I had such high hopes for this place after hearing great things from new neighbors. Unfortunately I had a horrible experience with them. I ordered cupcakes for my daughter's class birthday celebration a week in advance. It was critical that the order be correct and on time as, at the time, I worked in Smyrna and lived in Snellville. When I called prior to picking up the cupcakes I confirmed my order once more. When I arrived my order was incorrect; literally the opposite of what I requested. When I brought it to the attention of the employee they called a the lady in charge who offered me no apology and FROZEN cupcakes in place of my botched order. I declined and was charged full price for the wrong cupcakes. This level of "customer service" is subpar at best. You don't mess up and then literally make your customer "eat" your error. They were closing so properly making a fresh batch was out of the question. If I wanted frozen cake I could have make them myself from a box. I've not moved to Smyrna and I will never patronize this place. I have 2 stars because my daughter liked the cupcakes...but she's 6 so... read more

McEntyre's rocks my socks off. I learned about it when my former boss started bringing donuts from here into the office each week (yeah, that's not going to help me get into an awesome wedding dress). After tasting their amazing blueberry donut (and the red velvet cake donut...and uh....yeah, a 3rd one), I decided to explore further. My fiance and I were looking for a cake vendor, so we scheduled one with McEntyre's. One of the co-owners, Ryan, did our consultation. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and laid-back. We tried a variety of cake, filling, and icing flavors. Each sample was simply amazing. At the end, Ryan asked if we wanted a few samples to take home with us. We said sure, thinking we'd get a couple of items. Yeah...he sent us home with a DOZEN free cupcakes (again, not helping with the whole getting into a wedding dress thing!). We ended up going with McEntyre's for our wedding cake; in addition to tasting amazing, they had the most reasonable prices without sacrificing quality. Since then, I've picked up things whenever I'm in the area to take home. In addition to cupcakes, they have whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, chocolate covered oreos, strawberries, nutter butters, there are loaves of pumpkin bread and apple bread...everything I've tried is simply exquisite compared to any other bakery I've ever been to. I'm glad I live in Woodstock, because I'd have a serious weight issue if we lived closer to this place! In response to someone who balked at not taking credit cards for purchases less than $5: that's actually pretty common with really small businesses. The vendor fees that credit card companies charge are ridiculous, and it doesn't make sense to pay a $3 Visa/MC/etc fee for a $1.69 cupcake. Not hating, and I get it's 2012, but the frustration really should go to the credit card companies. read more

Wonderful sandwiches, delightful cupcakes (ghosts, pumpkins and monsters, OH MY!) and beautiful cakes. This place is a real treasure in Smyrna. My office has been ordering cakes from this bakery FOREVER but I finally went to check it out for myself last week when I received a coupon for two small croissants filled with chicken salad and a large bowl of soup for $2! How can you beat that price for an amazing, fresh lunch when gas is over $4/gallon!??! You can't! However, I couldn't just spend $2 when I went there because the dessert case was so enticing. The lemon bar was very good and the cupcakes were fantastic. I definitely recommend checking out their website for weekly internet specials. Selection was good. Pasteries were not as fresh as I expected. The rolls I bought molded the same day and of course the shop is closed til Tuesday. Another issue was one of the female employees being hateful to another young male employee. My family loves this place! It offers great, inexpensive, locally made baked goods. I can't vouch for cakes or pies, but we always get a mix of pastries and other yummies and Some favorites: the cinnamon swirls ($1.25!) and red velvet doughnuts. Wow -- who knew a cake I only moderately like could be made into an awesome doughnut? We've also had great cherry danishes and Boston Cream doughnuts. I've always had great service here -- very attentive, fast, and helpful. With a little one in tow, this is always a big plus. I do wish they had more seating. It can be a little dicey on weekends to find a seat. The only downside? The lunch! I was dismayed to order the signature chicken salad and not have it made fresh for us. Rather, the sandwiches are pre-made and boxed and when you order, out of the refrigerated case they come. As a bakery, I would expect some freshly sliced bread and assembled sandwiches, not something akin to what I can get out of the cooler at Quik Trip. read more

I called in an order and I still need to wait in line on my lunch break behind everyone ordering to pay. This is not efficient for a quick lunch break. From my experience with McEntyre's, they're simply okay, but nothing special. My first trip in was for red velvet cupcakes for my wife's birthday. I love red velvet, and these just didn't do it for me. I also picked up some of their chicken salad, and it too was good, but nothing worth raving about. Bottom line: If you want baked goods better than the super market but don't want to drive too far, McEntyre's will do. read more

