I refuse to come back to this restaurant due to the rude staff and the worst service in the world. Had reservations way in advance and brought friends from out of town for a nice dinner. Turned out we were shoved into a little space up against a wall post squished by three other tables. Not only were we repeatedly bumped into, but our food came out extremely late, and our appetizers were served with our entrees. The point of us ordering appetizers is to have something to snack on while we wait. Frustated, disgusted and overall disappointed. I'll never go back. read more

We go there when we have a visitor and our employer pays for it. The waiters and the restaurant itself take themselves a bit too serious for what they really offer. The ambiance of this restaurant is great but the food is mediocre and it is very expensive. We had appetizers, pitcher of Sangria and couple of drinks which came out to be $160 for 4 people which is crazy. We had the falafel appetizer: three teeny, tiny pieces of falafel on a plate for $10. Literally, the falafel pieces were the size of a pickle. Plus, the service was very bad. We were not finished with our appetizers and the waitress gave us our check already. She just assumed that we were eating only appetizers not dinner but we were planning to eat dinner but she never even asked just assumed. We were kind of annoyed at that point and just left afterwards. The oysters!!! As someone who is very picky about oysters I must say they were the absolute best oysters I've ever had in my life!!! When I say order them even if you don't like oysters I assure you they are out of this world! Also had hummus, delicious, the meatless lasagna is outrageous as well as the homemade pasta with cabbage in it which sounds bizarre but is light and scrumptious. All cocktails were on point. The service was fast without feeling rushed. Will definitely be back. Side note -took us over 45 minutes to get the Uber to go there our reservations were at 6:30 we didn't arrive until 7:15 they sat us without a problem . I would just go for the appetizers/tapas here. Try the ceviche and octopus dishes. Both are very flavorful and fresh. The pumpkin ravioli is pretty good, too. I think he was harmless but I don't think others will understand his forcefulness and relative impatience (people take HOURS to eat dinner in Europe- let us do it too!) Also, One comment: "please be careful with my menus, they are expensive, leather you see, so please dont get them dirty while you eat the appetizers and are looking over the entree items..." As far as the food went, I LOVED the calamari appetizer... did not like the fish entrees... those who ordered pasta liked it Although I must say their kalamata olives hummus was tasty and their bread is enough dinner... I came here for a business dinner with two colleagues - we were extremely impressed by the exterior look and feel, especially since the place was located behind a fountain near Princeton campus's famed Palmer square. The exterior seating is also quite nice and the place attracts a good crowd towards the evening, but the food is OK given the price. For appetizers, we ordered the mezze sampler, which was quite awesome and 1.5 thumbs up (if half a hand existed). The calamari was very fresh but disappointingly NOT fried *womp* perhaps I didn't read this properly but the portions overall were a bit tiny given the price. The waiter gives out tons and tons of free bread with awesome herbed olive oil though, which was awesome. For the entree, one of my coworkers ordered this mahi mahi dish that honestly looked super tiny and seemed OK. I shared a paella with a coworker and it was also very OK for paella. The nice thing about this paella is that the waiter scoops it for you beforehand, which I've never seen done and saves you a lot of time. Overall being in Princeton this place is probably really awesome, but a tad (note: TAD) below par in terms of food given the price. Lovely place with nice ambiance.. and the bread with their special olive oil is gooood, except I always end up getting full on that. Order the griggs farm chicken if you don't know what to get--it never fails! They have something different every season to go with that... There's a bar-that I can't take advantage of, but it gets pretty full on weekends. Just make sure you don't get seated next to the bar if you want to have a conversation without screaming at each other... heh. read more

