I love to have more options when it comes to Mediterranean food. I have a few others that I frequent, and I think this one will most certainly be added to to the rotation. This was my first time here and I chose a few of my favorite things. I ordered baba ganoush, tabbouleh and spanakopita. The baba ganoush was tasty, the eggplant had just the right amount of smokiness from being roasted. It was also fresh with the lemon juice. The tabbouleh was delightful with a good crunch from all the parsley. Spanakopita was my least favorite of the three, but still good none the less! My only qualm was that the wrapper was not as crispy as I prefer. The dining room is nice. It gives a little bit of a fast food and dine in vibe with some booths and tables. The service was great, both people who helped us were very nice! I look forward to trying some of their other menu items!

In the pursuit of Mediterranean flavors and trying something new, we stumbled upon Mazaya. Right where UNM students and professors enjoy their meals, this place was comfortable and interestingly decorated. The server was quite helpful, as I am going through some lactose intolerance. Making sure I was not accidentally exposed, she asked the cook and offered something appropriate for my needs. We ordered some hummus for the table. It was creamy, with great flavor, and a very generous amount of olive oil. We loved the Zia symbol decoration. The chicken shawarma platter was decent but not great, and the saffron rice was quite different but unfortunately not to our liking. The kefta kebab wrap was tasty and perfectly sized for me, and the tabouleh salad was great, with a little splash of subtle sweetness with some pomegranate. Overall, our experience was right in the middle, with some good things, like the hummus and tabouleh, but some suboptimal flavors on the chicken and the rice.

We were looking for a change in food from the typical New Mexico flair. We were welcomed right away upon entering. The place was very clean and well maintained. There were several things we wanted to try but decided on the Chicken Shawarma Platter and a starter of hummus and pita. The flavors were delicious and the portion sizes were hearty! Not one thing was a disappointment. This was a great find on our trip to Albuquerque.

Mazaya Cafe has such a charming, cute atmosphere and the food is genuinely delicious. The flavors are bold, fresh, and exactly what you want from Mediterranean cooking. The only downsides besides the neighborhood were that the plating was a little rough and the dishes didn't all come out together, but the quality of the food still shined. With a little more polish, this place could be a real standout.

I kept hearing great things about this place and finally got the chance to give it a try. I'm so glad I did, I will definitely be back. I had the lentil soup which really hit the spot in the chilly weather. Also the stuffed grape leaves and the spanikopita. Everything was delicious. It's a pretty small place but it wasn't that crowded on a Friday night. It looks a bit like a diner inside, but don't let that deter you, the food is absolutely delightful. There really aren't enough places like this around and I"m glad there's one of these down near UNM. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a tasty meal experience. There are also a lot of vegetarian options which is great.

So I only took a photo of the outside. I was meeting a friend for lunch and we got to talking and I spaced out taking pictures. My waiter was great, he could tell I had no idea what I was ordering since I'd never been here. He was super helpful. I finally ordered the Chicken Shawarma Platter. It didn't disappoint. The rice and chicken and pita were great. Good choice for trying it out for the first time. Nice place, plenty of seating and great staff.

This was my first time here and it was phenomenal. The service was extremely polite. The restaurant is very open with a lot of seating options and areas for even larger groups. Pretty decent sized menu with lots of delicious options. I will absolutely be back here again and again.

wow wow wow. we got the shared platter and greek fries and every single thing that came out was absolutely amazing. such a great value. if i was a college student, id be here every week. everything was so fresh and all the marinades and seasonings were each unique to the meat and veggie they were on.

First of this was a great Yelp find. Very friendly folks. Very interesting decor and the food was spectacular. Greeted at the door and seated immediately. Food was prepared and brought out promptly. Service was spot on as my water glass was never empty. Only negative was street pay parking. Other than that great experience.

Okay, so this place has been here for as long as I can remember but I had never tried it. It's safe to say this is probably my favorite mediterranean food at the moment and I was missing out this whole time. The tzatziki, hummus and spicy garlic sauces alone were delicious. The restaurant is very nice and service was very quick. It was sit down style and everything came out hot. Will definitely be back.

