If you want to see or be seen in LA... this is the spot to be! Ever wondered what's trendy or fashionable in SoCal? Melrose will let you know as soon as you arrive. Parking is easy to find as they provide valet parking which is marketed as free, but realistically tip-based. Entrance fee is less than $10 which is much cheaper than the Rose Bowl Flea Market. There is a good variety of booths from candles and crystals to vintage clothing and underrated designers. The prices range from very cheap ($1-$5 clothes) all the way up to hundreds of dollars for rare finds. The sellers are very casual and chill which makes shopping here a fun experience. There is also art and furniture here and the Grove is walking distance from this place. Erewhon is also a couple blocks away. Overall, this is the perfect spot for any tourist visiting LA wanting to experience the lovely sunny weather. It is also a great place to kill time on a Sunday and people watch (with sunglasses preferably). read more

Guys- save your money and don't pay the entrance fee because I'm not sure if this market is worth it! I'm a trinkets, art, kitchenware-type antiquer/thrifter and maybe this place is better for those looking for clothing. I couldn't find much good stuff. I got a few overpriced vintage post cards, a mini wooden picture frame, and a handful of Christmas ornaments. Most everything cost so much and wasn't really good quality vintage, I think you're better off trying elsewhere like the rose bowl or a vintage mall. This review is for the NONGSHIM pop-up that occurred on 9/21!! It was not promoted as an event that was happening INSIDE the Melrose Trading Post so we were unaware of the entrance fee ($6) until we got there. However, the staff from Nongshim was so nice and accommodating and provided us with samples to try over the fence. He was so thorough in explaining all the flavors available to try and even provided us with the full experience while handing the ice cream over the fence. My cousin, a friend, and I were trying to figure out how to spend the last few hours in LA without going far from the airport and the Melrose Trading Post popped up on Yelp. It was easy to pay the online entrance fee ($6 per person) and they have valet parking so you don't even have to worry about it. I think it was fun to browse - from the outside looking in it didn't look like much, but once you get inside and continue to walk further in then you'll quickly become overwhelmed by the amount of vendors and food options available. While there was a lot of temptation to buy clothes, to buy posters, or to buy pins, we resisted as much as we could, but if we didn't have to think about our luggage space then I'm sure we could've easily found something for all of us. Overall, the experience for the first time was fun and there was a bunch of creative things in one location. If you're a fan of thrifting or outdoor markets then this is a fun stopping point when you're in the area. read more

Vintage, modern and more! I absolutely love this show! It's every Sunday and they have valet parking! Lots of vendors, music, good eats, great people watching! Rows and rows of stuff; plan 2-4 hours at least if you like to take your time and see everything. I've found so many cool things here! Aside from that, I love to see the creativity that people show through their business. My friend is a DJ and he found a couple performance jackets here that he still wears for shows. Was my first time coming here, grabbed a coffee and browsed around for a bit. Some places looked cool but it really is a lot of overpriced stuff. The worst part was this one vendor who claimed to sell "vintage" 80s jewelry. Most of it felt so cheap and it was obviously poor quality, no way it lasted from the 80s. The lady there was also so rude. I made the mistake of asking a question, she wouldn't look me in the eye and her tone made it clear she was annoyed by me- no idea why, I was very polite. My friend was with me and was also confused as to why this lady was acting like that. At one point when walking by me she rudely bumped into me and couldn't bother to apologize, so we just left. read more

