We moved July 15 from Lawrenceville, GA to Vista California July 26, 2020 The delay in the arrival of the furniture was not good as our children were there from other parts of the state to help us and needed to extend their stay. Tami, whom we worked with was superb. She lelped in packing and was very patient. That's the only good I can say. We realized after pick up they had left our patio furniture and a long mirror. This was on their list. However, we did sign off on this, so we agreed to let this go. WE did find it interesting that they were going to charge us another $100.00 to pick up forgotten items Now--the worst part. We were told the items would come in a semi which was approved by out Retirement home in Vista. When the movers arrived, they were in an 18 wheeler whch was not even allowed on our street!! This meant another $550. to reload our furniture to a shuttle We only had two rooms of furniture to begin with, not even a bed and mattresses! When the shuttle finally arrived, there was the driver (not permitted to help move the furniture), and one other guy who was totally exhausted! Then, our computer desk and our printer were totally destroyed. The worst part, was a very large box of personal items we had packed at the last minute. Items of clothing , jewelry, and some which we are still discovering. We ask for a claim. Are you ready for this? We only aked for $750. which we felt was fair. As unfortunely we had to replace our items, but had not kept the the destroyed items to take a picture. Obviously they didn't believe us. We received a whopping $50.00 on the claim. If you are particlury move long distance--please don't even consider this company. read more

I hired Maya Van Lines to move me from Atlanta to Buffalo and it has been a nightmare. They changed the moving date on me, they were late to deliver my items, at least two boxes of items are missing including vital items from my bedroom, multiple pieces were damaged or destroyed Including my dining room table and two coffee tables. They failed to provide me with vital paperwork and even provided inaccurate information about payment to receive my items. I have called and sent numerous emails to my sales person (who went on vacation during my move and failed to let me know who a replacement would be), and requested numerous times to speak with a manager and have yet to receive a call. Be very, very careful when using Maya for any long-distance moves. I read this on other reviews and feel it's worth noting - their acceptance of payment is incredibly inaccurate. They told me cash or bank money order were accepted. I did not get the final total so I was unable to get a money order. Then I received an email that the delivery team accepted credit card. Clearly stated in the email. However, when they arrived, they said cash only. It was a Sunday and they were requesting more than $1000 in cash. They threatened to hold my items hostage and place in to storage for $700. Then they finally said they'd accept PayPal. I sent the money, and the supervisor said he didn't have an account. Then I had to transfer via a third party app I'd never heard of. The guy claimed he didn't have PayPal but clearly did as when I called PayPal to cancel the payment, they said it was an active account. I spent half a morning in an argument with the main supervisor claiming his employee did not have it, only within 30 minutes to be refunded the money. It was very suspicious and did not make me feel comfortable about it all. The ONLY good thing is they had the best budget of all the movers, but I guess you get what you pay for.... now I'm out hundreds of dollars because of a broken dining room table, coffee table and missing items. read more

I hired Maya Van Lines in July for an out of state move from Georgia to WAshington, DC to take place early August 2019. I researched quite a few companies and called for quotes. What ultimately made my decision was that Maya Van Lines came out to do an estimate so they could adequately estimate the cost and their cost was reasonable. I've moved enough at this point to know that people giving phone estimates and/or asking for inventory is a semi scam because they always come back and significantly increase the price. Not sure about you, but moving is already stressful enough-what I look for in a moving company is accuracy in pricing (I don't want any surprises) and professional movers (not just some day laborers picked up and outfitted with the company tshirt). Anyhow, the first snafu came in scheduling the actual day of the move. I asked if movers would need to come the day before to pack as I had a 5bed3bath home and Leo told me that probably wasn't necessary, but a scheduler would call with times. So, I made plans to be gone the day before my move only to find out they wanted to pre-pack that day. Annoyed. The packers were primarily good-I think there were 3 of them the 1st prepack day. they were professional and courteous. On actual move day, there was an additional person which didn't seem as experienced as the others (as evidenced later when I unpacked to see some odd packing jobs and a few broken pieces). Anyhow, the second major snafu happened because I was informed that my weights/amount were more than estimated and I'd need to pay the difference. I found this unacceptable as the main reason I even went with this company was to avoid such an issue. In my opinion, I wish the moving companies would just over estimate instead of underestimating as it feels very disingenuous. I went back and forth with the owner who accused me of adding items since the estimate. huh? Why in the world would I do that?! I was super offended and disappointed. Ultimately, he just decided to let the original quote stand, which I thought was the right thing to do and appreciated, but I was still highly annoyed and frustrated that I was in that position as I tried to insure against having to deal with that. So after all that, I was told my shipment would be delivered Sunday. The third snafu came as the scheduler/coordinator informed me I'd have to pay an additional $500 to switch trucks because the 18wheeler would not fit in the alley. My husband tried to explain to her the set up and that the truck will fit as there are 18 wheelers in the alley all the time, but she was SO insistent as she said she was looking at Google maps and didn't see any alley. OMG-Annoying. we are the people that live here and he's telling you real life what the deal is and you're arguing looking at some outdated maps! Annoyed again. Anyhow, it ended up being a non issue anyway because the original truck had some mechanical issues and they had to move the delivery to Monday and came with a different truck anyway. These two guys unloaded without any major issue except minor damage to the tv stand which the other guy mitigated as best he could and getting all the boxes and furniture in was a TIGHT fit, but they did it! Ultimately, I give Maya Van Lines a 3/5 stars because even though there were underestimation and customer service issues, they mitigated them and most of my things are intact. I've had worse and I've had better, so they are about middle of the road for me. Hope this helps! read more

