I went there with a friend of mine for the first time last Friday. HOLEY MOLEY I was flat flabbergasted at how good it was! The brisket was plastic-fork-tender and had a deep smoke ring, moist and juicy, delicious. As good as the best I have ever had. The pork ribs were again extra-excellent. I have two favorite places for ribs - oh no - now I have three favorite places for ribs. AND the jalapeno sausage was the best I have had in this area. There is a place near Weatherford Texas that has screamin' good jalapeno sausage. MPBBQ may be better. I will have to experiment with this. I tried some of the BBQ sauce just to see how it was, as I am a no-sauce eater if the meat deserves it, and was pleased that the sauce was really flavorful. I thought it might be a little thin when I was putting it on, but then when eating it, it was actually just fine. Some places have a sauce as thick as the "wait-for-it" ketchup, some have real runny. This was in the middle and was fine and tasty. I ate half my brisket with sauce and half without. Loved it both ways. The green beans were good, the potato salad was great! Did my mom make it? I don't think so, but kudos - it was exactly what potato salad should be, IMHO. A couple of slices of bread to sop up the juicy leftover juicy-ness might have been good, but is no biggy. I resisted the temptation to lick the paper clean, but if I was at home, maybe not... ;-) Since I got the three-meat plate, I didn't get a dessert. That was probably a mistake. Next time... and there will be a next time. I'm probably going to work my way through the whole menu in the coming year. Yeah, that's the ticket! read more

So it's been 9 months since my last review of Meating Place and the restaurant has moved, but the food is still phenomenal! It's a longer drive for us now but so worth it. The new location is really nice with some fun decor and a relaxed atmosphere. The people are still super friendly and the owner/manager (maybe both??) came around to every table to visit and ensure everyone was enjoying the food. I had the baked potato with sliced beef this time. The hubs stuck with the burrito but swapped the shredded beef for pulled pork. Everything was really tasty. Brisket - Lean = plenty juicy not dried at all, with an excellent thick dark crust. No sauce should be used on this BBQ. This is right in the discussion with Corkscrew's brisket in Old Town Spring as among the very best our area has to offer. Corkscrew is time tested consistency over time, and hopefully I will be able to say the same for this Brisket over time too...we'll see. Consistency and high quality over time is what sets great BBQ apart from all the rest. Things looking (tasting pretty good so far) Brisket: Contrary to popular opinion I don't believe that you need to have fat and blubber all in your meat to have good brisket. This meal today was proof of that. 5-stars. Ribs: I came in specifically to try their Beef Dino Ribs but that didn't happen for some reason. So, I went ahead and grabbed a few Pork Ribs. They were really good. For me, really reall good. 4 out of 5. Pulled Pork: Here's where I'm kinda stingy with my stars not because it's not good, but because it's just good. Perhaps a little on the dry side. It's the only thing I did actually squirt some sauce on. I'm sure a pulled pork sandwich would be really good, but I just got the meat this time. For me, it was aight. I think it's pretty hard to screw up pulled pork so the expectation of good is always there. To me this was a 3.5 The thing is, I come to BBQ places for the smoked meats not the stuff I can do just as well in the crock pot at home. The pulled pork is satisfying, but if you're in doubt get the brisket and maybe a couple ribs if you're hungry. Pecan Pie: I don't usually partake, but the lady said it was the best pecan pie she ever had so... My take is I'd agree if there was a little less crust. The filling was a 5 out of 5 and the crust is a 3 so I'll split the difference and give the pecan pie a 4. The owner said they wanted my "honest assessment" from a guy who's judged competition BBQ and that's just what this is. Nicely done place, great personality. Parking could be a PIA depending on when you come. Definitely on the "will be back" list. read more

And, given how much prices have gone up on everything the last few years, they are reasonably priced. You won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this place for decent BBQ. This place was great!! Brisket was so tender and Smokey, ribs falling off the bone and Jalapeño sausage was great. Chopped beef sandwich and baked potato was really good and generous meat. The brisket quesadilla was also very good. I really like a vinegar based Cole slaw and theirs was perfect and I also thought their green beans were so much better than most places generic green beans. Our group of 10 arrived for dinner and really enjoyed our experience. We ordered our food at the counter and our food was brought to our table quickly after. The brisket was delicious and very tender; however the jalapeño sausage was just ok. It was a bit chewy, but not terrible. The sides (potato salad, corn, and green beans) were delicious and the entire group enjoyed their meals and the ambiance of the restaurant. So very disappointed. A lot of hype and good reviews but it was an absolute let down. The brisket was dry and chewy, even the fat was dry! The meat was cut very thin which is an old trick to serve dry meat. We got two sides and both were awful. The mac and cheese was cold, not room temperature but COLD! The beans were straight from a can with a few chunks of dry meat thrown in, likely to moisten the meat. On to the BBQ sauce. This sauce, I had tasted before. It's the same sauce used at my church annual BBQ. I have also seen it at restaurant depot. This stuff runs like $3 a gallon. All they did was pour it in to a squirt bottle. Am I sure about that? No, but I'd be willing to bet a few dollars. All in all, save your money. Ruby's has better BBQ. read more

I've tried working my way through the menu over the last few weeks but the brisket and key lime pie are so amazing that it's hard to pick other things! Some commenters are complaining about the sauce, but the meat is so tender and packed with flavor that I don't use the sauce at all! This is my fav place for BBQ. Brisket was so cooked perfectly -- tender and wonderful! One of my favorite things was the BBQ SAUCE! Oh my gosh, it's sooooo good with just the right amount of a little kick. The potato salad was on point! We are new to the Magnolia area and received a flyer for The Meeting Place. We decided to try it out. Their stuffed BBQ potatoes are fantastic. On Friday's they offer frito pie that is covered with chopped beef...my fiancé loves this!! We were in town for our daughters wedding. Most of the out of town guests were staying in Tomball. The bridesmaids luncheon was up the road and i needed to find a place for the guys to get lunch. I found this place because of its convenient location but I was blown away by the brisket! We had about 12 guys, including a North Carolina BBQ expert. The local guys now have a new favorite spot. Driver an hour out of my way to come here only to find out they actually close at 8 not at 9, mind you when i drive a part at 740 the open sign was on and all was good but i had to go drop off some dog food got a family in need. When i drive back to them the lights are on and there are customers inside but the doors are locked. The website, as well as yelp and Google maps all day that they close st 9pm.. however they were all locked up at 8:15pm i have been craving their bbq for over 6 weeks and now finally get to get it and they are closed. I have referred so many people over there and i go on and on about the place however... Keeping your hours correct on all your social is very important.