I have always been curious about this open-air market (founded in 1997) selling vintage goods and I always see a huge crowd whenever I drove past Fairfax High School. [Hours]: Every Sunday at Fairfax High School from 9 AM to 5 PM. [Parking]: There's limited on-campus parking and the entrance is via Fairfax & Clinton (right turn only northbound on Fairfax); however, I ended up finding plenty of metered parking spots at Melrose Avenue & Fairfax Avenue (right next to a gas station). [Admission]: $5 per person and the exit guard can stamp the back of the hand and guests can re-enter by just showing their hands. [Amenities & vendors]: There are approximately 100+ vendors and half a dozen food trucks. Vendors include jewelry and accessories (20%), vintage clothing (mostly jeans) & local designers & accessories (30%), apothecary such as candles (20%), plants (10%), local artists (10%), and antique & home decors (10%). Few vendors that caught my attention were vintage Levi's, boots, and vintage T-shirts. Food trucks got few solid options, but nothing really stood out. I circled the entire market and left in 30 minutes. While it is an ultimate destination for vintage clothing, antique selection is quite disappointing comparing with Rose Bowl Flea Market or The Pasadena City College Flea Market. Personally it's one-and-done stop as I don't live close enough or have desire to overpay for vintage clothing AND not to mention difficult parking and $5 entrance fee. read more

This place is so fun! I was visiting from out of town and my family indicated we should go here since they know I love to thrift. There is a nice mix of vintage designer brand clothing saved from a black trash bag in the back of someone's closet. There are a lot of small businesses and an abundance of artists selling their artwork for reasonableish prices. Go see the guy who makes CLOCKS out of your favorite books!!!! Across from him is an artist who makes really neat futuristic paintings. That said, there are also a metric ton of people claiming to be a 'handmade small business'... and its a bold-faced lie as I was wearing one of the necklaces on their display which was purchased for $10 on Amazon that they were selling for $20 and while I was looking the woman would not move from me - as in she stood there on the other side of very cheap costume jewelry attempting to be passed off as "vintage repurposed jewelry", with her arms crossed, while I was just perusing. You absolutely will get a lot of that... while across the sidewalk from this was another person was legitimately selling vintage repurposed jewelry that was a variety of unique one-of-a-kind 60's-80's era jewelry. Not too much in the way of food so just go to Canter's when you're finished. Parking is really difficult - we had to park in the adjacent neighborhood. What a wonderful weekend adventure in the Melrose/Fairfax area. You do need to pay to get in, but it's a nominal fee for the fun and steps you'll get in return. My partner likes to hunt for cool finds, while I'm walking up and down and all around to hit my daily 10k. There are a ton of clothes and household/personal Knick knacks here, along with some shoes and food. You'll find plenty of personal crafts and baked goods. There's music and art, as well. It can get busy here, so come early to beat the crowd. You'll also beat the heat, especially during the summer/fall months. The event happens every weekend at the high school. Park on the street anywhere around the area. read more

I love vintage and antique stores and have for years wanted to go to Melrose Trading Post. I finally made this past Sunday and was disappointed. It felt more like an over priced yard sale. I stop at one vendor's booth and she totally ignored me. I tried to get her attention several times to inquire about a hand mirror. The first she was unpacking looked at me and continued unpacking and the second time when I made eye contact she hurriedly put her head down. It was weird so I decided to just leave. For the most everyone else was very friendly. I will admit I was at first disappointed about paying the entry fee; but once I saw that the proceeds goes towards their art classes I was glad to contribute. read more

