This simple little shopping-strip storefront right across from Piedmont Park sure doesn't seek to break any molds or win any prizes for originality--it has probably the most generic name that the owners could think of--but when we visited, it executed its basic aims very competently and inexpensively. For $6.85 you get a healthy-sized pita sandwich and a refreshing Greek salad, both with quality ingredients. My chicken kabob one had a generous portion of flavorful and nicely cooked marinated chicken. The wife had less complimentary things to say about her felafel, but otherwise enjoyed her meal, too. And after gorging ourselves on mostly artery-clogging sludge for the previous few days of our trip to Atlanta, this felt like a relative infusion of nutrition. For $10 and barely above, Mediterranean Grill also offers gigantic entree plates of Med standards like kofte, felafel, and kabobs, etc. No table service here: You both order and pick up at the counter. I thought it wasn't a chain restaurant at first but it actually is and I don't care because the food is amazing! We ordered the lamb shank and calamari. Calamari was awesome. For $8 it can feed qt least 3 people so I'm not going to say anything about the price. Taste waste, it's really good. The batter is crunchy and flavorful. It was served with marinara sauce which also taste great, but I like the spicy sauce they have with the lamb shank better. Lamb shank was also big. They served it with pita bread and salad and rice. First time here. I ordered a veggie sandwich and wanted to add shrimp to it. I was told no, so I ordered a side of shrimp($4 for 5 decent sized shrimp). I also ordered some Greek potatoes. There was one person in there dining in and eating and a couple who ordered to go right before me. It took almost 20min for my order but that's to be expected when food is made to order such as here. 2 people came in with call in orders and they still had to wait quite a bit. On to the deets...got home in 6-8min. The sandwich was on pita bread and so SOGGY!! It was beyond mushy...I was so looking forward to the pita bread which was now ruined. The veggies were SO thick that they didn't stand a chance in that mushy pita bread. So I had a sloppy mess. I basically had to pick up veggies and wrap them in the soggy pita bread. Did I mention soggy?? Could have used more seasoning. It came with tzatziki sauce and some spicy red sauce on the side that was good. The potatoes were good and they gave a large amount, more than enough to share. So would I return? Probably not. I'm a pescatarian until I go full blown vegan. They didn't have many seafood choices. My husband was on a fast so he didn't eat. He wants to try when he's off so if he finds something good then I'll try again. Other than that...count me out. read more

One of my favorite midtown gems! Nestled on the busy intersection of Piedmont and Monroe lies this incredibly affordable and flavorful Mediterranean restaurant. Their business lunch special is amazing. For under nine dollars you get a drink, greek salad, tons of rice, pita bread, all served with a generous portion of kofta, shish kebabs, and gyro meat. I always substitute the kofta for additional kebabs, and Greek salad for tabbouleh, at no additional charge because I love the different flavors. It's not a huge restaurant and booths go fast, but the wait is always worth it. read more

We ordered food to be delivered to my office. The online ordering is nice, but if you make a mistake, it is hard to delete the item. I had added a note to each order with the person's name who had placed the order. When I called to confirm receipt of the order, the person was in shock that I ordered online. Since i called 1.5 hours before our food was to be delivered, I am impressed that they got the order correct and delivered in a timely fashion. Great food! Fatoush Salad and Hummus are great appetizers. Good seasoning, not oily and certainly different than packaged humus dips. Shish Kabobs and falafels are great. Nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. The meat wasn't tough or dry. Texture was good, seasoning wasn't over powering, and you could taste the freshness. The food is halaal and they also deliver. This was the site of my most recent team lunch. It is the first Mediterranean restaurant we have tried and I'm glad we 'discovered' this jewel. I opted for the business lunch special which is by far the best combo bargain I have ever had. It comes with gyro slices, shish kabob, kufta kabob, yellow rice, salad, pita and drink for the low low price of $6.49. Yep you read that right $6.49. I grew up with mediterranean food, and this is good stuff. I hadn't been super impressed with the assortment of affordable med. food in Atlanta, and then I got carry out from here. I've had it a couple of times now and it's truly delicious. The lamb shank is AMAZING. I've had the chicken kebob as well which was tasty, but not quite as good as the lamb shank. All of the food is really fresh, with really nice size servings, sides, and options for sauces, etc. They forgot to include one of the sauces I had requested with my carry out, but what they gave otherwise was plenty - and delicious. It's at a great location, too. Highly recommend the lunch specials - they're an excellent bargain for some really awesome mediterranean food! read more

I was excited to try this place after all the positive reviews. I might have caught them on a bad day as I only thought my meal was ok... I ordered the gyro platter after reading reviews. My gyro meat came out more on the dry side and didn't have that deep lamb flavor Im used to. I was also sad that the platter didn't come with hummus (although later I learned its only like $1 extra to add it). The portions are nice though. I ate it all and felt pretty comfortably full. Would include a financial advisor do to the price of the grocery bill for said "binge eating" crisis but the price is better than just right, plenty of valve with the amount of food received to price paid. We ordered dinner tonight for my husband and myself. We have never tried this place but we like Mediterranean food so we gave it a shot. It was disappointing to say the least. We both ordered the chicken kabob dinner. The chicken was dry and tasteless. The salad dressing that came with the salad was basically red vinegar with some spices. 1st of all I'm under the impression that it's a good sign when you see employees of restaurants eating the food of the establishment. So when I walked in to Mediterranean Grill and saw an employee, on break, eating the establishment's food, I was pleasantly surprised. The cashier was nice and friendly. The 4 stars is due to the fact that I've only been here once and can only attest to the large Greek salad with grilled chicken. Would've been perfect had the salad come with cucumbers and a creamy feta based salad dressing. Instead, it came with a ho-hum red wine vinegar +seasoning dressing. A plus is that the restaurant does not charge for extra tzatziki sauce. Oh, on my way out, a different employee, had just finished his plate of Mediterranean Grill food as well. read more

