitely get two meals out of it if you are eating it by yourself. So, all that considering, it is a fair value for what you pay. It seemed like most menu items were $20 or under. FYI, they take both cash and card. The staff are quick and efficient. However, it will not be the most friendly or pleasant experience, especially if you do not know how to order. I am not saying that the experience was poor by any means, but be aware that this is not Disney World and they will not be overly kind to you at the order window. Being from Pittsburgh, I had never had a true Philadelphia Cheesesteak sandwich until a few years ago when I visited for the first time. Since that trip, I typically make it a point to stop and get a few sandwiches to take back home with me. I enjoy coming to Pat's for the atmosphere, and the true taste of Philadelphia. I recommend giving it a try at least once, just to say you have had it. Plus, the sandwiches are pretty tasty, too. I will definitely be back here on future trips to South Philly.

But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. The space is big with large bar and plenty of high top tables. Their bar offerings are wide with plenty of draft and canned bevs. The food menu is huge and their wings are absolutely insane. Beyond the wings, the chicken Caesar wrap is super good but wasn't my favorite of everything we got. Will definitely be back soon!

My only gripe about this place was that the plates are really small even for family style and kind of pricey so you end up ordering more. Appetizers - Crispy octopus and foccacia. So good! We also ordered the carbonara which was cooked suuuper al dente and was tasty; it was on the saltier side. As for the mains - flat iron steak and branzino. My siblings were literally fighting over the last bites on the steak and branzino lol. Dessert - Since it was my sister's birthday we got to try the tiramisu which was deliciously rich and creamy. Also you get 4 and they're (IMO) too big for 2 people to share (but great for a larger group) because I was starting to get full. Entrees were the Eggs in Purgatory (perhaps an Italian shakshuka) which we ordered because the people next to us ordered it and it looked delicious--and glad we did. The dish was so flavorful and we left no crumbs. We also ordered the sweet Jawn pizza which also left us members of the clean plate club. The hot honey was just subtle enough but provided an extra level of flavor you didn't realize you needed. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying their dinner menu!! 5/5 stars!

We had 2 staff state that they were new to the restaurant (one who seated us and our waitstaff) but we would not have know this if they had not said. Both must have been trained very well. There is a large amount of seating, but we did reserve our table to be sure we made it to the show on time (12:30 reservation, done by 1:30 and made it to Walnut Street theater by 1:45!) We will definitely go here again should we attend a show, or if we are back in Philadelphia!