What a fantastic service!! I've just moved to a new home, the move was complicated due to the fact that I had to store my belongings for 2 weeks before moving in to my new home. They did a great job with packing it all quickly, storing, unpacking and assembling the furniture that needed to be assembled. No damage was done to any of my belongings, they were extremely careful with bringing it all in and up the stairs. I was very impressed by how professional and quick the teams were. They used a driver that hired ppl that are not from local professional movers (from Craigslist ) because he was trying to save his money!! I recently hired a 4 man crew to move my wife and I into our new home. They arrived on time, and didn't flinch about moving my 1958 jukebox or my countless heavy boxes of film equipment. The driver/supervisor, Alex, made sure everything went smoothly. I was concerned for a sec when I saw him on the phone, but I quickly realized that he was carrying 2 items, supervising the crew and packing the truck all while on the phone. Talk about multitasking! The other three guys were incredibly fast and never seemed to tire. They were friendly, polite and careful with our belongings. It's too bad that this is our "forever home" and that we won't need movers ever again, otherwise I'd hire them in a heartbeat. read more

We used Maya to move a while back. We just used other movers and the difference between the two was incredible (Maya did an extremely poor job and the other did not). Maybe it wasn't the worst thing, but they arrived early. When you expect someone after 8am and it's before that in the 7 o'clock hour it's strange. I wasn't even dressed yet. They got there so early that our new apartment community hadn't even opened yet for us to get the keys. So we had to wait for that. They hastily brought up our furniture denying and scratching it. They 'tried' to get our couch through the door but were unsuccessful, so they had to pull it up a few stories (the couch can fit through the door we realized that of you take the door off). So in my opinion they were either not that experienced OR they were in a hurry. Boxes with the up arrow on them were placed downward and other very heavy boxes (marked books) were stuck on top of tiny boxes that said fragile. Some of the boxes were collapsing when we finally got back inside from paying them. Besides the scratches and all to our furniture and the box issues, they also did not deliver all of our items out of the truck. Repeated calls did not suffice until I wrote a review on Google. They promptly called us and delivered the items. The items may not have been big items, but one was one I really cared about. The frame it was in was completely ruined and someone attempted to put it together with black electrical tape (luckily the picture inside survived). After we moved in, we filled out a satisfaction survey. I was happy everything arrived. I'd never used movers and nothing was broken, so I wrote how great they were. It wasn't until I got inside I realized how awful and unorganized of a job they did. I would not recommend them (but they are good at pulling up couches). read more

