Literally some of the WORST service I have ever experienced. I was sitting facing the kitchen and all I saw was a bunch of college students talking to each other instead of doing their jobs. My friend and I came, waited 45 minutes for our bread, and waited another 45 for our pizza. I got a small and she got a medium, it shouldn't take an hour and a half to serve 2 people when the restaurant had literally 8 people in it all together - I went around and checked to make sure there wasn't a big party which would cause a wait but nope. I attached a pic to show how truly empty the place was so you can see just how ridiculous this wait was. Probably the most unprofessional service I have ever received. Mello Mushroom is such a treat for me. As I have gotten older I have come to realize that all of my favorite places because I frequented them during a life transition. Such has been the case as I was home shopping in Arlington, and now while I have been going through closing. In college I would stop by Mellow Mushroom on occasion, but the drinks were a little steep and the pizza a bit gourmet for my single servers budget. Through the past couple of weeks as I have been on this journey I have stopped in and indulged. My go to - the pretzel bites and a Holy Shiitake pizza. Like I said, these pizzas are gourmet. They are rich, decadent and contain a lot of fats, carbs and dairy. The Holy Shiitake is an experience in itself. If you like cream sauce and mushrooms, stop reading and try it right now. The pretzel bites are good, but more like pizza crust bites than pretzel. If you expect the brown salt covered dough then you will be disappointed. However, these are delicious. The best part - the PBR cheese dip. The prices are a bit high, but worth it in my opinion. If you get the chance, request Michael. He is a great server, and he has been there every time I have. Great location, great food, and great memories. Luckily, my new home is just minutes away. Many more memories to come. read more

To celebrate school starting tomorrow, my daughter, son-in-law, and both granddaughters came from FW to pick me up and get dinner close to my home. We love Mellow Mushroom and decided to eat there. We got there about 6:45 tonight; they close at 8. First let me say that the pizza and calzones were amazing. The 40 somethings loved the music. It was a little loud for me but that's because I'm a senior plus some! We were surprised that almost no one was there when we walked in. We were quickly shown to a table, got drinks, and then we asked for a couple of minutes before ordering. That's when almost everything except the food went downhill. Our waitress didn't return for almost 15 minutes in spite of my attempts to raise my hand and get her attention. She was visible and talking with several other idle employees. Only one employee, another waitress, was actually working and taking care of the one other occupied table. I watched as one employee DANCED, laughed, possibly directed music the entire time we were there which was over an hour. Others stood around just talking, joking, laughing, drinking, and dropping several F-BOMBS which could be clearly heard over the rock music. Obviously customer service was not a concern tonight; my son-in-law actually had to get up to refill our drinks while we waited on our food. Before leaving, I asked to speak to the manager who came out from the back office. All the idle employees seemed concerned at this point except for the hard-working one. She was still busy. At this point, even the dancing, music-directing employee asked if he could help me. I will tell you that the manager listened carefully to my concerns and was very apologetic. He explained that they'd had a hard weekend; I assumed families might have been moving students into UTA. He also told me that tonight was our waitress' last night. I didn't believe that he was trying to excuse any of the behaviors. In fact, he apologized several times and said he would address the situation. I wouldn't ask for anything more from him. Sounds like tonight was just the perfect storm. However, no customers should be subjected to that lack of service and/or the filthy language. Period. So family and I have tried this franchise in Denver I believe, came to lunch with coworker and gave this location a try. Pretty cool decor and area to have some pies and beers, I ordered the pacific rim wich has bacon, pineapple, mozzarella, jalapeño and I may be forgetting some toppings but it was good. Haven't been to mellow in months since the Mansfield location closed. We ordered a large great white and kosmic karma to pick up and take home. The pizza was ready when we arrived. The staff were very friendly and understood when we asked for ranch. Mellow Mushroom homemade ranch is the best!! We kept the pizza warm in the oven when we got home and it was delicious!! We would love to see a location closer to Burleson open so that we can come more often. read more

