I have to say THANK YOU to MedVet and being there and so patient with all my questions about my lil girl. She was sick and I was frantic and I felt the care from the Dr on every call. They told me I was able to go home, but I choose to wait even if it was in the parking lot. They explained everything to me and also the prices. The Dr was very reassuring as to what she think and the possible ways the visit can go. I have never been to an emergency vet clinic and if I do have to go back I will be returning here. My lil girl is feeling better. They were able to give her blood panel work, xrays, send out for a second look and check her completely. They even let me know that she has not lost some of her baby teeth, so I should look into that. After talking to them and a few friends I did get pet insurance. I should have got it sooner. Nothing but good things to say about MedVet in Mountain View. Unfortunately, we have been there three times - never good to need an emergency veterinarian. However, each time we have been treated wonderfully, with empathy, fast service and very professionally. The first time we came here was at 11pm when our new dog ate a bowl of grapes (poison for dogs). MedVet had to give him medication to force him to throw up the grapes. They even showed us the photos to confirm how many grapes he ate. The second time was because our dog suddenly was coughing blood. We brought him in and unfortunately, we were told he needed to be seen by an oncologist for possible lung cancer. They were extremely empathetic and professional and referred us to a few local oncologists. Unfortunately, their diagnosis was correct and our wonderful dog passed away about four weeks later. This last visit was last night as our puppy had surgery and the staples were coming out of the incisions. Our veterinarian does not have emergency services so we went to MedVet. They confirmed that even though he had only had the surgery two days prior, his wound was healing nicely and although the staples had indeed come loose, the wound still looked clean and we were needlessly worried. Again, they were fast, professional and sympathetic. Special thank you to Ruby who was the vet tech how helped through the process and was super helpful and empathetic. Thank you MedVet! Don't bring your pets here if you want to get ripped off and possibly lose your pet. I took my small 3 year old dog here for bloody vomit and diarrhea. I was so concerned and willing to do anything to save my dog. At first they said to perform several x rays which showed nothing. They were assuming my dog had a stomach ulcer or just ate something that could possibly be stuck in her intestines. They told us to return in 8 hours to take another x ray to confirm if it's a foreign body and me freaking out, I went back and they told me that the radiologist confirmed a foreign body. They were pressuring me to get exploratory emergency surgery for my dog or she would be suffering but I felt like that wasn't the case as they didn't show me the x ray and didn't seem confident in their findings. My dog has had an obstruction surgery once in February and since then have been careful with my dog so I felt like this was very unlikely. I told them I couldn't pay 8-12k for an emergency surgery. They suggested I euthanize my dog so she doesn't suffer anymore and I told them no and took her somewhere else. Thank god I trusted my gut because a different vet confirmed there was no obstruction of any sort but a case of gastroenteritis. I can't believe medvet was making me feel bad about not putting my dog down or paying the surgery as it didn't seem necessary by the way they were explaining things to me. They did say an ultrasound would confirm if it was a foreign body but they didn't do that for my dog because I need to get a referral with a specialist first. I was not planning to wait days until I see a specialist for my dog because I can't bear seeing her in pain. Luckily my bf helped me find a different emergency vet in Marin county who had specialist on call and was able to save my dog. I'm absolutely horrified with the traumatic experience at medvet for suggesting euthanasia on my 3 year old dog. read more

