Food was adequate for what I've come to expect from McDonald's, but I don't usually go to McDonald's. That being said, not being a huge fan of McDonald's, this review isn't going to involve any food bias. Basically, it's the restrooms in this establishment that bother me. And if the restrooms aren't good, there's no point in eating there. Mostly it's the design problems. Sure it's small but I'm not going to fault them for that but if it's going to be small there needs to be a few things to help with that. My biggest problem is this, the doors open inwards and have handles you have to grab and pull in order to open them. This would be found if you didn't have to touch them. You see most places with larger bathrooms either have no doors, with an 'S' shaped entry; or doors that 'push' outwards so you could use your elbow, foot, shoulder, or whatever else you could use to avoid touching it with your hands. The problem with the doors at this establishment is that there is nothing there to accommodate you when attempting to open the doors without touching them with your hands. A paper towel would be fine, after you've used it or course, but they have blowers instead. In fact,they have two blowers. Two blowers, one sink, and one urinal. [There is a wheelchair access stall, but I didn't use that] If you haven't guessed already, I'm a guy. On my one and only trip to this particular McDonald's, I used the bathroom twice: once to wash my hands before my meal, and another to wash my hands after my meal. On both visits to the restroom I witnessed two customers using the urinal and walking out without washing their hands. That means they touched their business and then touched the handle to the door on the way our of the restroom, not to mention anything else they might have touched in the establishment after the fact. Like I said, I'd normally just use a paper towel to avoid touching the Russian roulette or funkiness that is the door's handle but I had to use my shirttails as such. About the urinal, though. It's too dang short! It's like one of those ones they put in for little boys! There's enough room for another, for sure, so it's like they ran out of money to put in the normal one and left a big blank spot on the wall. Oh, not to mention the awkward privacy! Someone walks in while you're pissin': "Oh, howdy! Meet my little friend, here!" Some one comes out of the stall: "Oh, hey, how's it hanging!" Oh and I did say the thing was too low, so it's splash city up in there! Unless you're squatting down, then you get some extra awkwardness with the other dudes walking in. Bottom line, "wash your hands" signs do NOTHING. Get a paper towel dispenser and place a trash receptacle close to the door so you don't have used paper towels all over the floor. Men who don't wash their hands after doing their business, never will, and there is nothing you can do to change that; only give those who DO the tools to avoid those that don't. read more

Avoid this place if you like consistency and decent service. I work across the street and like to grab coffee on my way into work. Not only is the food and drink inconsistent but the customer service (Kiana) absolutely terrible. Every encounter has been horrible. She has a crummy attitude and really needs to learn some people skills. Customers come to McDonald's for a quick bite or drink and not for drama and little girl attitudes. Store was really clean. Usually when I visit this McDonalds , it's pretty messy and seems as if the management didn't know how to manage. But recently I've gone in and have seen many new faces working there and I must say that they are EXTREMELY friendly! There was a gentleman at the front counter named Grant that was really really polite . Also, there was a manager named chas I beleive ? He was really polite an professional as well. I like this McDonalds. It has jazz music (old jazz, classic jazz) and jazz legends motif all over the place. Everytime I have passed by Pismo I stop here for a break. I dropped by today 2/22/17 at 1:52pm to try the new Mac Jr. It wasn't bad! Nice to get the Big Mac flavor in a smaller package. The redesigned dining area is cute and clean, but I doubt as efficient as the old design. There was a guy installing a kiosk for self ordering--no doubt a response to all the crying for a $15 minimum wage. The other reason a self ordering kiosk is good is to reduce contact with rude staff who act as if they don't like working at McDonald's. My order was taken by the "Shift Supervisor" (at least I think that is what her name tag said--the receipt says "TAG ID 4"). She offered no smile or greeting when I stepped up. She mostly whispered in heavily accented English. She didn't count the change back just dropped it into my hand. When she put the drink cup on the counter she put it on the opposite side of the cash register from where I was standing and behind a gift card display--I couldn't even see the cup and had to walk over and look behind the display to get it. I remember when Ray Croc first started franchising McDonald's. The kids working there were happy and smiling. It was a fun experience. Now the staff is more often than not surly and/or disinterested. Stopped here on the way home from the beach. They forgot about our caramel frappes several times after being reminded again and again. They also took over 20 minutes for two sandwiches and got food out to people who came AFTER us with a bigger order. My friend ordered a small iced caramel macchiato and they still haven't made it after each of us said something about it. Very unorganized and they have terrible service. read more

