Wow! This was an outstanding dining experience! It was our first time trying this restaurant, and we came with a moderately sized group (about 7 people). We had made a reservation for the large group which was no problem at all. Ambiance A smallish dining room very simply but comfortably decorated. Parking can be a bit tricky; there is a lot on the side. Service Wonderful service! The server was initially a bit overwhelmed by the size of the party, but she got the hang of it. Drinks were refilled pretty regularly. Later the wonderful owner came out to chat with us. She saw we had brought a large bakery cake to celebrate a birthday and insisted on cutting it up and serving it to everyone. What a nice gesture! She chatted with the group asking everyone's name and just engaging in pleasant small talk. She was a gem! Food The food was excellent! We tried the chicken kabob platter with potato salad and falafel as well as the chicken schwarma with hummus and tsatsziki. Wow! Both were excellent. The kabob was served off the wooden stick with large portions of juicy chicken breasts with a wonderful grilled taste. The potato salad was delicious, and the falafel was delicious as well with a crispy exterior and flavorful interior. Similarly the schwarma and its sauce was juicy and delicious. The hummus and tsatsziki were also delicious, and it was delicious dipping the pita in the hummus and tsatsziki. Definitely ask for the complimentary side of tahini sauce too! So flavorful and a wonderful accompaniment to the complimentary pita bread. The pita bread itself was also delicious. Warm and chewy. Perfect! For dessert? A wonderful small namoura cake which was just sweet enough to top the meal off nicely. Overall the food was excellent!! This is by far my favorite Mediterranean place to eat in all of Columbus. Their food is always consistently great, their hummus is always the perfect consistency and they are all so nice! In my office we always talked about getting their hummus to bring in for snacks because it's the best around. They are available, inviting and encouraging (especially if you tell them you want to try something new). I have basically tried everything on their menu (ok ok.. I have tried everything on the menu) and I have enjoyed everything. Give them a try, especially if you're new to Mediterranean food, start with your standards high! read more

Wonderful Mediterranean place in Grandview! The inside felt very homey with great art pieces on the walls! We went as a group of five for the restaurant week! Everything was delicious and you can see that it's a great deal for the price! Ive ordered the lamb kabobs with the tzatziki? The greek yogurt and cheesy mushrooms! My friends ordered the hummus, falafel, salads! Everything was delicious! The lamb was a clean aftertaste and cooked just the way i wanted it! The yogurt was refreshing and flavorful! I'm sorry to say that we had a fairly disappointing experience at Mazah. First of all, I should point out that the serving staff is extremely friendly and attentive, so no issues there...but there were a few other issues overall. We (my sister, my girlfriend, and I) decided to get an entree and small shareable plate each, which amounted to baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, and tzatziki with pita, as well as beef shawarma in a pita (me), a chicken kebab, and a chicken shawarma salad. The shareables were all pretty good, and two of the entrees came out in a reasonable amount of time. The third entree, the salad, didn't arrive for over five minutes after the first two, however, and being polite people, my girlfriend and I opted to not eat until it made it out. The server apologized for the issue, and that was that. Once we started eating, we all remarked on just how salty our entrees were. Each of them was definitely overseasoned for our palates, which was quite disappointing. There were a few other minor items that may have had more to do with our misreading the menu than anything else, so I won't include those here, but all in all, we left Mazah feeling a bit "meh," knowing that there are other great Mediterranean restaurants in Columbus. read more

The food here is great; I've been multiple times and have never disappointed. My recommendation is the Couples Platter - which is accurately detailed in other reviews. Suffice it to say that the Platter is a tremendous value and a fantastic meal. Ambience is good if you set your expectations properly. Matzah is not fancy. The place is small and, while it is not old building-wise it is old world in its atmosphere. You are likely to see staff and family members come and go and they are often eating together at one of the tables. I think that this is all great but if you have an issue with your server attending to you between courses of his meal then be forewarned. My only real issue with the place is the single entry door that lets in blasts of cold air when someone enters in the winter I've always found the service to be fantastic - very attentive and friendly read more

