Hu tieu of any type is amazing here (I only had hu tieu here so I don't know about the other dishes on the menu). The flavor is out of this world. It's so authentic that it can only be found in Vietnam! Not only the taste is amazing but the smell was to die for. The owner was always extremely nice. Food is impeccably clean and tasty, but cash only, which is a drag because my money bag is perpetually empty thanks to buying too many miscellaneous bags of chips. The manager/owner is also the most handsome Vietnamese guy I have ever seen (sorry, bros). Sometimes I have a vision of him offering me noodles with his shirt off, and then I remember he has school-age two kids who frequent the area doing their schoolwork and playing video games on their laptops. That owner guy though looks like he just stepped out of the workout magazines and his hair shines like new leather shoes. Sometimes I pretend to peer diligently at the menu but I'm really looking at him moving around filling take-out orders. When they had their old joint their Old Uncle was mean to me once because I was leaning on the huge fish tank. Seriously, the tank was like 200 gallons and was filled to the brim with marine life and water. It was not going to implode because I rested my arm on a corner. Granted, my arms are not matchsticks, but they're not ham hocks either. I would normally give 5 stars as homage to Mr. Mekong Delta of Venus, but they keep running out of spring rolls. read more

This is hands down the best pho you're going to get in Baltimore City. It's different than other places though- it's a little sweeter, and there's a little more spice (star anise and cinnamon notes seem stronger). However, the broth is rich, clear, and the meat portions are generous for the money. However, I would skip on the Vietnamese spring rolls (cha gio), and opt instead for the summer rolls (goi guon)- the lemongrass beef ones are especially tasty while the traditional are a little bit more bland than what you could get at Eden Center in Virginia. read more

I came back each year during summer! That says how much I miss this place and its taste.

2.0 stars I came here with my wife for lunch for pho. We both really love pho and have been spoiled by great pho in California before moving to Baltimore, so our standards may have been a bit high. With that being said, we felt the food here was slightly off and a bit pricey. Food: We ordered the summer rolls, regular combo pho (#P6 at $9.50), and rare meat and tendon pho (#P5 at $8.75). The summer rolls themselves were good, but the peanut sauce was weird. It didn't taste like peanut sauce and was more like a watery fish sauce. The pho was cooked well, but the broth was overly sweet. Meat portions were good and we had plenty of sprouts, jalapenos, limes, and basil. However, the sweetness and oiliness of the broth overwhelmed all the good qualities of the pho. My wife ended up not eating more than half of her pho :( Service: Mekong Delta is in a food court, but the owner is friendly. It looked like Mekong Delta is family run which I do appreciate. The place is also cash only and a bit on the pricey side. Overall: I really wanted to like this place; however, the overly-sweet, oily pho and unusual peanut sauce is going to stop me from coming back. I'm not sure how my opinion would change if I came in without expectations of what the food should be like, so if you haven't had pho before or are willing to change your interpretations on how it should taste, you might like Mekong Delta. I've heard good things about their pho so was super excited to try it out. I ordered the number 2 (pho with rare beef) and was kind of disappointed given all the hype. While the portion size was big and they served it with plenty of meat, the beef was overcooked. And the broth, which did not come out piping hot, was overpowered by an odd sweetness. I've heard wonderful things about this place but their previous tiny location discouraged me from visiting. After their relocation I decided to finally check them out. I went on a Friday during lunch and the wait was about 30 minutes. I ordered the summer rolls (because they looked delicious in the Yelp photos) and the beef pho. The summer rolls were served first (about 15 minutes after placing my order). I knew ahead the rolls were not cooked but they still didn't live up to my expectations. They were too cold and pretty bland although the peanut sauce helped. The ingredients did, however, taste very fresh. I thought I would be too full to enjoy my pho because the rolls are so big but I was surprisingly still hungry. My pho was finally ready and after adding some sriracha (a staple in my life) I was ready to dig in. I tasted the broth first- again, not what I was expecting. I prefer more of a salty broth and this one had hints of sweetness that I think was attributed to the onion. The more I ate the more I enjoyed it and I was stuffed about halfway through. They really do give you a lot of meat. I took the rest home in a plastic container. I couldn't give higher than three star review because while the food was good, I wasn't blown away, but that's just a personal preference. Also, a 30 minute wait doesn't deserve higher for this type of establishment. But they were very friendly and were appreciative that I ordered despite the long wait. If their move means a 30 minute wait (far too long for a food court restaurant) I can only imagine how insufferable the wait was at their previous location. I think Mekong Delta would benefit by moving to a location where they can focus on giving the their customers a better experience in terms of service and ambiance. I put this restaurant in the "I heard of it it, so I tried it, but I don't need to go back" category. Tip: You can call your order in ahead of time. read more