I had a really nice meal here. Started out with the Spanish octopus. Although the portion was super small, the octopus was cooked perfectly. The flavors were also great. For entree, we had paella for two. Although I was not a fan of the rice they used, this was also very tasty. The mussels were like butter. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake. This place has a pretty nice atmosphere - I only came here for brunch, so I can't speak to their other menus. They have a well-rounded brunch menu with typical breakfast items, sandwiches, and pastas. Their fried chicken sandwich is particularly good - I'm a sucker for a decent fried chicken sandwich, and Mediterra's was fresh, crisp, juicy, and paired with a tasty sauce and fixings. I'd give this place a 3.5, so I optioned up. The place is gorgeous, and service is excellent. We were there for a company dinner and were able to try most of the appetizers and a lot of the red sangria. Sangria: Mild, but good. I'm used to a more potent blend, but was thankful that it wasn't, as we were on company time. We had our own room in the back which was beautifully lit, warm and inviting. Bread basket: all were perfect. We alternated between the baguettes and italian bread slices, but also loved the crostini. Charcuterie plate: Yummy, although the meat slices were odd. The chorizo should have been in smaller cuts (the ones we had were 1"x10" slices) and the jamon was too thick--as it's drier than prosciutto, it really has to be sliced ultra thin. Appetizer salad: this had fennel, blue cheese, figs, and a few other items. No one touched it until the others were gone, but then we devoured it. Hummus/spreads plate: one of the other guests mentioned that it was the best hummus he had ever had. The olives on all of the plates were excellent. Pork rilette: shredded pork-confit served with crostini which was divine. Terribly rich, but oh so good. Then the mini casserole with chickpeas (garbanzo beans), duck, and a few other tastes--rich and lovely. My husband ordered the whole red snapper and was offered with or without head and tail; he got it with both, but it was served de-boned. It was so perfectly cooked that we were surprised that the fingerling potatoes it sat on were under cooked. If you are adventurous, try the tip of the fins or tail--it's nice. Crunchy and flavourful. Just don't go too far, as then it's just indigestible bones. I opted for the Pinchos and Oysters. The oysters were salty. Not saline or buttery, just salty. It tasted as though they salted them, which is so unnecessary and was a bit much for me. The mignonette was a bit too sweet also. The pinchos were the most beautiful I had ever seen--served on knotted bamboo skewers. The shrimp--abolutely perfect, and with a mild tang from the balsamic vinagre. The beef--incredible. The Griggs chicken? Tough and dry. I was disappointed, as I had wanted to try the chicken from the various Griggs farms/town/boroughs etc. The dining experience was professional and even, even with a few disappointments. All 12 of us were served at the same time with hot food. When drinks were needed, it took no more than 5-8 minutes. Presentation was amazing--everything looked so pretty, as though it was prepared for a photo shoot. So yes, although I adore barbeque and fisherman's platters served on styrofoam (wish it were paper), I too can be swayed by picture perfect servings, yummy food, and excellent service. The restaurant has a great feel to it, inside and out- it reminded us of dining in a plaza in sunny Florida. The service was quite attentive, as everything we needed was accommodated promptly. The food was good, however I concur with some of the past reviews, that the portion sizes in relation to the cost could be bigger. I also feel some of the items were under-seasoned- specifically my duck confit paella. My wife's salmon had a nice sear on it, but we found it a little under-seasoned as well. Went out with LW and my dad for late night happy hour tapas at 9:30pm and food was great but had some issues. The bar was full and there was 3 sitting tables in which 2 were empty and I asked the host (Dylan) if we can sit there and he asked the manager (Sarah) and she said NO it was not for happy hour guests but dinner service only (dinner closes at 10pm on Tuesday). So we sat awkwardly on the corner with my chair sticking out on the side. The wait was a bit long 10 mins to order our drinks as I was told by my server that there was a glitch in the computer system but I told him it's okay, since it was suppose to be happy hour and we were not in a rush. I noticed that the menu may have changed from the last time we were there (about a month ago) and prices and some of the food has been changed. The waiter said that the $7 wine will apply to any wines that are $10 or less. In the white there were about 3 and the reds I just saw 1 which I in which there were 3 last month. Anyways, we ordered the Yukon potatoes, Prosciutto w squash, chicken wings, fried empanadas and salmon tartar which were all good and surprisingly at $2 per dish. Now as we were eating the couple who were sitting at the table (that was destined for dinner service) ordered tapas! There were some people who were at the bar earlier and sat on the other table (destined for food) also ordered tapas! I was like wtf ? Now i'm always about fairness but this to me didn't seem fair at all. I asked for the manager and she came like 15 mins later and asked if everything was okay and I said no. I explained to her what I saw and I felt that it didn't seem fair (see it in my shoes). She apologized and said that that table may have sneaked in and she didn't see??? say what ?? For me my Happy Hour was turning to Grumpy Hour. We finished our drinks and food and asked for the bill. I noticed that she comped us for some of the wine and food under "goodwill" which made me feel better as she seemed to valued our business and I felt that I should come back and give them another chance. The décor is quite nice, and the service is polished, but the fare is middling. Prices are rather high, but about par for the course given its central location on Palmer Square. I ordered the seafood paella, which is only available if at least two orders are made. At $24 a person, the amount of seafood is rather sparse, and the rice isn't cooked for nearly long enough. The entire dish had a rather gritty taste to it, and instead of being moist and fluffy, each grain of rice was cooked to only about 75% completion. Ceasar salad was mediocre, though the shavings of real cheese were admittedly nice. Dessert menu was expensive and featured a 'bent spoon trio' - something you can get cheaper at the ACTUAL bent spoon creamery down the street. read more