Mazah is an amazing restaurant. Our server was really prompt, friendly and informative. I got the falafel platter, with hummus and potato salad, which filled me up for $10. The falafel was crispy and flavorful, and my two side choices were hummus and potato salad. The hummus was also really smooth and went well with the pita bread or falafel. I thought the potato salad was alright, and I'm not much of a potato salad person but I was feeling adventurous. This place is an incredible value for what you get. Amazing, filling food for $10??? I'm here for restaurant week of course! I took an adventure outside my neighborhood to Grandview. I arrived at Mazah it was packed and I had a 20 minute wait. It wasn't an issue I had my book and went for a walk. I had plenty of time to take a stroll down 5th. I forgot about the restaurants in the area and I like the look and feel of Grandview. Once I made it back I finished a short chapter of my book and I was seated. It was the fastest 20 minute wait. I ordered the chicken shawarma,vegan potato salad and vegan tzatziki. I was surprised to find a sauce that wasn't based on nuts or coconut! I should have asked about the base for the vegan tzatziki because it was delicious! The food also came with fries,pita and a mix of vegetables for eating and dipping. It was worth the trip and plenty of leftovers. Short staffed for a busy nite everyone was helpful and patient. I really liked Mazah...not the best mediterranean food I've ever had but it's pretty good. Honestly, I could probably do without the food...but that turkish coffee-- dear goodness gracious!!!!!!! I ordered two and wanted more. It's sooooooo delicious! It's a quaint little spot and our waiter was great-- very charming. There were even some vegan options on the menu, which was MUCH appreciated! There parking in the rear, I believe, as well as street parking in front. Whatever you do, do not park at the church right across the street unless you enjoy the towing experience. I live in the Grandview area, so I frequent the strip on Grandview Avenue quite often. I really love Mazah as a newer addition to the area! First off, I've been really enjoying all the the new places around Columbus that have ethnic types of food, and Mazah is an excellent choice for Mediterranean food! I've stopped in for lunch and love the sandwiches made with pita bread, and I've been in for dinner and enjoy that as well. The meat is always super tender and the side options are great! You can get a Greek salad, hummus, potato salad and several other options with you meal. Each side I've tried has been great, so you can't go wrong! The place is cute inside with a nice patio and bar area, as well as the dining room area. They closer earlier than most of the other restaurants along Grandview Avenue, so make sure to check the times! They also so salsa lessons and dancing on Saturday nights which I can't wait to check out! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. I've found that it's hit or miss here. Sometimes I've had great service, but other times is been slow and not too attentive. read more

Unlike other places' platters, this was quite filling - the hummus may not be as great as some of the reviews suggest, but was decent, and the falafels and kefta were tasty too. I dined in once over Christmas break while we were searching for a place to do catering for our wedding, and I wasn't super impressed at the time (particularly with the table service) BUT I reached out to them via their website to get some more information about their carry out menu. Katy was super helpful in letting me know what they had, and was happy to set up an in-person consultation. I had looked at the menu online and had some ideas for what I wanted, but after explaining the set-up of the venue and our limitations on serving hot foods, Katy suggested several items that I hadn't considered previously, but would be excellent served cold and would provide some substance to go with the array of salads that I had picked already. We ended up with the following menu: - Sfeha (open face meat pies) - Kibbeh balls - Cabbage salad - Potato salad - Fattoush - Mujadara - Hummus - Baba ghanoush - Pita - Pickle trays for a cost of around $900 to serve 60-70 people (we had TONS of leftover, and gave out take-away containers to our guests). We arranged for a 3pm pickup the Friday before the wedding, and it looked like the whole family was pitching in to help prepare our order. Everything was very fresh, labeled by name, and Maggie gave us instructions on how to hold and serve the food for the next day. We barely got it all to fit in my sedan (my sisters were holding trays of pickles and boxes of pita on their laps). We got rave reviews of the food -- even though the menu was light on meat (and we had many carnivorous guests) -- and the vegetarian guests were thrilled at the options. If you are looking to do self-catering for an event on a budget, or need to feed a lot of people a mostly vegetarian menu, this is a fantastic choice. I'm really happy with their work (and may still have some mujadara in the freezer...). read more

Best restaurant in Columbus! My family of 7 just finished a large Mazah meal that was delivered exactly on time. As always, the food tastes like you've just been served a home-cooked meal. Admittedly, we are stuck on our favorites (chicken shawarma, lamb and chicken kebobs, falafel, baba ghanoush, and, of course, perfect hummus), but in these awful times, why not stick with things that make us happy? And Mazah makes us all incredibly happy. My 15 year-old son finished his meal and said, "Man, I could live on that." I think I could, too. I really hope Columbus is treating Mazah right. We need to support family restaurants. My daughter and I used to have a tradition of going to Mazah on the first day of summer break. God, do I hope that can actually happen again! read more

We went for Columbus Restaurant week. Parking was easy. The building and dining room were immaculate. We were seated on the patio...yes, the patio in January. MADE THE NIGHT! The bistro style patio was enclosed and heated. So cozy! We had a perfect view of everything, even the pay per view on TV inside. Our server was friendly and prompt. She was very hospitable. The falafel, hummus and grape leaves were great. Fresh, flavorful and well plated. A delightful slaw was seved with the grape leaves as well. The lamb kabobs were excellent. Cooked properly with perfect spice. My fataya, soooo bland. I was very disappointed. It seemed like it was missing many things. Like a dry biscuit stuffed with plain canned spinach. If I could give it zero stars I would! I'm not even sure if it counts as Mediterranean food! I ordered the Chicken kebob a la carte, and my friend ordered the chicken sharwarma ALC. The rice felt and tasted like uncle bens chicken flavor rice I could have made better, it was half done, super dry! The chicken was superrrrr salty, the only flavor I tasted was salt, no other spices. People serving was nice though and friendly! Can't say I'll be back. read more

