I can't say enough good things about Meineke in Gilroy. I bring both my Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner here regularly for routine maintenance, and they've always done a great job. Oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, pretty much everything I've needed has been handled smoothly and professionally. What really stands out to me is how accurate they are with timing. When they tell you when the car will be ready, they actually stick to it. A lot of times it's even done earlier. That's huge for me because I hate going somewhere that says the car will be ready at noon and then it's suddenly 3 p.m. and you're still waiting. That's never been an issue here. The staff is friendly, efficient, and clearly takes pride in their work. It's hard to find an auto shop you can trust, but this Meineke has earned my business. Do yourself a favor don't go there because they may keep it there mine stayed two weeks because according to them they didn't hire enough mechanics to work on cars ! Then they should accept the cars if you can't work on them I would've gone someplace else Like WHAT THE HELL ???so it sits there?? . I had to buy a whole other car to get to work in San Jose they couldn't get it started or push it or tow it out of that shop I drove it in there just find paying for a regular fluid maintenance oil changes ...that should take no more then an hour !!!!!!!!!! Bill & his team at Meineke really went above & beyond to save the day for me. I was beginning a road trip to LA & had just passed Casa de Fruta maybe 10-15min prior when my car started shaking & stopped accelerating. I was able to pull over & eventually was able to get my car to Meineke in Gilroy. Bill let me know that he was overbooked for the day because two members of his team were out, but then continued to ask me questions about what I had experienced with my car. He then ended up saying he & his team would at least see if they could figure out the problem. Not only did they run tests on my car & identify the problem (a broken coil), but they called their supplier, got a replacement coil expedited over to them, & did the repair. I was already roadtripping on a severely sprained ankle & this trip was incredibly important to me for a number of reasons, so having my car break down was really stressful. Bill was kind & I was so grateful he was even helping me out by just diagnosing the problem in the first place. I was blown away that they ended up calling their supplier to get the new coil over to them as soon as possible & that they ended up doing the repair. I wasn't expecting anything since I was a walk-in appointment, but Bill & his team got me back on the road in maybe an hour all things considered, which was a miracle for me. BEAWARE! STAY AWAY FROM HERE. The first time I can here, I got an oil change. I had to take my car a few months later to another mechanic because the change oil light turned on before the typical 5k miles. The second mechanic said that Meineke didn't do the oil change correctly (oil was low, perhaps they didn't top it off?). Since going to the new mechanic, we haven't had that same issue. Next, we bought a used car from a private party. We had Meineke and another mechanic check out the car. Both mechanics said the same work needed to be done on the struts. We had Meineke "fix" it. Sadly, it's still not fixed even after spending all that money. Two other mechanics that have looked at our car since working with Meineke have said that Meineke uses cheap parts. We tired to bring it back to Meineke and told they what we wanted them to take a look at/fix. Even though they've already worked on the car and we're telling them what we want/need they said it'd cost $190 (just to check it out, doesn't include the fix). Previously they quoted $130... my husband called them out on it and they were rude and unprofessional. I don't recommend this place. Take your money elsewhere. You'll get better quality of service. My Kia broke down on the way to San Jose and my insurance covered only up to 20 miles for towing. I live in Salinas so Meineke in Gilroy was my next best bet. I'm giving 5-stars because of the honesty from this business. Skip, a mechanic, informed me that the code he received was typically for a bad engine on its last legs, and told me to take my car to a Kia dealership since there are recalls open for the engine. Skip told me I didn't owe anything, and I told him I'd get it towed back to town the next day. My Kia dealership just informed me my engine was covered under warranty and I'm getting it replaced. Skip really saved me heartache and a couple thousand dollars. I very much appreciate the honesty in the service from this location which is why I'm rating 5-stars. Very dishonest operation. After spending significant amount of money to address an overheating problem, the vehicle continued to have the same problems after several mis-diagnosis and repairs that did not resolve problem. Took it to another shop for diagnostics and many errors and shady work were discovered. Shady job on cooling system and they denied every single issue pointed out to them. When they replaced the timing belt and water pump, they used an old timing belt. Mechanic used a Home Depot bolt to repair an issue in the vehicle that caused other problems. Claim they replaced brakes but continued to have brake problem. Bill defends his shady mechanic to the end and has no clue about customer service. Stay away from this shop. I think his friends wrote the good reviews. read more