Our 3 y/o Shih tzu choked on his kibble while he was eating and was visibly in distress with difficulty breathing and very rapid heart rate. We had no idea what dog CPR was or what to even do in that moment but my gut feeling said he needed to be seen by a professional ASAP or things could've ended badly. In this frantic moment searching up 24/7 vet clinics late at night, MedVet was the first one to appear and we didn't waste any time. My partner called them when we were 5 minutes away and told them our emergency so when we arrived there, the staff immediately took him in and was able to give him the best care. Dr. Scott-Cruz came into our exam room holding our Shih tzu with so much relief and some tears were shed. I brought my cat in due to a sudden change in behavior and eating less, which I suspected to be from an ear infection (I had recently adopted my cat and did not have a regular vet set up yet). I waited over an hour to see the vet and when she finally came in, I told her my suspicions about the ear infection. The vet then hastily looks in both ears (with no light) and says "Eh, a little gunky, but looks okay". She then does a full exam for my cat and cannot find anything wrong with her and asks if I would like to do some bloodwork. Since she couldn't give me any answers from physical exam, I opted to do the blood work. Fortunately she was transparent with pricing, but the labs came back remarkably normal and vet said "Sorry, not sure what's wrong". I am not a vet, so of course I trusted the vet's words at face value. So after 3 hours, unnecessary blood work, and paying $900, I left with no answers. Fast forward 3 months, my cat is still not eating well and behavior has not changed. I take my cat to her now regular vet and again tell her my concerns about the ear infection. The vet takes my cat back and says she has a SEVERE ear infection and was bleeding from the cleaning. She gave my cat a steroid shot and provided me with ear wash and antibiotic ear drops. Immediately after I started giving my cat ear drops, she goes back to being her normal self. I am beyond upset that the vet at MedVet Mountain View wrote off my concerns about the ear infection and did not even take the time to do a thorough examination of my cat's ears. Because of her lack of effort, my cat was in pain for over 3 months due to an ear infection that likely would not have been as severe if this vet actually did a good job. I will never bring my pets here again, or advise anyone I know to bring their pets here for emergency care. Thank you to the entire MedVet team for taking care of my pup, Eva, right before Thanksgiving. Special thank you to Dr. Lundhild and Dr. Nielsen for setting us on the right path to diagnosing my pup and thank you to Daisy for being so kind and patient with us. I live in San Diego and was visiting family for Thanksgiving week with my pup, Eva. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Eva's paw swelled up considerably and we took her to an urgent care veterinarian where we did x-rays that were inconclusive. They suspected possible joint fluid effusion and advised doing a joint tap, but didn't have available staff and referred us to MedVet in Mountain View, who had a surgeon that could see us the same day. We arrived and checked in at MedVet, and were seen by Dr. Lundhild within two hours of our arrival. This was pretty great, considering how many cases/patients were waiting in the lobby and I was thankful to be seen for an initial evaluation so quickly. Dr. Lundhild was very kind, thorough in her examination, and patient with us. She let us know that the surgeon, Dr. Nielsen, had a few other cases and would see Eva before she had to leave for the day. We went back out to wait in the car as we weren't sure how long the wait would be. They called us and let us know that they would take Eva back to be seen by the surgeon. A little while later, Dr. Lundhild personally came out to the parking lot to speak with me. She explained that Dr. Nielsen reviewed Eva's case and performed an exam, and that she was more concerned with a mass and recommended that we do a CT scan immediately. They did a fine needle aspirate of the mass and would provide results the following week. My heart dropped because my first thought was that it was cancer, and I broke down. Dr. Lundhild was very kind, caring, and encouraging during our entire interaction, and offered to fit us in for a consult next week, but I was due back in San Diego after Thanksgiving for work. Since then, Eva and I have seen specialists down in San Diego and she has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma. We are able to get her into surgery and start treatment to slow down the cancer. The specialist we saw in San Diego said that it was incredible and basically a miracle that the mass could even be felt (by Dr. Nielsen), and that it could have easily been mistaken as a soft tissue injury. If it weren't for our trip to MedVet and for Dr. Lundhild and Dr. Nielsen, Eva may not have been diagnosed with this type of cancer until it was too late to do anything. We arrived and I ran in letting them know my dog was in the car and not breathing. One of the guys ran out to the car and scooped up my 90 lb dog. They did CPR and then an ultrasound that showed a mass and blood all over Bailey's gut. She had bled out. We had no warning. We noticed something wrong and she was dead within 20 minutes. We have mixed feeling for MedVet Mountain View. Our cat suffered from IBD and got discharged after 2weeks this year. During