I love McAllister's food and I travel all over the country and I always order online pickup abut I never had anyone who asked me for my id before except this little kid who was clearly profiled me! The worst part is when I was so upset and called to talk to manager her name is Valerie she told me to call back again the next day because I was so loud over the phone smh even tho I tried to explain to her what happened she hanged up the phone on me. I called back again she picked up the phone refused to give me the employees name she was very defensive and clearly didn't care about the way I felt. Will never come back to this place again! B O M B salad! I got the Taco Salad and it was EVERYTHING for me in terms of the flavor department and my belly's satisfaction! For only $6.99 and the amount of food they give you makes the taco salad a steal in being a bang for your buck! The foundation of the salad is lettuce then topped with their chili, taco meat, cheese, jalapenos, cheese, guac, sour cream, salsa and tortilla chips that line the plate! It was a huge plate and huge portions of the ingredients! Definitely shareable for a party of two, but being the foodie that I am...I finished it all to myself haha. My boyfriend got the pepper jack turkey sandwich with Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was a side...which speaking of sides, they have a ton of options! I want to try all of them. His sandwich was toasted to perfection. I don't know what kind of bread they used, but it was fantastic! And now the best part...THE SWEET GREEN PEACH TEA! Addicted to this delicious concoction of a drink. It was only about two bucks that gives you a huge cup and unlimited refills! Mateo was our cashier and he also served our food! He was fantastic! He knows his way around the menu and attentive to our drinks when we would need refills! I will definitely come back and check out more food! The meat on the sandwich was just okay, but the potato salad and mango green tea were both delicious. The service was friendly, and attentive. To go orders are never ready. The past 4 times I have placed a to go order they tell me a certain time to be there. I arrive and the on the go pick up station is empty. I go to the counter and remind them of my order. I end up waiting another 15-20 minutes. What's the point of ordering ahead of time if they aren't going to start the food until I arrive. I end up wasting my whole lunch break. The worst part is they are not even busy at those times, the associates are walking around joking and playing on their cellphones. If they were busy it wouldn't be as big of an issue. read more

The new Yorker with cranberry sauce, sauerkraut, and brown mustard might be a perfect sandwich! Me and my wife go to McAlister's monthly, and I must say, I've grown fond of this little gem. The service is sparky, the sweet tea is spectacular - when they want it to be - and the food is always great! My wife religiously gets the southwest cobb salad when we share a pick 2 for like $9. Their app always gives free tea incentives or whatnot, so definitely sign up for that. The Spuds are fluffy and baked perfectly, especially the Black Angus. Honestly, one of my favorite quick places to eat. Oh, and if you're really hankering for a dessert, their carrot cake is 14 layers of unbelievable. I don't believe they make it - they have it shipped in. I swear, probably the best carrot cake I've ever had. Their cheesecake and cookies are great too! A recommendation on the drink - do sweet tea with 20 percent strawberry lemonade, trust me. The regular lemonade works great, but there's something about the strawberry that makes it sing. The guys call it a "Tigerwoods." I don't think I've ever had anything bad here. I've had bad experiences at the store in Independence and Belton, but never at the Shawnee or Lee Summit locations. The staff here especially is the epitome of hospitable. Just, top notch. If you're looking for a good lunch spot, you cannot falter at McAlister's Shawnee. Tip though, in the hot summer evenings, bring a coat: Their AC is conditioned for a packed house all day, but when people thin out in the dining area as the hours wane, it's akin to a meat locker in there. read more

