Saturday night approx. 6:30 pm when we walked in for the very first time in this BAR/ GRILL , we waited inside the door next to a sign saying PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED, so we did for 10 to 15 minutes as the staff hustled around who looked up periodically at my wife & I along with the people who came in after us. however, NO ACKNOLAGEMENT was made to anyone coming in for dinner OUCH #1 ...as time went by, I finally asked one of the staff serving food , is there a host for seating? his answer was!!! WHEN WERE READY WE WILL LET YOU KNOW ! ( OUCH #2 ) so another 10 minutes go by and I look up at the same young man who is now behind the bar serving drinks, he Nods his head and points to a newly open booth I confirm with him if my wife and I should sit there and he nodded YES , great we now have a table. Time goes by we sat there with no drinks , menu or place settings for another 7-10 minutes (OUCH #3). now i notice a staff member with a pencil behind his ear who seemed to be a ''Host'' / server / bartender walks by us 4 or 5 times and looking at us like we had had done something to offend him. now I notice him seating another two couple's WHO CAME IN AFTER US and puts table settings along with menus on the table..... I ASK Him, excuse me can we get some menu's? His unprofessional BAR STYLE Answer was --- IF you would have waited to be seated i would of given them to you!!! OUCH #4 my answer i told him the gentlemen working behind the Bar told me to sit there so he plopped two menu's down and walked away OUCH #5 . NOTE * I'm out to have a good time with my wife, so I Really Restrained myself from telling him what i really thought of him .... bottom line -- it was a waste of my time as WE walked out and will never return .... We went here because a person recommended it. It seems like they were either under staffed or in a shift change. They were a little busy. There was a quiet atmosphere at that time. We got the chicken quesadillas. Huge portion!! They come with guacamole, pico and sour cream this could be shared for sure! The chicken was a bit too spicy for my wife's liking but was good. Also ordered the 1/2 roast beef sandwich salad and soup. Which was also a good size portion and was also good. We ordered an appetizer of chips and nacho cheese which was good and enough to share! Over all the food is decent bar food. I will say something seemed off when we were there. Not sure what it was but we didn't feel welcome I get it that everyplace has an off day over all it was just okay. read more

Our friends, who are regulars, brought us here for dinner. The restaurant has a unique, creative vibe - TV sets tucked into bookcases and books arranged on shelves on the walls. Mixed-matched chairs paired with tabletops add the the laid-back feel. Service was so-so. Our server was friendly and made small take with our friends, however another server assisting him didn't really go out of his way to be helpful. The menu is extensive and I was having a difficult time deciding what to order. Everything looked so good.. I decided on the blackened chicken quesadillas. They were okay, nothing outstanding. My husband opted for the Angus burger. It was juicy and cooked to a perfect medium. One of our friends ordered pasta and the other a Caesar salad. This has been our favorite bar for years, and we stop anytime we are in the area since we have moved. So the food is standard bar food, but done well, and it's got a huge menu. Honestly this place is a local gem. They have an extensive menu, but just about everything you order is exceptional. Prices are extremely reasonable for the great quality of the food, and the bartender Bob is always working hard and gives us top tier service every time. We walk in, he sees us, and he gets us our drinks before we have time to sit down most of the time. Also, love the music rotation ,and they are always showing music videos on the tv. The owner/ waiter was rude, even though I have been a customer for over 10 years. When I could not find him to tell him I was not happy with his attitude, I said out loud to the waiter I had to find to give me a check that the waiter who served me was unpleasant ( in other words), that waiter told me to go out the door and I did not have to come back. Our first visit to McGregor Grill after a recommendation and it did not disappoint. We were glad that we made the trip from Sanibel to have dinner here. 3 of us went to the gill this evening . We where told there would be a wait of 10 mins. Not a problem we saw it was busy. We where told we would be next. As tables where cleaned off, Other people came in and and stood with us. We said there is a wait politely to other guest. They stood with us. They said ( where just sitting down ) as we stood in line. After the second group of people came in, we mentioned we where told