Just want you want in a bakery, and more. My mom has talked about this place for years, but I've never tried anything from there until last year when I ordered a cake for the lady's bday. To begin, it's not a big place, but they've done an excellent job of displaying everything they make in big, long cases all the way down nearly the length of the building. Cookies, cakes, croissants, breads, lots of delicious looking stuff gets you ready to eat even if you're not hungry. Service is quick and super friendly, very eager to assist you and answer any questions you may have, and the cake I ordered was dead on and delicious. They also do sandwiches which are equally as good, if not better, with quality meats, fresh cheeses, all on fresh baked breads. They do a weekly online special too which is a nice plus. An excellent little place for anyone looking for friendly service and a quality product. read more

If you're on a diet... stay away. Stay FAR FAR away! This place has the most wonderful treats. Awesome doughnuts for your commute in. The petit fours are also just little tidbits from heaven. Be sure not to miss the mini eclairs in the refrigerated cabinet by the cash registers... those can be easily missed and really shouldn't be. Special ordered a King Cake on Thurs, was ready on Sat. for pick up. No additional cost for last minute and it looked exactly like the picture on their web site. I ordered the cinnamon pecan for our party and it was delicious. Everyone said it was very good. I've tasted a couple from New Orleans and this was just as good. Also purchased a cherry pie. Nice flaky crust and not overly sweet. Definitely worth the drive from Duluth and definitely the place to get a traditional King Cake. read more

I had an incredibly awful experience ordering a cake from here. The cake was decorated beautifully but when we cut into the cake, it was dry, crumbly and not the slightest bit tasty. I was so embarrassed as I attempted to serve it to guests because it was obvious that we were all hesitant to even taste it. It seemed like the bakery decorated old cakes that were no longer fresh. I was so excited thinking that I had found a good cake bakery to go to instead of defaulting to Publix, but I guess I have to keep looking. It was a tremendous disappointment since I paid quite a bit and ordered the cake weeks in advance. There's just no excuse for the poor quality of cake I received. Not good and not professional. I can take the not professional part if it was an awesome bakery. But it is not. They don't bake anything there. Try paying in cash for your custom order and see what happens, you get absolutely nothing. When I asked for something in return for my cash, "that's not how it works....." was the response to my receipt / order# / any piece of paper request. I left with nothing but hopes that my order would be ready in a week. Are you aware of any other establishment in existence (that wants to stay in business) that does this??????????????? After a week went by I picked up my cake, it looked like they had done the artwork right and I was pleased. When I got home my wife however was not pleased, nor was I, when we actually tasted it . Dry as a bone on the inside. It was a yellow cake with chocolate icing. Dry as a bone. I think it was well over a week old. Had to throw it out. My wife reminded me that I was not supposed to go there again because a year ago we threw out one of their cakes as well. I forgot. Special occasion ruined! They say third time is the charm, but, I won't be going back a third time. No way. Oh, and I almost forgot.....at Christmas time picked up some lovely looking cookies and when I got home they tasted like I could have bought 3 dozen for a dollar at a secondhand food outlet store. I don't understand the great reviews for this bakery. The donuts are ok, but the cakes taste grocery store bought- tasteless, dry, and oversugared. For an office party I purchased a number of goods: a pound cake that was so dry no one would eat it, cookies that were grainy (like they were old) and the brownies had a loose cakey texture (as opposed to dense and fudgy). I also purchased a strawberry cake that was unremarkable. The baked goods don't have the buttery richness like grandma used to bake nor the whole grain freshness of a contemporary bakery. I wish Smyrna had a quality bakery because McEntyre's is bare adequate. read more

I gave them the freedom to wow me, and mission accomplished! The cookies turned out so cute, and not to mention they tasted delicious! This place is quite nostalgic to me but I will keep the review as unbiased as possible. As a kid it was the best thing in the world to go over to Jonquil Plaza with my grandmother and get a sugar cookie. They have moved since then and the staff always seems different every time I stop by. The sugar cookies are still a favorite and the petit fours are also delightful. The T.V. bars are also a well known treat but the last few times the cake has been super dry. This is also a pretty good place for lunch. I just recently tried it out and I can say I would definitely have lunch there again. read more

Bought a Chocolate Devil's Food Cake with Fudge Icing for a birthday. The cake was old and the icing started to come off. The Cake was very dry and had a bad taste. The cake was uneatable and had to be thrown away. The cake was over priced, I could had bought a better cake at the grocery store.