One of my favorite places for a laid back meal in Nob Hill. Service is friendly, and the chicken shawerma is amazing. Chicken is wrapped with a yogurt based sauce and pickles. The lentil soup is also worth a try if you've never had it before. read more

A couple of weeks ago my friend and I decided to have dinner together and it was my turn to pick the place. She's vegetarian, so I searched on good old Yelp for restaurants with vegetarian options. I found this place and it had great ratings and reviews. We decided to meet up here, and I arrived first. When I walked it the place looked so comfortable and inviting. They had this really cute couch you could sit at while you waited. I was greeted by a young lady and she sat me down at a table. I let her know I was waiting for someone and I went ahead and ordered both of us water. She was so nice and sweet. When my friend arrived we ordered our food. Our server was polite and pretty cool. The lighting was so great to we just felt so comfortable, and relaxed. Our appetizer came ( I had ordered a falafel it was my first time trying it) it was so delicious! The chicken shawarma wrap and a side salad. The salad was so delectable! The salad was so fresh and just the right dressing. The chicken shawarma wrap was also delicious! I was so satisfied with what I ordered. I just drank water and every single time I was almost done with it our servers would refill it right away. I am always looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant well...Mazaya Cafe is one of them in Albuquerque. The chicken shawerma wrap was excellent! The chicken was flavored well with amazing garlic sauce. I could have drank the garlic sauce! The falafel platter was really good some of the top falafel's I have had in Albuquerque plus they are prepared in peanut oil...delicious. I will definitely be returning to Mazaya Cafe! read more

This little Nepalese cafe in the Brick Light District off Central in ABQ has very, very good lamb kabobs, flavorful basmati rice, tangy salad, and delicious humus served with wheat pitas. Not a fan of dolmas, just cuz I'm not, but everything was freshly made, spiced well, and great aroma. The baklava was good too and not overly sweet. The atmosphere is nice but the lighting is a little cold - new warmer light bulbs might change that. Great little place that I can happily recommend. read more

Really good food! I ordered the kefta kabob wrap. It was seasoned perfectly and the hummus was very tasty. My boyfriend ordered the chicken shawarma platter. Rice was really good. However, the chicken was a tad dry. When we added the sauce, rice and chicken on top of the pita bread they gave us it came together really good. Very filling. Before we got our food they gave us some lentil soup with some sort of crackers and a lemon. The crackers had a nice crunchy texture and tasted wonderful when added to the soup. The server was super friendly. Overall, I would definitely come back for the kefta kabob wrap. I think next time I'll try their desserts. read more

Staying in town and needed something delivered to our hotel before we got our rental. Great decision. Was delivered fast and the food exceeded expectations (when are delivered french fries any good?? These were still warm and crispy!). Anyway veggie platter, extra hummus, wrap, all very tasty. We ate every bite. read more

Have to check out any place that serves falafel and hummus. I had a pretty decent first experience here. From the outside Mazaya is very welcoming. On the inside they use a lot of bright warm colors that make you feel good when you walk in. My order was a take out order. I got dolmas, falafel, hummus and babaganoush. Everything was seasoned very well. The order was prepared well within the time line. They were very nice upon picking up the order. I may come back to try other options. read more

I'm a bit of a hummus snob, and outside of takeout only this is the first hummus in town that has met with my approval. Chicken shawarma is mighty tasty, good sides. The price is a bit steep for the amount of food, and the service is a bit slow, but definitely a nice "date" spot. read more

Got a vegetarian plate which was very good and created a whole experience of eating lunch with little sides, pickled vegetables, and sauces to taste and get a whole sampling at one time. Vegetarian friendly, very nice counter staff, nice quiet atmosphere. Topped it off with good tea. read more

We ordered at a couple of minutes after 6 and didn't receive our food until 6:50, almost an hour later. We told them early on that we were trying to make the 7 pm Lobo game, but nothing we said or did got our order out of the kitchen any faster. Once the food arrived it was pretty good, but not great. My meat was burned on the outside but not cooked inside. The babaganoush had an odd flavor, the pitas were whole wheat, which isn't my favorite. The hummus was really good and had a cool Zia symbol in spices. I probably won't be back, certainly not before a game or event. read more

They can't even take the time to acknowledge you and say hello when you walk in their door. I personally find that to be the most insulting action a restaurant can do especially when I'm in there trying to spend my hard earned money. Good luck with that business model read more

On Harvard in the UNM Bricklight District. Came down for Wednesday Bricklight Nights from 6-9. They give a 15% discount and there's great free music! On top of that Check-In with them on Yelp and you get a free Baklava. We had two Wraps an ice tea and two deserts for about $20. Take advantage of these specials. What a nice evening at the event and a nice choice of local dining establishments. read more

