This is the third time we've eaten here in the 8 months we've lived in the area. This is the second time it has taken over 40 minutes to get our food after we ordered. They are extremely understaffed. The line of those who ordered take out was taken even longer. The food stacked up in the window while the only two employees out front kept taking orders without stopping to pass food out. After years of eating at other McAlister's, this one obviously has a management issue. Finally two more employees showed up and got them caught up. It was an hour too late. read more

Usually this place is very good. I ordered a BLT+A and a baked potato with bacon and cheddar jack. I was charged then about 5 minutes later a young lady lets me me know that the spuds would still take 2 minutes more. 2 minutes no big deal. Then she returns and said she heard wrong and said it would take 13 minutes. She offered a dessert I said sure put something in the bag. I waited and waited. Finally got the order, went home and to my surprise the BLT+A was BLT-A. The sandwich was so small I finished it with a couple minutes. Not worth the price. The spud was rather dry. The customer service here is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! I came in to order some iced teas to-go and the place was dead, so I thought it was going to be in and out situation, but ended up standing at the register for 15 mins waiting for someone to take my order. The employees kept walking past me over and over again!!! Finally the girl comes up with a very disgusting attitude and I complained about the establishment and service but she didn't have a care in the world! I'm more & more disappointed every time I come into this place for food these days. Ever since the change in employees & management, I don't think it's been the same since. Anyways, I went in today w/ friends as a quick bite while my friend was on lunch break. Waited in line for about 10min w/ 2 other people in front of me -- for one, the service is excruciatingly slow than ever. Finally got to ordering & the lady at the register kinda low so it was hard to understand. As we paid & almost sat down, we got our drinks.. they somehow manage to overfill the cup now so putting the lid on was a challenge let alone having tea overflow into the straw hole so it was hard inserting the straw into the cup. We went to go sit down & waited for our food. 2min prior our food coming out, the same lady came to clarify on something but assumed that we got a soup on one of our meals. Our food finally came out & we were just eating it. As I finished half my sandwich, I realized that there was no dressing to go w/ my salad. As I approached the counter to go ask for a to go box as well as dressing to go w/ my salad, I noticed that there was a longer line than when I was in it to order but this time all the registers were filled up.. ok, cool. I stood there for like 10min while the manager lady going back & forth was doing some unnecessary stuff. While I was waiting, a customer came up from behind me & the manager lady acknowledged & helped her before me. Like seriously, I've been waiting for awhile but haven't been helped. On our road trip heading home, we stop here and the whole town was closed. The option we had for restaurants that were opened was only curbside or mobile ordering. We parked outside the restaurant and as we were looking to order online a young lady, walked up to our car and asked if we we were picking up an online order. She was very pleasant and didn't hesitate to assist us, the whole process was super simple and easy. As we were waiting another co-worker made sure we had been helped. This review is for the poor customer service for a web order that was picked up. They were out of Diet Coke (seriously who is ever out of this?). They not only managed to forget the side macaroni and cheese but also a white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie. Basically both my partner's and my meals were ruined. We have been coming here for years and it started at 4 then I took it to 3 now I am taking it to 2 's. They constantly run out of food. Last week it was Spud, how does a Spud place run out of spuds, and man n cheese. Today it was Mac n cheese and Rotel cheese. The women's bathroom is constantly dirty and the floors are getting really bad and they need to clean the partitions that have food all over them. This is a 5 year review. Fairly average for fast-casual dining, can be the ideal spot if you're seeking a decent salad or some warm comfort food. I'm also a big fan of their iced tea! Seating can be hard to come by during weekend lunch and dinner times so definitely dispatch someone from your party to claim a table while you wait to order. read more

I'm not one to write reviews but just like R. Kelly's sheets I'm pissed. Sign said there would be a 30-40 minute wait during peak times- went at 3 no line but order still took 20+ minutes. If it was so slow why didn't anyone pick up the phone when I tried ordering over the phone? There were two people at the to-go counter talking and you couldn't pick up the phone? After we ordered I watched four people standing around the to-go counter while one person was working in the kitchen. With that many people standing around you would think the restaurant would at least be clean. At the entrance there was a table with trash from a previous guest, sad that's what guests see when first walk in. Maybe should have taken that as an omen. Ordered sweet tea- I don't have high expectations as there's better places to get sweet tea- disappointed to basically be drinking tea tinted water. Finally got the order out and headed home. Only one fork was given when I needed two- one for a salad and one for a potato. Ordered the spedmax- didn't come with olives, chives, butter, or sour cream as stated on the menu. They do gluten free sandwiches here, so heads up, they're pretty good. I normally get a spud and they've only been out once before. It's a potato. Can't really go wrong with that. Tastes like a potato with toppings. I tried a gluten free sandwich once and it was really good. It's just a nice, quaint little place to eat at. I ordered and paid for 2 meals online. Drove 7 miles to pick up the food. Arrived to find a sign on the door stating due to staffing issues they were closed. I received an email a few hours later telling me my money would be refunded. No apology for wasting my time and my gas. Texas chain who's outpost here is in the ABQ uptown shopping center. I wanted to know what all the crowds were here for when it opened. Its a deli right? Well more of a deli on steroids in that in addition to serving mediocre sandwiches, they feature huge nachos, stuffed baked potatoes, and pizzas- essentially anything a bland palate would like. Went here 3x ordering different things during shopping to see if the other visits were an aberration. Nope- just poor quality food. Maybe I am in the minority, because others dining here looked like they were enjoying their food. Interesting too from a subliminal standpoint in that they have 2 hd tv screens and rather than air the latest sporting event they show a slideshow/montage of their diners enjoying different items that say" Look a me quashing down this icetea " or " I am enjoying these oversized nachos" There are three sandwich shops that serve much higher quality meats, breads, and sides within a 5 minute drive. I'm not sure what happened here over the past few months this establishment has really gone down hill. The past few times we have went the food has been warm, the serving sizes/menu items have changed, the service has been slow and not unfriendly but just not as good as it use to be. For example we were not offered refills at the table the past three times we ate here. Standing in line for a refill is a hassle. I'm not sure what's up with all of these negative reviews for McAlister's. We've visited McA's approximately four times now and the food has always been good. McA's is right up there with the best deli-styled restaurants in Albuquerque. One thing it's got going for it is it's famous sweet tea, which has a very pleasant and refreshing honey taste to it. The cups they serve it in are huge and the refills are on the house. If you like deli-style restaurants and are in the uptown area, definitely give this place a shot. read more