Failed mechanics 101. Played the guessing game instead of diagnosing. My first overheat they changed water pump and timing belt 2nd overheat they said it was definitely caused by bad sensor and thermostat Oveheaeted while still in shop Now they say blown head gasket from the overheating. My question is why was the thermostat not checked with the first overheat. They say it's not their protocol to check or replace when working on the cooling system. Be careful. They are not thorough and preventive checks and proper diagnosis is not part of the practice. read more

We had my daughter's car towed to Meineke after she had an accident where she destroyed a wheel and tire. We had bought a replacement tire and wheel at the Wheel Works which they assured us was the same as the ones my daughter purchase a year before. Meineke called me and told me they could put it on but she would not be able to rotate her tires because it didn't match the others... It was a nightmare working with Wheel Works but they had finally found another Wheel Works that had one of the discontinued tires. I was so impressed with Bill at Meineke for being patient, storing our car and then doing all the other repairs. The total cost was unbelievably low for all they had done for us. My daughter Sarah was very grateful for the experience we had a Meineke. I think besides honesty and reasonable costs...they also don't take shortcuts but do what's right. This shop was one of the worst experiences I've had as a car owner. The place charged me 700$ for an oil pan and a replacement after threatening that my cars engine was at risk of blowing up if not fixed on the spot. This place uses fear tactics to prey on young women of color. read more

Beware of their oil change package! Mark your tires before you get your vehicles done at this location. I went there yesterday for a preferred oil change which includes a tire rotation. It was my first time going there and had a terrible experience. I discreetly marked my tires to see if they would rotate them. They handed me my keys in under 30 min. It's surprisingly quick to think they would do the full service as included in the package. I got into my car and checked the tires. THEY DIDN'T ROTATE THEM! I told them about it and they said they did it. L.I.A.R.S This is pure deception and unprofessional. I'm going to bring this up to the headquarters. read more

I took my Lexus in to Meineke for an oil change and was pretty amazed at the courtesy, professionalism, honesty, and just plain kindness of the owner/operator. He walked me through several things that caught his eye regarding future repairs and safety, and really took his time to explain upcoming issues I'd be facing. This was not to make more money, especially since he directed me to Costco or Americas tires as I need all four, but just to be a good person. What a great experience for a 63 year old woman who has paid many a padded car bill in her time. Had to take my car back because was making a noise turns out my left front tire was only holding on by two lug nuts wheel was ready to fall off. This could have caused a bad accident. We took our car to this location to receive service for an AC diagnostic and replacement. The diagnostic was just under $100. The diagnostic was an evacuation of all condensation and freon from the system and recharge of freon with a uv dye. They identified that the leak was coming from the condenser. The cost to replace that part including parts, labor, and diagnostic was about $745 (labor being $156 per hour). When I arrived to pick up the car, I notice that the hood of the vehicle was not closing flush as it originally was. When I popped open the hood, one of the plastic panels that covers the engine was only put in place and did not have any of the plastic fasteners. I told one of the mechanics and they went to retrieve the fasteners, but mentioned they broke one. I asked them to replace it, but unfortunately they did not have any extra laying around. Our air conditioning was resolved which was great, however their customer service and attention to detail is suspect. Ideally, I would give them 2.5 stars as I found my experience to be mediocre. read more

A friend of mine referred me to this place and I was DEFINITELY satisfied!! Long story short, I had been told by 3 different mechanic's that there were 3 different things wrong with my car. The repairs would have cost over $800. So went I stopped by I was greeted by Ian. I asked him the cost of a timing belt and gave me a quote of $450. Still way cheaper than what I was quoted by other mechanics. He then asked me to describe the problem, and asked if he could look at my car real quick. Needless to say not the timing belt. I ended up just needing a tune up and the price was lower than what he quoted me when they were done! My car runs great and I will definitely be coming back for any future car repairs!! read more
