Mario with MD Home Service provided amazing service! Highly recommended. Below is our story/experience on our "broken" built-in 1990 sub zero: I first called GVC Appliance Repair to look at our sub-zero refrigerator. I was traveling at the time, but my girlfriend was home, so I had GVC come to our house as quickly as they could to look at the fridge. I recieved a quote from GVC, while on a plane, and it was for $1,100! Oh no! I called my girlfriend when I got off the plane and she told me that the GVC technician came in, opened the fridge door (did nothing else), said it needed $400 worth of parts and $700 worth of labor (even though the repair was going to take only 1.5 to 2 hours...). So, we decided we needed a second opinion. I found MD Home Services, Mario, on Yelp. His reviews are fantastic and they proved to be true. Before coming out to the home, Mario asked me to take a few pictures of the sub zero's model number and iced up panel. He wanted to make sure he was prepared before coming out and charging me money. After looking over the pictures we tried to match up our schedules on Friday, but it just wasn't working out. So he called me on Saturday and came out around 5PM. He began by talking to me about the problem while opening up the refrigerator. I left him to his business and in about 30 minutes he said that the intake needed to be cleaned and that the coils needed to be de-iced. He did warn me that this could possibly not solve the problem, but we should start simple before moving to expensive. About 45 minutes later he finished and was putting the refrigerator back together. He said, "See how it is running in the morning and we can figure out how to move forward from there." The next day he texted me to ask how it was running. It was around 39 degrees, good start, so I decided to set the refrigerator to as cold as it could go. The next morning it was below 30 degrees! Looks like it is working great. I doubt this is a standard refrigerator repair success story, especially with such an old sub zero. But, the point of all this is that Mario was great to work with, took his time, and helped me in my decision on how to move forward. When the refrigerator (or any appliance) fails again he will be my first call. All in all he only cost me $150. Win win. read more

I can't say enough good things about the exceptional services we've experienced from this company. It was a Sunday and my 12 year old GE refrigerator started acting up, wasn't cooling enough and the temperature kept on rising up. I've called 2 repair companies, left them messages but didn't get any response. Then I called Mario whom I found online from typing the "best refrigerator repair near me". He really knows what he's doing. Just by telling him what's wrong with my fridge over the phone, he already diagnosed what's wrong with it and ordered the parts himself. The best part of it was, he did a same day repair at no extra charge and the cost of the repair was reasonable and affordable which saved me hundreds of dollars. Again, we asked Mario to do another repair. Our gfci kitchen outlets stopped working for a few months. We had 2 different electricians who came and checked them, paid them for their trip and they can't even figure out what was wrong. In short, they didn't get to fix anything. After a week, Mario came to the rescue. He did check the outlets here and there, including the main circuit breaker and he didn't stop until he solve the problem. Finally, our gfci kitchen outlets are back to normal again and I'm glad to know that we're safe now. Mario was quick to respond, knowledgeable, thorough with his work, trust worthy and friendly. Mario wasn't my first call when our refrigerator​ went out but he'll be my first call next time. Professional, friendly and knowledgeable and he squeezed us in despite his busy workload. Fridge repair skills must be in short supply because most other services couldn't get anyone out to us in less than 3 days. Nice to have a local MH guy to service us. I Called about my heating that stopped working and he responded very quickly within the hour. $50 service call and diagnosis. My a/c decided to quit on me this weekend so out of desperation I contacted a few last Sunday and no one even bothered to call me back until I got Mario. He sounded very busy and I can tell he is and when I told him what my problem was, he said he'll show up and he did. Took the time to do his diagnostic checks and found that my a/c had a leak and out of refrigerant. He did what he needed to do and he took care of it. That night the a/c was working as it should. So we settled the amount and off he went to service another customer. (His phone does not stop from ringing and I can tell he was very busy but never that he made me feel rushed). He took his time to explain what was wrong with my system. Monday night as I was coming home from work, I turned the a/c on and to my surprise, there was no cold air blowing off again so I called him in desperation and he said he will come back and look at the system again. I was hoping that he will have a fix for it but unfortunately, he said this is going to be a bigger work than both of us were hoping. To cut the long story short, he is not able to fix my system. Gentleman enough, he said I do not want to charge you if I cannot fix the problem so he returned the payment I made to him last Sunday in full even though it cost him his time and his refrigerant and his sealant (which is not cheap). His gesture touched me despite of the heat and last minute call, he managed to show up did his best and still refunded me the money and did not even asked for any settlement. I volunteered something to at least defray at least for his trouble of coming over. In this day and age, it is very hard to find someone that is honest as Mario. Even though he was not able to help me on my a/c system now, it showed me the kind of character he has. He referred me to some reputable companies that he thinks will be of help to my problem. We called Mario on Sunday w a refrigerator problem. He let us know he can come next day by noon. The assessment was quick. He confirmed that it was the inverter board. And warned it was an expensive part (which I confirmed online that it was by doing my own search of the part). He made an effort to bring down his labor cost a little to help us out and he came next day to fix it. There were some times between both days were there was a problem w responsive and a very late arrival on first day without a heads up. I know he was busy w lots of other calls but would expect updates/communication so i could rearrange my other responsibilities for the day. Overall, I recommend Mario for fridge fix and I will be calling him first for any other appliance issues. Lastly, I just want to add that his minimum is $65 (very fair price!) and the cost of that goes toward the repair bill. read more

Mario is great, he came right out same day we called. Had problems with the refrigerator. He had to get a part, but came next day with it. Mario was very nice and efficient. Our refrigerator had stopped working and he was quickly available for a diagnosis for a reasonable $50 fee, which was eventually applied to the cost of the final repair, which appears to have gone well. The downgrading comes from his availability to come out to Discovery Bay to actually complete the repair. We had two missed appointments with no notification from Mario. Mario is fantastic! We've used his services twice and certainly will in the future whenever we need anything that he can help us with. Four years ago we moved into our home and he quickly installed our blinds for us (we were never home at the time due to commuting, and it was much easier to have someone do it for us!). Called Mario a couple of months ago regarding my air conditioner's cooling system. It was one of the hottest days. The problem was it seemed like the downstairs was cooling fine but it was still hot upstairs. I explained to him that it was one of our first summers in the house because we just purchased it. I called him late at night and was surprised that he even answered his phone and was willing to come right away. The best part he only charged me $40. He was prompt and very professional. He checked the outside unit, climbed up the attic and tested all the vents it the rooms. His equipment registered that everything was working properly. Since we only have one thermostat and a lot of windows upstairs with poor single pane windows and poor insulation he recommended to just wait and leave air conditioner on longer because it takes cool air longer to circulate upstairs.
