We so not happy! We were nearby at Costco & wanted to check out SoMA Streat Eats. We decided on sharing the Cali Sliders (2 for $8). There was a also a check in deal on Yelp for free garlic fries with purchase...score! The guy taking our order asked how we wanted them and we said medium. The sliders were topped with bacon, balsamic caramelized onions and Gorgonzola cheese. I liked how the sliders were a little different with the use of Gorgonzola. The burgers were cooked more well done than medium and weren't juicy at all. Bf also pointed out that they were pretty thin, and that usually with sliders they compensate for the size of the overall burger with a little thicker of a patty. The garlic fries were perfectly crisp, but I couldn't really taste the garlic or much of the parm cheese. Would not come back. At least the fries were free and the guys were quick with cranking out the order. I think I'll stick to restaurants for sliders/burgers.

Oh sure, I've seen their familiar pink-and-black truck around town (photo: http://bit.ly/1DSRE0u), the last time likely being the Eat Real Food Festival over in Oakland. As you can probably guess, I'm not much of a food truck connoisseur, but even I've heard good things about Me So Hungry from people who follow the Off the Grid markets. I don't mind them, I just don't seek them out, but this one landed on my doorstep, or at least in front of the office building where I work. Since I was tired of getting my daily vegetarian sandwich that particular day, I decided to go for broke and ordered the relatively bargain priced Cali Sliders at $8. You get two with an order, nice little Angus beef patties stacked with smoked Applewood bacon, balsamic sauteed onions, mixed greens and Gorgonzola cheese, encased in a freshly baked bun. I also went for a $4 order of the Garlic Parmesan Fries with little regard for my colleagues back at the office who had to sit next to me at a staff meeting (photo: http://bit.ly/1NeZZRi). There were plenty of other sliders to consider (though they appear to run out quickly judging from the number of crossed lines on the menu) and regular-size temptations like the $9 Monster Burger that featured cheddar and Asian BBQ sauce, the $10 Duke that included onion rings and cheese bread, and the obligatory Garden Burger for $9. But for $12, I got a pretty decent amount of food that was well prepared for a truck. The sliders were devoured pretty quickly, but that was just as well since I was eating at my desk and didn't feel like being interrogated over how good they were. Yes, they're good, now go back to your computer please! FOOD - 4 stars...better sliders and fries than you would think you would get from a food truck AMBIANCE - 3 stars...uhhh, it's a truck...what ambiance? SERVICE - 3.5 stars...the food is prepared pretty quickly considering the growing queue TOTAL - 4 stars...burgers from a truck? I can dig it

Me So Hungry showed up as a caterer for a first birthday party at a park. I thought that was really cool. There were four people in front of us and to get up to order took about 20 mins. We ordered again and the wait to get our food was another 20 mins. Forty minutes total and my stomache was ready to eat itself. What we swallowed: SLIDER SAMPLER: CALI SLIDER (ANGUS BEEF WITH SMOKED APPLE WOOD BACON, BALSAMIC SAUTEED ONIONS MINUS THE GORGONZOLA CHEESE): This was a pretty good burger. The meets was cooked well done (as requested) and this was tasty. KTM SLIDER (SHORT RIBS WITH PEPPER JACK CHEESE, CRISPY ONIONS MINUS THE CREME FRAICHE): Other than the fact that I had a huge chunk of short rib (It was seriously the size of half my fist) in between this little tiny slider bun, the meat had a good flavor although the crispy onions were very limp. FLYIN HAWAIIAN SLIDER (SHREDDED CHICKEN WITH CRISPY MAUI ONIONS AND CHIPOTLE AIOLI): The chicken was very sweet but what's worse was it was COLD! Ugh! Cold shredded chicken! Yuck! One bite and I was done with it! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/me-so-hungry-san-francisco?select=wRhtEfnYkJ68L9URt9nuIg#yC94fYHeToHTTT7Khtvyhw MONSTER BURGER (ANGUS, BACON, CHEDDAR CHEESE, LETTUCE AND ASIAN BBQ SAUCE): This burger was a MONSTER indeed! HUGE! It looked promising but we ordered ours well done (hello? I'm pregnant!) and we pretty much got it rare. Soooo pink in the middle it was almost gross, even if you liked it medium rare, it was wayy pink! There was no way I could eat it. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/me-so-hungry-san-francisco?select=wRhtEfnYkJ68L9URt9nuIg#JwZ9f4fKqeNBiAhq09B0Sw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/me-so-hungry-san-francisco?select=wRhtEfnYkJ68L9URt9nuIg#wRhtEfnYkJ68L9URt9nuIg SHOE STRING FRENCH FRIES: Really? Shoe string? Look how thick those fries are! Mind you, they are up against a MONSTER BURGER but those are steak fries people! SWEET POTATO FRIES seasoned with Garlic and Parmesan & Parsley: You can't really mess up sweet potato fries and I'm so glad they didn't. It was the best thing that came off that truck. Good flavors and wasn't sopping in grease. THESE fries were cut thin. How'd they go from shoe string sweet potato to shoe-string/steak fries? These were the best thing that came off that truck. I'm glad I got to experience their truck but I wasn't impressed if the best thing that came off it was the Sweet Potato fries following by the KTM Slider. It's a little discerning when you ask for a well-done burger and get something not even remotely close (I said 'Well-done" please, not "Mooing"). I don't think I would hit them up again but if someone around me ordered from their truck, I would take a bite to see if they can redeem themselves but this one is a definite pass.