Today I went back for a 3rd time because unless a place is absolutely terrible I'll give them 3 strikes before they're out.. I ordered the Peppers, Onions, and Beef sandwich off of the 'Secret Menu'. It tasted pretty good, in fact I would have given this updated review 4 stars if they had remembered to give me the au jus that was supposed to have come with it. It was just good enough without the au jus that I may come back again but it still drives me nuts when important details are missed by restaurants. Maybe this is just one of those places where I'm the unlucky guy because it looks like about half the people have really good experiences here. Wasn't trying to be rude or hard on you all in my first review and should've given more specific details on what I ordered, why I didn't like it, etc but I don't remember those details at this point. Great food poor service. I order online hoping to be able to pick up when I arrive at the store. My food was placed in the wrong spot, they didn't give me my drink which I paid for. Online ordering is supposed to be easy and it is but not when the location is disoriented. I ordered mccallisters club and it's always a hit or miss... sometimes too much dressing, other times dry sandwich. I don't like that they changed the chips from lays brands to kettle cooked, the food doesn't taste the same. The only thing I can count on is their tea always being on point. I have eaten at a few McAlisters elsewhere. Recall my first visit was a little disappointing but proceeding visits have been much better. Can't recall what I have ordered before but today was the spicy southwest chicken sandwich. It humors me as to what the restaurant business considers spicy. This is not spicy. Sandwich with my side of fruit came out timely. I got my huge famous sweet tea immediately after ordering at the counter. They brag about their sweet tea & have reasons to. Good amount of sweetness - even though my husband would disagree. My sandwich was very hot upon its arrival brought to my table by a smiling & friendly food runner. Good portion of chicken but with it was more like a panini with the crunch. It needs some texture - too soft for my liking. It had a decent taste but needed some sliced avocado on it. Fruit consisted of pineapple, red grapes, honey dew melon, & cantaloupe. Oh and I got a dill pickle slice! Can't go wrong with pickles as a side treat! The line to wait in to order can make u feel a little pressured to really look at the menu if you arrive prior to a rush. As such this Sunday lunch hour. This is a good dining option - lots of choices for everyone and can be served quickly. If a location was a little closer to me then I would probably visit more frequently. read more

Be cautious if you order online for pickup. Make sure before you leave with your order you have double checked to be sure all items are included. As I write this my husband had to go back to pickup items missing from the order. This happens almost every time we pick up an order. When we have to again tell them we're missing items it is blown off by a fake, I'm sorry, while our dinner is getting cold because of carelessness. Management at the Shawnee, KS location does not care about the customers. It's too bad, because the food is good. We won't be back. read more

This place is alright! My friend said this place served some tasty sandwiches, so I decided to come in during my lunch break! I ordered the Chicken Club and I wasn't disappointed! I do love a good sandwich! And I have had McAlister's in the past and loved it. I mean they have huge glasses of sweet tea. The sweet tea was still good, not overly sweet or fake tasting. I don't know how, and this might sound not important but their cups are crazy, cause they don't sweat at all (the little things make me happy)! I also got the chicken salad croissant, which I was a little disappointed with. There was a lot of the sauce and not a lot of chicken. I've definitely had better! The sandwich came with chips and pickle. I added a cookie, which I really enjoyed. I would definitely go back here, I might just get something different! read more

Quite some time ago I started checking every take out order right in front of them and that didn't help they still forgot one thing or another. Customers should not ever have to check an order. Don't let looks fool ya, folks. This place serves great food at great service speeds, and it's a sandwich restaurant you simply can't go wrong with--whether you're in to-go or in to dine-in. McAlister's is essentially the KC version of a hybrid between Jason's Deli and Panera Bread. It's got a similar feel to it and pretty much the same menu offerings as the other two: soups, salads, sandwiches, some sandwich spin-offs, and sides. You can call in an order, order to go, or order to dine-in. I came here during the 12:30pm primetime lunch power-hour and it was quite busy. I was in a hurry--needed something quick to-go so I could swallow the sandwich on my way back to the office and make my 1pm meeting on time--and the line, quite honestly, scared me, and by the time I realized it, it was too late. I began thinking of the earful I'd give the manager here and the excuses I'd use as to why I needed my sandwich NOW. But that simply wasn't the case. Much to my surprise, my food was ready within 5-7 minutes of ordering, and I was able to make it back to the meeting on time with a fully satisfied stomach. I ordered the Memphian sandwich off their "larger" sandwich menu (they called it something a bit more flashy), and boy o' boy, was this thing good. It's not a healthy sandwich by any means, but buns were crisply toasted and you can tell they put in A LOT of work to get the ingredients inside the sandwich right. Most places will just slap on some meat and veggies, dump it in the toaster, and call it a day. But whatever the guys behind the counter do, it ISN'T that. For a shade over $8, you really get your money's worth in deliciousness here. The sandwich size was just right--probably 7-8 inches or so--for most to be plenty full after consumption. I've also had McAlister's catered to my workplace and while it isn't nearly as good as buying sandwiches directly from their location, you certainly can't go wrong if you're in dire need to feed the masses. They still make excellent sandwiches for the quantity they're asked to produce, so if you're looking to host an event and need something easy for food for lots of people, yo have my word that McAlister's will do you no wrong there. All in all, great overall experience at McAlister's. This place definitely deserves a spot in the high ranks of sandwich "chains" and is a great alternative to the usual competition (Potbelly, Panera, etc.). It delivers big time on the delicious front. We ate it because he paid for it. He had the Reuben with coleslaw. The meat was okay, sauerkraut was extremely salty, dripping with thousand island. Coleslaw was watery and tasteless. I had the BLT+A, mac and cheese. Not impressed. First time I ever ate bacon that didn't taste like bacon, way too much lettuce?...not lettuce that belongs on a BLT and skinny little pieces of avocado. Mac and cheese comes from a box. Customer after customer came in after us and all received their orders before ours. We didn't order anything complicated. Just a Cesar salad wrap and a chicken croissant sandwich with Mac and cheese (I definitely prefer chic-fil-a's Mac). Staff has been really nice & wait time for food always less than 10min, even when they are busy. They keep the dining area clean & tables cleared quickly. I absolutely love their regular tea, my favorite of any place in the area. Although, many love the sweet tea instead. The chicken salad on croissant is fantastic & so is their potato salad. Pretty fair variety on the menu & spud meals can make for a good option on a cold day. I've never been disappointed by McAlister's food. It can be a little tricky getting in/out of the parking lot when the place is busy, that's about the biggest downfall. read more