This is one of my go-to places especially when I've got a couple of sports events I want to watch at the same time. I mostly dine in the bar area because; 1) It is so cool and 2) It is so much more than a pizza joint. In fact, they serve my favorite hot wings! The wings are meaty, not fried and you could put the hot sauce on a car bumper and I'd eat it. The pizzas are really good and if you are so inclined (as I am) for a crust cooked to well done just ask and they'll do it. They have a very complete menu with lots of sandwiches, some AMAZING mushroom soup and awesome apps. There is a complete bar and LOTS of types of beer on tap and in bottles. Others have mentioned there are nights it can be very crowded. It is true but there is a caveat. But as an Arlington resident, I can tell you that happens almost exclusively when there are multiple events at AT&T, Globe Life and / or the theater right next door. Simple rule of thumb is if there is a big show or sold out game just go to The Mellow Mushroom right after gates open or before show lets out...but isn't that true for so many places in Arlington? read more

Two friends and I were in the mood for pizza and came here one early Saturday afternoon. Decor is fun and family friendly. The lava lamp chandelier certainly caught my eye and brought me back to my 80s. I can only imagine the atmosphere during a busier time. It must be fun. We were told the pizza would take 15 minutes so to hold us until then, we started off with an order of the oven roasted wings. Because we ordered 10, we were able to get two flavors: half hot and half sweet Thai chili. I liked them both but preferred the hot. The hot was not as spicy as I would have liked but still tasty. Because these are twice baked, you don't feel as guilty eating them. We ordered the Philosopher's Pie which was delicious! The cheese was gooey and the vegetables were fresh. I also love the crispy crust. However, there was minimal steak on the salad. As a matter of fact, I don't think I had any on the 2 slices I had. Service was quick and friendly. Our waitress checked on us at opportune times but gave us enough time and space to thoroughly enjoy our food. I appreciated management checking in on us as well. This was yet another long overdue Arlington bucket-list item and sadly a disappointment. My one star is for the awesome ambience. We followed other yelpers tips and sat near the psychedelic, neon blue bar. But the other star deductions were for the food, pricing, and service. I was drawn to the gluten-free options and ordered the White Pie. I was ecstatic that it at first seemed to be only $10...boy was I wrong! GF apparently tacks on an extra 6 bucks and I did NOT see that written on the menu! Deceptive advertising? The pie itself did not taste like $21. The crust was hard and burned and the raw tomato slices didn't do anything for the taste or texture. A couple of ribbons of fresh sage would've brought out the provolone and mozz wonderfully...and perhaps would've justified a slightly higher tag but NOT $21 still. My friend ordered the Magic Mushroom soup and claimed that there was "nothing magical" about it. She also ordered the Holy Shitake pie and my other friend the Philosopher with chicken. The Holy Shitake pie was flavorful but slightly salty. The add-on chicken on the Philosopher was sparse and dry; the parm coated crust was good though! The worst part about the night was that it took us AN HOUR to get served. It took thirty minutes for our server to finally, unsincerely say that we "fell behind a large party." He did not come to check on us even once in the interim. I understand having worked in a restaurant that this happens, but we were not informed for 30 minutes and not offered an apology. It wasn't for another 30 minutes that the manager finally came and apologized. Sadly, this was too little too late. At least our food was warm, but overall I was very disappointed with my experience. read more

I like this place, the decor is very busy and hippie era like. This is a great place to hang out with your family, friends, or take a date. This restaurant has a very nice bar area, great music, good customer service, and tasty pizza. However, it was just as cold inside as outside. I've been to several different Mellow Mushrooms and I'm definitely a fan. I've been to the one in Arlington a few times now. The area is fun, right by Babe's and Grease Monkey, so lots of business to choose from. We have always sat at the bar at the Arlington location because the experience is just fun. The bartenders are nice, and you can watch sports and get a pizza to share. This location is very crowded in the evenings and we've had the bar fill up with families w/ kids because they didn't want to wait for a table big enough for all. I find that to be pretty rude because bar seating is for small groups, and it's inconsiderate to take up the whole area yourself. But that's not exactly the restaurant's fault. The drink menu is also really fun and I love the different choices. I will say that the menu (drink and food) is pretty pricey for a pizza joint. We don't go that often for that reason. If we want those prices, we would typically go somewhere nicer. Overall, good stuff though. I'm glad there's one nearby. read more

