My boyfriend enjoys this place for breakfast, so he took me there for the first time. The staff is nice, and he enjoyed his food. However, I was not pleased. I ordered a Hawaiian burger specifically for the pineapple on it, and it came out with none. When I asked, they said they were out of it and did nothing to compensate for it. Burger was still decent, but just a bit disappointing since I would've chose something else to order, and paid full for something I didn't want. We've been coming here for years, and we've always loved it until this weekend. I ordered French toast for breakfast and while I was eating it, I noticed a screw on my plate under one of the pieces of toast. A SCREW! I flagged down the waiter and sent it back immediately. When I told him there was a screw in my food, he didn't say a word. And when he brought our check, I expected the French toast to be removed from the bill. But it was on our bill - they didn't comp it, or anything! I'm absolutely disappointed by our experience at McCraes this weekend. Like I said, we've been coming here for years and it has always been great. But this was just terrible customer service and terrible business practice. I don't think we'll ever be coming back. (But in the meantime, get someone in your restaurant to make sure all your screws are in tact in your kitchen so no more people have screws in their food! Pleasantly surprised at the warm hospitality of the staff. The servers had it down part and cleared/set the table in a blink of an eye. Our server gave us time to look over the menu which had breakfast, burgers, and dinner meals. My daughter loved the burger and fries. I had 3 fried eggs with ham. Went in on a busy day hostess told us to go on in and pick a table after a maybe 5-10 minute wait,as we were sitting we were told very rudely by one of waiters we could not sit there and directed us to another table,after we we explained we were told it was ok he still insisted,as we were walking to other table a different waitress told us we could go and sit there but they were going to split up the tables,we declined and stayed at original table ,we were brought our waters rt away .a few minutes later she came back to take our drink orders,and then asked if we were going to be a problem for her because she didn't deserve to be treated poorly after how she and her coworker had acted towards us,after that my wife and i were already been offended enough and decided to leave,and asked for managements# as we were asking at front counter same waitress came up to us and said yes we can have her mothers card,at that point i said i don't care who your mother is doesn't give you a right to be a b$&@$ very offensive behavior from those 2 employees read more

I was hopeful for a nice dining experience, but hope in one hand and.... well, you know what to do in the other hand. The food looked and tasted great. If only my breakfast wasn't half eaten by the time my waiter had to be reminded of the sour cream and salsa that he said he'd be right back with upon serving up the food. Went here for lunch but had breakfast. It was about 1pm and was greeted by a nice lady, I ordered an omelet with ham,bacon,onions and peppers with country gravy all over it lol. It was pretty darn good and a big portion even tho I impressively ate it all lol. The large soda is in a quart mason jar and free refills. I asked Google for the best breakfast in town and this came up so I went there on a Sunday at 6:15am. Service was top notch, two women were working and they were both very, very nice. The food was awesome. Everything tasted freshly prepared. I had a haystack, which is biscuits topped with scrambled eggs, a sausage patty and gravy. I opted for hashbrowns and a pancake because I was hungry. Well, that was plenty enough for two people! The gravy was very good. The pancake was not your typical cake, a bit more fluffy and it actually had flavor, as opposed to just flour. Not sure what was in it but I would eat that by itself. This place has the best bacon i've ever had. It's thick, juicy, and is cooked almost perfectly. However, a few weeks ago, I ordered to-go and see that they put their food in a SAFEWAY bag without thinking about giving me any forks or spoons to eat the food I bought, nor gave any napkins. I figured that they were just having a long, tired day, so I let it go. Today, however, they forgot to put forks and napkins again and I felt a little off while eating my bacon as it tasted different. I kept eating it anyway but suddenly, I see a short, blonde hair stuck to the bacon. I have to ask, do the workers in the kitchen wear hair nets? If not, please do so. Wait time for food is literally less then 25 minutes, I was just amazed! and employees were so Nice, they even care for their costumers because they check on their costumers all the time with offers of more coffee, water, etc. portions are gigantic and gets really packed in the mornings that you may have to wait awhile but it's all worth it because the breakfast was out of this world! Each portion is enough for at least 2 people unless you are just THAT hungry. I've been here a couple times and the food is always mediocre at best. Large portions of low quality food. So bland that I had to put ketchup on my eggs - something I never do. Wheat toast was very sad, and the Smucker's strawberry jam packets were no consolation. The hash browns were delivered as an unevenly cooked pile of goo so boring that I had no choice but to quickly devour them and ignore their poor quality. Finally after eating the scrambled eggs and trash browns, I moved on to the chicken fried steak, a sad pancake of beef wrapped in cornflakes and drowned in gravy. But this was no steak, dear friends, but a thin and over-cooked pile of meat fibers pressed together like plywood. I'm not sure what I ate, but it was not the steak I had imagined. I am amazed that so many "Elite" Yelpers are leaving positive reviews. This place offers a breakfast that should offend any decent society. I will not be back without serious changes to their ingredients or pricing. If you serve trash, at least give me a discount. This was our fist trip to McCrae's in a while and we were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately the quality of the food has really gone down since our last visit. The service is just as friendly as ever, but nobody in our party of four were satisfied with their order. There were two orders of french toast, both of which the bread was over egged which made the texture odd. The bacon was over done, even for those that like crispy bacon. A Belgian waffle was also ordered an it almost needed a steak knife to be cut. Finally, I ordered the 1/2 order chicken fried steak with hashbrowns and scrambled eggs. The eggs looked rubbery and upon first bite matched my observation. It was like chewing on deflated balloon. I then moved to the hashbrowns. They looked great, but once I put my fork in to them, It was as if there was an exterior crispy wrapping looking like hashbrowns that covered an interior of mashed potatoes. I don't know how they did it. Finally the steak. It was over cooked and the breading was chunky and strange. It appeared as if an attempt to cover it was made by pouring an outrageous amount of gravy over it. I ended up sending it back and I just had some toast with a sausage patty. The sausage patty was HUGE, probably enough for two people. I have really enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but I think we will have to wait until conditions improve. read more

My girlfriend and I have been to this location a number of times. It's a spacious building with two different seating areas. Each time we arrive, we are promptly seated and offered large jugs of ice water. My breakfast of choice is always the chicken fried steak. It's huge, comes with eggs, toast, and hash browns, and the gravy is thick, but delicious. Service is always good here, the food is always good here, and the quantity is great. I suppose one could be a hipster snob and dislike everything because it's not organic and can't be traced back to the farm of origin, but that's your own call. The biscuits are soft and the gravy was good I don't think either one of those are homemade but they were still good which is all that matters in my book! If you love big portions, then this is your place. As far as taste, it's just meh. Nothing special, tastes homemade, but I'd rather make this at home than spend money here. It's good food when you're hungry, but you don't crave it. I got the special of the day of a ham, cheese, mushroom omelette with hollandaise sauce and hash browns. And I love gravy saucy stuff like the next person, but my omelette was disgustingly drowning in hollandaise. Total overkill. I would equate this place to a Denny's, Sharis or IHOP.