    Did the slider sampler!
    Erik H.

Took the sampler slider and glad I did. The slider orders come in 2a but the sampler was in 3s. If I had to rank them, I'd go with the Hawaiian chicken then the shirt rub and then the cali slider. I preferred the first two and wont be going for the Cali. It was just like a cheeseburger for me. Good but nothing special for me. Food was quick. Get the sweet potato fries or the onion rings

    Flyin' Hawaiian & Cali

When Me So Hungry pulled into Off the Grid at UN Plaza, its Pink & Black truck definitely stood out among the company. I opted for the slider sampler platter for $11 and my tastebuds were more than happy. The Cali Slider features angus beef with smoked applewood bacon, balsamic sauteed onions, and gorgonzola cheese. I found my beef patty a little dry, but the balsamic onions were to die for! The KTM features kahlua marinated short ribs, pepper jack cheese, crispy onions and a spicy creme fraiche sauce. The rib meat was juicy, but looked more like tiny pieces of beef rather than a solid, tender almost pulled pork style of meat. Either way, it was melt in your mouth goodness. The Flyin' Hawaiian features shredded chicken, crispy maui onions, and chipotle aioli. It was a mix of sweet, spicy, and tangy...so so SO GOOD. Needless to say, I was very satisfied.

I had Me So Hungry again today as they were parked outside of Bluxome Street Winery during their weekly friday event. This is now the third time I've given in to the flashy pink and black monster that is Me So Hungry. I almost always regret the gutbomb that ensues, but it is delicious all the same, provided you know which dishes are good, and which to pass on. The buns on all of their options are very good. Tasty and perfectly charred on the inside, this is one of the best parts about their food. The burgers, in my opinion, are not worth getting. While filling, not much stands out to me about them. The same goes for the cali slider, which uses the same patties. The hawaiian sliders are very poor as well. The only good part about these are the chipotle aioli and the buns. My favorite dish here is the KTM slider. The marinated short ribs are very tasty and soft. Together with the pepperjack cheese, crispy onion strings and creme fraiche sauce, this just melts in your mouth. I order this every time now. Their parmesan sweet potato fries are a nice side dish to go with the KTM sliders. It also uses the creme fraiche sauce as well as parmesan and parsley. Since it is sweet potato instead of regular fries it is slightly more health as well, although not much. Overall this is one of the better trucks out there, although it is somewhat pricey.

The Duke Burger (Angus Beef, Smoked Applewood Bacon, Spring Mix. Onion Rings, BBQ Sauce, Cheese Bread). $12
    John W.

Usually not a fan of the ""BBQ"" burger style but THE DUKE was the best burger I had in awhile. The fries that came with were very good as well. Garlic, hot, and crispy on the outside. The Duke Burger (Angus Beef, Smoked Applewood Bacon, Spring Mix. Onion Rings, BBQ Sauce, Cheese Bread). Tip: Find them on the BAREBOTTLE BREWING CO. scheduled food truck calendar ( I caught them on a Sunday) for a place to sit and a great beer tap room for a cold one. Bring your burger inside, that's what the trucks are there for. Service was phenomenal. If it's your first time, look for Eileen. Cute red head with lots a knowledge, glowing personality and eager to show you the ropes. Sampling before you buy is encouraged, as Eileen explains it, they are the Baskin Robbins of Beer.

Two Cali (Beef) Sliders & One Flyin' Hawaiian (Chicken) Slider ($12.50). Free Garlic Parm Fries if you check-in on Yelp.

Where are all these 5 star reviews coming from?!?!? Oh yah: http://bit.ly/16f0nKs (It was a picture from the business offering Yelpers a free meal in exchange for a 5 star review but "someone" flagged it and it got removed.) Perhaps Yelpers should start using their "elite" status to get free drinks/meals at other joints. I sure as hell wouldn't be broke anymore... *Woot* OTHER NOTES: *Ridiculously long wait for sliders. Female cashier wasn't friendly. --It shouldn't take over 20 minutes to cook small, thin patties. Friends who ordered food from other trucks, got their food, ate theirs and our order was still not ready. *Only two sliders available at SoMa StrEat Food Park last week (sold out of KTM: Short Rib): http://bit.ly/1aSTBev --Cali Slider: Angus Beef w/ Gorgonzola & Bacon (2 for $8) --Flyin' Hawaiian Slider: Pulled Chicken w/ Chipotle Aioli & Maui Onions (2 for $8) *Free Garlic Parmesan Fries if you check-in on Yelp (regularly $4). Thank goodness they were free because they were neither garlicky or cheesy; just super salty. *Sliders were nothing special and mediocre at best. They were also deceivingly larger than they actually were (mainly bread). --Cali Slider was overcooked (well-done) and dry. Didn't taste much gorgonzola but bacon was nicely crisp. --Flyin' Hawaiian Slider was gross. Dry, pulled chicken mixed with something that tasted like Thai sweet chili sauce used for dipping egg rolls; it was just way too sweet. Where were the maui onions? =( *3 generous stars but minus 1 star for offering Yelpers a free meal in exchange for a 5 star review. Shady.

