A staple in downtown Davenport, I finally had a chance to visit Me & Billy with a friend on my most recent visit to the city. While the meal itself was solid, the service experience left a little to be desired. To make a long story short, the hostess was not very friendly and there appeared to be a miscommunication in what level of service to expect when sitting at the bar. We were told we could order dinner there as well, but struggled for quite a while to get a menu or meal order in. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was uncomfy as I eventually had to return to the hostess and ask for a menu and help getting our order placed. Ordering simply wasn't a smooth experience - perhaps this would've been different had we been seated at a table, but again, we were told the bar was full-service. I fully acknowledge this could've been an off night and not the typical experience, but it was a little awkward. Otherwise, the meal was super solid. I ordered a mocktail (highly recommend, I love a good mocktail menu!), shared an appetizer, and opted for a burger as my entree, and everything was delicious. I would definitely visit again to try more of the menu.

Stopped in for lunch. Nice spot in downtown Davenport. They have great burgers, salads, grilled cheese. I had the Billy burger cooked as ordered it has an over easy egg on top & American cheese big burger 2 in our party had the grilled cheese with a tomato basil dipping sauce, they were huge portions We had the ahi tuna appetizer which was also large portion. Our waitress was quick & checked on us & refilled drinks. The only down side for me were the fries, they were overdone & a bit soggy, but I would definitely go back. Also got to meet Billy, he checked to make sure everything was good, very nice & I appreciated him coming to our table. You rarely get that in restaurants anymore. Will go back again soon. Had fried cheese curds with garlic aoeli, very yummy

Reaffirming my 4 star review from a few years ago. My wife and I stopped in on a Saturday night and after a short wait in their 'side waiting room', we were seated at a table. The vibe is very lively, with high ceilings and floor to wall windows, but it's an upbeat and energetic environment. I got a Turkey Burger and my wife got a Bison Burger. Both were excellent. I got the side of cooked jalapenos, and they were nicely spicy and a very generous serving for a very meager 70 cents. The fries were a blast of skin-on potato with a soft, starchy consistency and flavor. They reminded us of the homemade ones we used to make many years ago. Our server was very pleasant, but the bar was a bit slow getting drinks out, and the servers seemed to be very busy, so we did have to wait a few minutes longer than might have been ideal. All in all, a very good experience still, and they appear to be a real staple in Downtown Davenport given how long they've been here and how crowded they are. Definitely recommended.

Ambiance wasn't totally for me, somewhat loud for a space with food this good. Cocktail and beer lists get an A+++ from me, their cocktails are very fun and creative. The food was incredible, the sweet corn and radish puree with the pork chop was a HUGE hit for me.

Open and well lit with a very friendly vibe. Very comfortable and clean with a very nice bar selection. The melon salad was complicated but wasn't bad, wouldn't order again though. The chicken and dumpling soup was pretty good, it would be a regular thing come winter.

Food tasted good. A little pricey for what you get. The French fries were a little on the salty side and the fries were not crispy. No options for something other than fries unless you pay an extra $2.00. Took a while to get our food. We moved tables because of how cold the air conditioning was, didn't appreciate the comment of the server on how the air conditioning blows everywhere. The second table at least didn't have the air blowing directly on you. The ambiance of the restaurant was very noisy for us. Decor of the restaurant was up to date.

I'm in town for business and this was within walking distance from my hotel. When I walked in I was greeted by Billy himself. He's welcoming and accommodating as I had asked for a table in the corner so I could do work over lunch. When I looked around the burgers seem to be a lunchtime favorite but for me, why eat a burger when I can get that almost anywhere? My waitress shared her favorite sandwiches with me and I opted for the steak sandwich that comes with fries but subbed garlic green beans. The steak was cooked perfect. The bread is toasted and slathered with aioli, sweet tomato jam and topped with peppery arugula. The garlic green beans were an unexpected surprise. I could've eaten a bowl full! Buttery and garlicky with still a slight firmness in the green beans. Lastly I had a taste of the Brussels Sprouts. I prefer my sprouts pan fried and crispy. These sprouts had tons of flavor (dare I say teriyaki like?) but not crispy. I would come back for dinner and try their after 4pm menu. I was eyeing the shrimp and grits.

