Went in on a Wednesday afternoon with a friend, spur of the moment to get a pedicure. I was really Nervous since I had Bunyan surgery a year ago and my foot is still very sore. Turns out I had nothing the be worries about. They did a great job and were gentle with my "bad" foot. It was $33 for a pedicure that included and awesome massage. I don't think that's bad at all! I got my nails done last Friday a d it took almost a full 2 hours and my nails are cracked and chipped not even 2 days later... and i was charged 40 dollars for the dipping powder. Never again. read more

Went today. Had an appointment at 10. Got seated around 10:30. Water got cold. She started pedicure at 11. Said sorry. I had to leave with no manicure. I waited 20 min for nails to dry. My nails are smudged and the color is peeling off. Now I have go get them done elsewhere tomorrow. Such BAD BAD practice. No discount, no gift card for free manicure. Walk in girl told me to pick color. Then she soak my feet for 15 min and no one came over to me. Wish they told me that they were really busy. Only has time to get feet done and they rush on that. They charge me full price for half of the work. Will not be going back . read more

I've been to Melrose Nails several times for pedicures and eyebrow waxing. I am compelled to review what is usually just average service due to my most recent visit for a pedicure. I walked in and was immediately seated at a pedicure station and the water basin was filled. Another woman was seated at the same time as me and she had made an appointment for mani and pedi. After 35 minutes and several, "just a few more minutes" from the workers there, I finally got up and left. It didn't appear that any of the workers were even close to being done, not to mention the women next to me was also still waiting and deserved priority since she had made an appointment. This isn't the first time this has happened, and given that the quality of service was never amazing, this will be the last time I ever step foot in the door of this place. If your looking for someone to waste 30-45 minutes of your time, rush your mani and pedi, and get a average-at-best quality mani/pedi/wax, this is your place. Otherwise, go somewhere else! read more

If you want a no-thrills but super well done mani or pedi come here. The decor is really outdated and in need of repairs but ALL of the technicians do an awesome job. I never make appointments and consistently get paired quickly with a technician who does a fantastic job. It's also a good sign that you see the same women working there for years. The owner is often around and makes sure that she is only hiring skilled workers. The pricing is really moderate and my manis/pedis last longer than anywhere else. This place is consistent and has really convenient hours. If you are looking for fancy chairs and a modern ambiance, do not come here. If you are looking for a well-priced EXCELLENT manicure/pedicure at a convenient time, this is your place! read more

I've been coming here for over 5yrs overall Techs & owner Michelle are super friendly and do a good job. It's always busy here which is a good sign. Be prepared to wait! Why the two stars? I wanted to give 2 1/2 stars... I normally don't make appointments because I usually get seated within 15 or 30mins it varies, depending on the day. I know they hate to turn customers away but give realistic time when asked "how long". Don't say a few minutes when it's 30mins..a few means under 5min (in my books). But the one time I did have an appt I waited about an hour before being seated. So what's the point of having an appt if they're not kept or over booked. and I wasn't the only one that morning. Secondly, the website hours may need to be updated. Sat hours reflect open til 630p when it's actually 6pm. read more

They are so nice and friendly! Vivi is amaaaazing! I wish I can bring her to California. My gel manicure lasted for 3 weeks after the wedding! It was fabulous! She took each nail and dried it individually under the UV dryer. I think that made the difference. All the other gel manicures I have had are not even close to lasting as long as Vivi's did! And she is so sweet! I had a great time in Melrose and this place only made it better! read more

Went in for a pedicure and that was ok felt very rushed. I have had acrylic on my nails for years and when I asked my technician is she could do it she said sure no problem. Well I can say never go there it was a torture session! She started trying to rip my acrylic nail off my pinkie nail after 3 times saying that hurts and asked why she wasn't using the file she said it takes too long. Well i had to stop her after that, she cracked my nail down the middle and made me bleed. Before I knew what she was doing she glued a silk piece to my nail and said see nothing will go in. I said no we are not doing this any more. In my history of getting nails done this has never happened! My nail is now messed up and i won't be able to get it fixed for a long time and now i have to soak off a glued on piece of silk on an open wound. read more

