Today, I visited this restaurant with my daughter and her husband. We ordered salads and a pizza. The salads were supposed to come out first. After 30 minutes we asked when would we get the salads and were told they should be coming up any time. In about 10 more minutes, we got the salads and about five minutes later, the pizza, which of course meant the pizza was cold because we were eating the salad first. When we placed our order, we also placed a to go order. Our server said let her know about 10 minutes before we were to leave - though we couldn't catch her eye, we asked another server to remind her we needed the to go order to be placed. When we finally did speak to our server, she said the other one had not told her to put it in. At least sitting there so long gave us opportunity to witness another waitress setting a table, dropping silverware on the floor, picking it up walking down the hall with it and back and placing the silverware she'd dropped on the floor back on the table. The wait would not have been so bad had the restaurant been busy. It was not even half filled. Sorry, Yellow Mushroom, you need better help. read more

Unfortunately as delicious as the pizza is, the service is very lacking. The little twist at the front cash register are more interested in talking to each other than helping customers. We had a party of seven and the little girl with the braid (I know her name but should I tell you?) was rude to all of us ONE at a time. We just asked if there was a large party. She proceeded in rolling her eyes & acting put out. Thank goodness the server was friendly. I have eaten at MM five times this summer - once they ran out of DOUGH. Pizza dough. The 2nd time, we waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for our food. This 5th time - rudeness. read more

For a chain restaurant, this was a great addition to The Alley in Aiken. It's perfect for large groups, which is a shortcoming of most other restaurants around it. And they always have something going on, from live music to trivia nights. Their drinks are cheap and the food is stellar. And nothing beats the outdoor patio that sits right along The Alley. read more

The Mellow Mushroom in Aiken is a good example of what happens when a chain is really good at the beginning with several locations and then tries to expand too big. The service was okay for lunch but the food was terrible. They blamed it on that they had large parties and I said well then don't have large parties anymore. I ordered the lunch combo which was two slices with two ingredients each and they took a half-baked pepperoni pie and then put raw onions on top of it without even cooking them. All in all a bad experience and I will never visit this restaurant again. read more

I really enjoy Mellow mushroom. The food is always hot and super flavorful. I never have to wait a long time and the service is always fun and inviting! One of my favorite places downtown! I seriously eat here way too often HA. My favorite is the Mighty Meaty pizza. Soooo good. Their Greek salad is also awesome! read more

This restaurant is really cute, the staff were all friendly. I got the Steak & Cheese Hoagie, which was gross. The meat had no flavor, and it had mostly onion, bell peppers, and mushrooms. My sandwich only had a few pieces of meat, the bread was okay. My daughter got the calzone & my husband got a pizza. They both said it was really good. This is one of the best pizzas. I love the veggie pizza! They are one of the only places in the area with a real garden salad (with lettuce that is green, not white!) at almost half the cost. Such a funky and friendly atmosphere. This location has a great wait staff. Yuuuuuum! read more

The restaurant has a very pub and college feel to it. I wasn't very impressed by the restaurant, I think if your a college kid or a young adult looking to have a good time the restaurant would be a great location. First, the facility has televisions everywhere, so if you looking to watch a game, this is the place for you. The food was average at best, I've eaten at much better pizza establishments here in Aiken. I had the house calzone, which wasn't anything to rave about. The inside was barely stuffed and the center was cold with lackluster flavors. The bruschetta appetizer was dull at best. Having moved to the CSRA from the Atlanta 'burbs, I've eaten many a calzone and slice of pizza from Mellow Mushroom in the past 14 years. The Aiken location is really clean and trendy inside, although the service was a little slow when we stopped in. Took a while to get our drinks, and a while longer to get our calzones. Not a problem really, but the calzones were overcooked a little and my jerk chicken had a very strong Worcestershire sauce flavor to it, and very little spice. I think we'll just stick to the Augusta location from now on. read more

My friend ordered a Greek salad to eat in and i ordered 1 to go. Hers was 3 times the size of mine and when i complained the manager said - " i can shove some more lettuce in there". And that's what he did - no more cheese, nor any other toppings. Then my pizza never saw an oven only a microwave - nothing had been baked - just slapped on top of the cooked dough. It was AWEFUL. Spent Black Friday touring in Aiken. We decided on Pizza for lunch and initially went to the other pizza place in town. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge our existence, we left and strolled over to mellow mushroom. What a difference. Immediately greeted and seated. Our waitress, Sydney, came over right away to take drink orders. She was very precise, making sure she had each order correctly. She stopped by to check on us several times. I would say the food is good but the reason for the stars is Sydney. She was great. When you go ask for Sydney. You won't be disappointed. read more

Very good place. The food is great. We have been a hand full of times and have ordered something different each time. Everytime the food and the service has been great. The prices of the food are about the same as some of the other bigger chain stores, but the quality of the food is so much better. They even had live music out side the last time we went. Second time I've been to a mellow mushroom on the east coast. Food is good, if you can get it. Arrived around 715 on a Saturday, about half the tables were empty and after we sat down, ordered drinks and an appetizer we were told it would be over an hour wait for any food from the oven (pizza, calzones etc). The other time I was at a mellow mushroom the service was beyond slow with getting our food, and again it wasn't overly busy. It'll be a long time before I consider going back into one..... read more

This place has great atmosphere but take your whole pay check. Got charged last night 40 dollars for a white pizza with onions and chicken. Rediculas. Had a call one 8 dollars it had nothing in it 6 inches from either end was just dough. If you want great pizza go around the corner to pizza joint twice as much pizza for half the price. Never really a complaint at all. Our favorite is the Holy Shiitake pizza. The Mighty Meaty is also an excellent choice. I'm not a drinker, but it seems as though there is a reasonable beer selection and the outdoor seating is comfortable as well. read more