I've been a fan of Mellow for years, and since it was close to my hotel, why not. When I entered the bar, the 2 patrons appeared visibly upset. Since there was no bartender working behind the bar, this should've been a sign for me to leave. No, I'm an idiot, and stayed. After approximately 10-15 minutes, the elusive bartender appeared. {applause} She greeted me in a curt manner. I was ravenous and wanted to see a menu, but immediately after she placed my beer down, she scurried off, AGAIN. Seriously, what the hell is she doing!? When she finally came back, I was ready for another beer. Since she was too atrocious of a bartender to ask the #1 question "Hey, are you going to eat, or would you like to see a menu," *I* had to ask *her* for the menu, when I ordered another beer. But, she was grumbling about the bar not being busy. My advice: If it's too damn difficult to manage 2-3 patrons, I'd hate to see you actually attempt to work. Now, one of her friends is at the bar. So, "Jazmon," who in my opinion, seems allergic to work, is now at the bar, chatting up girl talk with her bestie. After having enough time to read current tax codes, I finally got Miss Jazmon's attention. I placed my order. {tick tock} When my food finally came out, it wasn't hot- more like room temperature. I'm not sure if it was forgotten, but it another girl brought it to me. Immediately, I asked "Hey can I have some napkins, and silverware?" You know, because Jazmon was gone, AGAIN. We got in two hours before closed and it didn't look all that busy, we got sat by the hostess (who was great) and had to wait for the bartender not even wearing a company shirt. She took 10 minutes to get our drink order and didn't get our cheese bread until 20 minutes after we ordered it when it was cold, we waited 20 minutes for her to check in on us where we asked her to take it back to heat it up, she nearly palmed our food before taking it back and bringing us back the same bread with our pizza. When we got the receipt it was missing the drink we ordered and we figured it was making up for bringing us cold food. She then added it after I handed her my card adding an extra $12 to the total. 0/10 would not recommend read more

Horrible parking in this part of town. There was a concert next door, so we spent over 20 minutes looking for a place to park. We wanted to try some place different, so instead of giving up, we went in. The hostess told us the wait would be 15 minutes, and then when we were fine with that, she told us pizza would take 40 minutes after ordering. It felt like her goal was to talk us out of staying. At this point, we saw a half dozen empty tables in the bar area, but the same hostess told us those were not open seating. Once we were seated (a five minute wait), we noticed they were understaffed and swamped with huge groups. Nonetheless, we ordered two appetizers - the muffuletta cheese bread (SUPER YUMMY!) and the meatballs. The meatballs might have been more appetizing if we'd had plates & silverware when we received them. Instead, we waited & asked for utensils. By that time, the meatballs were cold. The flavor was fine. As we later noticed, the hostesses were providing the silverware. Aha! We ordered a small Maui Wowee pizza and a Mushroom Club Hoagie. They were both scrumptious. They also came out quickly, and they were hot. Everything had a great flavor and came as advertised. I had heard a lot about the retro 70s decor in the place, and I have to say that it did not live up to expectations. It was more "industrial" with a little bit of "lava lamp" tossed in here or there. There is way too much chrome & steel for the 70s feel...but that is wholly aesthetic. The menu is fun and creative, and we will be back. Be warned about the parking, though. When we walked in it seemed like the hostess wanted us to leave. She and another host ignored us for a full 5 minutes, the restaurant was less than half full. Our food took an hour and a half to come out and the waitress never came to check on us. She threw stuff at our table without speaking or even looking our way. I would have liked the crunch to be taken out of my veggies just a little bit more. My chicken and veggie pizza did not feel cohesive. If I could give 0 stars I would. We came as a party of 4, for dinner before going to a sold out Wings game - a few blocks down the street. TOTAL disappointment. Drinks came after 10 minutes. After waiting over an hour for our food, (NO waitress check-in during that time frame), we finally flagged her down. 5 min later she comes back and says 'I guess they (the kitchen) didn't get your ticket/order', but they just now started it. So we told her to cancel the food order and just bring the pretzels. Husband went to bar to place an order for more drinks since it obviously wasn't a priority to our waitress, and guess what NO bartender staffing the bar! So we sat there for 15 minutes more and decided that we were just going to leave or we were going to miss the game. It took another 10 minutes for management to come over and decide that they would give us our two beers for free for our inconvenience. Absolutely the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. And honestly, nobody seem to care. On a night when you have a sellout crowd for a basketball game that's just down the street (because there's not a whole lot of food options in that area) you probably should have more than two waitresses and you probably should have a bartender.