Very very disappointing!!! The chicken shwarma is totally tasteless!!! I did not taste the 12 spices and not even one spice. Horrible!!! It wasn't seared either, it was like a chicken curry without the curry. Chicken strips swiming in some kind of tasteless semi-sauce. I don't know what this thing was!!! The chicken was also hard coming directly frozen from Costco. Shwarma is supposed to be grilled or at least seared and caramelized but not at all here. The falafel also pretty tasteless. The hummus and babagranush without any body, put in a blender and served. NOT COMING BACK AND NOT RECOMMENDED.This is not real Lebanese food and I sincerely don't have an idea of what it was. This place is deplorable. First off they have a $12 "lunch special" that has the same cost as the chicken schwarma platter except it comes with less food. The service was very subpar. Two tables that came in after us got their food first. It took forever to get water refills. As I bit into the lukewarm, dry pita bread I immiediately knew it was not made in house. The waiter confirmed they were store bought. Tsatziki sauce is typically complimentary with a meal. They have it listed at a $1 upcharge but my co-worker was charged $1.50. Goose Island beer priced at $8 and straight liquor is at the same price point as cocktails. Simply a terribly managed restaurant. Don't go here. read more

I have been to Mazah multiple times now, and absolutely love it. My go to is the kefta platter, with hummus and the lentil salad. The kefta is like gyro meat but in ground patty style, grilled and cut into strips. That description is not the best, but the flavor is amazing. They also have THE BEST hummus I have ever had. They sell it by the pound, and every few weeks I pick some up. Delicious! So far there have been only a few things that were lackluster. The lamb kebobs are okay, but they don't have much flavor and are only so-so. Pita bread is obviously not home made, but I have celiac, so I can only go on the comments of those who can eat it. They used to have a gluten free dessert, but got rid of it. *sad face* Service is either great, or meh-okay. There are a few servers who seem more robotic, and only do the minimum to get by. The others have been great, very personable, and make you feel at home. Overall, not bad by any means, but could improve. The tables themselves provide entertainment/annoyance. They are concave, and so your drinks tend to slide toward the middle of any table. So far we have not had any mishaps, but it's something to watch out for. I definitely recommend Mazah to anyone going to the Grandview area, and Columbus in general. Just keep in mind that not EVERYTHING will blow you away. read more

Underwhelming. You can get equivalent or better Mediterranean at other places in town for considerably less money. The sampler is a good option to get more bang for your buck as it includes a soup, an appetizer course and an entree. We sat and waited on several occasions while staff with little work to do stood in front of televisions at the bar watching sports. The alcohol is overpriced, suggesting that you must be paying for the ambiance and experience. Well, we didn't think the experience was worth the upcharge. Won't lkely be back when I can get better falafel across town for $5. Having put off trying this local favorite of yelper friends, this experience was a bummer. read more

Oh I love Mazah! I've only ever ordered the Dinner Sampler or the Family Mazah appetizer because WHY OH WHY would I order anything else?! The dinner sampler (~$25, serves 2) is a great way to try a lot of what Mazah offers, including a choice of soup or salad, a couple of cold bean/veggie salads, Baba Ghanoush, Hummus, Falafel, and an entree of your choice from the list they provide. I like the Chicken Shwarma, which comes with chicken and rice. And everything is delicious. Seriously -- I love Mazah! My most recent discovery is the Family Mazah appetizer, which I've ordered as takeout. You get wonderfully sized portions of Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Tsatsziki, Olives, Labaneh, Pickled Vegetables, and Pita Bread. For $19, I have an awesome array of dips and accoutrements that I end up enjoying for a meal AND taking for lunch the next couple of days. Came here for a going away party for a large group (15 people), and I'm impressed! It was not a busy Wednesday night. The reservation was not painful. When we arrived here 15 minutes before our reserved time, the tables were ready for us. We called in ahead to order, and they started prepping our food before we showed up at the door. Although we only had one waitress, she was super attentive and on top of her game the whole time. Of course, the restaurant is only as good as the food. We decided to get eight 2 for 25 sampler. The appetizers are absolutely delicious. The hummus was probably the best I've had in town. The falafel was sooooooo good. It makes my mouth water just writing about them. My chicken shwarma was very tender, but got a little salty after eating most of the plate. Other people around the table reported their chicken kebob cooked perfectly. So why the 4 stars? It was 7pm, and they had no beef left for beef shwarma. Although they offered to change it to lamb at no extra charge, the lamb was cooked somewhat tough, and are in giant chunks. Let me start by saying I started going here when it first opened, and I've recommended it to a couple dozen people over the years. Tonight, a Lebanese friend warned me: "Maggie, the owner isn't around much anymore and the place has gone downhill." I didn't believe her and I went anyway. I'm very disappointed to say she was correct: my food was so bland. I had to cover everything with hot sauce to get some flavor. Is it as bad as their competitor down the street? No. But, this wasn't the Mazah I used to know. And if this wasn't a one-off experience, I can no longer recommend that people go here. I talked to the owner many times over the years, so it pains me to write a bad review. But, the quality of my meal was just not good enough. Here's hoping for a turnaround. read more
