Pork 14. Fried Rice with BBQ Pork

Decided to order from Mei Mei China Restaurant. We used Doordash but our local restaurant was closed. Doordash was easy and the food, portions and price were great! My son also loves Mei Mei!

Beef friend rice and 2 eggrolls. Portions are TX size.

If your cell phone stops working when you step into this place, don't be alarmed. It's because you stepped back into the 80's, and that's a good thing, because back then, your dollar went far. The vibes of this place is so nostalgic and it's the epitome of a classic Chinese restaurant that has no concept of time. If it's not the vibes that gets you, more importantly the food will. I got the beef fried rice and 2 eggrolls. To get it over with, the eggrolls were veggie, and I'm not a fan of an all veggie eggrolls. The crunch was incredible, but the veggies lost my interest. The beef friend rice was delicious. Taste was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly, not overly salty. What was a shareable item, I ate the whole dish in 1 seating. Seating is plentiful, and so is the parking. You order food, you get food, and that's the gist of the service. I will definitely be coming back!

Hidden gem located In Plano. Wonderful food in a warm atmosphere. We had lo mein, pepper steak , and string beans chicken and the food was all superb. I ordered the pepper steak extra spicy and it had a respectable kick but was not killer. It was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back. Haven't had a great Chinese spot in DFW for a while and I believe I have found a new regular destination! Also you know this place is good because it has been around long time and the owner seems to know eveyone that walks in the door . Reasonably priced as well

So the eggrolls are excellent. The stirfried vegetable delight was good. I'm so tired of the price on a carry out being incorrect (always an extra 1 or 2). When I came to pickup, price looked high. Asked for a copy of the receipt and was given a non itemized credit card receipt. This is the last time to be overcharged. Ran the ticket through the online ordering and $17.10 with tax. I was charged $18.19 which would be exactly equal to $1 + tax. There were no extras or changes. Just got 3 egg rolls & vegetable delight. Pick up order. Not worth the trip back even if could get them to refund or admit the error. I'm just frustrated and will vote with my wallet. Dining out is a luxury but we can certainly not go back to Mei Mei for a very long time.

That is NOT how orange beef should look. It doesnt even have an orange zest taste either.

Low quality. Its Americanized chinese food but still, there should at least be a bit of pride for the product you serve. There is no noticeable pride for the food served here. Odd tasting dishes possibly due to contamination of cooking methods between different items. This orange beef lacks the proper flavor. Even the texture is wrong. Regrettable experience. They need to revamp their process instead of taking shortcuts in hopes that the customer will not notice.

Fried rice lunch (beef) comes with egg roll, and puff

The couple here was courteous and although they got a little busy at one point with another table/group, our food came out super fast after we put in our order. It's a quaint, quiet place that reminds me of a diner. I wanted to support a local business instead of grabbing fast food or a chain place and I'm glad we came here for lunch. They have a lot of lunch specials here which come with egg roll and a cheese puff, as well as egg drop or hot and sour soup. I believe it was $8.35 per the white board in front. Each day there's a different pair of specials featured. Thursday was sesame chicken + pork lo mien, which I got the Sesame Chicken. The food came out piping hot, First was the soups and they were hot and delicious. The little fried crackers it comes with looked authentic and homemade which was a nice crispy touch (instead of the greasy, pre-packaged crackers at other take out spots). The Sesame Chicken lunch special was huge. I had to take a box home. The sauce was sweeter than I expected but the chicken was perfectly hot and crispy underneath the sauce. The beef fried rice my bf had for lunch was flavorful and a big portion too. Overall, during this time it's great to support small local businesses like this so come satisfy your Chinese food cravings at Mei Mei's, the food is prepared well and the price is right for the big portions.

    Singapore mei fun!
    Elaine M.

Sometimes you just want really good chinese takeout. When that's the case, you gotta go to Mei Mei. They are fast, the portions are substantial and the prices are pretty standard. I was really wanting Singapore mei fun. It is perfectly pan fried and not greasy. There is roast pork and shrimp! Again the portions are huge, definitely enough for leftovers for 2 days. My kids love beef flat noodle and the beef is tender and again, huge portions! We also ordered orange chicken to try it and cashew chicken. My husband grew up eating cashew chicken and it reminded him of his childhood :) Call in your order and the food will be ready to be picked up by the time you go there. My online order failed and was cancelled and refunded, no reason why?

Fish sauce.... $2.00 for a to go order ????
    Dave W.

