I came here last week around 5pm, the place was basically dead. I have never been to a Mellow Mushroom before but the place was pretty cool for a chain. My boyfriend and I split a large pizza - half Holy Shittake and half Maui Wowie. The pizza was good, we could only manage half of it between us. The rest was leftover the next day! Service was good. Walked in and immediately loved the fun laid back artistic vibe. Decided to sit out on the patio since today was a cooler than normal summer day here in humid DFW. Started out with a healthy half spinach salad. But really didn't want Balsamic vinegar in my dressing. So I ask for the herb vinaigrette instead. And guess what is the vinegar in that dressing: Balsamic! So this is my first time here. You would think the server would know this and advise me of the fact. He didn't. As a matter of fact, he never even inquired into how I liked my salad....it is fantastic, minus the Balsamic that is fighting everything and making me choke/ cough because it is too astringent and overwhelming. On to my main course, the mole chicken pizza. Yummers, I cannot wait. When it arrives, I honestly hear the pizza pie arch angels sing....cue the music. It looks crispy, but not to crunchy. With a lovely dough texture and no grease to contend with, I am on cloud nine. Until I realize there is no parmesan cheese or red pepper flakes on the table. And of course my waiter has not brought them or even suggested their presence. At this point and juncture, I realize Arlington is a college town. Filled with college workers, in their young 20's still making sense of their work style & ethic. So I ask for the usual condiments, and receive a polite but rude..."do you WANT anything else" reply. Um no. Nothing else from you. So he proceeded to hand me a to go box, whereas I wrapped my own item up. And asked another server for a carrying bag for my to go items. And since the ice in my drink melted 30 minutes ago and my server couldn't be bothered. ...can I have some ice please. Now I tipped the other server for helping out. To be completely gracious, I tipped my less than willing & unhelpful server too. But if I come back, it will be for a to go order. The food here is amazing. Sevice, not so much. I noticed from all of the comments on your corporate website, that they are all negative. Not one of them had a positive thing to say about any of your locations. I find that to be extremely disappointing. I have eaten at mellow mushroom locations in several cities, including Orlando, Florida, Austin, Texas, Arlington, Texas, and Houston, Texas. Every year for the last five years I've had a conference in Arlington, Texas the friends that I meet at the conference every year, Look forward to stopping by at the Arlington location, for some of the best pizzas on the market. This year I've never been treated the way that we were treated at this location. There was no manager on duty. There was no franchise owner on duty. We entered the restaurant at the peak rush-hour of 5:30 PM on a Monday night, the restaurant had three tables occupied. Two, three-tops and one, two-top. We were a seven-top that included five adults and two children under the age of 6. There was a visible staff of five people, one bartender, one server, and three kitchen staff. We ordered our drinks, appetizers and pizzas. While one, two-top, came in after us, we did not receive our orders for over two hours. There was no organization to the way tables were handled. People who came in after us receive their food orders, ate their food and left before we had even seen our pizzas. The three complicated pizzas apparently were one small half cheese, half pepperoni for the kids, One medium philosophers pie and one large Maui Wowie. After two hours our pizzas had still not come. The server was wiping down tables for people who were not there and were not entering the restaurant. The people in the kitchen were standing around, doing basically nothing the bartender actually delivered our drinks and brought the two appetizers we had ordered eventually. This was intended to be a celebration of a single mother and it quickly became a disaster. There was no explanations. There was no one coming to apologize and when finally pressed to get the food and box it up, We wound up with bills of nearly $200. There was no mad rush for orders coming in over the phone to be delivered. There were no pizzas moving in and out of anywhere. It was just the most shabbily run operation in a restaurant I have ever seen. I have worked in bakeries, in fast food restaurants, in retail, and in restaurants throughout my life and I have never seen a place so completely disorganized and unsupervised. I am not looking for an apology or a refund or a free food coupon. Nothing you could do, or say, will ever bring me back into any of your locations in any part of the United States, that I travel through. Nor will any of the other people that I was with tonight. In short, you have lost a customer and you have created a vocal and outspoken critic. What does it say about your corporation, if every comment on your corporate website is negative? Perhaps, you may want to consider removing yourself from the hospitality and service industry. read more