to wait for another table. Those folk said (where not waiting ) as we are standing next to the "wait here to be seated sign " . When this happened, My friend went up to the manager the person who told us to wait. My friend politely mention. ( You told us to wait to be seated.) several times. The Maniger said " I will F----ing seat you when I am F---ing ready " and that is a quote. So we left. Service down the tubes, ambience still the same, clean restaurant like it's always been , I have been in the industry for a long time, and very sad to say this is probably one of the worst services I've ever had , in fact, we both felt like we were bothering him,, came In March 9th 2023 for lunch around 12:30, had to get our food to go ! Don't call them. They don't answer the phone. In fact they don't care if you do business there at all. On their website they have a happy hour (2 to 5pm daily) but they don't honor it. Great food! We ordered Reuben Sandwich, Fish Sandwich, Pork Chop Special with asparagus and baby potatoes also fried mushrooms. All of thought it was delicious. We did come in with the dinner rush so expect a few delays at being sitter and served but it was all worth the wait. It a relative small restaurant. I take my hat off to the staff.... They were literally hustling, all three helping each other and providing a professional service to the customers. They could use an extra hand. Kudos to them!!!! ...and the cooks!!! I've been in this town for 35 years and this is one of my favorites! The food is outstanding and usually they serve late to make sure you don't go to bed hungry! Locals hangout here usually other in the biz workers although the service is here and there the food makes it totally worth the wait!! Stopped in on a Monday night for dinner with my parents and had a decent experience. A great "hole in the wall" place at the end of a strip mall with a few outdoor seating options. Inside was clean and welcoming with a variety of booths, barstools, high tops and regular tables to chose from. We kind of awkwardly stood at the front door longer than normal before a staff member appeared and said sit wherever you like. That staff got us silverware and menus, another staff got and brought us our drinks and then yet another staff took our order. So we never really knew who to ask or flag down when we needed a refill or extra napkins, but overall everybody was friendly. We ordered some appetizers, a salad and "sammich." There's definitely a wide variety of options to chose from so there's something for everybody! I included pictures of what we ordered which was Calamari, small Nachos, large Italian salad and an Italian sandwich. While ordering the waitress informed us that the salad was made with Romain lettuce(which was during the whole "scare" in November '18) so that was appreciated. Nachos were great - PLENTY of toppings and overall great taste. My dad said his sandwich was good but there was no way to pick it up and eat it since it was piled high. And when you order a sandwich, that's kind of what you want to do. The homemade chips that came with it were excellent though. The Italian Salad - almost impossible to eat. As you see in the pictures it was stocked with slices of deli meats and toppings without room to cut the meat and mix everything together. We picked at some pepperoni and turkey, dug down for a few pieces of lettuce but overall it was just too much to try to maneuver. Calamari I was definitely disappointed with. As shown in the photos the breading was too heavy for the delicate calamari. The breading reminding me of something you'd use on toasted ravioli, cheese sticks or even a chicken Parmesan. But it barely coated the calamari and we were left eating plain calamari rings as the breading continued to fall off as it went from the plate to my mouth. There was a line of TV's across from the booths playing music videos, sports, news & a trivia game on the TVs you could get a console from the bar to play, a corner full of board games and a dart board by the front door. Definitely some options if you want to stick around for more than just food & drinks. A perk you don't see often was the booths were equipped with USB ports to charge phones. My dad enjoyed it overall but mom & I are still on the fence. A place we would go back to but also wouldn't be upset if we didn't go back either. If/when we go back, definitely trying a burger as there were advertisements for them on the TVs constantly running. read more

I live in the area. I love coming here for their angus burger. Best burger in town. Service is great, the staff is friendly and accommodating. I eat my burgers rare and they always nail it. It is a great place for families, for a quick bite or a few drinks after work. I have also had the company pizza, fried fish, fish sandwich, and shrimp scampi. It is all very good.