the traumatizing hospitalization, 8 docs examined him and until today I don't know why it took 8 docs to get his diagnosis. The reason I said I have mixed feeling is mainly because the whole process triggered an episode of aspiration pneumonia and internal bleeding that got him to a life threatening blood transfusion. We cried every time we went to visit him. We felt pressured for lots of unnecessary tests. Needless to say, the bill was 33,000+ in total which include tons of tests. My fellow friends, It Is Not 3,000, it's 30,000+! We are lucky to have insurance to cover the cost. My heart breaks if this happen to other cats that are not covered by any insurance. Just imagine that, things could be totally different for our cat if we were educated enough to say no to some of the tests and brought him for second opinion. We do love all the technicians that extended their loving care to our cats during his stay. We sincerely hope for the best for all other pets. My male cat had an emergency visit Sunday, Nov 12th. Which was charged $400.00 for antibiotics and pain meds for a possible bladder infection or UTI. The following weekend it started back up again, so we took him In Saturday Nov 18th. Where i was charged another $100.00 for them to say it's nothing wrong. Sunday night, Nov 19th My cat is completely blocked and cannot urinate. So I bring him back where they advise me that I need to do a $6000.00 surgery to unblock him then have him stay over night 48 hours. I explained to the vet that I do not have $6000.00 for this PU surgery, she then tells me that it's absolutely necessary and he will block again. But if I don't have the money for that surgery then I can just have him unblocked and take him home to monitor. Then take him to my normal vet. She only sent me home with pain management meds and a prescription for C/D food and told me to start feeding him medication cat food. I took my cat Nov 22nd to my vet in Palo Alto to have a follow up. To explain that he was having spasms in his urethra/penis. I also explained how MedVet advised me that I had to have this PU surgery.. my actual vet in a Palo Alto told me that the only time they do that specific surgery is when a cat has been unblocked over 4 times. (This was the first time he's ever been unblocked) And I should have also been given sedative for his spasms. That those come after a catheter has been administered. I'm so disappointed, disgusted and enraged about my findings. I pray to God no one ever gets taken advantage of like they tried to do to myself. I make this long post to say, please be careful when going to this location. 3 different vets every visit, the last one being the worst. They made me feel as if I was a horrible person for not doing the $6000.00 surgery. All along it wasn't needed nor necessary. I've reached out to Medvet's corporate email twice and no response yet. My vet gave me 3 new prescriptions, a new antibiotic, a sedative for the spasms and another pain management. Sad how people can take advantage of others in there most desperate of times. read more

The vet, Alex Lundhild, never touched nor examined my dog. How strange that the receipt indicated that this person examined my dog. It did not happen - a vet tech took a heart rate and temperature, and that was it. I ended up taking my dog home, and provided medication on my own. After a $750 to $800 dollar estimate was provided, I left because my dog is so terribly anxious...they kept saying 5-10 minutes, which turned into 90 to 120 minutes, and I just could not stay. I'll take my dog to his regular vet on Monday if necessary. Just no - 5-10 minutes means 5-10 minutes, not two hours. read more

Our very senior dog had a nasty laceration on his tail. It was really hard to find a vet to take a look at it and treat it. Medvet is an emergency facility in Mountain View near the Target store. Medvet is very clean well laid out. We were there for about three hours because they triage the pets as they are admitted. It's not inexpensive but our dog was well treated and his tail is healing nicely. One tip! Take a warm jacket because the air conditioner is set to very cold. read more