I've been to Mediterra several times now, as I live in the area, and it's always an enjoyable experience. The service is always great, and everyone knows that service can make or break a restaurant experience. The food at Mediterra is fresh 100% of the time. The bread that is placed on every table comes from the company's own bakery, just a short distance away. The best thing about this place? The SANGRIA. I love it! I've brought my mother, a self-proclaimed sangria snob, to Mediterra, and she couldn't get enough either. I recommend Mediterra to anyone looking for a good place to eat in Princeton. read more

I've been to both the tavern side and restaurant section and had great experiences at both! If you decide to do tapas at the tavern, MUST MUST get the bacon wrapped dates! You only get 5 and it's small so it's a bit expensive if it's not happy hour. But you can also get the tavern menu selections in the restaurant section. If you decide to sit at the restaurant, ask for Patrick! (He said he only works Sundays, but he's the best!) The wine menu is big so if you want great wine pairings, he's your guy! He should teach wine tasting classes or something. He has great knowledge for it. My boyfriend and I asked him so many questions. As for food, I got the pan seared duck breast, which was good, but I LOVED my boyfriend's grilled pork chop dish and those Brussels sprouts. They're flash fried so it's slightly crispy to perfection! We chose to come here for a late Valentine's Day dinner, and it was very disappointing. Service was OK, the food came within minutes after ordering, which is unsettling and creates for a rushed meal. Management was walking throughout the seating area which can be nice, but they seemed to know everyone dining there and were extremely loud in having conversations while standing right beside our table. Food, though, was extremely mediocre. Absolutely not worth the expense. Would not recommend, and would not go again. Very few GF or vegetarian options on top of it. read more

I used to like this restaurant a lot, as well as their bar, patio etc when we lived closer. However it feels like things have changed. Regular staff is still generally very friendly, but the manager/owner seem to have lost their sense of customer service in comparison to a few years ago. We always seem to have issues if we want to get a drink on the patio (outside of busy dinner hours) - which we don't do/ask unless we are a lot of empty tables, and are well before or after dinner peak hours... we know they're a popular place to dine. It always feels 'difficult' to accommodate, we don't feel welcome, and often feel as if they're just trying to get rid of us, while it could be considered quick revenue on an otherwise empty table. I will reconsider coming here - I know they treat their regulars very well and friendly, but if you're not a regular (or not any more) you don't seem to get the same treatment from the folks in charge. There are other nice patios or bars in the area where they do appreciate any and all customers. read more

This restaurant is located in a beautiful part of town(right in the heart!). There is a fountain out front and lots of people strolling/mingling so you can't miss it. I've gone here for lunch and it was on my list for a very long time. They have a wide assortment of wines and a good cheese plate as well. This is a great place to bring a date. It's whimsical beautifully decorated. Stop by at Halo Pub, which is right down the block for dessert after. See if you can request a cozier table(some of the tables are a little to close to the neighboring party). read more

I recently reviewed Teresa Caffe, which, as I mentioned in that review, Is also a part of the Terra Momo Restaurant Group. Since I love the Terra Momo Restaurant Group, I naturally love Mediterra. Is it as good as EnoTerra for the price? No. But the food is more Spanish in nature than the rustic Italian experience at EnoTerra. But anyway, now I'll actually talk about Mediterra. First off, it's in a very cool location, with an awesome fountain out front and a very cool cellar-like interior. That being said the wine selection is huge, but overpriced. They have a good selection of Meze-style samplers to start and have a good variety of entrees. Very good service (at least in my experience). Something to look our for is their Paella night. You get a great deal and end up probably drinking a lot of grape juice (the fun kind, not Welch's). read more

