I had seared tuna and my husband had the red snapper with the seafood cream sauce. The staff is very friendly and our food came out quickly. Had a great time at this down home seafood restaurant. View over the water and gulf is very pretty and soothing. Decorations are very elementary, low cost and plain however. They are in desperate need of professional decorations. My waitress was Jennifer, a bubbly pleasant young lady, was attentive and friendly. Meeting her was worth the going. The potato salad seemed to be made from scratch, bold and tasty. The grilled shrimp with tail on were a good size and flavorful. The mash potatoes with gravy were ho hum. Overall a good value and nice very service. While this is obviously as place many tourist go to, being born and raised in Louisiana, I know good seafood when I eat it. The shrimp were fresh and tasty. The shrimp fleet was literately docked next door to the restaurant. While the original McElroy's Harbor House is long gone with Katrina ... the new restaurant tries hard to match the original ambiance, service, and unique recipes. For those who remember the original, the new version is a bit newer and shinier ... which for those of us used to the original nautical kitch ... is a bit of a let down (first time I've ever said something like that!). Still the food is good, the breakfast menu still satifies, and the Gumbo and Shrimp cocktail are still reigning supreme ... all is right in God's good heaven. If you're looking for fantastic decor, look elsewhere. That's the only issue I could come up with. This Cajun enjoyed the gumbo, which is something I never really order in a restaurant (which anyone that "gets it" will understand.) Sounded good at the time and I was happy I did. Me and my wife came to this place yesterday for my birthday. Saw it as I was getting off the freeway and decided hey let's give it a try. Upon arriving we were greeted politely and seated quickly to our desired location which was on the patio. We then proceeded to order out food. About 40-45 mins until our food arrived.. which I can understand being that it was a weekend day and I'd assume a lot of orders were coming in all at once. But once out food finally did arrive it was cold. And when I say cold I mean cold. Our side orders that we'd ordered were unavailable so they instead gave us French fries. We literally took 2-3 bites maybe and asked for our check. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and at times uneasy. Went there for the first time for Breakfast. Had been there for dinner before. But never for breakfast, and I am glad I went, can't wait to go back. I had the Shrimp and Grits and my whole table got the Beignets. The Shrimp and Grits were so good, they were creamy with a little spicy hint to it because it has this great creole spice to it. Visited on Mothers day so I knew there would be a wait. Although there was a lot of people in line the wait was not bad. Our server was very nice and was always refilling our coffee. The food was good but the beignets were a bit greasy and need to sit for a bit longer before adding powdered sugar. There are a few local beers on draft so make sure to try them. read more

The shrimp were small and blackened and tasty. The steak was average quality and cooked OK at medium. Maybe better priced at $25. The trout was broiled nicely but a little tough. The slaw was nice. But the baked potato was served with the sour cream in a squeeze tube. No 4 or 5 star place would do that even if they used the same cream but squeezed it out of our sight. The service at McElroy's is almost as great as their food! Their raw oysters are excellent! Their daily lunch specials are a bargain, and delicious! Lunch specials include a beverage, and there are usually 2 specials each day. The view is outstanding, looking out at Deer Island. There are tables outside too! People staying at nearby casinos only have a short stroll to the restaurant for some of the best food on Mississippi's Gulf Coast. read more

This place is terrible. It smelled like an airport, the interior was plain at best, and the service was mediocre. The view is the best part, but everything tasted like it came from a can. How they can serve crab cakes like that and charge $24 for a seafood platter is beyond me. Not worth it by any means. Should have gotten a shrimp poboy instead. They forgot one of our sides, which is crazy, because the one platter we were splitting was $24. The gumbo was flavorless and a small cup was $7. It was embarassing. We were told to come here for $7 dozen oysters. The raw oysters were good but the $10 upgrade for the chargrilled was poor. They tasted like crappy potato skins. The staff were all really friendly especially the bartender Dave who may have been the nicest guy alive. Glad to see this place make a comeback after Katrina. Seared Yellowfin Tuna is prepared exactly right. Crab claws and deep fried Shrimp were excellent as well. Oh and they were smaller than my thumbnail and very clearly straight from a freezer bag. 3 other people in our party ordered the same thing and had the same complaints. We can't come to Biloxi without breakfast at McElroy's. Good home cooking, delicious pancakes. Looking forward to going back again.

My only complaint is that. none of the employees wore mask. We stayed but it made me very uncomfortable.