I was on my way home from the dog park and craving spring rolls. I've never been here before, but this place was rated pretty well on Yelp and listed as Vietnamese and Chinese. While waiting for my order, I requested some fish sauce. She told me it was $2. I clarified, and she repeated that it WAS $2 for a side of fish sauce. Maybe this is the best fish sauce ever made, or it comes from the embryo of the Baluga caviar, but wow: it WILL be $2 for me when it's sitting out on the table. I was stunned. Maybe she thought it was for a Gallon? So, I had some amazing spring rolls at "Dot Tea" the other day, and quite possibly the best Thai Sweet Chile dipping sauces I've had, my expectations were high. All I can say is blecchh. The errors and spring rolls were Mediocre at best, but what really stood out were the dipping sauces. By standing out, I mean disgusting. I grew up poor and one time remember having spaghetti, but no sauce. I decided to make my own and took a can of tomato soup that I mixed with Hunt's ketchup. Even for a 7-year-old, it was disgusting. The sauce for the spring rolls tasted like this, only as if it had been left out for 2 weeks. Eggrolls are mushy in the middle, filled with grease and tasteless. The spring rolls are thick, but the shrimp is stale/flavorless. The peanut sauce is one of the worst I've had. All in all, I have no idea how this place is still in business. Bit I now know why there was no-one in the restaurant at 7PM on a Thursday. I will never return here and will probably shudder each time I drive by. Needless to say, I'm glad I didn't get the fish sauce.

    No distinction of flavors whatsoever
    Holly C.

2 stars only because there were large servings of noodles. We decided to order Chinese while having a gathering to celebrate my sister becoming a grandparent. This place had some okay reviews and more selections than the next closest restaurant that delivered. Literally the worst Chinese I have ever consumed. No distinction between flavors whatsoever. Pieces of meat were very minuscule and extremely poor quality (tasted like freezer burnt prepared meat and not fresh). I'm still in shock from the disappointment. Y'all.....when a customer orders $100 in take out....please give them some plastic ware.

We were greeted right away and the restaurant is welcoming with an assortment of booths and some large round tables. The server was friendly and she provided great service throughout our meal. We started with the steamed dumplings which were honestly middle of the road and we the weakest part of our meal. The entrees were uniformly outstanding. We had the Beef Chow Fun which tasted great and was less oily than versions we have had elsewhere. We also had the combination crispy noodles which were well prepared with tender beef and some great shrimp. We capped it off with the General Tso which was delicious. Yes, completely inauthentic but so tasty!! This restaurant is absolutely one of the best Chinese spots in the DFW area. Highly Reccommended!

But the reviews were suspiciously glowing, so curiosity (and hunger) won. We pulled up and I took one look at the building: older, unremarkable, zero curb appeal. Classic "meh." Inside, several large round tables with lazy Susans, red tablecloths, and Chinese lanterns. They first sat us in a booth but I requested later on to be moved to a large round table since we ordered A LOT. But back to when we first sat in the booth - As a Chinese woman, the second I spotted the older seats with ripped upholstery, it hit me like a culinary prophecy: this place was going to serve me some incredible, authentic Chinese food. I don't know what it is, but there's an inverse law of Chinese restaurants: the less fancy the exterior (and the more the booth looks like it's survived several natural disasters), the better the food. Apparently they skip Instagram-worthy renovations and put the budget where it belongs--on the plate! This is now hands down in my top 3 favorite Chinese restaurant in North Dallas - I can even say it's on the very top. I haven't forgotten about the staff. They deserve 10 stars. Super nice!

We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 7 p.m., and surprisingly, we were the only customers there, considering it was peak dinner time. We also discovered that we needed to pre-order the duck in advance. Luckily, the lady informed us that there was one available for us, but it would take about 30 minutes. We ordered the crispy cucumber salad, xiao long bao, and the dry-fried string beans. The dry-fried string beans were my favorite. The string beans had a delightful crisp texture and a flavorful taste. The cucumber salad was also good, but some parts were a bit soggy. The XLB skin was too thick and chewy, and it didn't taste like the usual soup dumplings, which was disappointing. I was excited for the duck, but I was honestly disappointed when it arrived. The portions were quite small, considering it was a whole duck. It wasn't carved tableside, which was a letdown. Some parts of the duck were dry, and the skin wasn't crispy enough. To add to the disappointment, they charge extra for almost everything. If you want more pancakes or their homemade duck sauce (which tasted like black bean sauce), you'll have to pay an additional $5. Another thing to note is that they are BYOB, so you can bring your own alcohol. However, the menu pictures on Yelp are outdated, and they only offer whole Peking duck, not half orders. Overall, the food was just okay, and I'll probably try a different spot when I'm in the mood for duck again.
