Traveling for work and figured I would grab a bite around the corner from my hotel. Doesn't take reservations but figured I'd probably just sit at the bar anyway. Came in and it was busy but not crazy, with tables open. The younger hostess seemed to want to help but was relegated to the bar by default by the rude, older hostess. Remember, they take no reservations and are explicitly first come, first serve. The bar is full, kind of.... pairs of people spread across three seats. People milling about. Thinking it's not my job to try and convince people to make room, particularly if I'm being told that's where I'm sitting for dinner by the staff. Service, right? Walked out without notice (because they clearly didn't care) and went down the street where I'm now having a drink and waiting for my steak. read more

My daughter went with a group of friends and they were told they would have a wait time of around 45 minutes. After about 50 minutes, they had noticed that larger groups that had arrived after them were beginning to be seated along with another smaller groups. All of the party members in the other groups were adults, and my daughter is almost 18 and so are all her friends, this information will come in handy later. One of my daughter's friends is diabetic and needed to be seated soon, so they asked the waitress when they would be seated, the waitress then responded with another 45 minute wait. By this time they had already been waiting over an hour. They then asked why everyone else was seated before them, the waitress was very kind and told us the owner picks whoever she wants to be seated. My daughter then had to make the decision to take her business elsewhere, one of her friends went up to the owner to let her know that we had a bad experience and wont be back. The owner then waved her hand in her face and said "OK" waving her out. Anyone who knows customer service would respond with kindness. This woman clearly has something to work on. This wouldn't be such a big deal if my daughters friend was not diabetic, the fact that they let the waitstaff know that she had medical issues and needed to be sat, and the needs were not met. When they walked out, numerous tables were open. I do not recommend this restaurant because they like to discriminate. read more

me and billy is a great local family owned restaurant with pretty good food! i am sad to say they aren't super consistent with their burger and chicken (chicken often has a charred flavor that isn't great), but when it's good it's great! the burger tastes a little like a frozen patty at times (usually when they're busy). however, their grilled cheese is consistently bomb! they have good drinks, and usually have great service. i really like the vibes inside the restaurant, especially around the holidays! read more

Was excited to try this place with my best friend. It was cutely decorated for Christmas and beautiful on the inside. We both did the build your own burger, she got the beef burger and I got bison. You couldn't tell the difference honestly. Both were great and cooked correctly but even with the cheese egg avocado and garlic aioli it didn't have much flavor. The mac n cheese wasn't anything special. Overall, the experience along with the service sitting at the bar was average. The bar manager talked to one of the bar staff in a way that was off putting, scolding her in front of the bar essentially which I didn't appreciate. I've worked in the restaurant industry for a long time, and there is a better way to talk to your employees with respect even if you are in the weeds. My wife and I ate here before attending a concert at the Adler Theatre down the street. The entire staff was very friendly. I ordered the salmon naan and it was very good and filling and included fries. My wife had the truffle New York strip steak which she liked. The place was decorated for Christmas and looked nice. Stopped in here on our way out of Davenport thanks to a recommendation from a coworker, and I'm so glad we did. Their COVID-19 protocols were perfect, tables spread out and plenty of hand sanitizer. The waitress wore a mask the whole time. Everything I had on the menu was bomb, as tasted gourmet which chain prices. It was AMAZING. The nachos were unique and flavorful (these are huge, they're a meal for two people on their own!). I got the seasonal burger which was a chicken patty (okay I was thinking the frozen kind, this was no patty, this was a HUNK of fresh, juicy meat fried to perfection) with friend pickles and avocado. It was delightful. I drove home 4 hours and brought half home for my boyfriend, he was amazed by just the leftovers! The Mac and cheese had a unique bite to it, almost like it was made with blue cheese, but also quite good. Great service, clean restaurant, top notch service. This place is a must. read more

Very cool place with a big bar and good comfort food but fresh! Was in town for work and it was close to my hotel and was recommended for good food and great prices! Those were definitely hit! I got the grilled chicken Caesar salad, cup of the chicken and dumplings soup and fresh cheese curds! The salad was massive and really fresh which I appreciated, the chicken and dumplings was filled with chicken and the flavor was so full and was extremely fresh. The cheese curds were solid and worth the price. I've had better but they were not heavy and greasy which was nice. Definitely a good place for casual dining and good food! read more

