My family and I waited for over an hour and still didn't get our food. We constantly had to wave down our server or ask another server to get her. Our kids meals pizzas came, and they were hard on hoagie rolls. They're weren't good and we wanted to order something else for our kids. Not great at all. The only nice thing was the waiter telling us the wait would be horribly long since they had nearly no one show up for work. The drinks were slow, the appetizer was slow, the pizza was slow and one order came out when everyone else was done. Really terrible calzone (see pic!). Hard as a rock crust and cheese! 25 cents per serving of ranch dressing. Had to ask for utensils. Waiter was a cool dude but overall, horrible food and service. Sought this place for vegan/dietary friendly options with a big group but was sorely disappointed. Nothing came out correct to our orders; we ordered vegan wings and were told after the fact they were out, a pizza with vegan cheese came out with real cheese only after a vegan in our group ate the real cheese, a gluten free pizza came out with normal crust, a Caesar salad came out with a small hair in the dressing, and collectively all these mistakes took over an hour to reach our table with a fairly empty restaurant on Thursday night. The server we had did the best be could and helped to comp parts of the bill, but I'm putting this here so Mellow management (hopefully) reads this and makes changes for the future. We just don't want people with more serious restrictions (religious reasons, celiac, etc.) to go through similar mistakes from the kitchen. Please do better so we can come back and trust y'all! read more

The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. Luckily we had a runner that brought our app, took our order, and brought us our food. She got the tip. I saw our server talking at the bar the entire time. I asked for the manager, because we wanted to pay. I saw the person that I asked talk to the manager, so I know he got the message. He never came by to ask what we needed. This is a problem, because he sets the example. Terrible management leads to terrible staff, which leads to terrible reviews. I've had it too many times to count and I've never had service as bad as the service at the mckinney square location. On several occasions we've had drinks forgotten, pizzas forgotten and appetizers forgotten. Speaking of appetizers, here comes the pretzel bites I ordered 20 minutes before my pizza, yet showed up 20 minutes after that pizza arrived. It's safe to say that this will be my last time at this location and I highly advise MM corporate to get a hold of this problem before it puts them out of business. Maybe if the employees worked as much as they smoked weed and played the bongos we wouldn't be in this situation. They have an exceptional Happy Hour, so I'll start my review off by saying that. Half off drinks and appetizers is pretty much stellar in my book. I believe the Happy Hour starts at 3, but I do know it ends at 6. Monday through Friday. Worth going just for that. Their food isn't that great. I like the pizza enough to eat it if someone wants to meet there and I'm hungry, but it's not one of my favorite pizza spots. The Mighty Meaty is probably my favorite there. I always have leftovers which I consider to be a good thing. Their pretzels are okay. Get them on Happy Hour, and you're good. Service is hit or miss here. I did have one bad experience with a bartender here, and someone who I am guessing was a manager was trying to make it right... By saying it was busy. It's not ever really busy when I go there, but whatever. Everyone is allowed an off day. She did say she'd not charge us for something (my friend ordered an additional topping on her pizza, and they didn't include it... But charged her for it). I'd hope you wouldn't charge her for something she didn't get. Glad she at least got that corrected. When Mellow Mushroom first opened, I had a big group of people show up... Wrightsville Beach Mellow Mushroom Placed order online for pickup. My husband went to pick the food up 45 mins later and they haven't put the sandwiches on the grill to cook. No apologies from hostess. Sandwiches took another 10 mins, then when our order was handed to my husband, the sides were not in the bag. My husband stopped the employee and ask about sides and the guy threw in one small bag of chips and walked away. No apologies, enjoy, or have a good evening. We've been going to Mellow Mushroom for a while now, and they have always been consistently good. They have unique and delicious styles of pizza, and their appetizers are always tasty. Recently due to a life change we've had some changes to our dietary restrictions, and Mellow Mushroom has worked with us to provide pizza that my family is able to eat. They are one of the few restaurants that cater to unique allergen and dietary restrictions. There are some lower star ratings that I've read, and I don't feel it is a accurate representation of the quality of this branch. I've had better from dominoes. My wife ordered a burger. I know, never order a burger from a pizza joint, but she did anyway. It was small and dry. She would have done better to go to Wendy's. No taste whatsoever and it costs $12. We got the artichoke dip for an appetizer, and it just tasted like tasteless cheese. The service wasn't much better. Many times our guy just disappeared. I'm getting really sad about the declining mellow mushroom locations in the DFW area. I drove all the way to McKinney (45 minute drive) Saturday night and it was WELL WORTH the time. If you aren't familiar with mellow mushroom, just sing the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" out-loud to yourself and you'll get the concept. Clean food (as in whole ingredients) with a nice variety of pizzas and salads on the menu. If you're lucky to visit a mellow mushroom that has a full bar, watch out! They have fantastic drinks. Menu recommendations: Greek salad (with the dressing. Yummy) pretzel bites, and any pizza. Literally, pick a pizza and enjoy! What makes this location so special (other than being one of the last remaining MMs in Dallas)? The service. Marshall was our server and he was fantastic! Drinks were never empty, perfect balance between appetizers, salad then pizza, and he let us sit in his section for over an hour and giggle like hyenas whole never passing judgement. Like this dude is a 30% tip kind of dude. The bartender. Mr. Hippy man with the dreadlocks, Hell pants, and tie-dye shirt: you pour the best liquor beverages ever. Thank you! The kitchen. Food: I've honestly had better pizza, but the food is still decent. I've tried the Kosmic Karma and the Mighty Meaty. They have really unique topping choices, but sometimes the meats can be pretty salty and the crust's texture is quite similar to what I pay $8 at Pizza Hut for. I've also tried their steak and cheese hoagie, but it still isn't anything special. Environment: Definitely has a fun, colorful, arcade-y? feel. A lot of tables so I don't assume the wait should be long if there even is any. This was our first visit to this restaurant, the ONLY positive thing about it was our server. She was AMAZING she was doing the jobs of several people. She was in the kitchen helping prepare our food, she was on top of the cooks to get our food out she should honestly be promoted to manager. However other than her everything else about our experience was horrible, my wife ordered the peach margarita and it tasted like there was zero tequila in it and had a horrible after taste and don't recommend anyone getting it. I ordered my standard beer which is a revolver blood and honey that I order at almost every restaurant and it was very clear that there was an issue with the keg or the lines to the tap because it too did not taste like the beer I'm used to having. We ordered wings, a small pizza and a Cobb salad, it took nearly an hour to get our food and the were maybe half a dozen other tables so it was not in the least way busy and I don't even want to know how long food takes when it is. It took that long even with our server constantly hounding the kitchen staff about our food, which came out in pieces. The wings and the pizza came out after almost an hour and the salad, yes the salad of all things still wasn't ready and our server had to go hound the kitchen staff and the manager to get it made and out to the table. The Cobb salad was just plain gross and not tossed and it was sent back. NOW all of this could have easily been fixed had the manager bothered yo go into the kitchen and help expedite the process, instead he wondered aimlessly around the restaurant and then disappeared back into the back of the restaurant. When I sent my salad back our server went to the manager and asked him to take it off the bill, she brought our bill and it was still on there so she had to go back and ask him a second time. In the process of taking it off he looked over and glared serveal times in our tables direction which is incredibly unprofessional. To top it off the women at the table next to us asked for warm soup as their soup was cold and the bartender took their bowls and asked one of the kitchen staff to throw them in the microwave instead of giving them fresh hot soup and then brought the microwaved bowls back out to the table which is absolutely a health code violation. Needless to say we will never return and will be using word of mouth to let all of our family and friends know how horrible our experience was. read more