Summer roll was the best one as it was so huge (one was exploded with fillings) to fill me up. Fast and friendly service too. Best pho, best food, and best owner in town! I have been eating at Mekong Delta once a week (at least) for over two years now and do not plan to stop anytime soon. The chicken pho is my go to. Most complex and delicious pho I have ever had. The beef lemon grass rolls compliment the spicy pho very well. The new location has plenty of room and is still BYOB. I have been coming to Baltimore for 7 or 8 years for business trips and very early on discovered Mekong Delta. Originally in a small house -- the few tables were in what would have been a small living room -- there was almost always a wait outside. A good sign, because the food was delicious. Simple, flavorful and fresh. The small number of seats made things a bit of a gamble if you showed up late -- anytime past 7:00 and you might not make it in. Last year I wandered over to find the place being closed up -- the owners were relocating a few blocks away, to the dreaded food court venue. I wondered whether it was a wise move, as it lost all the charm of the old, way-too-small place, but also risked turning into average, pedestrian food. This visit I was to find the answer, which is...... .....NOTHING has changed. The smiling owner greets you and chats away with old customers and charms new ones. His wife is at the stove turning a handful of ingredient into a culinary masterpiece. You are still eating on china bowls and plates, not styrofoam. The aroma greets you when you walk in, and all is right with the world. Mekong is open much later than the handful of other places in the food court, and open later than the old location. There is no problem getting a table now, and instead of waiting 45 minutes outside in the cold, you can now enjoy your meal as soon as it is prepared. On a cold night like tonight, a steaming hot bowl of the Pho is a must. I have had Pho at dozens of places, all a bit different, but this is my favorite. The beef broth is flavorful and memorable, and the mix-in ingredients fresh. There is a wine store a few doors down, and you can buy a bottle, or a beer, and bring it over to enjoy with your meal. Everything is prepared after you order, so you will have a small wait for your meal, especially at a crowded time of day. But it's a fraction of the wait at the previous place when you added in the wait of just getting in! In the past I hesitated to recommend Mekong because the last thing we needed was an even longer wait! But it was no secret that this was the best Vietnamese food in the city. Now I can give it 5-stars and not worry that on my next trip I won't get inn! read more

This is probably the best pho place in Baltimore City. I'm always impressed by the amount of meat they give you, which it at least twice as much as other places. It's a filling meal and it keeps you stuffed for a while, unlike most noodle heavy pho. My favorite is probably P5 - soft tendon and rare beef. I love the flavor of the broth, which is great as is without any additional sauce. My only complaint is the bowls are so small that I have a hard time adding the basil and sprouts to the bowl. Otherwise, it's very satisfying. I'm not sure how I feel about the rolls, but I don't really come here for them. They all have a ton of lettuce in them - probably 3/4 lettuce and 1/4 everything else. While the summer rolls seemed fairly standard, the lemongrass beef rolls feel enormous to me. They feel more like mini burritos than rolls. They are definitely filling enough as a meal on their own - at least they are for me. The sauce is more of a sweet clear sauce with tiny bits of peanut. I would rather it be thicker and more peanut buttery. The old space was cozy, but I like how spacious it is now in the food court. Still cash only, so be aware of that. read more