Not a busy time, so you think they would have gotten the order right. But...nope! The hubby got a french dip, they forgot the ajus. I went in for a couple of Cornbeef sandwiches. Of course I have to have my sandwiches special orders because we are picky. Joe who waited on me was very patient and so nice with all of my special ordering. I ended up with 2 sandwiches, 2 sides of coleslaw, 2 baked potatoes with everything on the side, 2 pieces of cheesecake and a large unsweetened ice tea. Oh did I mention that this was a to go order. When I got home I was very surprised to see that not only was my order done the way I asked then to prepare it but the food was fantastic. Having eaten at McAlister's in other locations I was very excited that one was opening not too far from my house. I tried it out this afternoon and was very disappointed. First, the parking is inadequate around the lunch hour rush. That alone would not have Impacted my overall review. It's newly opened, has a good reputation and its lunch hour, I get it. But the parking lot is tiny and the layout is even worse. It's not only hard to find a spot but if you go down the wrong aisle and it's full then you are reversing out. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken sandwich to go. It was underwhelming. A lot of burnt bread with very little chicken. I took a bite and tossed the rest. The salad was ok, which is why I will give the extra star to make it a solid 2. But being a deli, I would have expected a lot more out of the sandwich. There are a lot of sandwich shops around, I will probably hit up Firehouse Subs across the street next time. read more

Okay, I usually don't review chains, but I've always been pleased with McAlister's offerings, and just had to let folks know. My husband and I stopped in after a matinee this week and had a late lunch; it was delicious! He had the Black Angus Club sandwich, and I had a 1/2 Harvest Chicken Salad sandwich and a 1/2 Savannah salad on the "you choose 2" menu. All the flavors were extremely fresh, and blended together in a completely delectable fashion. The portions were perfect and the prices appropriate. The staff was friendly and helpful; we felt quite welcomed. The restaurant was clean, airy, and well-lit, with plenty of good seating. There were only negative points: there was a faint smell of mold near the sink drains behind the counter, which concerns me regarding the building's plumbing. And the restrooms were separated into "Women" and "Men" and each was single-use, which led to a line outside the women's room while the men's stood idle. I recommend considering unisex bathrooms to alleviate lines. I know it's a chain, but I'll always stop in at McAlister's when I'm in the mood for a sandwich and salad. They're fabulous! read more

Worst service ever! I ordered through their app for delivery (door dash). The food that I received an hour later had my receipt stapled to it but was someone else's food. I asked for the order to be corrected and delivered to the hotel we were staying at. After being on the phone with the manager for 15 minutes she said I had to reorder through the App again (she couldn't process it) and then they would refund me and I'd get our food. When I hung up I tried to reorder, however it was then 9:32PM and it wouldn't let me submit the order. I called back to the restaurant and the manager was of course "gone" and I was told the system shuts down at 9:30 and now it's too late to reorder. Still waiting on a refund from 2 days ago.... read more