I usually go to the Mellow Mushroom in Augusta but I have been to the Aiken store a few times. The service is slow and the pizza is burnt a lot of the time. I would recommend Augusta over Aiken. read more

I normally love mellow mushroom and have never had a bad experience until we visited the Aiken location. When we arrived it was pretty busy as it was the backside of lunch hour on a Sunday but it seemed like people were mostly finishing up and leaving. We were seated right away but it took the waitress 10min to come over to take drink orders. We told her our whole order before she left to help expedite things a bit. Large Holy Shiitake. She put in the order... Exactly one hour later I pulled her aside and asked what the hell is taking so long??? She said they are understaffed in the kitchen and it is very busy. I looked behind the line and there were the normal number of people (very interesting looking) people very slowly working there. The restaurant was mostly empty at that point so there was no excuse. 15min later out came the pizza. The toppings were thrown on very unevenly. Actually half the pizza was almost topping less and the other half very heavily covered. Fortunelty it still tasted good but when we got the bill they didn't even give us the curtesy of a free drink for having to wait 1hr 15min for one pizza! It's not about the money, it's the principle. Anyways... If you are going to this mellow mushroom make sure you pack a snack... You will be waiting a while read more

Ordered a large "make your own" pizza because the House pizza had many toppings family did not care for. Cost for large House pizza was $25. Cost for "make your own" ended up being $33.50 before tax with less toppings. I ordered chicken ($4.50 adder, bacon ($4.30 adder), tomatoes, green olives, pepperoni. Base cost was $14.99. Pizza was good but the waitress was unable to tell me which was a better deal or the better way to go. Caution that you get the price of a "make your own" before you order or you might get ripped off. read more

Went to MM for the first time with 2 friends last night. We shared the large Greek salad, which was very, very good. There was certainly plenty to go around. We also had the Holy Shitake and Mellowtarainian? Pizzas. I'm used to East Coast pizza and usually go with Pizza joint or Marcos. These pizzas were terrific. Thin chewy crust, flavorful sauce without too much acidity, and delicious, well-balanced cheese blends. Wonderful meal at a very reasonable price with quick, friendly service. This was our first time at a mellow mushroom, and it was not a great experience.. we came before going to a show at the theater and made sure we got to MM 2 hours before the show started to give ourselves time to eat and not rush.. the place was not packed when we came around 12:15 or so. We ordered the steak sandwich, the Carnie burger some wings and mushroom soup. The wings were good. they came out in a OK time frame.. The rest of the food? not at all it took forever to come it took over an hour. The steak sandwich was so dry and overcooked ( I didn't say anything cause i Split it with my dad and he seemed to think it was ok to his standards)The soup was so salty and The burger was so dry.. we ordered it medium rare and the waitress took the order as that and ever repeated it to us. it was hard and dry beyond dry. she tooks it back ( at this point it was around 1:30pm and the play was at 2:00pm) it took them almost 20 min to redo the burger, they brought it out and waited 5+ more minutes for them to bring out the roasted potatoes that came with it. at this point as soon as it came out we had to ask for a to go box cause we would be late for the play.. told her we were going to the play.. took her forever to get the check as well and to bring the change back finally... we just made it in time to go to the play. We took a bite out of the burger before we left.. and once again.. hard and SUPER dry! but we didn't have time to do anything about it again.. we just tried to have a bite now and it's like a dried out hockey puck! We literally had to feed it to the cats because i felt bad to throw it out all together. You need to teach our line cooks to take the burger off a min or two before it's done because the residual heat continues to cook it.. and also i'm not sure if they press it when they flip it.. but if they do they shouldn't push out all the juice. VERY disappointed! they should have gotten it right the second time.. not have to do it a 3rd if we had stayed to have it fixed once again.. I mean people who came way after us were being served their meals before us.. unacceptable! She did take off the burger, but my mom went without eating her burger 2 times.. I shared my half of the steak sandwich and soup with her. just so she didn't sit there staring at us eating. read more

Waited an hour for food. The place was not packed. When we received our food, it was cold. There was a large table of people across from us who had gotten up and left. They said they had been waiting over an hour and half and could not wait anymore. Will never eat a MM again. read more

My husband and I love good pizza and we are developing a fondness for most of the Mellow Mushroom restaurants that we've visited....with a couple of exceptions (Savannah, GA is one of them). Anyway, we were waiting patiently for the new Mellow in Aiken to open and we drove out there from Lexington in mid-December. As sad as we were that the Bowery closed it's doors and sold the beautiful spot, we couldn't be happier that the new inhabitant is Mellow Mushroom...they've done a beautiful job putting their own mark on the place. We had the choice to sit on the patio or inside and we chose inside only because there was some sort of party going on outside and we like to be able to talk at a normal volume and hear ourselves. The indoor dining was comfy and relaxing and the atmosphere perfectly done...not overwhelming or distracting. Everyone was very welcoming and we had the sweetest waiter....I hope he forgives me for forgetting his name. We sat by the "exit" door. People kept trying to come in that way and had to be pointed toward the main entrance. Anyway, our waiter was so attentive to our needs during our entire meal....he felt bad because they had none of the peanut butter cup cookies that I so desperately wanted for dessert, but said he'd buy me one personally on our next visit. I'm not going to hold him to it, but I thought that was very kind of him. We had ceasar salad with grilled chicken that was outstanding and then we had pizza with pepperoni and green peppers....also wonderful. All in all, it was worth the short drive to Aiken to try out the newest Mellow and welcome them to town. We're already planning another visit....probably in the spring. We loved the place!
