    Enchiladas Combinadas
    Patrick Z.

Was craving tex mex baddd and being from Texas, that's a hard craving to satisfy in NYC. Maz Mezcal honestly did not do a bad job, I enjoyed this meal. I got the Enchiladas Combinadas platter which featured three different enchiladas, rice, and refried beans. The chicken and cheese enchiladas were pretty good. Seasoning on the chicken was nice and the red sauce worked well with it. The beef enchilada I thought was just fine and lacked a bit of depth to it. Rice was fine and beans were great. I also got chips and the Salsa Verde on the side which was also okay. I did love the flavor and heat of the salsa but it was very runny and hard to scoop up with the chips. To drink I had a virgin Frozen Blackberry Marg which was refreshing!

This has always been on my list to check out and I am so happy I did! The minute you walk in, you will be greeted by so many colors and patterns and the decor is absolutely beautiful. From the walls, the stairs, and even the bathroom tiles. I opted for the Sekaloff's Fiesta which included a sample platter of beef and chicken fajitas, quesadillas, flautitas and grilled rajas de chorizo, accompanied with guacamole and mole dip. I thought this was pretty great and my favorite bites had to be the quesadillas and the mole dip. The mole was delicious and nicely balanced. The quesadillas in my opinion were one of the best I ever had. The ratio of bread to cheese was evenly balanced and proportioned and then the fry on that was perfect for me. Each bite I had had a really great crispiness and then a barrage of flavor. I actually wish I had ordered some quesadillas to go. The only downside for me in this dish was that the beef fajitas were a bit tough to both cut through and chew through. Some of it was medium rare and the others were well done. I had a hard time cutting through them even with a knife. I never had flautitas before but I found myself really enjoying them! I do wish the chicken inside could've been shredded to make the biting a bit easier but otherwise a really great dish! Considering it is the upper east side, the menu is a bit pricier than what I usually pay for Mexican food however, I thought my money here was well spent .

Been coming to this restaurant for 15 years. Have always enjoyed the food. And the atmosphere on the service. Unfortunately they are closing Saturday and moving to a new location. So had to come for one less building before they close. As usual everything was delicious from the fajitas to the queso. Highly recommend the steak fajitas!!

Really great place for veg Mexican food! Ambience was good - we sat outside and service was quick. Their virgin drinks are great - I tried passion fruit drink . We ordered veg chilli relenos and veg enchiladas it was amazing very tasty and quantity was great

Came here this weekend. The decor is very cute and definitely keeps the vibe going. The drinks are great! The food is very good. Everything had very good taste. The mango tacos were delicious! Corn was really flavorful and served on a stick like a popsicle! Service was really good as well. We didn't have to wait long but if you're going with a bigger party, I would recommend trying to book a reservation!

Went here on a friend's suggestion. The place is nice, the staff too. Unfortunately they mixed up the vegetarian dish, which we recognised too late. The food unfortunately was also not worth it, too expensive for what they served. I cannot recommend to come here. I will definitely not come again.

I often walk past this place, and it seems to always be busy, so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered online and took it to-go. I got the Enchiladas Combinadas with 3 cheese enchiladas. It came with rice and beans and was $24.99 with tax. Honestly, I wasn't very impressed. I'm from Texas, so I'm picky about my Mexican food. My biggest complaint was that the red sauce wasn't very good. I wish they had a chile con carne or similar option. Overall, the food could be better and is overpriced for what you get.

Unappetizing food, dull ambience, complimented with lazy and terrible service and equally terrible Cocktails. My friend called it the worst restaurant in NYC she has ever been to. My advise is to stay away unless you have no bench mark for Mexican food. Skinny cocktails were overtly sugared despite us specifying that we do not like sweet cocktails. We tried telling our server but he showed zero interest in making any amends. He was the classic example of an unskilled and disinterested person who can literally screw up your business. Spicy chicken mole was very sweet. When we told the server, he casually remarked that it's just written as spicy but it isn't suppose to be. I don't know what that really means. On insisting that he takes it back and ask the chef to make amends, he simply told us to add habanero sauce ourselves. Vegan platter was unappetizing in appearance and taste. There was no sauce or seasoning on it except salt. We were foolishly persistent and tried telling our server for the 3rd time as to how terrible the dish was. He simply nodded and left. Also tried charging us $3.5 each for habanero sauce and mango salsa, which is given complimentary at restaurants. We finally gave feedback to the owner, though it was too little too late. Our bad as well as we didn't know she was around. Appreciate that she was very receptive to it and offered to refund a part of our bill. We politely declined as we didn't want it to affect her financially. I'm surely never returning here, there a million better options in the city.

Great Mexican spot located on the UES! If you want no frills, good food this is your spot! Beyond friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Plenty of tables inside so we were able to beat the heat and be seated right away. The food was classic Mexican and amazing. The chips and salsa they give you when you sit down are top notch. The guac was refreshing and classic. I'd recommend the fajitas but my partner loved his flautas. So listen to your heart with the menu and you'll be a happy camper!

Definitely make it a point to end up here a few times a month, and never disappoints. First off, their frozen margaritas are the BEST, so smooth, so many flavors and super subtle. Sometimes places go all out with so much syrup they end up gross, but not here. My favorites are the green apple and the coconut. Try them! Love sitting at the bar, but...due to Covid been trying to hang outside for a bit, and luckily the weather has been allowing this. Anyway, bartenders are AWESOME, attentive and on point. You always get started with chips and a trio of salsas...the green is spectacular! We usually just do drinks and snacks here, so I can't speak for the menu. The chicken quesadilla is excellent, and almost double stuffed! Love their chorizo nachos, and I LOVE when places do individual nachos (as well as the messy ones!) because then you know each chip is going to be good :) We've had some other things during on adventures (their queso dip is also excellent!) but usually just head there for margs and guac.

I've been to The Record Room twice now, and I definitely have mixed feelings about this place…read more First, I'll give credit where it's due--the ambiance is really nice and overall it's a nice-looking spot. The crowd also tends to be a little more mature, so if you're 30+ and looking for an older crowd, this may be your type of place. The food selection, however, is pretty limited, and the music really seems to depend on which DJ is there. Some DJs are good and others are just okay. The last time I went was Wednesday, July 29, and while I had an okay time, the DJ really wasn't all that. My biggest concern, though, is the liquor. My usual drink is Grey Goose or Tito's with soda water. I drink this regularly at home and at other places without waking up with a headache. Both times I visited The Record Room, I specifically ordered Grey Goose with soda water, and both times I woke up with a significant headache. The first time, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured it could have been a coincidence. That's actually one of the reasons I was willing to go back. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened after my second visit. I obviously cannot confirm what was actually poured, but because this has happened both times at this particular establishment, it does make me question whether I was actually being served the liquor I requested and paid for. When you're paying top-shelf prices, you should feel confident that you're receiving the brand you ordered. Overall: nice ambiance, mature crowd, limited food options, hit-or-miss DJs, and unfortunately a liquor experience that has now left me questioning what I was served twice. For those reasons, 2 out of 5 stars for me.

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.