They moved from their old spot almost close to a year now, and are now in the Eats building across the street. Food is still fine, cheap and plentiful. Now, the issues of not having a place to sit is probably a thing of the past. I like their spring rolls, and any rice or vermicheli dish. I dont do Pho, so check other reviews. I got the Vegetarian Hu Tieu and it was DELICIOUS. They have a pretty decent selection for vegetarians and I can't wait to come back and try more. I had really high hopes coming here for some decent pho after reading reviews since this saves me from having to drive all the way to Catonsville. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed with the soup broth that was totally over salted to the point of inedible and strangely really really dark brown (good pho broth should be light and clear without being greasy), questionable freshness of the accompaniments, and very little meat. I don't mind the location in a food court setting and I liked that they open later and have takeout options, but I can't get past bad food. My family and I could not even eat the food. read more

Nice pho counter in the Charles Center Food court. We came there around 4:30pm before dinner and this was one of the few places open in the food court. We ordered the pho with everything in it. It came out very quickly on a blue tray with a plate of bean sprouts and sliced peppers. The flavor was delicious and the serving was generous with good portion of meat and noodles. A few of the slices of meat were a little thicker than usual. Overall a nice place for lunch. One thing to note is it's cash only. read more

I've eaten here several times before. I've had the pho and the seafood noodle soup. It is always delicious and very filling...BUT TODAY...I had the tofu curry. Let me tell you...this curry was delicious. The right amount of heat (spice), the perfect temperature, perfect rice. packed with veggies. Coconut milk curry, the ultimate chef's kiss. Most people go here for the beef pho, but I prefer the chicken pho ga (they start with H) - I love the one with marinated pork strips, H4. It is sweet but the flavors are complex and the broth has substance. I was hoping for some nicely charred pork but instead there was no char or color on the pork and it was a bit tough. The veggies on the vermicelli were fresh and the portion is generous. Their hours, according to the sign on their storefront, is from 11am-8pm Mon-Sat. I went at 1pm on a Saturday, which should have been peak lunch hour, and they were inexplicably closed. There were a couple of other people that I saw or spoke to who were also planning to eat there at the same time, and were not able to that day. I worked in the city for a brief time and always made sure I came here for Pho. Their broth is delicious and their portions are huge. My personal favorites were the chicken pho and the pho with meatballs. Always filled with generous portions of meat. The owner is really friendly and accommodating. Came here for lunch one day while we are on vacation in Baltimore: The great: food came out fast, the beef stock pho was fantastic and it was more than plenty to fill up one hungry person. Large portions, quick service and delicious food, but CASH ONLY. The ambiance isn't appealing, but it's great for lunch.

Ordered the grilled beef on vermicelli. Maybe I should have gone with the pho, as I wasn't blown away by my dish. The portion was generous, but the beef was more steamed than grilled. I'm typically a fan of cilantro, but found it didn't go well with this dish. When I've had this dish at other Vietnamese restaurants, it's been served with sprigs of mint which helps provide some freshness. While it's great and convenient that this place is open late (9pm), it isn't charming eating at a food court late in the evening when all the adjacent food stalls are closed. May try them again during an afternoon when the food court seems a bit more lively, but this experience didn't give me the Vietnamese fix I was hoping for. read more

I am a huge pho fan. So to me this place does A-OK, just like the three star yelp rating says. There's nothing especially phenomenal about it, and I wish it had more of the bits that I love about old school pho like tendon and tripe and things like that. The noodles are bery good, a pretty average sized leaning towards slightly small portion, but they give you all the fixins you expect which is always great. To me, a good pho is all about the broth, and mekong delta's is pretty passable, absolutely nothing wrong with it, except that the broth wasnt as flavourful and layered as the kind of broth my dad makes. Maybe the missing secret ingredient is love. Or bone marrow. Anyways, this is an extremely reliable solid place to go get your pho-nk on. haha I'm terrible at puns. read more

Pho in the city is hard to come by. I've heard such great things about Mekong Delta so had been looking forward to trying it for a long time. It is in a food court so you order at the counter, get a number, then pick up your food when your number was called. First disappointment was that there was no tripe on he menu. I ordered the meatball and rare beef pho. When I got my pho, it looked amazing!!! A boatload of meat with noodles jam packed in my bowl. However, I was not as excited when I took my first bite. The broth lacked flavor and it seemed like they tried to make up for the lack of flavor by making it sweet. The steak was not rare and was actually kind of overcooked. Meatballs were fine and noodles were a good consistency. I probably won't make the trek out here for pho again. read more