We got 2 coffees one was made wrong 3 rimes. I asked for it iced and they served it hot then the second time served it with no ice and there was some powdery substance in it. DISGUSTING. Place is a joke. God forbid they ever get an order right. Don't come here much, but have had enough simple coffee orders messed up that we don't come here anymore. Top it off with poor management and a bunch of people who are just there to do the bare minimum for a paycheck. On thursday afternoon (5 pm) we went to this location. A man ahead of us in line was upset because he was waiting for his order, and he wanted to catch a bus. While he was waiting and very upset, 3 people ordered and got their food. While we ordered, he was complaining and saying "where's my food?" The girl at the register looked at us and laughed and rolled her eyes. She waited on us and we got our food. The bus he was waiting for came and left. He was very upset. He finally got his food but had to wait for the next bus. We sat and wondered what he ordered that could take so long? This is probably my least favorite burger restaurant in America. An employee of the restaurant was quite lazy, instead of going out of their way to complete your order they will cut it short. For example, one day as my family and I went through the drive-through, we had ordered two chocolate fudge sundaes. Five minutes later, I went back into the restaurant and ordered a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. The cashier had told me that they were out of chocolate for a for my chocolate-dipped ice cream cone. I thought this was nonsense because five minutes ago we had ordered two chocolate fudge sundaes. This is my example of how the employee was lazy and did not want to dip my ice cream cone in the chocolate. I knew there was chocolate back there but this employee had thought, "I don't I think I will work my best today, I'll just be lazy. I'll only do the bare minimum of work. I'll only give them a swirl cone of ice cream but I won't walk an extra 5 feet to dip it in chocolate and return it to the consumer. I was really disappointed with McDonald's services that day. I write this review to warn any of you to order your chocolate dipped ice cream cone along with the Sundaes so they cannot use the excuse that they ran out of chocolate. read more

This McDonalds is very close to my home and is often a quick stop for breakfast on the way to work. The two things that are a CONSTANT are lukewarm food and getting the wrong items in the drive thru. IF one is lucky enough to notice before you hit the freeway, and have the time to go back and get what you paid for, they could care less about your inconvenience. They will exchange the incorrect item for the correct (lukewarm) item and never apologize or offer something for your time and trouble. *** Update 10/25/14 to my review from a while ago. This McDonalds is going downhill fast. Twice now, I've seen solicitors enter the restaurant and just walk around trying to sell stuff. Today was a lady going around selling berries. It was unbelievable. The type of people who you see selling fruit on the highways. So that was weird. Second, THIS McDonalds now started to go cheap on ketchup. Its not a big deal, but now this is a thing on the central coast I feel. I started going to this McDonalds because of the horrible service and workers at the McD's in SLO. Now this place is slipping up. I ordered fries with my meal. I asked for ketchup and she gave me 2 packets. I said, "excuse me? Can I have more ketchup?" I ordered this for $5 (large fries?) and they think you want two packets of ketchup. She asked me how many I wanted. I can't say how much this question ticks me off. Are we supposed to calculate a formula for how many fries-to-ketchup packets we need? Back in the day, they would just give you a generous handful and if you had extra you would leave it on the table or take them with you. Last I checked, Central coast has a water shortage problem, not a ketchup one. ********* I drive to this McDonalds from San Luis Obispo because it's the polar opposite of the one in San Luis. This McD's is 1) clean, 2) staff is friendly, and 3) they are FAST! The people who work here don't talk crap behind your back like the ones in SLO. And even though they are Hispanic they don't have obnoxiously loud conversations in Spanish like the one in SLO. The only thing I don't like is that they are stingy with their ketchup. Seriously, I have no idea what happened to the tomato production of the world but they ask you how many packets of ketchup you would like. "A handful" is too much. 4-5 packets is what they will give you for large fries. I get the expensive sauces are limited but ketchup? I remember when they used to have ketchup dispensers (and I'm 21- not even that old). The booth tables are great. Range from 4-person capacity to 10-person capacity. I've seriously never seen booths that long at a McDonalds. Must be for the many tourist groups and large families I see come in. Great place, 24hr drive thru, clean, everything it should be. read more