Met friends without a reservation on a Saturday night there were no tables in the dining room but we were seated family-style at a large table in the bar. it was perfect; it was noisy enough that we did not hear the conversations next to us but not too noisy that we couldn't hear each other speak. the service was very attentive the waitress greeted us very happily and made some suggestions she suggested the mussels and also the apple fennel bruschetta; both were delicious I had the chicken cacciatore which was very good. it had a very woodsy taste with the wild mushrooms; wasn't too saucy. It was served with potatoes instead of pasta which I thought was a nice change. My husband and our friend split the Paella which was a very nice serving as well and they're also very delicious. we were too full for dessert but did have cappuccino and coffee which was very good. Way too salty! We had a group of 8 and I was shocked by the lack of attention we received from the wait staff. I sat for at least 15 minutes without a refill on my wine and he didn't check back to see how our entrees were until we were almost done eating. Our appetizers were great, including the calamari, octopus, empanadas, bruschetta, and tuna ceviche. I ordered the salmon with spinach for my entree, the spinach was completely inedible, all I tasted was salt. This is a beautiful restaurant. I nice mix of different types of food. For an upscale restaurant they are always very welcoming to my family. My wife and I take our 4 year old son here sometimes and even if it's a set menu for a holiday they make him whatever he wants. Once he got the idea and asked for a Caesar salad and we didn't get a chance to flag down the waiter to make sure it was just a regular salad and my son was freaked out by the anchovies. They came and took it away and didn't even charge us. The food here is always fantastic. I'm a big fan of the paella. The wine list and cocktails are top notch as well. read more

Stopped by last night for dinner for the first time. The ambience of a restaurant really has a significant impact on my ability to enjoy it. We sat in the bar taverna area and it was a great space: really casual and comfortable and you felt like you had been transported to Barcelona. It was crowded but not to noisy so it was extremely easy to have a conversation. We started with 2 appetizers: grilled octopus and the ceviche. The octopus had a that nice grill/sear on it which I always like. As far the ceviche I liked it but did not love it. I said it was a little too oily and my wife said it needed citrus. I think we were both saying the same thing just coming at it from a different angle. The entree course was wonderful. I am not much of a paella fan but I might have just been turned into one. You should definitely order it when you go. read more

I first visited Mediterra when it opened in 1996, and have a fond memory of a great meal and lots of sangria. I was back last night after visiting a local winery. I was so happy to see that the place is as wonderful as I remembered with a great location on charming Palmer Square in Princeton. We arrived on time for our reservation for a spot on the patio. The very gracious hostess let us know that they were running about 15 minutes behind, but would sit us immediately inside if we preferred. We opted to wait at the bar and were greeted immediately by a very friendly bartender. I opted for the red sangria (they offer red, white or sparkling) and it was as delicious as I remember. My date had a mojito which I tried, and it was easily the best I've ever tasted! Our table was ready a few minutes later and the bartender graciously cashed us out quickly. Great first impressions and much appreciated. On to the food. They brought over a generous bread basket with various choices and herbed oil for dipping which was yummy. We ordered oysters to start which were served with a generous amount of cocktail sauce and mignonette, they were flavorful and delicious. For dinner we ordered the paella for two which was dished out by the waitress, we paired with a wonderful tempranillo by the glass. They also brought us more bread. The meal was not rushed at all, the timing was impeccable. It was just a really comfortable well paced meal. Our waitress, I'm sorry I've forgotten her name, was a real professional. She seemed to anticipate our needs, and was always close by to bring us anything we needed. I was truly impressed by how she managed to be attentive without being obtrusive. The prices were fair for the food quality and service especially for a special night out. We decided to skip the tempting desserts and head to The Halo Pub for ice cream & espresso. I've been eating at all the Momo Terra restaurants in Princeton for years and they have been consistently good. (Mediterra, Theresa's & Eno Terra). Got a last minute reservation last nt for 4 people on the busiest holiday weekend. What a nice suprise. Food was solid. Osso bucco excellent. Grilled calamari w/ real chickpeas, very nice. Octopus very good and the special Chicken saltimbocca was terrific. GREAT Italian wines by the glass and bottle. Enjoyed a fantastic Brunello di Montalcino and had the BEST olive oil cake I have ever had, better than Maialino in NYC. Chef, may I have the recipe please??????? Will be coming back to Mediterra. Went for dinner prior to the Princeton V. St. Cloud State game (hockey). They seated us right away, however worst table location, right next to the door, everyone passing by in the restaurant. Food was pricey, food was ok, not great, not bad just ok. Would I go back? Maybe, have to think about it. read more
