What a great hidden late night gem! I love being able to have access to healthier food options after a show or event. I wasn't quite ready to head in yet so we stopped here. I love the service and kindness we received. Our waiter was so attentive and made some lovely suggestions. The portions are large enough for sharing or eating some in house and taking the rest to go. The restaurant isn't too shabby. I rated 4 stars because I wasn't too fond of the hallway leading to the and the bathroom. It could be a bit more presentable. Overall I think the food was great. It is a cozy late night spot! I took one star down because there were a lot of flies around the window seating area my friend and I were in. It was difficult to eat because you wouldn't have expected a place to have so many flies! The food was otherwise very good and service was gentle and kind. The portions are generous and there is many to choose from. I would've expected the quality of the noodles to be better since they reminded me a bit of ramen noodles for the Kao Soi I've had. After a long day of moving our furniture, I was craving something soupy, but it was 10pm and all pho places were closed. I saw on Rod Dee Thai's menu that it had a soup called Tom Yum Goong. We came in expecting to be seated, but their dine-in was closed! It closes at 10:30pm. They were only doing take out, which was fine by me. I ordered the soup along with a Thai iced tea, drunken noodles with chicken and my husband ordered pineapple fried rice with chicken. All this was only ~$38! The Tom Yum soup was delicious!!! It really hit the spot and it cured my pho cravings. It was sour, tangy and had a meaty flavor to it. The drunken noodles were also really delicious, my only wish was that I should have ordered it spicy! My husband also really enjoyed his fried rice. I am not a huge fan of Pad Thai because it's not consistent from place to place. Rod Dee hands down nailed it. My tastebuds were so delighted by the quality of this dish. The Iced Thai Tea is delicious also... I literally just finished and ran to my phone to write this review. The staff was very nice over the phone while helping me get my iced tea since the iced coffee is the only option on Door Dash. I will be ordering again. I'm stuffed. I've ordered here a few times and each time has been delicious. I've tried their pad see ew, drunken noodles, and pad thai. I'm usually not in love with pad thai but this one is pretty great. I recommend the shrimp with it. It has tofu in it regardless of which meat you choose which confused me at first because it looks like the pork that is in fried rice. I love their drunken noodles. Their pad see ew is good but not the best. Their drunken noodles are perfect with the right amount of heat. Spring rolls are good as well. We will definitely continue to order from here! read more

I had a really nice lunch there. They have lunch specials for $10 and it comes with a select entree, a vegetable soup and a vegetable roll. I chose the drunken noodle as my entree and it was fresh and flavorful. I also had a Thai iced tea, and it was really sweet, so it's more like a dessert. The lady working there was nice and helpful and the food came out fast and hot. Besides the lunch specials, they also have a full menu too. Mainly ended up here because it was open late on Sunday, but it helped that the menu and everything I saw online looked promising, and it did not let me down. I at first was going to have my friend meet me to dine in, but then she had a change of plans so I had to change my order to go. They handled it well, and it was prepared pretty quickly. I got the Kao Soi Tofu and the Sweet Sticky Rice w/ Taro Custard. It was actually my first time trying both of these and I really liked them. The Kai Soi was like a dressed up yellow curry with a delicious rich and spicy sauce, which thankfully wasn't at all oily unlike some curries I've had. The pickled mustard greens were a really nice touch on this. The waitress asked if I wanted spicy or non-spicy and I went with spicy. Yes it is spicy but nothing insane. If you are averse to spicy food get the non-spicy version but don't be afraid of the spicy if you have a moderate spicy tolerance. The sticky rice and custard was also delicious - the custard had such a nice texture and natural taro flavour, and the dessert wasn't too sweet or heavy. The portions were very filling but I was starving so I finished every last bite. Even in the takeout packaging, the presentation was really nice! Very fair prices for the size and quality of food! The interior decor and layout is odd. The floor near the bathroom was sticky, sticky. Menu