This place is awful. Every time (which is probably about twice a year) I go in to get my eyebrows done I get burned because they don't blow on the hot wax before putting it on your skin. I went in yesterday hoping they would do a better job and my face is currently scarring because she burned my eyelid and upper lip so bad. I showed up on-time for my appointment. They were running behind and I had to sit and wait nearly 25 minutes for the tech. I understand sometimes it can't be helped - but this place was very crowded as it was and there were 2 other women waiting ahead of me for their appt. The owner (?) is so loud and obnoxious I got a headache listening to her screaming into her ear piece to callers yes, just come...you come now. Ugh. First time and last time. read more

I've gone to this salon for 10 years. Still go even though I've moved 35 miles away because the pedicure from Cindy is THAT GOOD. It's not just cosmetic if you get my drift. I read some of these other Yelp reviews. One where someone used this page to promote their own salon (uncool) and others that I think sound suspiciously like they could have been written by local competitors. I tried to find a salon in my new city that did as good a job and had no success. So I drive 40 minutes to Melrose. What does that tell you? read more

I agree w previous reviews stating the time you are asked to wait is longer than they make it sound. I was told to "pick a color" and waited and waited and waited. I walked out. The sad part is my husband got me a gift certificate for Xmas to this place (as this was where I used to go last year.) I believe this place is not the place they used to be. I left and paid full price for a mani/pedi at a salon down the street. That place does a much better job. Also, their gel does not last two weeks and the place down the street lasts three weeks!! This place needs to be honest and upfront w people and give honest waiting times. I do not mind waiting as long as I am not mislead about the waiting time. Hope this place changes for the better so I can use my gift cetificate..or I will go when I have hours to spare and do not mind being lied to about the waiting time or having a subpar mani and pedi. read more

Went in becuse they are open later for those of us who work until 5pm. Unfortunately, I paid $25 for a shellac manicure done in 15 minutes and ended up chipping after 2 days. Never going back. read more

Lots of old nail polish, very busy all the time, you wait for a while. The girls I had do pedi's did a good job with cuticles, but I just couldn't do the old polish plus the wait. read more

I've tried every nail salon in the Malden/Melrose area and have just had the best experience here. My nail technician has been incredibly friendly, scrubbed my feet and massaged my feet and legs with more care and attention than I've ever experienced before, and I didn't even have to wait as a walk-in. I made an appointment to have my nails (fill) done and a waxing (lip/brow). I got there a few minutes early, but still had to wait. I looked around and the stations did not look very clean. I should have walked out. The person who did my nails rushed, and did a terrible job. She kept drilling - no need to. Once that was over, I then had to wait again until the other person was finished working with another client's nails. I almost walked out. I should have. I was a bit angry and did not notice if she washed her hands or not. I don't think she did. She worked on my eyebrows and had her fingers all over my eye area. Less than 36 hours later, my eye started to bother me; then, the other eye. I ended up going to the eye doctor and I have an infection in both eyes. Ladies, my recommendation is - don't go there. I am furious. I had to throw away my eye makeup, which, by the way was pretty new. I am still on antiobiotics for a few more days. read more

I hadn't been here before and was encouraged when I saw a number of women inside getting their nails done. I was seated quickly for a mani/pedi combo and was encouraged that several people there seemed to be repeat customers. Well, I won't be one of them. The water for the pedicure was lukewarm. I had asked that there be no cutting of cuticles or calluses. Well, before I knew it, the woman was cutting away, not paying attention to what I asked. She did do a nice job on the leg massage, although the cold gel at first felt weird. For the manicure, I asked for a round shape rather than square across. Before I knew it, she had cut square across and left very little room to round out the shape. The nail polish on my toes and fingers was put on very thick, and only hours later I have dull smudges on toes and fingers. The final straw was was when she had cut off a flap of skin on a scrape on my finger that was healing over, leaving an open sore. She gave me a band-aid, but it now burns until it heals back over. read more