Went to this place after a really bad day !! We were on a trip to New Mexico, we had such a bad flight and a bad day, but this place had really made our day !!! We took the Veggie Platter & Veg MoMo's , god they were so GREAT !!!! I am from India & have been staying in CA from few years, but never ever had such Amazing MoMo's in the whole of India or CA like really really never ever !!!! The Ambience was great, the place was so clean & hygienic that the minute you enter the restaurant who would that feel of "This is going to be one great meal" Not to forget that the staff was so polite & friendly. We just loved this place...if only this was in San Diego it would be our go to place for sure !! This place is a must try...you just can't and shouldn't miss it !!! I was visiting from out of town and was looking for something close by my hotel. Over all, the place had wonderful service. I got my food in just a matter of minutes! I ordered the chicken shish-kabob plate, lentil soup, and the vegetarian momo. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and filling! The chicken shish-kabob plate came with marinated chicken served with rice, onions, and tomatoes, I especially liked the hummus that came with it. The lentil soup was the perfect appetizer. My favorite was the steamed vegetable momo's. They were filled with spiced paneer and veggies. I heard one of the owners was Nepali and added the momo's to the menu as his/her favorite. I liked the fusion Mediterranean and Nepalese elements to the menu. I would definitely stop here again on my next trip! read more

The rice is good! That's it. I ordered the lamb kebob. The veggies were cook very well, couldn't cut through the lamb. The "Greek Salad" completely untouchable! Can't even describe! Dolmas so soggy, a texture of dog food cones to mind. Feel very sorry people in New Mexico who think this is good. Biggest waste of $30! Taco Bell is better read more

I really enjoyed the lamb kebabs I got here. I only wish I'd come without my kids because they have a harder time chewing the tougher meat and in hindsight I should've got them chicken. I'd like to come back and try Mazaya café again and really see what the raving yelpers are all about. I was disappointed with the baklava but then again I'm spoiled with having had some of the best baklava in town not too far away. The hummus was good although not quite as great as the San Pedro Mediterranean restaurant which I consider to be the best in town. read more

Amazing twist on the classic Medaterran cuisine. I ordered the lamb kebab and it was amazing. It is grilled with peppers and pearl onions. It was cooked to perfection and needed just a touch of salt. It is served with rice, salad, hummus, and your choice of tortilla or pita bread. The salad is tangy and delicious. The pita bread and hummus is prepared with great care and the consistency of the hummus is amazing. Not too thin or thick. I came into the cafe on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't too busy but the cafe is very clean and looks beautiful. The staff was nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place if Medaterranian food interests you. read more

I was looking for a Mediterranean meal and I'm really happy I found this place. I stopped in for a take-out order and both employees I encountered were friendly and professional. It was very salty and not at all seasoned like (literally) thousands of other kefta I've had wrapped in bread over the years. After hearing great reviews about this place, me and my wife decided to give it try. It was our first time to Mediterranean food. We ordered different things from Menu. Everything we tried were delicious. It was way above our expectations. We tried lentil soup and crispy falafel for appetizer. They were amazing. My wife had mix and match kebab and I had chicken momos and fattoush salad. We absolutely loved this place. It is a must try in Albuquerque. Also the interior was very nice and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Go and see it and enjoy by yourself. read more

I was in new mexico to visit my cousin and she took me to Mazaya cafe for lunch. I was really surprise when i tasted there food. We ordered chicken momo and falafal and ofcouse tge himalayan tea. The chicken momo was so tasty and juicy and the spices was just right. Also the staff were very polite and welcoming. The manager also took his time to ask us about the food and service, not many restaurants do that. Before getting back to Nj i went there couple of time but everytime it was same great service nad food. I am surprise how could they hav some bad reviews. Lamb kebab hit the spot and vegetarian platter the best choice for the people who is vegetarian. Momo is the best as the appetizer which was made from the spices of Nepal. The variety on the menu, the warm and friendly staff, food that is hot to the touch when it arrives at your table, and frequent checking in to see to the client's needs, are all appreciated. If you like Mediterranean food, this is the place! If you're curious, come with an open mind. Ask questions if you're not sure. MOST IMPORTANT- If you come with a large group, pool the check, use your IPhone's calculator if you're not good at arithmetic, divide the cost between yourselves. Don't expect the wait staff to calculate individual checks for a party of twelve. When I'm out with FRIENDS AND FAMILY, I come for the warm company and lively conversation. The food is important, but secondary to family and friends. If I have to spend my time keeping track of who ate what, who drank what, etc. I'm not enjoying myself. Give the server and your fellow diners a break. It's the decent thing to do. I'm going back to Par's every chance I get.

The hubby ordered the chicken breast kabob with south of the border chicken. I got the boneless lamb kabob. With our orders came a surprise Kurdish soup with lentils, fideos, and Kurdish spices. First, the bread and soups were simple yet familiar, powerful, and delicious. The lamb was tender, well seasoned, and delightful. Now, the south of the border chicken breast was an amazing surprise; it was juicy, tender, a bit spicy, and absolutely perfect. The rice was another great example of simplicity and beauty.
