I got my AC and Heating unit through McMaster Heating and Air 2 years ago. Yesterday, my AC unit wouldn't turn on. I sent an email to Ron (the owner) with pictures of the fault showing in the display. He recommended I reset the switch at the main circuit. I did and it worked. My 30+ year old air conditioning system had degraded, and so I received quotes from 4 different vendors for complete replacement of my HVAC system. I noticed this company doing work at my neighbors house, so I decided to give them a call and get a quote since our A/C failed a few days prior. I had gotten several quotes before to repair/replace our A/C units at the house and was dreading having another company come in and give me their big sales pitch as to why we should by there products and tell me what i cant do with my current system. To my surprise i called and was able to have a sale rep show up at our home just a day after. His name was James he showed up, he was clean and very professional, he had a ton of information on our current situation. He took his time looking at our system and came up with a solution that would be fit our budget. Upon talking with him further he informed me of the rebates that carrier was offering in addition to the Edison rebates we could be eligible for if we replaced our systems. He wasn't trying to up sell me anything he was not pushing the sale he just said this is was it is and gave me a price for the good, the better, and the best. We ended up going with the Best system because it was offering the most amount of rebates and was actually cheaper than the better option and most efficient. After signing our contract he was able to order the parts and get our installation scheduled within a few days after signing which was very helpful considering the heat wave we were experiencing at the time. The team we got to install our system was awesome. Jeff and Matt did an absolute phenomenal job on our installation. They were professional, they worked long hard hours to get our system working for us. We have two small kids and they knew that having them in a hot house was not good for us. They ended up having to replace the ducting in our attic and matt took his time to place the ducting in a way that created a huge amount of storage space in our attic. Jeff did an amazing job getting our outside condensing units situated, level typed up so everything was clean and looking perfect. Their attention to detail was 5 star. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to get a repair or full replacement system for their home. We are beyond satisfied. Our A/C is incredible, why better than before. DO NOT USE!! completely negligent with work. This company came out to our vacant rental townhouse to check all the heating and air systems. Paid $195 for "maintenance". They came out, looked, said everything looked good. When renters arrived, they noticed water underneath AC unit and water dumping out of the "excess pipe into the driveway. When I called to schedule a revisit, they said they would have to charge a service call. I told them the unit had not been used and they had just been out to check it and had said everything was fine. They said, they had done their "work" for the "maintenance", but another visit would require a service charge. I said no thanks and went with another company with great Yelp reviews. that was the best choice I've made. New company came out and wrote: found drain clogged under the sink upstairs from the condensation connection. lots of standing water and a dirty filter that had not been changed. disconnected drain under sink and cleared major clog and cleaned surrounding areas. removed 2 gallons of standing water total 1 gallons was in the auxiliary pan underneath the unit in the attic. New company said changing the filter should clearly be part of a "maintenance" call. and couldn't believe another company had come out and told us the system was "good". VERY BAD!!! wish I could give ZERO STARS read more

McMaster has installed a new Carrier Furnace and AC Unit. The price was right and we could not have been happier with the service we received. We had been three weeks without heat and McMaster made sure that they got our heat up and running so that we would be warm for the weekend. The workmen were on-time, courteous, professional, mindful of the house and cleaned up after themselves. The reason I gave it 1 star rating is because the company doesn't stand behind the agreement I had with my sales person,James Maloney. He quit and I am now left with a contract that the owner won't honor. I worked with James before on another project and use him again for this new project. We finalized the contract and I was waiting to get HOA approval. James' bid was higher than the other bids I received, which I forwarded to him. I asked that he include the patching that will be created by new AC lines and screen to cover the condenser as required by the association since his price is a considerably higher. His reply to me in writing was "I might be able to work with you on this, what is the HOA requiring for the screening?". With that, to me is he agreed and we proceeded with him helping me submit all the necessary paperwork. I am now approved, he is gone, and the owner said that patching is not included and the he won't do screen, even after I sent all the emails exchange between James and I. I had another job already lined up for them too. So NO, I will not use them. read more

