This is my grandsons favorite pizza. He usually gets plain cheese and eats 3 slices. The appetite of an 11 year old. I got the veggie calzone it was huge. I could only eat 1/2. For those that don't know, Mellow Mushroom is a chain pizza place that I think does chain pizza better than anyone else. I've been to several locations including in Florida and Georgia and the pizza quality, service and atmosphere is always a great experience. They have a nice beer selection of both local and out of area on tap. I really can't imagine anyone not liking this place. read more

So we felt like pizza and haven't been here in like forever. I now remember why! It's freezing in here and lights are so bright with those eye shocking LED lights it's blinding! So atmosphere sucks as noted. Service not much better. Slow and slower. Ordered the veggie pizza for the table with chicken added and one person got a chicken sandwich. An hour later our pizza came with sandwich. It's was DELICIOUS! Missing chicken but what the heck didn't need it. 5 minutes later informed we got the wrong pizza and they wanted to take it back. No way we want it yum yum. Correct pizza came with the chicken good but not half as good as the wrong pizza... hahaha. In any event, we will be BACK for that wrong pizza again! I came here a week ago with my cousin and we had a great time! It was about 8:00 on a Saturday night and we were told there was a 30min wait or so. We headed to the bar just to sit and grab a couple drinks, but we ended up just ordering our food there. Our bartender had great service- she was very friendly and quick with what she could be. We waited a while for our food, but it was expected, as they were busy and I'm sure understaffed, as is just about any restaurant right now. My cousin and I each got a pizza and split the hummus. We both loved the hummus and really enjoyed our meals as well. I am vegan, so I was really pleased with the vegan cheese option and was surprised to find tempeh as a topping option too! Ordered online for curbside pick-up, so I can't speak for dining in, but I was very happy with my recent experience. I ordered a cheese calzone and customized it with mushrooms & bacon. It was tasty, filling, and such a large portion that I was able to have leftovers for lunch for the next two days. There's ample parking overall here, but only three spots dedicated to curbside pickup. All three were full when I got there, but with no one in the cars, so I'm not sure if people went in for pickups instead of following curbside instructions, but it did make it harder to get my own order as I couldn't initially tell the staff on the phone what spot I was in. The location is a bit difficult to access due to the divided highway and busy traffic on Gulf to Bay, but there's a few different back/side entrances that can help you reach this location as well. read more

We decided to check out Mellow Mushroom on our way to the Tampa airport. I was hungry for pizza and the Yelp pics made it looked really good. Unfortunately, reality did not meet our expectations. We decided to do a half and half pizza. My family wanted the olive oil base and I wanted red sauce. The half and half option worked. Unfortunately, the half with the red sauce, mozzarella and meatballs was disappointing. It didn't have much flavor and the meatballs were fair. I should have just gone with what my family wanted. The second half with the olive oil base, chicken, feta and pesto swirl was very good. The waitress was very nice and brought us as much water as we needed. Unfortunately, it took a little no time for the pizza to come which wasn't great since we had to go the airport. I think it may have taken longer since it was half and half. Other people seemed to get their apps and entrees in a reasonable amount of time. read more

I've been here over a dozen times and on most occasions they are really good. I am a little miffed that they changed the potatoes on the loaded potato pie but for the most part everything else is consistently good. The pizzas are tasty and give you a lot of options. The salads are huge and also fresh and tasty. I haven't really loved a sandwich or calzone but the burger was also pretty good. The only thing I haven't liked in calzone or sandwich form was the philly cheesesteak, I just found it dry and not very flavorful. I would definitely recommend giving mellow a shot for some tasty and interesting pizza and if you are on the fence you can get half and half even in the small size which is nice. Don't forget to check in and get your free pretzel bites with cheese appetizer, it's basically just crust with beer cheese sauce but it's great! read more

Kids love it, there are crayons and things to draw on for them. Atmosphere is obviously very chill, but it can get a little loud in there if it's busy. For appetizers we started with Avocado Smash and for pizzas we ordered Holy Shiitake Pie for veg and Funky Q Chicken for non veg. Both the pizzas as well as avocado smash were amazing. I absolutely LOVE Mellow Mushroom's supreme pizza with meatballs instead of the pepperoni. I've had it both ways now, with the pepperoni and with meatballs substituted for the pepperoni and I like the meatball substitution much more. The pies were loaded with ingredients and sat on a base of mild but tasty marinara type sauce. Soft, delicious crust is the base. This place has taken the lead in my Best Pizza in Town Competition. This is a cool location with the restaurant decorated in psychedelic colors and shapes- a step back into the 60's. I was seated right away by a super nice staff member. It can be busy at peak hours so keep that in mind. The food is always great. My favorite pizzas would be the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and the Loaded Potato Pie. The flavors pie so well together.
