Extremely disappointing experience at Medium Rare. We spent around $200 and left frustrated by both the service and management. No one explained the restaurant concept to us. When we asked our waitress how big the steak was, she said 4oz but never mentioned the second serving, which would have cleared up a lot of confusion from the beginning. Then one of our beers arrived barely half full. When we mentioned it, the bartender came over and told us "that's how it's served." Paying $13 for what looked like maybe 6oz of beer was ridiculous. The worst part was the manager, Brian. We were not rude or causing a scene at all. After a simple comment about the beer, he came to our table unprompted and immediately started acting sarcastic and condescending. He mocked the way my boyfriend talks because he says "man" in conversation, and at one point even touched him during the interaction. It was uncomfortable, immature, and incredibly unprofessional. First time trying Medium Rare's prix fixe $35 brunch menu. Would advise you to make reservations on the weekends, they were not taking any walk-in's when I came around 2pm. I have eaten at Medium Rare when I worked in DC, and enjoyed it. So when I learned my home town of Dallas was getting a restaurant, I was pretty happy about it. All you can eat steak and frites, sounds great, right? I received the same experience and quality at this restaurant as I did in DC, and that makes me happy! We came later in the evening so it wasn't crowded, and that was nice. Our waitress was very good, and kept our drinks filled the whole time, and more steak and frites came out right on time, just as we finished our last bites from our first course. I have been to Medium Rare twice now and I would recommend it as a great dinner spot to go with friends. It's not ideal for a "steakhouse" type special occasion dinner but the prices are nowhere near a fancy steakhouses. The ambiance is a little loud with music and other people talking but not obnoxious. The menu is incredibly simple which in my opinion is one of the best parts of the dining experience. When you are seated the server asks you what you want to drink and how you want your steak cooked and that's it. The drinks come a few minutes after that then the salad a few min after the drinks and the steak and fries. The first time we went we were surprised they bring out a second portion of steak, fries and the sauce. If you're looking for a nice patio, good good and even better service, you're at the right spot! Made reservations and we were seated immediately. It was such a beautiful day that we sat outside. Our server Ray, was phenomenal. He explained the menu - yes $35 bottomless mimosas (or bloody Mary's and screw drivers) include your appetizer and dessert. Such a great deal!!! We went for brunch and enjoyed ourselves very much here. They have bottomless drinks, making it the perfect plan for a Sunday with your family or friends. The music is very modern and kind of party-ish. I would suggest changing the playlist to something more classic that fits the ambiance better. I unfortunately had an issue with the steak, hence the 4-star review. I was the only one from my group who ordered a medium steak; everyone else ordered medium well or well done. Went to this place NYE and the steak was very chewy and not as good. Haven't been back until brunch today, hoping the food would be as good as the first time I went about a year ago. No. Steak was still chewy and had to spit out a few pieces. Unlimited mimosas were fun, though! Manager stopped by our table to see how everything was at the end of our meal. I told him about the chewy steak. He got defensive and blamed ME for not telling anyone about the situation. He was a jerk. I didn't want a comp or anything as I managed to eat everything on my plate. I was simply letting him know at the end of our meal that it wasn't so good. And the service was very, very slow and inattentive. Nobody ever picked up my dirty, empty plate until the check came. That's a huge pet peeve of mine. Take the finished plates away! The vibe in this place is super fun with great music and decor, but if a place that ONLY sells steak frites can't deliver steak that melts in your mouth then there's a problem. Also - my sister doesn't drink, so she only ordered a Coke, but we were charged $4 for that. Yet my unlimited mimosas were included in the set price. Really strange.