Max's cheesesteaks broad and Erie has been a pastime for me while growing up here in Philadelphia I stopped by I hadn't been in town for a minute and I had a taste for an outstanding cheesesteak while I haven't had the opportunity to enjoy my steak I encountered an individual that suggests that I have been trouble making truth be told I'm not a troublemaker I'm a respectful human being well one thing led to another I felt offended and I left like I don't want any trouble or problems I noticed when I packed my well deserved State into the car I noticed I had to use the restroom so I double backed inside the restaurant to use the laboratories while exiting I saw old acquaintance so I decided to stop and connect before leaving the establishment I was then I was then approached by the I guess bouncer pretty big guy that suggested I had to leave now I hadn't been trespassed or even kicked out I elected to leave while trying to leave the establishment the bouncer walked on my shoes while I was dressed up walked on the hill of my shoes multiple times I tried to turn around to suggest that he stopped you know walking on my shoes and allowed me to exit The Establishment it was then when I was blindsided and I have PTSD from being blindsided and other situations so they don't get myself of improvement I was wrong to choose to go to Max's over my pie in the sky intention at Friday's on City line avenue I regret my choice to stop in to establishment that I value which I value no longer and will never ever ever go in such a hood establishment that treats their patrons is such a manner good luck if you go to this establishment is all I have to offer On top of that in the process of being attacked I don't have my glasses to be able to safely drive home but don't fret I'll make it but it's one thing I'll never make it and that's back to Max's cheesesteak on Erie and broad proceed with caution and I would like the owner of this establishment to answer this horrible treatment that I received in their establishment see you in small claims court you have to replace my glasses read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Max's Steak in Philadelphia, PA, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. Set in the Northwest Philly hood, Max's has cheesesteaks worth dying for. Just kidding...kind of. I'm serious about the cheesesteaks, they are incredible. And as long as you go during the day, the neighborhood feels safe. There is something about the meat that is so juicy and flavorful. It could be the man at the grill hacking away at massive blocks of meat with a machete or the variety of toppings and condiments, but whatever it is, Max's cheesesteaks stand out above any other cheesesteak I've tried. This seems to be the general consensus of a few people born and raised in Philly that I have talked to. The atmosphere there is also lively and interesting. Couples gyrate in the back room, groups of people play cards, and there is a poster in the front of the restaurant entitled "Pimps in the Pulpit"; an advertisement for a book released next month. Make sure to check out the giant cheesesteak, it's practically the size of my arm, from shoulder to fingertip. I decided to go visit this place because of the Movie 'Creed'... My feedback is, "Don't go". Don't even waste your time. They fell off completely. The hospitality is horrible and the wait isn't even worth it. There's a guy who cooks the food and a guy for prepared it for you. The guy that cooks the food takes out the trash as well. (Who knows if he wastes his hands when he returns.) The guy that prepares the food is a complete jerk. He feels like he has the power to say anything and make you feel like you need their food or something. His attitude makes you want to walk out without the food. Not to mention that I tried to order a bottle of wine from the back of the bar where the actor "Creed" sat, and they didn't even know the price of their own product. The whole time I was there, I felt like we were going to get robbed. Guys was selling products inside the venue as well! Anyway, this is the last time they will see me up in there. When you first walk into Max's, you are immediately blind-sighted by the bustling atmosphere and the steam rising from its grill, noses are turned-up-right trying to catch a waft of the ever-pleasant combination of cheese and beef....its to die for! Oh, but then to even out the atmosphere, on the DARK SIDE, or shall we say the other end of the restaurant ...literally on the opposite side there is a bar/club connected to the restaurant where one could come and get there groove on... Come to Max's and you will receive nothing but the best. IT'S HEAVEN! PLUMP! JUICY! FULL OF FLAVOR! As for the cheesesteaks, although a fan of beef, I highly recommend the chicken cheesesteaks. Great place for an Authentic Philly cheese steak or hoagie as they call them lol yeah the lines can be long the best days I realized you gotta go is Monday through Thursday between 12-2pm they are fast and friendly, I have been coming here for years The day shift is the best even when you mess or they they are still polite and friendly they have a new guy he is nice too I think his name is Ryan or something like that. I went to Max's Steaks tonight and stood in line for about an hour before finally getting to go insid, then, waited another hour or more just to get my food. They have a poor system of getting customers their food when they have the onions, steak,bread, and everything else sitting right in front of them. I came from out of state and went there and was very disappointed and one of the male workers kept getting smart with customers. Customers shouldn't have to wait that long when they have the food already ready in front of them. They do too much talking and not enough fixing peoples food. I will never go back there again. Max's cheesesteak- Do not go to Germantown location it is disgusting! I believe they sell drugs out of there and cook does not use any seasoning no flavor what so ever...stay away especially if you traveling with children because it connected to a bar where the cashier was so rude. Additionally, where we sat down to eat there was drug paraphernalia on the tables and floor. An hour later one of my family members was vomiting violently. Came in since I was starting in Philly for the weekend. Came in on a Saturday night. Line wasn't too bad, maybe like 20 minutes. Come in knowing what you want and remember your order number. I'll repeat for the people not paying attention: LOOK ONLINE, FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT BEFORE YOU GET THERE AND REMEMBER YOUR ORDER NUMBER. I did this and it went smoothly. I've been to several cheesesteaks' joints in philly and thus far, this one is the best. From the meat to the sub rolls, everything was good. I've had the other big name cheese steak places, but this is the best. The place opened at 10, however, we arrived earlier and we're waiting outside in the rain.