Finally got to try this place out! I took my friend from out of town here so that we could share the experience together =) We started out with the spinach and artichoke dip and it was pretty good. Not the best I've had but it was decent. I like that it was served with bread rather than chips. We also got 2 personal pizza's. She ordered the Magical Mystery Tour and I got the Mighty Meaty. The magical mystery tour had a pesto base with mushrooms, jalapeños, spinach and feta cheese. SO YUMMY! Definitely my favorite out of the two. The mighty meaty had bacon, pepperoni, sausage, ham and ground beef. It was good but very heavy. Service was pretty fast and out waiter was friendly, but not very attentive. This was my first dine in since the covid started. I picked it on purpose because I knew it was pretty open and tables were already pretty spaced out. That part was good. Our waitress was masked. The food was amazing. I forgot how much I love the pizza! The menu was plastic, so I am assuming it was being wiped down before & after us. That made me a little nervous, but I let it go as I was inhaling the pizza smell. I took away a star for a waiter, not ours, who had a mask, but it was worn pushed down below his chin the whole time. The bartender rushed me as if she was busy. When I ordered it took forever to get my appetizer then forever to get my entree. Once I got my food I didn't see the bartender anymore. When I was done I waited for her to come offer me a to go box or something. She never did. I finally just asked for a to go box and the check and to go drink(didn't get a refill the entire time). Completely let down. Hadn't eaten all day and convinced my class to go to mellow mushroom for good pizza. Big mistake, they dont seat large parties without a reservation. Upon arriving i asked the hostess if i could put some tables together for my party to which she said yes. After putting the tables together for my party of 13 i was told by the manager in a very passive aggressive tone that we were supposed to call ahead and that they couldnt help us because there was no server in the area and their pizza takes a while to make. My group and I immediately took the hint and left to grease monkey across the street which also takes reservations but seated us regardless of our party size. We had the Mighty Meat pizza for lunch. The large is too big for a couple of Xtra large fellas. My mom had a tough time finishing her salad too. Food - Let's just say Hells Yeah! Service - so I've read the reviews and I can somewhat agree. From what I observed it seems to be a training issue. Remember that today's service standard is not what it was 20 years ago. That said, the supervisor or manager came to check on us and was more than eager to handle our requsts. I think it should have been our server. Again, a training issue. Katie on the other hand seems to have been brought up with some good ethics at home. She noticed our cups low and refilled them and even cleared half of our table. Great pizza and great atmosphere. I was especially impressed that they took my reservation for 14 for a friday! My kids got to go see their staff make pizza and they even let my kids make pretzels! My husband and I ended up here on a date night when the place we wanted to go was too crowded. I'm not a huge pizza fan to begin with, but I was very impressed with their menu and drink options. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very inviting, colorful bright and fun. On the downside and the reason for giving three stars is that service was very subpar. No one came to our table for over 20 minutes. We actually had to ask one of the servers passing by who was serving our table. Once we finally did get our server to come over. He was very nice, funny and apologetic for the wait, but didn't offer us any appetizers for the long wait. He did shift blame and said that the front desk did not let him know we were there. I would also like to add that it was not very busy although it was a little late at night several servers and restaurant staff were standing around chitchatting and saw us sitting there. It took a while to get our food, at least another 30-45 mins, when we got it, it was hot and delicious. Even after calling over our server multiple times, she would walk away before we even finished talking. I personally am not a fan, but that does not mean this is a bad place to eat. That being said, its also not a good one. The pizza is mediocre and the price isn't even close to what you get. The pizza is basic and you might as well get a Pizza Hut pizza for half the price. The rest of the menu isn't terrible from what I've tried, but again is nothing special. The service is average, good waiters are abundant, and the atmosphere really is unique and fun! I love the lights and the wall art! There really isn't much else to say about the ambiance and atmosphere but know that it is the best part of this restaurant. Overall, if you want a fun place to take a friend (or a group of friends) this is a solid choice! The food wont be great and the prices are high, but you're going to have a good time just based on the atmosphere and such. Not a bad place, but not one I would frequent. read more

While I only go to MM once or twice a month and order a simple hamburger and a couple of beers while I watch a game on TV, I have really enjoyed the food and drinks, the sevice pepole have been slow and sometimes therir non-existent. My first visit to Mellow Mushroom was during the summer, in between lunch and dinner. We were some of the only people in the place. The service was fast and the food was great. We liked it so much that we invited my in-laws out with us for dinner after they moved here. Unfortunately, that visit did not go as smoothly as the first. It was moderately crowded, but we waited at least an hour for our food. My father in law only got half of his hoagie because the other half was dropped on the floor and had to be remade. The kids mac and cheese was smaller than when we came the first time. Over all, the food was good, but the wait was ridiculous. We decided to give MM another chance when my parents came out to visit. My in-laws joined us as well. Another LONG wait. When the food finally came out, things were not correct. The two kids meals were disproportionately sized. One was in a small bowl, which my 3 year old (who eats like a bird) devoured. The other was in a larger bowl for my 1 year old. We ended up giving my 3 year old more from what the 1 year old couldn't eat. I ordered a calzone with pepperoni and jalapenos. What I was served was just a cheese calzone. They took it back and said they would make me a new one. My dad ordered a steak calzone but was served a hoagie. They let him keep the hoagie and made him his correct order. By the time I got my correct order, everyone else had finished eating and was ready to go. After my last 2 visits to Mellow Mushroom, I'm not sure I was to risk another visit. The food was good, but was not worth over an hour of waiting after ordering. It's frustrating to wait that long and then find your order is wrong and have to wait some more. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was good and I like the ambiance. read more

Expect to pay for this pizza - this isn't a regular pizza place. They have an absurd number of toppings and all sorts of combinations of them. It's also greasy, which is how I like my pizza, so be conscious of that. The sizes are bigger than they sound because the pizza is thick and the toppings are heavy. Between four people, we order two pizzas and always take some home. And I'm a big guy and can eat a lot. Most of the pizza is good - I can't say I've had everything here but I'm a big fan of the Great White. read more

Mellow Mushroom is where you will find lava lamps, hippie mushrooms, and all of the other psychedelic vibes. I have only been to this location here in Arlington. It is next to Babes and across the street from On Tap and Grease Monkey. It definitely gives people a nice variety to choose from! I have been here twice now. First time I came for lunch and had their portabello mushroom salad! It was wonderful. The balsamic dressing they use is wonderful! This past weekend we went later in the evening and sat at the bar. The drinks were okay and the service was okay. The guys were nice, but they hardly engaged and the Mule they made (one straight off their menu) was not good at all. He made my friend a Dark and Stormy, ironically off the menu, and it seemed to be better than their house cocktail list. Overall the place is decent. I do appreciate the fact they post their nutrition/calorie information. Always a plus! I just think their pricing is a bit expensive seeing as their are more local options that do not get as crowded and have just as good of food options. read more

Place was slow but somehow it took a literal hour to get our pizza, then another 30 minutes to get dessert. And the dessert was a rock solid "cookie" with a scoop of ice cream on it.