At first I was excited to work with Maya Van Lines because they were very quick in responding to my communications and up-front about the charges. The issues began one after another as soon as my stuff was loaded into the Maya truck, which happens to be the most critical part of a cross-country move, the actual moving. Raphael told me many times that my stuff would arrive at my destination 16 hours after the truck left. I planned to fly to my new home on a Wednesday, and Raphael told me the truck would begin moving my stuff on Tuesday, which would mean it would arrive just a few hours after I was at my new home. When the movers did not arrive that day, I called Raphael who told me there was a delay and my truck would be leaving first thing the next morning. On the next day, I called in the late afternoon and the truck still had not left. My truck ended up leaving on a Thursday night after it was promised to me that it would leave first thing Tuesday morning. My truck did not arrive in the 16 hours promised - far from it. My mover emailed me to tell me my stuff would arrive on a Saturday or Sunday. I was getting anxious because I had to travel for work on Monday, and I had communicated this to Raphael weeks before that it was important my stuff arrives before my work trip, and he assured me it would. Saturday came and passed and I had not been reached out to, so I called the mover who said my stuff would arrive Monday or Tuesday. I was very worried so I emailed Raphael, called him, and called a second time and left a voicemail. I never heard from Raphael again. He was very involved in my move and always reached out to me minutes after I called, but now that I had already paid for the pickup of my stuff and the drop-off had been outsourced to a contractor, all interest in helping with my move was lost. I was forced to reschedule my work trip, and my stuff did not arrive until nearly a week later than promised. On top of all this, at drop-off the mover tried to charge me $150 for the distance to the stairs, whereas I had been told by Maya that the charge would be $75. Communication between Maya and the contractors is poor. After your stuff is picked up, Maya doesn't care when it arrives, IF it arrives, any concerns you have - you're on your own. You can call as many times as you want, send emails, leave voicemails, send a smoke signal, and they will never get back to you. Horrible customer service and a complete lack of concern. I used Maya for a pack out and long distance move. The pack out was a complete waste of time and money. They severely underestimated the number of boxes needed and then tried to charge me additional fees. They mislabeled boxes, lost several items, threw my clothing in with other household items, etc. No peanuts or bubble wrap used - only paper, which is why several items were broken. Basically a mess. The move was somewhat better though the guys were unable to properly reassemble several pieces of furniture. I've had several long distance moves in the past and while this wasn't the absolute worst, it wasn't the best either. Between the cost and the lack of service, I cannot recommend them. read more