A casual classy joint in downtown Davenport. My wife and I stopped in for spell on our way to a concert that was 2 blocks away. Me & Billy came highly recommended from two locals earlier in the day, so away we went. I started with an Apple Harvest Margarita; a delicious concoction for $10 and then ordered the DLUX Darn Big Grilled Cheese Sandwich for $14. Sourdough bread with muenster and cheddar, whiskey glazed onions, bacon onion marmalade, spinach, and tomato with cups of tomato basil and buttermilk ranch for dipping along with a healthy size side of fries. The size of the sandwich was definitely DLUX and Darn Big; it was at least the size of two normal sandwiches in length. Filling, unique and reorder worthy. Darn big and darn tasty. My wife was still full from our earlier lunch in Dubuque so she went straight to dessert with the Stacked Chocolate Cake. A huge chunk of cake and just like the sandwich could easily serve two people. Decadently delicious and plated beautifully. Our server (Ithink his name was Cody) was charming, knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend.

We stopped by for a late dinner on a Friday night when we were driving through Davenport on a road trip. Me & Billy features lively vibes, high ceilings and a cute and modern decor. Our service was friendly and relatively quick for a busy weekend night. We ordered the warm kale & bacon salad with salmon and the Franny burger with fries, both were very good. The fries were not super crispy or flavorful, so I would recommend ordering a different side. Worth a visit if you are in the area!

When he came back, I ordered my lunch, and the burger I got was of the same caliber as those at Culver's but for double the price. Small, thin patties, cooked to order as long as it's medium or well done. My drink finally arrived after I'd finished my meal, but it made for a nice dessert. I was given the drink at half price for the inconvenience, which I appreciated. I'll be back only to try their lobster mac, but their burgers are sad and way overpriced.

Early afternoon we both started getting a little hungry, The breakfast sandwiches from Dunkin' in Muscatine had run their course. I'd heard The Filling Station had a pretty good tenderloin at one time and their site and online menu looked pretty good. It was easy to find and their parking lot is HUGE. No problem finding a place to park on a Saturday afternoon... Two hostesses greeted us as we walked in. One of them seated us, gave us menus, and let us know a server would be with us soon. Don't expect a Michelin star environment. It's kind of old school casual sports bar. Lots of dark wood and neon signs. Lots of TVs. Seating is booths as well as both low and high top tables and chairs. There's the standard bar and stools too... Standard table service for ordering and payment. I didn't catch the young man's name who served us, but my receipt said Jordan so I hope that's correct... Jordan greeted us and let us know he would be our server. Took our drink order, and let us know about a couple items on the menu. The tenderloin and wings. A couple minutes later he was back with our drinks and answered a couple questions we had on the menu. I ordered the breaded tenderloin and fries and Heather ordered the cheese curd burger with frie and a side of ranch. While we waited for our order Jordan checked in on us now and then and kept us updated. Our drinks (a tea and water) never hit the bottom of the glass. Our order hit the table hot and fresh! It was easy to tell the tenderloin, cheese curds on the burger, and fries were right out of the fryer. The tenderloin is 3/4 of a pound and served on an 8 inch bun. It's nice to see a bun that is some semblance of proportional to a large tenderloin... That being said... I think it is a true tenderloin and not a fritter. BUT it is pounded a little more thin than what I normally like... I could see why some people in other reviews, and on other sites, would mistakenly call this a fritter. It's a couple of whacks from getting the point of ground up pork. The taste was on point, but as I ate it I could feel it getting dryer and it was harder to eat when I got to the last of it. I think leaving the 'loin a little thicker would eliminate this happening... Just a thought. I'd still order it again as is. Heather really liked her cheese curd burger too. I'm sure the ranch was originally intended for the curds or the fries, but she said adding it to the burger made it even better... I'll leave that one alone... Chicken...sure. I'm not sure how I feel about the combination of good beef and ranch. Lol Prices were reasonable and Jordan stayed on top of everything the entire meal. Couldn't have asked for a better server! We had a stellar first visit to The Filling Station... I'm going to hit those breaded wings the next time we're in town!