Me So Hungry? Um yeah I'm still so hungry, considering they're usually out of half their menu offerings. They specialize in sliders and they don't come cheaply. $16 got me a couple KTM sliders which were missing the advertised pepper jack cheese (seriously?) and a pile of underachieving parmesan garlic fries. And whether I arrive at 6pm or 10pm, they're always out of the banana creme buns... time to remove them from the menu permanently, perhaps? The sliders are certainly tasty, but the sloppy assembly and cavalier staff attitude add up to a no bueno for me. Skip it.

    Cali sliders

Lets face it - most sliders suck! They were never meant to be taken seriously. If you wanted a burger, you would order a burger! 2/10 sliders i've had in my life are probably worth mentioning, but they always use special toppings. Slowly roasted duck or pork on anything taste good, but here at "Me So Hungry" - which probably comes from the original phrase "Me so horny" {Pause for laughter}. The cali sliders was a perfect blend of meat and cheese. Ill admit that the patty were on the thinner side, but i'm fine with that. The thick bacon and cheese added a nice touch to it. I wish they offered it in a normal size burger. LIke offer two sizes - slider and burger size. I eat fast, so it took me a total of 8 bites to finish both sliders. The Free parmesan fries did not impress me at all tho. Although they were perfectly cooked, it was a unbalance taste of lots of garlic on some fries and a hit of cheese on the other fries. I would just get normal fries. All in all - I'm a fan. If i saw this truck again i would go back if i was craving for burgers!

Veggie slider and sweet potato fries
    Ellen L.

***3.5 stars*** i checked out this food truck when i visited the palo alto edition of moveable feast a few months ago. for me, the big selling point was the sweet potato fries, since i'm a sucker for these slightly sweet, yet salty munchies. my sweet potato fries came out hot, crispy and were garnished with parmesan cheese, garlic, and parsley. this was a good size portion for $4. they were delicious, and gone in a matter of minutes! i also ordered the veggie slider, which was tasty, but on the small side, and certainly not worth the $4 that i paid. overall, an above average experience, but i wouldn't be running back here anytime soon, unless i had a serious craving for sweet potato fries! note that credit card transactions are only accepted for purchases over $5, so if you're just getting 1 item, be sure to have cash on you!

    Brioche Donut with Bacon crumble
    Jason S.

I had the slider sampler, sweet potato fries and brioche donuts with bacon crumble(chef special). The donuts weren't too special. The sweet potato fries were really good, especially with the spicy creme fraiche sauce. It was a nice take on classic sweet potato fries. The sliders were where the meal really stood out: First of all, the bread is amazing. They are brioche, so they are very tender and moist. The Cali Sliders were good, but pretty standard bacon hamburger stuff. The KTM and Flyin' Hawaiian sliders on the other hand were outstanding. So moist and flavorful. Great combination of flavors.

Between the location and the aesthetic, I was excited to see what the hype was about. My friend and I ordered the turmeric golden latte and the butterfly pea latte from the "botanical + herbal" section. Both drinks looked beautiful, but they tasted surprisingly thin and pretty flavorless. There wasn't much depth or richness, and we were confused because we expected a latte-style drink to include espresso. After asking the barista, we learned that the botanical + herbal drinks don't come with coffee or espresso at all. That wasn't clearly indicated, and the word "latte" definitely led us to assume otherwise. To their credit, the barista was kind and offered to add an espresso shot to my drink once I mentioned the confusion. After the addition, it tasted significantly better and finally had some body. I just don't understand why that wouldn't be the default or at least clearly labeled on the menu. The concept and setting are appealing, but the experience itself felt underwhelming.

What's better than the ocean/beach and tacos?!?…read more I've been a super fan of Leo's tacos since my LA days, and when Leo brought one of his food trucks up to the Bay Area, it was inevitable that I would try out the tacos! The Leo's taco truck literally is located in San Francisco/Ocean Beach with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Leo's taco trucks are known in Southern California as THE taco truck for reasonably priced street tacos, that are beyond delicious. The experience at the San Francisco/Ocean Beach taco truck was great. For the most part it mirrors the LA experience, which is exactly what I wanted. It's like having a piece of home. Menu prices are nonexistent so there's no way to determine exactly what you're going to be charged. I ordered two Al pastor tacos, and was charged seven dollars which included tax. I really like that they always include a piece of pineapple with the Al Pastor. The tacos were absolutely yummy. The meat was flavorful, but definitely not as juicy as the LA version. Plus, they don't seem to be as generous with meat at this location as they are in LA. The talk of themselves are not the traditional small street tacos, and yet they're smaller than the traditional sized tacos. They do provide bagged condiments that include sauces and radish. I was super hesitant to try them because of some of the other reviews. Tasty tacos, and if you've ever been to Leo's, and you, in this part of the Bay Area, it's definitely worth a stop.