Although MedVet MV was not able to accommodate the possible surgery needed for a possible flipped stomach, they were able to redirect me Sage vet for the care my dog would need. We rolled the dice on this MedVet after we abruptly left Sage due to their spotty communication (including their odd refusal to give any sort of opinion on a life-threatening issue without tests that would take days and impersonal email responses that felt like they were coming from bots) after our dog inhaled a toxic fungus that nearly killed her. She is gratefully still with us today because of MedVet's incredible responsiveness, fast and accurate diagnosis, expedited care for serious cases, surgical skill, personal communication, and caring bedside manner for pets and owners alike. These people love animals and it shines through. By no means cheap, but no worse than than the others. After calling 3-4 places regarding an emergency walk in visit for my dog, they were the only ones who were available. My dog had an eye infection so I came in on a Sunday morning. Obviously my dog was not critical, but I was willing to wait. They did a triage on my dog and I sat down. What stood out to me while I was waiting was how every employee was "ON IT!!!" In the very best way. Some things I saw. Someone walked in with a dog while a tech was taking out the garbage-the vet tech immediately put down the garbage and triaged the dog. The woman behind the desk dealt with a million calls professionally. The team was super helpful and nice with every visitor. An older gentlemen came in with a 17 year old dog that wasn't doing well. They treated him and the dog with more patience than I could muster on my best day. Very impressive!!! read more

I brought my beloved kitty, Bubby, to MedVet in Mountain View after discovering she had a huge mass on her left cheek. Deanna helped me through the admission process on the phone and she was so kind and helpful during this stressful time. Due to COVID, I was not allowed into the building, but the process was so easy. I parked in front, and a tech was able to meet Bubby and I by the entrance. I felt so confident in their care as I dropped Bubby off. It was a very busy day for them, but I was so surprised to get a call from Dr. Clare within an hour or so. She explained exactly what was going on, and assured me it was only an abscess and nothing worse. She explained there would be a small procedure, and let me know I didn't have to opt for any more expenses than necessary. I was so thrilled to hear this, and the procedure was 100% affordable. There was nothing on my bill that surprised me, everything made sense and was appropriately priced. Bubby was ready to go home within a few hours of dropping her off. She is now happily recovering at home with no complications whatsoever. I am so so thankful for the MedVet team, especially Deanna, who answered all of my questions, as well as Dr. Clare and her team for giving such great medical care to my dear Bubby. As a nurse, I understand how busy things can be behind the scenes, but the MedVet team truly did a great job in all aspects. Thank you thank you MedVet. Nobody likes dealing with pet emergencies, but I highly recommend MedVet in the unfortunate instance that your pet needs urgent care. The compassion and empathy of all their staff really stand out! Their staff is very professional, empathetic, and knowledgeable. We took our dog in since he was having some issues with his eye, and they helped extract a foxtail from inside his eye. They continued to be helpful over phone throughout the night once we had him home and resting. When we were worried about a potential flare-up late at night, they were very accommodating about bringing him in for a quick check-up. MedVet also called a few days after just to check in on his recovery and ask how his eye was looking. They also helped us diagnose some patellar issues that our dog was having and check for potential hip dysplasia, and explained things in a very understandable way! Thankfully it looks like both those issues are not going to be long-term concerns. All in all, I wholeheartedly and highly recommend MedVet if your pet needs care. read more

I came in with my pup last night (12/8/2022) around 9:30 pm after he was showing signs of lethargy out of nowhere. The woman at the front desk (whose name I know but won't mention) made our experience sour. I would've given this place a 5/5 had it not been for the unnecessary attitude. She seemed very indifferent to what was going on. Patients were checking in and out and it seemed like she just didn't care. Just had that deadbeat straight face on. A vet tech took my pup in as soon as we walked through the door to check his vitals, but I had to go up to the front to ask the woman about the check-in process when it's obvious she should have been clear about it from the start. Several of the patients that came in after me had to do the same. If we hadn't gone up to talk to her, we wouldn't have been able to check in, so we would have been waiting there for however long for no reason. We were in and out in less than three hours, which I think is pretty great for an emergency visit, considering that my dog wasn't considered Priority 1 Care (I completely understand). Lots of patients were coming in and out with lower priority reasons too, but I did notice a lot of people hanging around the receptionist area confused as to what to do. It wasn't just me. But here's the topper: We got checked in to an exam room within 1.5 hours of waiting (again, not too bad, I can't complain), and were seen immediately by the vet (who didn't introduce herself - but I liked her a lot, she seemed pretty thorough and attentive). The front desk then came in to give estimates, and all was going pretty well, but then she said under her breath, "There are so many of you guys tonight coming in just not watching what your pets eat" - really? What a top-of-the-line asshole remark to make to dog parents who had just brought their baby in to be seen. I had just explained to the vet that I had given him new dog treats recommended to us by our friend, and maybe he was having a tummy-ache due to it. Thanks for making us feel shitty about this - for deciding to bring our dog in to get checked. So inconsiderate. 