Well visiting Melrose Trading Post is an excellent option, not only do they have unique finds but you'll be able to spend your day in the sunny outdoors and great ambience. Parking: might be a bit of a hassle, there's parking within Fairfax High School but was full upon visiting, so had to drive around the annexing residential neighborhoods for a spot. Tickets: available online for $5 but includes an extra $2 service fee. Having bought online tickets has its perk as you don't have to wait in line to buy and enter. Especially if you arrive past noon, it's a long waiting line. Vendors: Wide selection of trinkets and treasures galore. Anything for yourself or perfect to find a unique gift. You will find the cutest indoor plants, jewelry, sunglasses, dream catchers, books, purses, beauty products, chakra stones, incense, and have I mentioned lots of vintage clothes! Plenty dresses, jean jackets, fringe, sequins just about it all. You'll be sure to spend hours browsing around exploring it all. Highly recommend bringing water, sunglasses and that sunblock as you'll be sure to leave with a suntan. Prices: A lil on the higher end for used clothes, as compared to your garage sale or thrift store. But there's that slight room to bargain. Also come prepared with either cash or Venmo as most vendors don't accept card. Food : Food trucks! Also stands with vegan milkshakes, lemonades, iced coffee and donuts. My partner told me about this place so we checked this spot out to do some Christmas shopping. Here was our experience one Sunday morning. Ambiance: * Parking | Street Parking but they also do inside parking as well (free but they take tips) * Feels | You're not in the glamorous Hollywood area. Just your grassroot blue collar area. The highschool is pretty big and room for plenty of vendors from art, jewelry, furniture, clothing, and food. Great place to enjoy a Sunday stroll. Products: I dig it. There were over 200 vendors and was fairly impressed with them. Many of them with reasonable prices (I just wish I had more money). Customer Service: Dope! People were friendly and helpful. What a cute vintage flea market located in the city of Los Angeles. My boyfriend and I set out to go and visit a few vendors on a Sunday (during COVID) and really enjoyed ourselves. Prior to our visit we made sure to withdraw some cash from our bank (there's a $5 cash only fee upon entering). Although the entrance fee is a bit pricey I appreciate the fact that most proceeds go to special school programs. Such a great cause to donate to! We looked for parking within the residential streets and walked on over to the market. Most of the vendors we came across here accept Venmo/Zelle which is a huge plus! You can find everything from gently used clothes, candles, dried flowers to gently used books for all you bookworms out there. Once we were finished with our shopping we visited the school courtyard that had a handful of food/coffee vendors. We enjoyed the thai food truck that was present during our visit. We had such fun time strolling through the place on a Sunday. We plan on returning back in the future. read more

The perfect place to look for homemade gifts, jewelry, and furniture! I've been coming to the MTP for about 4 years now and I think it has only gotten better over the years. When I first came it was pretty much ALL vintage clothes and used furniture. But recently I've been finding more unique pieces including handmade clothes. I love seeing all the unique things people make and especially like looking for gifts here or bringing visiting friends. Make sure to bring $5 cash for entry and it's also helpful to have it with vendors too to avoid extra credit card fees. First time here! How fun! One of my favorite vendors, Urban Geometry, is here and my main reason why I came. Beautiful hanging planters with air plants and hanging crystals. See my pictures :-) I came across so many other cute booths. One of them being Ortiz succulents... Absolutely love this flea market! Lots of diverse merchants with interesting items for sale and good food trucks for a quick bite. It's the biggest flea market I've been to and I walked away with some great finds. Parking can be a challenge, so definitely go earlier in the day or close to opening. What a cute and fun way to spend your Sunday morning! Checked out a few vendor stalls and came across Nou which had lovely smelling candles! One even reminded me of childhood and would you know it, the owner was a very lovely gal from New Zealand -so very close to my roots of Australia. No wonder the smells were familiar. They are $25 each or 2/ $45 I'm pretty sure. Supporting local merchants is big in Los Angeles so I'm glad that this fun trade post exists. There's yummy food trucks if you want a snack and I do suggest to bring a bit of cash. Some vendors do take card which is great, but not guaranteed so be prepared :) When I went it was a bit gloomy out and I enjoyed it a bit more since the sun wasn't out too strong. People and staff were very kind and I found parking on Melrose pretty quickly. Highly suggest to check it out with some girlfriends or friends in general. I highly recommend this spot! If you love vintage, food, art, fashion, plants, music, then u should definitely visit here when you're in LA! It's only open on Sundays so there's a handful of people who go, but I would definitely come back. There's also a fee to enter, but it's affordable! Especially when you're coming in and staying for a while. The only con I would say is the parking.. we went around 11AM-12PM and the Parking was full so we parked on the street. I dislike the smell of incense and this was the worst place to go to. There were many clothes and items you can check out. However, the incense made my experience here unenjoyable. I couldn't focus on what I wanted to buy. They also charge an entrance fee which I greatly dislike. I ended up not purchasing anything and just wasted my money on an entrance fee.