DONT USE THIS COMPANY!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Horrible customer service. I was supposed to receive my things on Monday and they got to me on Wednesday late afternoon. Second problem was that the reason they were late was because of their drivers, one had got into problem with an officer and got arrested. Even though I told Rafael when they came to pick up that I would be going to a military installation and that their drivers need to be able to get through the gate, he said all would be fine and they could get on. Yet one of the drivers had a Warrant and when the guard scanned his ID he arrested him because he couldn't leave the state. Then, the second driver had no OD. At the end I had to go get OWN UHUAL truck and unload my thing off their truck into mine to get it on base and in my house with my family. Then, while taking my things out of the truck 4 very expensive furniture pieces had been broken and when I filed a claim with their claims department they only gave me less than $100 for pieces that added up to more than $1000. PS-MAKE SURE TO READ YOUR CONTRACT for their "insurance". They try to distract you while you're signing so that you pick the cheaper option. Overall not worth the money I saved AT ALL! Don't use this company! PS- no one from the company has tried to contact me to see how things went or to make sure I was happy with the outcome. I'm pretty sure they don't have many military cases so they should know who I am, given that one of their drivers got arrested on the job. read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. MAYA moved me long distance from Newnan Ga to Orange Park FL. It was a disaster. Their estimate did not match their final price. They pissed off the home owner of the home I was purchasing by showing up early and blacking the entire driveway while he person was trying to move out. They damaged several pieces of furniture. I moved on July 27th 2018 but I am just now writing the review because I wanted to make sure I received my check for the damaged furniture first. I just now received that check on 12-1-2018. The claim process is a joke. The movers that showed up to my new home in FL were Russian. One spoke no English and the other spoke broken English. They complained and asked for tips numerous times. They wanted me to pay them in full before they would begin moving my furniture inside. When I refused they put me on the phone with their boss. He tried to intimidate me into paying first. I refused. He threatened to have his crew leave and not move my furniture inside my home. I called his threat and told him to leave if he wanted to. They unloaded the truck needless to say with out getting paid first. This company is a joke and so is their workers. The workers looked like they hadn't slept in days and commented they need to be in Virginia for another pick up that afternoon. My suggestion is MOVE yourself this industry is just legal extortion. After 41 years in a home in Atlanta, my wife and I moved to Arkansas. The short review is that we chose Maya Van Lines to make the move, and had a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone and, if moving again, would choose them again in a heartbeat. I cannot recommend them more highly. Now for the details: Fearing the uncertainty of the move, I read a lot and got several quotes. Based on the personal interaction with Leo, the owner, and a gut feeling of trust, I chose the highest estimate that I received. That deserves an explanation. A "binding estimate" in the moving industry only means that you must pay that much to get your furniture unloaded. It does not mean that you will not owe more once the move is completed. Leo came to my house to do the moving estimate. The 'low ball' offers made some ridiculous estimates that only became obvious to me when I saw the Maya quote. Just looking at the number of boxes estimated and weight/size totals, it was obvious that Maya was more honest, risking my rejection of a higher bid in favor of a bid that was accurate and realistic. I paid exactly the price quoted, with no quibble or hassle. Leo thought that the move would take two large moving vans, and it did. In getting quotes from brokers, I could not find out the actual mover until I committed to the broker and paid half of the estimate. That meant that I couldn't investigate the company or find out how much insurance would be. With Maya, I placed a $200 deposit six weeks before the move. That gave me the flexibility to change plans, but I did not have to make any changes. Rather than having a common feeling of being ripped off by a mover, I felt like I got the better end of the deal. There is no price for the peace of mind that I felt about the whole move. When the day of the move came, I had confidence in Maya, but the service that I got far exceeded my expectations. A crew of four came to my house to box and wrap. They were all Maya employees who knew each other and worked well together. Kevin led the team and worked hard to respond to all of my special requests. It was an example of the old story where the workers and crew chiefs are like the boss, and where the boss is good, everything else flows naturally from the top. It was a crazy day, but a truly enjoyable one. They finished most of the packing and wrapping in one day, leaving us only most of the master bedroom, TV and chairs/lamps, and a second bedroom with enough to spend a comfortable night preparing to leave the next day. Another four hours the next day got two trucks loaded. Then the trucks pulled out for the 8+ hour trip to our new home. We drove our car, and met them the next morning to unload. The two drivers, Raymond and friend (whose name I can't remember) had been part of the packing and loading crew, and two local workers were added for the unloading of the trucks. The job was done smoothly. And ALL of the people were GREAT. The quality of the packing was incredible. These folks were professional, and obviously have pride in doing a good job. Paying to have them pack the house was the best money I have ever spent. So while I encourage you to do your own investigation to pick a mover, I strongly recommend that you consider Maya. Compare their quote to others, look at the details, and make your choice. You have to live with it, so you should own it. I will add that while the house was being packed, I found out that Maya and moved my wife's best friend's daughter just two months earlier. While we had heard how happy she was with the move, we had no idea that it was Maya that did the move. So consider this a double endorsement. And consider this a big shout-out to Leo and Maya Van Lines. read more

The main reason we went with Maya Van lines was we were assured they didn't use third party contractors. They moved us from Atlanta to TX and used a third party mover without our consent! We would have never agree to this if given the choice even if that meant our shipment being delayed. They ruined almost every nice piece of furniture we had including irreplaceable antiques. We are still finding nicked furniture, missing boxes, broken chairs. So upsetting! read more

I have completed nine personal relocations, many of those corporate related. But my last three have been at my own expense. So I have some sense of what can happen and what should happen and in this case, what did happen. I hired Maya to move me from a ground floor apartment south of Atlanta to a house I bought in a St. Louis, Mo suburb. I will give credit to the five men who loaded the items from the apartment-items I had personally packed with the exceptions of beds and large furniture pieces-into a 50 foot truck. My possessions filled the truck. They did a nice job and accomplished the move in 3 1/2 hours. So far so good. However, I had specifically asked if Maya was now brokering out my goods to another party. I was told they weren't brokers but that they had a team who would take it from here. After waiting ten days I heard from the driver who would deliver my things that I should expect them the next day. They did arrive about 30 minutes beyond the window I had been given but that wasn't enough to concern me. What concerned me was the fact that what arrived was a full-fledged moving van and my things were now located in the rear half of that van. The driver, who insisted I not only provide the final check but also sign all the paperwork before the first item was off-loaded. As soon as I did, reluctantly I admit, the driver retreated to his cab where he slept for most of the next six hours as another group of three men began to unload my items. This crew was not a professional moving team. My L-shaped desk showed serious gouging and scratches apparently suffered when my possessions were moved from one truck to another. I had to stand guard on my porch as each box and item entered, giving directions to the crew despite each box being clearly labeled. When the rear doors of the moving van were opened, boxes and items shifted forward and a headboard slammed into one of the movers. He showed me the bruises he suffered as a result. At the same time, a boxed sound system crashed to the floor of the van from the top of a wobbling stack of boxes. A treadmill seemed to baffle the crew on how to get it upstairs and they had to wake the driver for his help. Since that move my son-in-law and I have easily maneuvered the same treadmill downstairs and then back upstairs. When I finally went inside to evaluate where things were, I found nothing had been reassembled as promised-not the beds, not tables that had their legs taken off, nothing. At this point, the driver, when informed that none of that had happened ask me if I still wanted it done. I said no so I could be rid of this crew. Now, more than a week later, I'm still assembling furniture, discovering broken items, a missing Oriental rug, and more issues than I can count. Maya should stick to doing moves inside Georgia where they seem to at least have some success. But if your move is out of state, do not use this company. read more