had many items but was missing a number of items typically found in Thai restaurants. The proprietor's ~7 year old kid was running around. Nice enough kid, but a distraction. Food was decent. Would not recommend for dine-in. We went to this place because it was open till 3am! How nice and convenient for college students who want a late night treat. The place was pretty cozy and the service was extremely nice! He was so kind and well-mannered. The Rho dee thai noodles were really, really spicy. But, Ka Pow Chicken was delicious, however, the portions were small. Crab Ragoons.... ABSOLUTE YUM! Dude, LOVED IT!!! Service: I'm very irritated by poor customer service, but am just as excited and thankful for great service and this place was awesome!! The lady was super sweet, super thoughtful and made me feel welcome right off the bat!! Food: Green curry was super flavorful!! Just smelling it, my husband said "this smells right, like you can actually smell the fish sauce in there!" And he was right, it was great! I don't know WHY I love foods, I just know when I do, but my husband is a great cook and is good at dissecting why something is delicious and my husband said it looked like they pan fried the eggplant before putting it in the dish and it gave it perfect texture, tender but not too mushy and said the pork was super flavorful, instead of just plopping flavorless/boiled/blanched like most Thai restaurants do. Drunken noodles: we eat a lot of Thai in San Diego, but my husband said these were some of the best drunken noodles he'd ever have (and I agree!) The noodles seemed handmade (we can't imagine they actually are, that would be crazy! But maybe hand cut?? Not sure!) Tons of delicious basil. Really great!! Only 3 not- perfect things to note: 1. Parking sucks, not their fault, but just something to keep in mind. The street parking was $4 an hour--we were actually going to stay for lunch, but decided just to pick up due to that. 2. We ordered spicy level 10 and it really was not all that spicy! I can understand that too--some Thai restaurants in SD had to lower their heat levels because people kept ordering 8-10 and then complaining it was too hot and returning it so, I get it, but if you're someone who eats REALLY REALLY spicy like we do, you may want to ask for a Thai 10 or for 10 extra spicy or whatever. 3. This is from my experience on Monday 7/4. I only went to get a carry out order of mango sticky and Thai iced tea. I changed my mind and dined in for my mango sticky rice because I was pressed to eat it immediately. Every time I get mango sticky from Rod Dee it's on point, I just which the portion was slightly bigger. The Thai iced tea always hits and not that I know they have coconut milk I'll be getting them from here more often. A brand new restaurant on N Charles St midway between Mt. Vernon and the Harbor, Rod Dee Thai has exceeded my expectations! I had the Curry Puffs, Ka Nom Jeep, Pork Pad Thai, and Green Curry. Some would say that's too much food, but my taste buds would disagree. The owners are young, full of energy, and ready to show you a taste of Thailand. There is plenty of space for seating, TVs, and a beautiful bar (can't wait till they start serving liquor). I placed an online order tonight to the tune of $67.78. Everything was fine except the 2 orders of Gyoza (dumplings). They were badly over fried. Hard as bricks! First of all, the picture on the website showed STEAMED dumplings not fried. They weren't palatable at all! So I called the restaurant to inform the hostess about the unsightly, tough order of dumplings. She kept insisting "they come fried" when the website negated what she was saying. I asked to be compensated with a coupon or a gratis order upon my next visit. She hung up on me. I will NEVER patronize this hole-in-the-wall again!! I was very excited to get both of this tasty dishes as I have try them at other locations. But to my terrible disappointment, only my Stocky Rice arrive, not only that but the portion was disrespectful specially for the price! I had somewhere to be and I still waited a WHOLE HOUR and to see that my Pad Thai was missing was infuriating. DoorDash decided it wasn't working that night nor the day after for me to submit my complaint and get my reimbursement. It sounds like something out of a comedy skit, but there it was, in my first spoonful of Tom kha Gai soup...a nasty, dead fly. I tried to eat the other things in my order, normally some if my favorites that I had been craving, but they weren't great, and I was just so grossed out by the fly I just couldn't do it without wondering what other nasty surprises I might find.