I am an alumni of the Bulldog Deli in Starkville, MS, the birthplace of McAlister's Deli. The sandwiches are almost as good, but I won't hold anything against them, since becoming a large-regional chain makes it a little difficult to keep everything perfect. THe tea is PERFECT! Service in general is great. May suggest to the Manager - not to stand an one specific table and gab with the guest loudly for 30 minutes (the entire duration while we waited for our meal an subsequently ate our meal). Although Mcalisters is one of my go to lunch spots the ambience has seemed to change. It used to be the spot to get your free tea as a UNM student and get a great lunch. Well UNM students do not get free tea and now it's not the greatest place to eat either. Service is not the same but the food used have been consistent. I did go however the other day and stood in the longest line.. It was dinner time on a Saturday and they had one cashier. When we finally got to the counter to order they did not have the cheese for the nachos or any spuds. I ordered a sandwich, one I always get that's on whole wheat bread. When they brought it out, it was on a white bread that looked toasted. It was so odd, and they said they purchased it from the store. It was probably just super low end cheap bread. I wish they told me it wasn't going to be on the bread they always use. All I can say is that, they really dropped the ball. Food and service looks great, however why have a sign stating you must wear a mask if you don't intend to uphold it. While waiting for a order today a lady who was non compliant by State mandate and restaurant rules sneezes. Not in the crock of her arm as told to do, but a spray of spit around atleast 5 people. My first thought is why is she in here compromising everyone's health when the sign was clear. No mask no service. She did apologize but so what. I'm not sure what took 10 minutes to make seeing how I got soup (pre-made), spud with cheese (which the cheese had already re-solidified), and "Supreme" nahos (which was the crumbs of the bag, not even a full small table soon size container of cheese, and every topping in the small containers. It was the most rediculous thing ever for $9.00). Sadly I have had three bad nachos from three different places that I just gave them back to them and said it wasn't even worth it and to keep them. Granted I also didn't get a receipt so calling to give a transaction number won't happen either. Quality is lacking. It makes sense why there was ACTUALLY only one table occupied in the whole place. I will not order from here again. Just NO way this sad excuse is worth $26 PLUS a tip for a to-go order. Not sure why this place has a low rating- I didn't hate it. I visited on a busy Sunday afternoon to find a slightly disorganized front deli line where I ordered a salad. Taking my number, I waited about 10 minutes at a table for my meal to be delivered. In front of me was a heaping portion of a chicken salad. The sandwiches are over priced, the service is super slow, and their "famous" ice tea is mediocre. My sandwich today had metal flakes on it. Not sure how the multiple pieces of foil (up to 1/2 inch long and very visible) became embedded into my sandwich, but I certainly didn't want to eat the damn thing after the discovery. A regular deli--nothing special, nothing too bad in my experiences. Serves it purpose of getting lunch food though: 1) Like previous yelpers mentioned, you wait FOREVER for your damn food. OMG, its sandwiches and salads...and by the time you get it, it looks and tastes like something that could have be done in 5 min instead. 2) Crowded--not sure why, prob convenience of location, so even though there seems like a lot of places to sit, we had to scramble to get a table outside that wasn't even bussed after 10 min- gross. 3) Got the smoked pepper jack panini--yes, not hot at all. I was wishing I went to Starbucks instead and got their crappy sandwiches, cuz it would be at least warm. Over it fast---after a few more chances here, I usually end up heading to Trader Joe's up the way and getting a salad and fruit there. More worth your buck. read more

I wanted to just write a review, but then I saw the 3star average...WTH? Either McAlister's has really stepped up their game, or I just got the random "celebrity" treatment, I don't know which. I'll put what I do know in bullet points for your easy perusing. -Food is good....like 4star good, maybe close to 4.5star good. -Food takes less than 15min to arrive (our order, at 12:15, was tableside in 10min). -Sweet tea is just ridiculously good and comes with unlimited refills, in a huge cup. -Prices are strip mall pricing, not Uptown pricing. We paid $13 for a "Whole" Muffuletta, which could easily feed 4ppl (I was stuffed, she was stuffed, and we had a 1/4 of the sandwich leftover). That's damn cheap! -Ambiance is nice, clean, and service is tops, from order to table delivery. to address some of the below complaints, it's just as good as Relish and takes 1/4 the time (even the order line moves fast!), far less expensive, they pile the meat on (i've ate here 3 times now, so it's not a one-off), they're not advertising as New Mexican so why would you order green chile stew, and finally, I'm sorry but a couple pieces of the sandwich wrap tearing off on the edge of your sandwich does NOT constitute "metal flakes in my sandwhich," we're not that high maintenance here in the 505. so, go, eat, drink (tea), and be merry, and hopefully you have as much parking luck as I do (scored front row all three times, the sandwich gods must smile upon thee) read more