Zero wait for a group of 7 on a Wednesday night. Food came out within a reasonable amount of time after ordering. Chicken and Dumpling soup with a side of apple orchard salad was the perfect size for a light meal. The soup was flavorful and had a great ratio of veggies/meat to liquid. Garlic Green beans, were perfectly cooked (still had a bit of a crisp to them but not undercooked). Not too flavorful, the garlic was very light. Everything tasted fresh! We live out of town and have been wanting to try this place. Big let down. Bar service was terrible. Both bartenders were rude and clearly bothered we sat down at their bar. It took an exceptionally long time to be greeted and to order drinks. We had to ask for food menus. Food was not great. The cold shrimp/dill dip needed lemon or an acid component. The presentation was ugly. I had the salmon naan flatbread. The naan was soggy, the salmon was not cooked to the temp I ordered and I ordered no onions on it and it came loaded with red onions. This place has terrific food at good rices. I had the darned big grilled cheese which is darn big and has a delicious Parmesan crust and comes with tomato basil soup to dip it in. With the added bacon it was still only $12. My girlfriend had the Birger with cheese curds, which was delicious as well. I have been here a few times over the years when I visit my friends in the QC and I have always enjoyed this place. We normally sitting at the bar and have drinks and apps but on our most recent visit we got a table and had meals. They have some really great adult beverage options and fun seasonal cocktails. I had a pumpkin espresso martini and apple cider margarita! Both very delicious! I also had the adult grilled cheese, with bacon added because why not, and I got the cheesy grits as my side. The grilled cheese is pretty big and I took half home. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. However, if you are a grits fans, you will not be disappointed in these. They were so delicious and if I hadn't been in public I would've licked the plate! The other dishes at our table looked great as well. Our service from Jack was absolutely great too. An assuming restaurant on the corner, I walk in to Me & Billy on a quiet night but immediately feel welcomed and at home. Honestly, I might be biased in giving this place 5 stars just for the amazing playlist of 80's music in the background, but the hospitality of the bartender and the food make this place worth the trip. I started with the pommes frites. Read the ingredients ladies and gentlemen because it is definitely not what you would expect. The fries are covered in tender steak and an amazing aioli. It says "To Share" because this is enough for a meal in itself. Fortunately I quit dieting in the early 2000's so I have room for these things. It's a really great dish and the steak and sauce give it texture, flavor, and a twist that I would come back for. So after that huge dish, I decided to go with the skinny salmon, you know, to balance out the gluttony. I appreciate how simple the dish was with the asparagus and grain. Great flavors without anything overpowering the taste of the salmon which is really the centerpiece in the dish, as it should be. I've had several meals in Davenport and this experience has been one of my favorites. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the Kentucky mules, maybe the great food...but most likely, the perfect combination of all three. Pro-tip: They have drink specials each night of the week. We enjoyed another awesome lunch today at Me & Billy. I tried the Franny Berger for the first time, and I'm pretty sure there's enough cheese to satisfy a Wisconsin Cheese Head. The Franny has a burger, a burger sized cheese curd and American Cheese on a pretzel bun plus house cheese sauce for dipping your burger or the natural cut fries. So good. The service is quick but we have experienced issues with our wait staff messing up food orders and forgetting to check in with both sides of our table for refills. But, be ready to experience a standard menu and Husband/Wife (wife has always been professional and friendly) ownership that is regularly running the establishment where the husband is extra loud(maybe drunk?) and walks around "greeting" all customers. I could go into great detail on how the vibe is killed by the owner-gentleman's actions while in his establishment, but I'll reserve that for you to go and see it first hand. I have been to this establishment about 9 times and it's def got a lot of potential and surely wont fail anytime soon- even with my complaints. The fries are amazing and the layout is welcoming for small-big groups, and individuals looking for a meal or drink. The food is amazing! The service is incredible (thank you Nick!) I was in town for business for 2 weeks. Despite all the great restaurants in the area I kept coming back to this place. Ate there 4 times during my stay, all different orders. Everything was precisely crafted and very different from any of the other restaurants in town. (Must try the mushroom steak soup ).
