The potatoes were soggy, not crisp or hearty like you'd expect, and the whole thing felt skimpy for $8.15. I was a loyal customer for over SIX YEARS, stopping in several times a week. While the staff seemed to change constantly, one thing never did--the owner's rude, dismissive attitude. After my most recent experience, I'll never be back. I called in an order for a long-roll turkey sandwich that I was planning to split with my uncle, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. The young employee who answered the phone struggled to repeat my order back to me, so I made sure to clearly state that I wanted it on a long roll. When I got home--25 MINUTES AWAY--I discovered the sandwich had been made on a small round roll instead. Since we were splitting it, there was a huge difference between a 12-inch long roll and a small round roll. I immediately called the deli, explained the mistake, and the woman who answered (who I had spoken with many times before) apologized and told me they would take care of it by giving me a discount the next time I came in. Two days later, after taking my uncle to one of his cancer treatments, I stopped in expecting them to honor what I had been told. Instead, the owner (who identified himself as "Ed") approached me with an attitude and immediately said, "What are you looking for? It's the same price for a long roll or a short roll. I run a business here, and there's nothing I'm going to do about it." I explained that it wasn't about the money. I even showed him pictures of the sandwich and reminded him that I had been a loyal customer for years. He interrupted me, saying his employee claimed I ordered a short roll and repeated that he wasn't doing anything because he "runs a business." He then added, "You come in here all the time, but I have a lot of loyal customers." When I explained that I had called immediately after getting home because I live 25 minutes away, I was told that if I had brought the sandwich back, they would have corrected it. That wasn't a realistic option. I wasn't about to leave my uncle, who is battling cancer, and drive 50 minutes round trip because their employee made the sandwich incorrectly. Any business that genuinely values its customers would understand that and make a reasonable effort to fix the mistake the next time I came in--especially after one of their own employees had already promised they would. Instead, the owner dismissed the entire situation and treated me like I was asking for something unreasonable. This was never about trying to get something for free. I simply expected the business to stand behind its mistake. Even replacing the bread or honoring what I had been promised would have been enough. Instead, I was spoken to with disrespect, talked down to, and treated like my years of loyalty meant absolutely nothing. At the end of the conversation, I told the owner, "You just lost a loyal customer, and I don't appreciate the way you're talking to me." His response was simply, "Well, that's too bad." That one statement summed up exactly how he feels about the people who support his business. After spending thousands of dollars there over the past six years, I was shocked by how I was treated over something so simple. The owner's attitude alone was enough to lose my business. Looking back, convenience was really the only reason I kept going there. The chips are often stale from sitting out all day, and on multiple occasions I've personally seen employees handling food without gloves. I overlooked those things because the location was convenient, but after the way I was treated, I have absolutely no reason to return. He didn't just lose one loyal customer. After sharing this experience with several friends who also frequented this deli, many of them said they only went there because it was convenient as well and have decided they'll be taking their business elsewhere. On my short visit to Flemington, I liked this place so much that I got 2 breakfast meals and 2 lunch meals and brought one of my Flemington family members here for breakfast--it was that good. For breakfast: I got the Egg White Veggie Wrap 2X. Don't see any reason to get anything else here for Breakfast. It was the best of the best of any place you will eat breakfast. For lunch: I got the Boar's Head Oven Gold Turkey on a Multi-Grain Bagel 2X with Lettuce, Pickles, Onions, Tomatoes. Hold the Mayo, add Mustard. I took the second one on the plane with me out of Philadelphia and it held up well on the way to Denver. Bagels here are excellent. People that work here--work hard, but are rough and gruff--they are doing You a favor by serving you such great food so don't expect friendliness. Don't expect a hello or thank you--just quality food served Fast. And I rather have great food and bad attitude, than great attitude and bad food. You want both? Move to Iowa. There are a few tables inside to sit at after you order--clean them yourself--they are too busy to get to them. Free and easy parking. Thanks for staying open on Labor Day when everyone else was closed. I would definitely dine here again on my next trip to Flemington. read more

We were asking ourselves... wow what is making this so good?! Not only was it hot but there was a generous amount of meat on the sandwich and a perfect balance of all workings. I couldn't fully taste my food because of the bad taste left in my mouth by the customer service here, but I'll do my best. I'll start with the good, the meat and veggies are very fresh. I got a bagel with turkey, provolone, and your standard sub fixings. It was a solid sandwich. It's hard to know the definite quality of the bagel since I had it as a sandwich but I would say it's better than an out-of-state bagel (exception NY), but not as good as the best of Jersey/NY. The bad: I don't recommend coming here with children. You'd assume a deli wouldn't be a place offended by two kids but we were treated like our business wasn't good here. This is my second time coming here. The first time they weren't busy and the woman who helped us was definitely not pleasant but also nothing to really complain about. This time, they were a little busier and the same woman was downright nasty to us and creating her own problems. We tried to be as quick as possible and tame the kids but she really made us feel like we brought in wild animals. She did that thing where she's really abrupt and almost rude for awhile, realizes you're a paying customer who might complain so changes her tune a little by saying "I hope you enjoy it" and then passive aggressively tells me "here's the menu, order ahead next time" in a nasty tone. Don't worry lady, there won't be a next time. There are plenty of delis who can handle a couple of kids for a total of 15 mins, I'll take my business elsewhere. I'd really like to give two stars for the way we were treated, but I've settled for 3 since there was nothing wrong with the food (except the fries that had absolutely no seasoning/salt and tasted like the oil they were fried in, definitely pass on the fries unless that sounds appealing to you.) For context: we were a party of 5, 2 young kids, 1 preteen, and 2 adults. We were not rude , the kids were not running all over the place or being destructive. They were loud at times and we were able to quickly quiet them down. Our orders were simple, the most complicated thing was the sandwich which wasn't at all complicated. I'm not sure if she was the owner or manager, she seems to run things on the particular day that I go. If there is a different owner I'd be happy to share my experience with them in detail over a private email or message, but I don't think it's necessary to go into too much detail over yelp. I think my profile speaks for itself, I'm an easy customer to please, it's hard to anger me and I try to be as accommodating and fair as possible, and what we experienced that day was not right. read more

They have a pretty large selection of different items to choose from. You could see that there were many regulars when the owner greeted customers . Nice small shop in a small plaza center with a few other stores, I've come here one or twice in the past and didnt have a great experience with the food. The taste of the items wasnt so great or subpar and was missing what i asked. A really upsetting thing is they only have pork as the choice of meat and a super thin and fake piece if turkey sausage. Its not fresh its frozen because from a person who has eaten all kinds of turkey sausage knows thats frozen stuff. So I went yesterday for brunch and got an egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel with the turkey sausage. I added salt pepper and ketchup and to my surprise it was very good but the piece of turkey sausage was way too small for it to be .85 and $5 for bagel with eggs and cheese is too much as well. I've been to plenty other great bagel joints and got my moneys worth. More egg then meat is really sad and there's way too much salt on the everything bagel i wish there was less salt. The workers are nice people which is always a plus for me because rude people aren't the way to a successful business and wont give good star ratings. Friendly service, great coffee and the bagel was very good. However, my toasted bagel and butter contained zero evidence that it had been buttered. Major pet peeve. Order a bagel and cream cheese, you get plenty. Order a buttered bagel and people dole out the butter like it's a precious commodity. Aggravating.