2 stars for the good vet (thanks so much for being attentive), but 3 stars off for that super unnecessary comment. I get that it was late, around midnight, but hey, maybe consider switching to a different profession if your attitude is going to make people coming in feel like shit. read more

I wanted to give them less stars at first because the night we brought Oswald we wanted them to perform an emergency amputation of his tail. We would have paid the extra cost, but they wouldn't take personal checks and our Care credit was almost maxed out from a bad visit across the street to Alta View. They recognized that cost was an issue, and that it would financially strain us, so they give me a list of vets in the area, including Santa Clara animal hospital where the amputation ultimately took place the next day. However they were very kind, communicative, honest, and caring with Oswald. They also ended up helping us save about $400 by recommending us to a general veterinarian instead of doing it themselves at emergency prices. Oswald is fully healed now and we are grateful for the extra time they took to help us. read more

Both MedVet Campbell and Mountain View team did amazing jobs taking care of my cat Duang Duang, a 5-month old poor thing that suffers from abnormal and reoccurring urinary blockage. They really impressed me with the following things: 1) excellent team: very professional and responsible in a way of communicating and handing over tasks to each other so that every doctor is on the same page and knows my cat's condition. They are knowledgeable and trustworthy teams. 2) daily updates: Doctor will call and update me every morning and night about my cat's condition and discuss CT/ultrasound reports in detail. Im a inquisitive person with so many questions and they were all super patient answering all of them! 3) keep things within the budget: I've been to another hospital that overcharged me 10k for this issue. MedVet's invoice is much more reasonable. Doctors try to eliminate any unnecessary items while keeping the right treatment to save my wallet. 4) they love your furry friend: during hospitalization, the staff sent me videos and pictures of duang duang so that I know he's loved and doing well. They also put toys to entertain with him. 5) in-network connections: they tried best to find the soonest available surgery appointment by contacting many different locations (ex: sage, MedVet silicon valley) . Also had discussion with internal medicine specialist to resolve the difficult medical issue. 6) efficiency, efficiency, efficiency: Doctors and staff are efficient regarding writing prescription and emailing medical records. We were seen within 20 minutes. He was taken back to be worked on and within minutes reappeared without the foxtail that had lodged in his ear. Great vet who was concerned with this minor procedure. I brought my cat Sassy in without an appointment. It was time I put her to sleep do to health issues she was experiencing. From walking into the office I was greeted with such compassion, kindness. Our first time here (this past weekend) since our 14 year old cat was acting strange...after a few bouts of vomit, loss of appetite (which never happens!), and appears to be in pain whenever we picked him up...We normally go to Banfield but since it was after hours, Banfield's recording recommended MedVet. Upon arrival, we registered easily, via our iPhone in the clean waiting area, while they took our cat in for an initial assessment. It wasn't too long before one of the workers came back with our cat to let us know that they were able to take a urine sample and assess that he wasn't in any obvious danger - like a recurring UTI. Gave us options and some advice, before sending us home with peace of mind that he likely just ate too much grass or something when he was outdoor and feeling sick from that but his vitals etc appears to be fine. The biggest surprise and bonus was when we went back up to the front desk to pay, they told us not to worry. They wouldn't charge us! We would have been happy to pay! Now we know where to bring out pets if there's an emergency! Highly recommend! read more