From getting a quote, which was comparable to others I got, to moving the last item off the truck, they were thoroughly professional and awesome to work with; the crew of there was extremely quick yet very methodical and careful while handling all our items. I called Maya Van Lines, cause I was highly recommended that this company would be reasonable, they gave me a very high quote to move from Austell, Ga to North Carolina. These people are RIP OFFS! If you are moving out of state do not use this company, they will give a very high estimate on a two bedroom small house with not a lot of furniture and the miles were only 295 the cost of this move should be 1200.00 to 1300.00 not 1800.00 to 2000.00. I just called Cheap Cheap Movers of Atlanta, and I got a much better estimate of 1200.00 to move my furniture North Carolina. They will call me back tomorrow to let me know if on a certain date they can move my furniture, I look forward to this move. read more

We hired Maya Van Lines to coordinate our move from Atlanta to Iowa. We contacted them in May 2016 to move in June 2016. We were moving an 8,500 sq ft residence and a family of 7, 950 miles. First, we are experienced movers, moving every 3-4 years. I have NEVER experienced such an uncoordinated, unprofessional move. The estimation process was fine. Raphael assured me they could handle a move of this size and distance. Leo assured me of their professionalism and accuracy of their estimates etc. The first issue occurred when Leo contacted me to move 8 days prior to what we had agreed upon. When I couldn't accommodate this, my move unraveled. The packing was unprofessional with many boxes unlabeled or mislabeled, breakable items packed with heavy ones, all my furniture was disassembled (some of it was not able to be reassembled), Too much damage and breakable to list. Packing estimate was off. It took an extra 8 hours (we would have missed our flight), they wanted to leave items at our house in ATL when they wouldn't fit on the truck. We were told our belongings would be packed onto the semi-truck and driven straight to Iowa. Our items were put in a warehouse in ATL for 2 days before being shipped in 2 semitrailers arriving 4 days after packing completed and 6 days after completion. Iowa moving crews were not professionals but men who appeared down on their luck and homeless. Second truck was not even driven by Maya employees but outsourced to guys from Miami who appeared to be in Eastern European mafia and threatened to dump my stuff in the driveway (not even bring it into the house) and said they would not assemble anything (remember, packers took the legs, arms, table tops, everything apart). Lost screws, stripped holes, broken furniture, pictures, ceramics etc. My kitchen table laid on the kitchen floor for 2 days disassembled. Leo does not remember conversations, so I recommend recording everything and confirming in writing. Raphael over promises and under-delivers on every aspect. I found out afterwards they had never done a move of this size/distance. This was by far the most stressful, damaging, poorly managed move that I still PAID FULL PRICE FOR!!!! Did a cross country move from Atlanta to Vegas and from the very beginning they were very deceptive on what the price would be. They did not explain how long it would take to move my things. Initial I would told between 8 to 10 days. Later after several calls no one would even give me a call back and update me on the move or possible delivery date. It took 20 days to move a small load out to Las Vegas. I was told the final price and what to pay when they deliver the furniture. After 20 days when they came to my place they demanded another $150 in order to move my stuff in, The truck was on the front of the building and they said it was a long haul to move it to the back of the building and upstairs to my condo unit. I was told there would not no extra fee for either of these items in Atlanta but I was lied too. I feel the company is doing a bait and switch and will tell you anything to get your business and 1/2 the money and then they change the price and hold your stuff hostage.