James, the salesperson was very professional and educated me on a number of available options. He clearly answered my several pages of questions. He provided a thorough proposal with all of the details and price options. I interviewed five companies for installation of double HVAC systems and McMaster was clearly the best choice. The installation team were also very professional, mannerly and kept me informed throughout the installation. They were very efficient and focused to install the units correctly. I tend to be a person who is very particular on how things are done and I was very pleased at the pride of workmanship they demonstrated. Very rare these days. I can tell that Mc Master has worked on instilling customer into every employee and it showed. I very much appreciated the extremely high level of customer service. McMaster really saved me this summer. I had called multiple contractors and either had to leave a message or put on an unanswered hold. Fortunately, the next day I talked to my boss who suggested McMaster; I also noticed McMaster is certified by SDG&E to perform Energy Upgrade service. Upon calling I was greeted by McMaster's office staff who were efficient and courteous. They too had a backlog of calls but apologized for my wait and were able to schedule an appointment. McMaster's office manager, Christian, was sent out and he took the time to fully explain all my options with all the pros and cons of each and not just trying to jam me into a new AC system. Being the cheapskate, I choose a Freon recharge with hopes of getting another season out of my 13+year old AC. Sure enough, it worked like a charm, but after two weeks the system slowly started to lose efficiency (as I was cautioned it could). I called Christian and he was able to quickly schedule an install date and applied the Freon service fee towards a new AC system. Importantly, McMaster's installation team were completely professional. They arrived on time, protected my flooring and left the work site spotless. Andrew (one of the Installer Techs) completely reviewed the new system and helped me set up the wifi-enabled thermostat (very cool!!!). After installation, Christian called for any follow-up questions and to ensure I was completely satisfied. By all means, do your homework and compare pricing; in the end I believe you'll be recommending McMaster highly too. read more

From start to finish I had a wonderful experience. When I called, the receptionist was very nice and understanding when I told her what was going on. She set me up with an appointment immediately with one of their technicians.Ron came out and quickly end to work on my furnace. The whole experience was as hassle free as I could have imagined. My 4-year-old unit has twice stopped blowing cool air since purchasing and having it installed by McMaster in 2013. The most recent was on 8/4/17. The first time around was about 2 years after McMaster installed it and then subsequently serviced it. The technician they provided the first time around, serviced it by adding 2 lbs. of refrigerant, charging $160 and leaving with the comments that there were no further issues. Because the unit stopped blowing cool air again on 8/4/17, it prompted me to do a google search and I found that a properly installed and properly functioning unit should never require refrigerant, and if it does require it, there's another problem. McMaster company reps admittedly stated their technician they provided on the first issue, is no longer with them because he was not thorough. It's obvious to me that the first incident resulted in the second incident because they failed to diagnose why the unit stopped blowing cool air the first time around. I had requested to speak with the owner upon my initial call this second time around, and was told by the girl who answers their phone that it's not gonna happen. She was right, it didn't. Sure, they were professional and insured me that they were the best qualified when they sold me their product, but the true test is their treatment and competence of all employed by McMaster after they have your money. McMaster has failed this test in my circumstances. read more

Last year I decided to call Ron, owner, to replace my ancient furnace and provide me with a new HVAC. There was no doubt in my mind to call them as McMaster had done a wonderful job replacing my parents system. Ron went over the specs since I was relocating my furnace to the attic and adding an AC unit. I selected a top of the line product which is quite quiet. Paid $7100 for new Carrier unit. Installed and installer failed to seal ducts. Blower motor failed after short time. Hole allowed rodents to enter attic causing damages. I found this company in a home improvement catalog. From the initial estimate (Which they did in the evening to accommodate my schedule) to the final completion I was super happy with them. The price was very competitive and we just felt really comfortable with them. The quality of work they did was great, they explained to us everything they were/would be doing and showed us how to work things/answered all our questions. They cleaned up after themselves and the job looks great. We had 5 estimates from other companies and we felt this company was the most knowledgeable about the work they would be performing and the product they were selling. We would highly recommend McMaster to others. All their employees that came into my home were completely professional. They informed us of the rebates that would be provided by Carrier as well as Edison. I never felt like they were trying to sell us anything or upsale us. I never felt pressured into anything. Due to the load testing included in their process, I was able to use smaller units than what was originally installed. My mother lives in Laguna Woods retirement village. Earlier this week, the heating and air unit went out in her home. Trust me, it is a BIG issue when she does not have heat in her home. I called McMaster based on a recommendation to have them look at the unit. They were there in 20 minutes from when I called. I very professional tech looked at the unit. The bad news was that the unit really needed to be replaced (got same prognosis for a second heating company). They were able to replace the unit the next day at a price that was 50% lower than the other company (I will right a different review for them!!!). The owner of the company "Tom" (if I remember correctly) was very professional during the entire process and even offered to take out a portable heater to keep her warm for the night she would not have heat. McMaster Heating and Air did an excellent job! I could not be more happy. We have had two different systems installed since we first moved into our home, but nothing compared to what McMaster installed. From the start, they were honest, punctual, informative, and professional. They were also extremely reasonable in price. Our old HVAC systems were loud and failed to heat or cool our house very well. Not only was McMaster the only one to recommend moving our heater to the attic to minimize the sound and to get the proper air flow to the system, but they also fixed the whole venting system which had been improperly installed. Now, it is like living in a new house. It is quiet and the cool at all times or warm depending on what is on.They were the only ones to make complex load calculations on the home to confirm the appropriate system. They were hard working and professional during the installation. They made everything easy, including helping get any refunds. I was beyond impressed. I give this company a 10+ out of 10 and will never work with anyone else except them in the future. They are like no others. Excellent in every way!