I've been to this place four times in the last week. If you want something with quality ingredients that won't take forever, it's basically this or Chipotle. They cook the food to order; it's not one of those joints that leaves the chicken festering in a hotel pan six hours past lunch. Mediterranean Grill makes it fresh. Their combination plates are a good deal. They gyro meat is spicy and delicate. The kufta is full-bodied and rich. Best of all is the shish kebab: a tasty steak you can get for cheap. Watch out for the hot sauce, though. Even if you like spicy food, you're going to be remembering this four hours later. And not for the right reason. The best part of all is the soundtrack. I think that a foreign-language Suge Knight is shipping CDs straight to them from overseas. read more

There are times that I go through my Male PMS (I like to call it my E-phases...you'll have to ask me about it!) and one of the phases is hungr-E which is pretty much food cravings! The steak was very lean and marinated perfectly and the hummus was oh so good! They have a large selection of items that you can get either as a plate (comes with Greek salad and rice) or as a sandwich (can get chips, salad, or potatoes). As an alleged hipster, loving on a place like The Mediterranean Grill is tantamount to admitting I DVR Dancing with the Stars. Which, for the record, I don't do. Anymore at least. Hey, my wife made me record it! I feel your judging eyes on me, staring, unblinkingly, judging. OK, fine, I once watched an entire season of DWTS (that's what the fans call it) because I wanted to see how good a dancer Emmitt Smith was. I did that. I'll cop to it, just like I'll cop to eating at TMG. It's not the best Mediterranean food in town, but it's by far not the worst, especially when you factor in the price. In fact, when I used to live in the Poncey Highlands, I used to drive to Emory to partake. Then I moved from the Poncey Highlands and they opened a store off of Monroe to prove that I continue to live my life like some half-assed O. Henry story. The gyro meat isn't as good as Nick's To Go. It can be dry sometimes. However, the kabob meat has never disappointed me and that applies to both the shish and the kufta. It's some good stuff and comes as part of the "business lunch combo." At less than $7, it's a good deal. (By the way, I seem to remember them calling this combo the far less politically correct "businessman lunch combo." Now either they changed the name or I'm imagining it wrong, which may say more about me than anything else.) Anyway, this place isn't perfect. The rice could use some work. It tastes waxy. Oh and TMG has counter service or as they say in the biz, "fast casual." Now I wouldn't call it "fast" per se. Sometimes they are, other times it's more like "bring a good book casual." Interestingly, they're usually faster when they're backed up. I think the guys at the grill need the visual of tons of waiting people to kick it into gear. Despite some of these problems, I'm going to grant TMG a solid four stars especially for the kabobs. As I said, I like this place and it's a welcome respite to the many, many burgers I tend to consume. read more

We found our group of four sitting at home and ready for a less-than memorable dinner when, in unison, realized we desperately wanted falafel, hummus, and pita. Enter: Mediterranean Grill. We decided to just drive on over to place our order for takeout and we all seemed to order.... pretty much the exact same thing. Falafel, pita, hummus, potato harra, tabbouleh... I really loved the size of the falafel. They are sold individually and are a great thing to split among many. The hummus and pita were wonderful. The pita especially was nice and chewy and they serve a ton with an order. Also, if you've never had potato harra, you're missing out. Basically "home fries" with some wonderful paprika and herbs, garlic, sometimes onion powder, etc. The variety from Mediterranean Grill was just as wonderful. Once our order was on the counter, it was almost comical how much food we had ordered between the four of us. There were 4 bags total and all were packed to the brim with styrofoam boxes with food. Needless to say, we had leftovers. Delicious leftovers. One thing we all found really interesting was this little cup of, what looked to be, salsa in our order. I don't actually recall what it was precisely, but it was suuuuuper spicy and delicious. It actually worked really well with the hummus and pita. The service was super friendly and the guys behind the counter were really fun to chat with. Everything was stellar. Can't wait to head back for dine-in or another take-out order. read more

A year ago, my newly eloped husband and I threw a little "weddinged" party for friends and family at the bar/music venue where we met. To feed our hungry guests, we opted for something casual, inexpensive and different than your typical "chicken or steak?" wedding fare. The Mediterranean Grill was our choice - a perfect choice. We ordered pretty much some of everything they cater (which is pretty much everything they serve at their restaurants). The delivery was prompt, the delivery guy helped set up the food service, and the food was so excellent. Even my country in-laws, people who don't know kufta from a hole in the head chowed down heartily. The best part, however, was the ordering process, wherein the manager of the Midtown store walked me through the calculations necessary to get enough, but not too much, food for our 200 or so guests. I've loved this place since it opened in Midtown (even though it took the place of one of my favorite Italian Delis. Boo). I'd whole-heartedly recommend both eating here, and asking them to bring their food to you in mass quantities. read more

I've never actually eaten in the restaurant but get the food delivered frequently. It's one of the few places that delivers to our office in a timely fashion. We typically order from the restaurant itself as opposed to ordering through Zifty. It's cheaper and you save the delivery fee. The food is always good here. My favorite is the hummus and the chicken kabob plate. If you get delivery, you should remember to ask for pita to go along with the hummus.
